Trusty Big 5. When you in a pinch because you waited till the last minute for an event, you can always count on them to have something for your needs. It may not be a big store with a lot of options but they have just enough of everything to take care of your needs. Whether you're going for the current seasons sports, camping, hunting, fishing, active wear, shoes, snowboarding and many more activities, they got you covered. Yes you can go to one of the other bigger sporting goods stores but it's nice to have the small town feel/smaller store to get the basics that you need. Whenever I come here I never have any issues. Now just make sure if you need to return something you have your receipt. They will give you the store credit if you do not have a receipt.The store is always neat and organized when I walk in. There is always a nice sale on something. Customer service is good. read more

Worst Customer Service! I am very disappointed with the way the manager runs the store. I stopped today 09/23/2025 about 12:10 PM to shop for trail shoes, I found a sketcher shoes that did not have a box, size 13, and marked as $44(Clearance). I went to the cashier, a friendly young black lady to pay for it, I had a coupon with me for 10% off even on clearance items, the friendly young cashier apparently is new and does not have much of experience in handling coupons, she asked the manager of the store about how to handle the transaction. The manager of the store told the cashier not to accept the coupon, I asked the manager for the reason of not accepting the coupon, and the manger told me that the coupon is not valid for clearance items! The coupon stated that clearance items get 10% off. I guess the manager of the store want to show the friendly young cashier that she is the one with the ego and her say is the final word. I am puzzled, all the cashier had to do was to ring the sale, and to scan the coupon to see if the computer will process the 10% off, it does not need a genius! I am very disappointed, the young cashier is not properly trained to execute a simple transaction, and a female manager that put her ego on top of everything instead of seeing what is best for the store, and that is to SELL, and what is best for customers and that is to BUY. Good Customer Service. I basically called all of Moreno Valley looking for hand warmers. They were sold out literally everywhere , but good ole trusty big 5 I called and spoke with Dave. He went out on the floor and searched for the hand warmers and found some for me. I came in a bit before closing to pick them up and he got them for me in no time. They told me they opened at 11 on the phone yesterday.I get there at 10 And they tell me they changed there hours and opened at 10 ???? And the pools were sold out that's why I called before ! Came here to buy a shotgun and i had to call the same associate EVERY single time i want to see the prices or have a question about it or about bullets. I'd ask the guy the question he'd answer it and leave and when i tell another associate the situation she does nothing and i came to here a second time and asked her where he went he keeps leaving and she was like he went to help another customer! RUDE RUDE RUDE workers! I was checking out at the cashier. While waiting, a cashier guy was walking on the phone. I think someone asked him about prices. He briefly told them the lowest and highest price and hang up. After he hang up the phone, he started whining to the other cashier girl and telling her sustainers like this are annoying, they could have just come into the store instead. The girl was agreeing to him while checking out our item. The whole process of checking out was them talking. We politely said "thank you,and bye" to the girl. An amazing deal on the Mossberg 500 dual barrel deal was too good to pass up. The Mossberg special was a 12 gauge with a security 18.5" security barrel and a hunting 28" barrel with a vented rib, both have a simple contrasting front bead sight. It does not have any rear sight but it is pre-tapped to accept any sight you would want to place there. You cannot beat the advertised price in the ad and it was in stock. If you are used to the registration process, it was expeditiously completed and was a pleasant experience- unlike some other retailers that have excessively large fish tanks in their store. Rude workers. I asked a question about a canopy, the lady advised me something I knew to be wrong. that all Canopies are the same! Some I know you have to assemble each time you put up. Because of the great price of this 10x10 canopy, and none displayed I wanted to make sure. I asked if I can pull it out to see it before I purchased without setting it up. The lady continued to speak for me at times speaking over me and was making facial expressions . Couldn't believe the Costumer service. I expect this from other stores but not from Big 5! read more

I had the same great experience at the Moreno Valley Big 5 as I did the Chino Big 5! Helpful and friendly clerk and I felt as though the appreciated my business. Again the same problem last week. Only $2.75 left on the gift card and since I had all I needed I asked for it to be cashed out. They said can not do and even the manager said the new computer will not allow. I said it is state law to close out less then $10 if asked. Sent email to corp. and they called the shop and gave instructions on how to cash out gift cards. Had to go back which is what I didn't want to do to start with. Awful place. Went in to grab some snorkel gear for a trip. Pick out the one I'd like and there's 3 different sales signs right about all the gear. Well I go to purchase it and was told it's not on sale. Understaffed and can't find anyone to help you, had to wait in a line for a while to get help at the front counter and then was told to knock at a door in the back next time to get help with cleats?? Excuse me? How would I know to do that and why should I have to do that in the first place? Please do NOT ever go to this store in Moreno Valley and use a credit or debit card, as they will temporarily take your money. I purchased soccer gear for my children. A customer service rep (whose communication skills were very poor) took my card and charge came to $92.52, then the transaction canceled and she told me to re-insert my card as they were having problems with their machine. I asked if I would be charged and is she sure the transaction was canceled, she promised me 3 times that I would not be charged. She then ran the transaction again, I was charged $119.00 and the charge went through. Well, when I got home I looked online and I was charged the $92.52. I went back to the Big 5 in Moreno Valley and was told that I could not get a refund because they did not see the charge and to call the corporate office. The next day I informed the manager that he should call, as Big 5 took my money. The manager called and informed that I would be granted a refund and that I am not the only customer this has happened too. Not sure if Big 5 are holding funds to make their financial books look good or to bolster their numbers, but they are taking money. I suggest you pay in cash. The service (with the exception of the male manager) is very rude, they steal and it is awful (especially the female manager that sits at the register she's rude to all children, and snap at your children) I suggest if you have this problem, call the Better Business Bureau and demand to speak to corporate. I will be putting my concerns in writing. read more

6-13-16 at approximately 6:00 PM visit to Moval's Big 5 reminded me why I shop elsewhere. Poor customer service . Sales person left me at the counter saying that she would be back in a few minutes. Ten minutes turned into fifteen minutes as I looked at the products on the shelves When I Turned to locate the sales person I spotted her at the cashier station waiting on another customer While talking on the phone and avoiding eye contact with me for another five minutes. I would have waited had she made some gesture of acknowledgement or walked back to say she would tied up for awhile. Poor customer and interpersonal communications. read more

It's fine, not one of Big 5's better location but it does the job in a pinch. The location is smaller than the Magnolia, Riverside store. I went in last week to get my usual tennis shoes and they were out! Had to go to freakin wally world instead (can you say uck.....) Oh well. Went to pay for my purchase and clerk said my card declined. Told clerk to try it again, but it declined a second time. I logged into my banking app on my phone and not only did I have more than enough for my purchase, but I was charged twice from Big 5. Clerk called the manager who was incredibly rude and incompetent. She looked like somebody's red headed step child that pretty much hates life and enjoys making her customers upset. Goes to show the poor quality of training and talent this company has to offer. I understand that computer/POS glitches happen, but your management should be apologetic and providing an explanation as to why or how it happened, and how your going to resolve it. Maybe learn some basic manners and work on your conflict resolution skills. Pretend you care about the situation. Pretend you are capable of finding a solution. These are very basic managerial skills. I shouldn't have to tell you how to do your job. No give me my fucking money back. read more
