The bartenders and owners are really fantastic. They make a point to introduce themselves to everyone in the establishment. Everyone is made to feel special. Great music and darts. An authentic Irish pub. We live one block away so it is our local. I did notice that some regulars tend to keep to themselves but overall a friendly crowd. Came for trivia night on a Thursday. I think it starts promptly around 9:00PM. They award a round of shots for the most creative team name and a bar tab for the winning team. They had a good set of trivia questions organized by rounds/categories and not overly challenging or easy (some bars I've been to have had multiple choice or yes/no answer questions). The host we had was prompt and funny. The trivia was not that distracting for those who just wanted a drink and chat either. Decent neighborhood spot to grab a pint and catch up with friends, but given it's size, not ideal for large groups. read more

Awesome neighborhood pub that I'd been meaning to check out since it's about a two minute walk from my apartment. It is teeny tiny inside- smaller than I expected, but that adds to the charm I think. The mixed drinks are big (as in served in pint glasses- just how I like it) and the atmosphere is very relaxed. This place is a small, divey Irish pub on a quiet side street, but it plays its part perfectly. The same bartender is there every night and knows names, brings drinks on the house, etc. Perfectly decorated for whatever holiday is in season. Drinks are cheap. And then there is the Thursday night trivia. The usually quiet bar fills up Thursdays around 9-9:30 as everyone grabs a table for Mad Tim's trivia. It's a blast! The questions are tough and the competition is fierce, but it's always a good time. They give out shots for the best team name, and the winner gets 50% off their bar tab. I'm my Tour of the Dives of the Upper East Side, I found Biddys. The trip to this town tavern lasted about ten minutes. While some may say that its not long enough to take in the ambiance of this local hideaway, but it was for me. The beer was average and the bar was well stocked. This place is average, dark and gloomy. The bartender was chipper and amusing and definitely looked like the guy could keep a secret. Stop by this spot if you are ducking the cops or your ex, trust me no one will find you. read more

I've been here twice, I think, and each time I stayed much later than I should have. The reasons for the extended visits are easy: cheap booze, cosy vibe, and darts. I'm a beer geek so for me the selection sucks; but I'm not a beer snob, so I didn't mind drinking Bud American and PBR. Heck, I even did a shot here. The clientele is certainly the unpretentious, salt-of-the-earth crowd. The bartender was quite gregarious and I think he comped us a round or two. And the darts - oh! - the darts. I can think of few better ways to pass the wee small hours of the morning than chucking projectiles at a wall. I just love it. Biddy's also has a trail mix snack machine where you can get a small handful of nuts, raisins and chocolate pieces for a quarter. As people have noted, Biddy's is not a destination bar. The times I went here were at the end of the night when a friend said, "Hey, how about we go to Biddy's?" I have very fond memories of this small, neighborhood pub and would happily return. read more

This bar is only two block from my apartments and it took me over two years to stop by. On our first visit I fell in love. It's a small bar with friendly bar tenders and reasonable prices. We usually hit up the Gael Pub on Tuesdays, but lately is has gotten really crowded, and it is expensive since there are no drink specials. This is one of my favorite little hidden away spots. It never seems to have any of the usual 2am riff raff. Yes they have Guinness and a good amount of top brands. Biddy's is not a club. It is not a place you can go on Saturday night with a big group of people and party it up with your bros, popped collar in one hand and Jagerbomb in the other. If the opposite of what I've just described sounds like your kind of thing, and I suspect it is because you can read, you will love Biddy's. It's a tiny little pub with a neighborhood clientele and local vibe. Chances are, nine out of ten of the people in Biddy's have been there before. You want to be that tenth person! The atmosphere at Biddy's is why you're there. It's not so loud that you have to shout to have a conversation with the other customers, with whom you definitely should chat it up. The walls are heavily stocked with Irish memorabilia and other odds and ends, some of which are, listed in no particular order, a rusty tuba; road signs; coffee mugs, and much more. The bartenders at Biddy's are a delight; they are Irish, they are charming, and they can serve more people with fewer people than I have ever seen before. One particularly hectic night saw Perry single-handedly serve fifty thirsty patrons, like some kind of freaking bartending octopus. Biddy's gets special points in my book for hosting trivia every Thursday night, from about 9:30 to 11:30. Topics seem to focus on movies and current events so, if those sound like your cups of tea, go forth to victory! The competition is fierce, however, and if my team is there, you should probably not waste your time. You can recognize us by the trail of destruction we leave behind us and our rugged good looks. First prize takes home 40% off of their bar tab, and the best team name will net you a free round of shots. The drink selection is very limited, but very, VERY well priced. Beers run between 4 and 6 dollars a pint; I recommend the Biddy's Ale, a nice dark beer with a light malt with just the right amount of toastiness. Liquor selections are pretty standard. Well drinks abound, as well as some nicer bottles, but nothing really extravagant. The shots that I've gotten at Biddy's are a bit light on the alcohol, and their interpretation of mixed drinks seems to heavily favor the "mixed" portion (heavy on the mixers) so I would recommend sticking with beer. They have seven or eight draft pours and about an equivalent number of bottles. Five stars. Biddy's is very, very good for what it is, but it's important to recognize that you're going to a neighborhood pub, not a wild party bar. If an evening of sipping inexpensive brews and playing games of drunken Connect Four, which I now highly endorse after having first tried it at Biddy's, sounds like your thing, you are probably a cool person and should probably go get some drinks at Biddy's. Be careful here. Pay cash only or avoid the place altogether. They have fraudulently charged my debit card twice. Once they put a transaction through when I wasn't even there (the last time I was there I wrote down my card info because the machine was down. I should have known better). Another time, the bartender added a "1" in front of my $5 tip in order to give himself a $15 tip. When I confronted him about it after reviewing my statement he stammered apologies and did not even check to see if he screwed up, but gave me a credit for the bar... He was completely guilty. I used to enjoy going here, but I will never be returning after this last time. The bartenders may be charismatic and fun, but they are thieves nonetheless. read more

