Kristen and Danielle were the best!!!!! The service that they provided us was amazing. Starting out their selection of shoes, cleats, soccer balls, etc was amazing. I frantically went in with the wrong shoe size for my son that had practice in 15min with no receipt but they did their magic and found out purchase and had us running out the door with pure joy. Came to the store to exchange a pump that was broken and store did not give me a receipt I explained that to this employees and still did not want to exchange the pump, I just needed a exchange, they have cameras and could've checked but they were lazy and did not want to help me I was not even asking for my money back I just needed a pump that was not broken when I bought it. I'm not sure why this business has been here for so long. The customer service is crap the prices are terrible and even the people that work here know the prices are terrible. $4+ dollars for an old bag of trail mix!! After finally finding something reasonably priced, I was standing in line to pay behind four people and I came in jokingly said out loud "you need to open another register" (1cashier working) to a man who is dressed like the manager. He not only didn't listen -he started talking to another employee and I decided that I would just never spend money here again. I've lived in Riverside my all my life and brought my kids here for all their baseball stuff. Guess I won't be coming with my grandkids. This is how ignorant store personnel can be. I just walked in at 4:30 pm on Friday, November 10 looking for ear plugs. There was a man and woman behind the register the entire 2 or 3 minutes I was in the store. I was in their full view the entire time obviously not finding what I wanted. I was in the section where ammo and guns are sold, thinking that was the most logical place I would find what I wanted. They stood there talking while I walked out empty handed. Wow super impressed with this specific Big 5 Location. How does this place have such low reviews. I really hope that it is under new management/ownership because I was IMPRESSED with everything: product selection, on going sales & staff and management. Everything is on sale! & they actually have things that I want and need. I honestly feel like I Had TARGET experience at this location. I went in there yesterday to pick up only one Thing, and next thing I know is that I am picking up exactly what I had gone in to Big 5 for plus a Million other really cool Things. The staff was attentive, courteous and very professional given all of the Covid restrictions. But what surprised me the most was the management of the store. THANK YOU LISA for treating me and other customers (before and after me ) like real human beings. Thanks for listening to us and and helping me with all of my purchases. Showed up at the door at 825... I knew they closed at 830 but I had to run in to pick up a quick item for a kids soccer game tomorrow morning. They had already locked the door and when they saw me, they just looked at me and walked away. This stores customer service is awful. I get you don't want someone browsing for 30 minutes after the store closes but locking the door prior to it actually closing can't be the store policy. At least they could have come to the door to tell me I only had 5 minutes and make it quick but instead they just stared at me and walked away. Won't be back and will report to corporate tomorrow. read more

I just had a really good experience at this big 5, the staff was so helpful and polite, the manager made an extra effort to make sure I got the sale price. On three separate occasions I was asked if I could be helped to find something by three different associates. Noticed that all Big 5 stores have very expensive prices on golf balls. No sales at all. Golf balls is one of the most item that golfers lost while playing and stores can make a big profit if their golf balls prices are reasonable. Golf balls are considered consumable items. Store can sell them like pancakes. Big 5 economics are completely backwards. That is why many golfers purchase golf balls online or at offerup because they are way cheaper/reasonable. Poor economic strategy. When Lisa, previous manager, she gives regular customers discounts, that's why the riverside store was always packed. The present store manager is like a wall that doesn't move an inch. TERRIBLE store. NO SALES, NO DISCOUNT, then NO BUSINESS from the group. read more

Really slow lines, they require a mask unlike any grocery store, they have 6ft distancing.. it takes around 20 mins to get through the line just buying 1 product. I let the assistant manager know how awful the set up was, all he did was pass the buck onto his district manager, "my district manager was here earlier you could have told him. " like i said assistant manager, i told you.. grow a spine and own your position. Poor customer service. Employees are not familiar with the shoes/cleats displayed for sale and were not interested in assisting us to find the right cleats we were shopping for. Cashier asked me to go tell the other employee what I was looking for, he was irritated and said we don't have that size in any cleats. Not sure if he really even checked and didn't want to waste anymore time in that store. The manager appeared to not be interested in the matter. This is a mediocre store for sporting goods. It lacks the selection of a regular sporting goods store due to its small size (ironic given the name, no?). Ultimately you'd be better off going to a larger chain like Sports Authority or a different Big 5 Sporting Goods store. This one is just to small and does not offer a lot. read more

