We come here several times per year for sporting goods. They have pretty much everything. Even w Covid going on, they still have pretty good selections of most items. Absolutely have to give a shoutout to the staff at this Big 5 -- specifically KC and Fernando. I walked in today to pickup some items from their one-day sale. As soon as I walked in, KC greeted me with a friendly smile. She asked me if there was anything I needed in particular. I told her there were several things. She had Fernando help me who walked around the store with me and picked out every single item on my list. He even searched for the color water bottle I wanted, moving several water bottles to find the aqua color for me. When I checked out, KC helped me. She explained that the items would first come up with their regular price until she scanned the coupon. When a few items came up as the wrong price, she helped me resolve the issue (which involved Fernando having to swap out a couple items; totally my fault for not specifying I wanted the 2 outlet wall plug with usb). All in all, this is the best customer service I have received in a long time! Keep it up, Big 5, and thanks to KC and Fernando. I will definitely be back. read more

If you come here around 2:30 pm you will not receive good service. I requested a shoe size and had to wait 15 minutes just to find out it didn't fit. I saw 4 employees and only 1 was helping out. 2 of the employees were flirting at the front and completely ignoring their job. And the other one was avoiding the crowd wandering off elsewhere. This Big 5 is the worst Ive been to. The dont carry as much stock or item as most store. Prices are okay on sale items but most everything else is on the pricey side. The customer service here is terrible. I was looking for a softball glove for my 10 year old daughter. I ask for assistance and this employee totally pretends to know what kind of glove we will need for her age and for the type of softball she will be playing, then I take her to her first day of practice to find out the glove is a T-ball glove and meant for 5-7 year olds. Horrible experience trying to shop at this retailer. I have purchased guns previously at another location no problem. This store refused to sell me a firearm for no reason other than I had my husband with me (for opinion, and sometimes I shop with my family)they did not even run a background check on me or him and told us they wouldnt sell it. I am well over 21 years old with a valid "real" state drivers license and proof of residency. Apparently they do not want business.i left feeling I was treated like a criminal or discrinated because I was a woman. read more

There have been many sporting goods stores in SoCal but none have stood the test of time like Big 5. The reason they are still around is because they have decent prices and excellent customer service. Their employees are very knowledgeable which is rare these days. Victor was extremely patient and answered all of my questions. Their selection is also surprising given the size of the store, they have equipment for everything from hunting to volleyball. This store has amazing employees. Like other reviews have said I was helped by Jennifer who was wonderful. My physical therapist recommended a certain type of shoe and resistance band for my ankle sprain rehab and Jennifer knew exactly the type of band and shoes I needed because she had gone through a similar injury. She offered the exact same advice as my physical therapist so I knew she knows her stuff. I hope this store knows how valuable she is because she was helping so many people and had such a positive attitude. I am for sure coming back here the next time I need shoes. read more

So on my way back home i called this location and Tess helped me on the phone. She was super nice, very sweet voice and extremely helpful. I put one star because I can't put zero stars. Every time I went to this location the service sucks. I waited over 10 minutes at the gun counter for some ammo before having to find someone to help me, after asking the girl at the front for assistance she said she would send someone to help. I waited another 10 minutes then finally the manager came over, he looked at me and asked if I needed help I said yes then he just proceeded to do paperwork without helping me or further acknowledging me. I will never go here again and I wouldn't recommend anyone else go either. There are other sporting goods stores that have excellent customer service. read more

I generally come here to get baseball and softball items for my kids and for the most part, I can find what I am looking for for a good price. I don't get sticker shock here as much as other sports places but I also know going in that for the price, and considering that I am buying seasonally (kids outgrow everything after a season half the time!) I can get more for the money here. Good for balls, jerseys, socks, and inexpensive cleats as well as for spectator stuff: chairs, stand cushions, etc. I find though that if you are looking for the higher end, top of the line brands, this is not the place.
