What happened to customer service? My family and I went in to buy a two burner stove today. When the girl rang us up it didn't come up with the discount, as advertised. I informed the girl and with attitude she said the sale was over on the 17th, which is when I told her "today was the 17th". She called someone over, and I started explaining what the ad said and again with attitude she said "I know my system is giving the wrong amount". After it was corrected I told her she didn't need to be mad and she snapped and said she wasn't. I paid and as she gave me the receipt. She didn't say thank you. I said "You're welcome" and then she returned the "you're welcome" back to me. I asked to see her manager who apologized but honestly didn't seem to care. What is happening to these kids not caring about how they treat customers? It's no wonder stores are going out of business, no one wants to shop somewhere and be mistreated. I won't be shopping here anymore. I would rather drive further, if it means being treated better. read more

I'd always thought of this shop as somewhere extreme sports people visited. Imagine my surprise when I entered and found it to house trendy topics and brightly colored sporting stuffs. I mean, I'd thought that was it but seeing it was much more impressive. Everything in there can be hurled at someone and hurt them, in my opinion. However, I'm sure that most people would appreciate the simplicity of the separation of sections. I didn't like that the women's shoes were kept in the back and I had to trouble the workers, but they were kind and made a few runs for me to find my right size. Okay, quite a trip. So I came trying to buy ammo. I've bought Ammo plenty of time in past from here. But this time the service at this store sucked ass. The Girl with glasses went to do the background check. But while she picked up the boxes and took my ID. She literally sighed and Exhaled like if she was saying in her head "I don't wanna do this ". She comes back to me saying it was Rejected. I knew right away that she didn't even try to put all my information correctly. Just out of laziness and Stupidity. How is it that I went to another store after that and PASSED the Background Check and got the Ammo I wanted? They shouldn't have people like that working with Firearms and Ammo if they don't even know how to do a background check. And these people don't know what they are doing. read more

This big 5 had hiking shoes I was looking for at a decent price (even when I compared it online). I bought from here because I liked their styles and even got socks here. The staff was friendly and very helpful with recommendations for fit, style, and feel. I found out that I was a very different size than I thought I was. There was so many different sporting goods and not just camping material. I'd come back for other activities. read more

Terrible customer service. My husband went to this location and arrived just in time. Yes, he arrived 5 min before store close, but still enough time to make a quick purchase needed for our 3 yr olds soccer practice the next day. I went into the store and wanted to buy a b.b. gun. I had seen ads for b.b. guns and they had the least expensive ones I had found so far. I had bought a b.b. gun there in the past. I mentioned that a b.b. gun could be used at home if you live alone, you could keep it under your pillow in case an intruder came in. Darin immediately put the b.b gun on the back counter. Christina came out from the back of the store and said a b.b. gun is not to be used for self-defense, what if you 'brandish' a b.b. gun at someone who is an intruder and has broken into your home? He'll be even MORE enraged, and determined to kill you. I said, 'No, if someone wakes you from a dead sleep and is attacking you is on top of you and you can grab the b.b. gun you can use it, right.' 'Absolutely not we are not selling you a b.b. gun it is NOT going to be sold to you because you said you might use it for self-defense.' I called Corporate and they talked to them then got back on the line with me and said, 'They don't feel comfortable selling you a b.b. gun, go to one of our other stores.' So I'm telling you guys this is an outrage and against Consumer Laws. Don't buy ONE THING from Big 5. The nerve. read more

I'm so impressed by the outstanding customer service at this big 5. Yesterday I went in and I was greeted by a young man big smile, super cheerful, pointed me in the way of my purchase. He was so nice it took me by surprise. Everyone was covid safe store had people in it but not crowded. Then I called today to find a sleeping bag. My phone call was answered immediately with kindness and then I was transferred to the floor sales person she was fast efficient and pleasant to speak with. Store closed at 7:30 and I checked what time this location closes because the female employee came up to me 3 times asking if I was done shopping but clearly I wasn't. The 3rd time she asked I checked the time and it was 7:03. Didn't like my experience here, very annoying having someone breathe over your shoulder. read more

Yolany was very professional, Knowledgeable, and very friendly. I released I left my wallet in the store and I returned to ask for assistance in finding the wallet. I went to Big 5 this morning to get some sleeping bags for our grandsons for Xmas since Wal Mart cancelled my order because they were out of stock. Feliciano was more than helpful in helping me to pick out 3 different colors of sleeping bags that grandpa initially wanted in the first place. I went in to buy some goggles and I wasn't really sure which ones to buy but lucky for me the staff there was very helpful. I forgot to ask for the name of the guy that helped me but he was very nice in helping me find the pair prefect for me and my needs. This store is located across the street from Tyler mall. Therefore, it is an easy walk from the mall to this store. The store is really organized and it pretty well stocked. There are plenty of parking outside the store. I was asked several times from different employees if I needed help. This is a good sign that they have the interests of the customers at heart. read more

I like the products that they carry and prices are always fair but their costumer service is horrible! I was looking for soccer cleats for my daughter. One worker got a pair out for me and just walked away, Didn't stay with me to make sure they fit and if not get me another size. After I received helped from another worker, same thing. Came here to buy a shotgun they had on sale. They told me I will need to get another Firearm safety certificate to buy the shotgun. Being a DOJ/NRA certified instructor, I tried to explain how the process works but one of the persons, which I assume was the manager would not even listen to me. They then decided to call someone to get it cleared out but still did not get a straight answer. I tried to show them a copy of how the new process is but the lady would not even listen to what I was trying to say. I calmly walked out of the store even though I was quite upset. Went to Bullseye Sport near by just to look at what they have, to my surprise they had the same shotgun which was $5 cheaper . I decided to buy it right away. They gave me another 10% discount and we were done with all the paper work within 10 minutes. Should've just went there Rather than waste 15minutes at big 5 for nothing read more

I have shopped several times at this location and every time that I have it's been easy and stress free. I had a really bad experience today at Sports Authority and left them very frustrated.