I like this location for a couple of reasons. First off, it is located in an area that's easy in, easy out with plenty of good parking available. The store itself looks a little dated, but it is clean and well organized overall. The best thing about this location is the service. Came in here with my daughter on her 7th birthday to buy all new fishing gear for us both. When I walked in 4 employees were just hanging out behind the counter talking it up, not one greeted us. No biggie I guess. As we walk by some curly headed kid gave me a dirty look, I ignored it, than about 5 minutes later he comes around the corner as if he had caught me doing something, looked at me head to toe real rude like as if I had stole something than ran off before I could ask what his problem was. Now I'm mad. But keep shopping for my daughters sake, she's excited. A couple minutes later this curly headed creep is at the end of the isle spying on me again, and he's not even good at it, it's like dude... for real?! Now I'm furious because I actually did need help and this weirdos life is focused on trying to catch me doing something. This time I yelled "Hey, you got something to say to me kid" and started walking him, it's confrontation time, of course he walks away, so I shouted "that's what I thought, and hey thanks for all your help too you creep." I put my stuff down and walked out. I swear on everything I love I was in a great mood ready for my daughters bday, and ready to drop about 400 in the store. I gave no one attitude and did not deserve his odd creepy behavior. Nor did my daughter. I called corporate to tell them of my experience and although they thought it was odd, they did nothing ultimately. I used to live near this store and have spent tons of money there. We shop at big 5 quite a bit. We camp a lot and have two kids in sports, I've literally never had a problem, but my husband usually goes with me. He sent me by myself today to pick up a new tent, they didn't really have what he wanted, but I picked one out anyway, and then went and dropped it at the campsite, I never opened it, i dropped it and left to go run a few errands and eat. I finally touched base with him and he told me to take it back so I did. The guy who took it opened it and it wasn't the tent that I had bought, he immediately started accusing me of taking it and kept telling me to return HIS tent. I stayed calm, but was upset. He said the box had been tampered with and continued to blame me. I worked in customer service for over 10 years and even when I thought the customer was lying I never blatantly accused them, I always tried to find a solution, my husband is a General Manager and does the same. My fault for giving who ever did take it the opportunity, but my problem was the way I was treated more than anything, and the way the supposed manager talked to me. You have someone who is visibly upset, not screaming or at you, but trying to talk to you, and is out over 100$ and you stand there acting like you know everything and make accusations. It makes me want to pack up everything I've bought from the company and return it. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you have to speak with someone. read more

The location is right off of other business areas so its sometimes hard to get into. Still the workers are helpful and know their stuff. Seems like it has less things yet every time I have gone I've always found what I'm looking for and more! Sadly, this Big 5 is really lacking in the customer service department. Went in to purchase wristbands that the website says were in stock. Could only find Nike and Underarmour brands. Up at the check out I asked if they had any other brands as the website said they did.... the girl just said "probably not". I was greeted upon entry but that really was it. No offer of help, even when I asked. Both the Moreno Valley and Redlands Big 5 stores offer better service, even when swamped. 4 sales people, 2 customers, no assistance. The only reason for 3 stars.... I like Big 5 overall. I doubt I will go back to this location. read more

I'm not going to lie - I come here all the time but they need to work on their attitudes before they get better than a 2 star. I managed a USSSA baseball travel team and used to run by here in a pinch, or for something cheap. First of all: you have to go to Sport's Authority, Sport's Chalet, or better Dick's Sporting Goods, if you want real quality equipment. I asked a snarky little B' of a turd here why they don't ever put the little inventory of decent bats on sale...he just shrugged. I said, "Exactly, you only put crap on sale." It's true too - really crappy baseball pants on sale stacked next to Wilson's so it looked like they were a good price (3x as much) but they were actually more than Sport's Authority. I took a pair of on-sale Airwalk shoes to the register and was informed they weren't on-sale anymore. I went back and got the tag so she had to sell them to me for 50% off - but the little PMSr didn't do it without an attitude. The guy at the knife/gun counter is cool and always ends up selling me a knife. I'm still going to come back (mostly for the knives and Airwalks) but they need to work on the little attitude HS B's and their terminal snarkiness. read more