Tiny is NOT the word. My friends and I walked in and were completely disappointed. I swear, we walked in and immediately hit the back wall. We went there for trivia night because we thought it would be fun. There was nowhere to sit. The bar seats about 8 people max, and i think I saw two tall tables that fit about two each. As far as the trivia, the questions weren't bad but since it was so crowded it kinda took away from the fun. Two of my friends actually left mid game because they needed air. Also, there was this one team that was super annoying. They must have been friends with the bartenders or something because they got 10/10 on almost every round. Basically the point that I'm trying to make is that I won't be back. read more

Biddy's is a small neighborhood bar just off of 2nd Avenue. It's refreshingly calm and a good place to sit and visit, especially compared to some of the sports bars in the neighborhood (i.e. every other bar in the UES). I had a really great time at this cute little neighborhood bar last night. Met some friends there - and made new ones! It's a cozy little place with photo hunt, a juke box, and hot toddies :) I enjoyed listening to Beck and MGMT when we first got there, by the end of the night the drunk patrons had taken over the juke box. At one point, the entire bar was all dancing to "Shout" together - which was pretty awesome :) Darts were fun, as well as connect four. The bartender was especially nice - the place really makes you feel like your walking into someones home and hanging out with all of your closest friends. read more

I believe Biddy's is the smallest bar in the city. Don't quote me on that but the entire bar is about 20x30 feet. Still they manage to have two bathrooms, multiple LCD TV's, a dart board, a video gaming machine, a digital jukebox, and a bunch of tables and booths. They obviously don't do food but don't mind you getting stuff delivered. The beer selection is decent and so are their prices. I really enjoyed their low key dive bar vibe. I didn't inquire about the offer but I did see a partially ripped poster in the back that said you drink free on your birthday. It's not exactly a destination bar if you don't live in the area but it's a great little friendly dive bar if you do. read more

I don't know how I've lived on the Upper East Side for four years and haven't gone here until about a month ago. This place is an absolute hidden gem. I went for trivia a few Thursdays ago and have gone back every Thursday since. Biddy's is super tiny, but that's all part of the appeal (at least for me). It's cozy and a great Thursday neighborhood spot, especially on cold nights. If you want to get a table for Thursday trivia, go early - the place is pretty packed by 8:30 for a 9:00 start. Also, bring food. Biddy's doesn't sell food, but you can bring it in from outside which is great (Delizia's is right around the corner). They also have $3 PBR cans, which is ALWAYS a win in my book. read more

I live above this pub we call it our, "second living room." Cozy Irish pub with attentive bartenders (Gavin and Darraugh). Great spot for locals and also out-of-towners because of the incredibly friendly atmosphere. Two basic TV's but you will definitely be able to talk to the person next to you (encourage by the bartenders with introductions) and meet new people or just have a nice, chill time. Good music but not too loud. Prices are about average for the neighborhood; Buds are five dollars; eight dollar shots for whiskey. Bingo on Wednesday's and trivia on Thursday's. I'm actually writing this from the bar with a couple in me, so forgive me if this went on long, highly recommend if your in the neighborhood. read more

This is possibly the tiniest, kitschiest, most bizarre and fantastic bar ever. It's the type of place that leaves you speechless. It's the kind of place you just get sucked into. Outside, it's totally unremarkable, and on a rather unexpected, residential block of 91st, and inside it's just as unusual, festooned with random wall decorations from a bike to road signs to the teacups that designate the men's and women's restrooms. As if the decor weren't entertainment enough there is a juke box that pretty consistently plays great music, darts in the corner. We were in NYC for the weekend and eventually had enough of the $15 drinks along the Times Square region where we were staying. I stumbeled along into Biddys after a long night of adult beverages with friends and walked into a cool ass little bar that was nowhere near where we were staying. This place and bartender were great. The bartender welcomed me with a handshake, a cold beer, and a game of Connect Four at the bar. Along with this, the music was solid and the people were cool. I got into a pretty serious conversation with a local New York Football Giants fan out front about how D-Nabb at the Eagles would be tearing up Manning the next day. When I make my way back to the city...This place will be a must stop for me. Seriously a great little pub. read more
