This place is truly an escape. The energy is beautiful and the smoothies are to-die-for.

I adore Biddle's and always will! I lived half a block away for a year and probably went five times a week. They offer coconut milk, which is by far the nicest cow's milk replacement in espresso drinks. The croissants are the best I've had since being in Italy and always sold out early on the weekends. Another standout offering is the wide variety of double decker sandwiches they make in-house. The hummus/red pepper/feta/artichoke heart sandwich on olive bread is to die for. Aside from the food and drinks, there is an awesome patio for the warmer days and the staff are all incredibly sweet and friendly. Going there was always a pleasure. I still miss living near Biddle's. Crazy Mocha doesn't quite cut it. read more

This place was fantastic! I had an Almond Frappe and my friend who I was with had a Frozen Strawberry Lemonade, both of which were delicious. I like the unique atmosphere of this place, although I felt that it was a bit crowded - you could tell this was a well liked place! The outdoor seating was nice, the staff was friendly, and the people there were friendly as well. For a college kid like myself, it was nice to go to a non-chain coffee shop and get some work done. I will definitely be back here every chance I get! read more

What a selection! What an atmosphere! How Amazing!!!! Biddle's is a great little find with lots of personality. A HUGE selection of loose leaf teas and coffee! Beads and pinball and great tables. They are super welcoming to groups and have a wonderful outside space for when the weather is warm! read more

Spacious venue with ample seating both outside, inside and upstairs. The coffee and regular food are pretty good. They've chosen to go with the "mostly vegan" route with the pastries. If you're into that, then this is your place. If not, then you're not likely to find very good pastries to go with your coffee. read more

Well the brunch does not come with a drink anymore...to be honest the amount of food does not worth $10. Go to square cafe instead.

This is my family favorite place. Lovely staff, great coffee! Always something to view on the walls.

If you are looking for a coffee shop like no other, Biddle's Escape is where your search will end. Nestled in an unexpected residential area, this quirky cafe is truly escape-worthy. If you need busy people around to inspire you to work, you can choose to sit on the downstairs floor; if nature is your thing, the huge outdoor patio will welcome you, and if you feel like hiding from society, head up to the second floor with its study tables and chairs. The drink selection is unparalleled and the lattes are heavenly. I think the best thing about Biddle's, though, is the atmosphere. The employees are upbeat and love their jobs, and the colorful, artsy feel is always inspirational. It's a great place for study sessions, first dates, deep conversations, or just a great cup of coffee. read more

I'll start with their coffee; it is excellent. I'll proceed to their Italian Sodas; they are excellent. Continuing its the espresso drinks I will use the same superlative. I have not had the Cannoli yet but am looking forward to trying one. The baristas are all very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is perfect. There is a beautiful deck outside with trees, a garden and metal dinosaurs! Also of note is the consistently good Wi-Fi, and good selection of board games if you want to stick around and leisurely enjoy your drink(s). Another unique feature is the bead shop located within and a nice mix of artwork including the numerous Buddha statues blissfully inhaling the aroma of the coffee A really great place! read more

I ordered the iced lavender latte and it did not disappoint! They have a large selection of flavors so you can get very creative! They have some trendy stickers by the register so make sure to stop in and take a look! read more

This place has such a wide variety of everything I love it! Today I had the Pumpkin Chai Tea and holy smokes, amazing. It tastes like fall in a cup and my only regret is getting a small (should've went for the large). I also got a blueberry muffin that was so fresh and a perfect accompaniment with my Chai Tea. The service was great and I hardly had to wait for my drink to be ready. They were busy, but you couldn't tell. Everything was smooth and done just right. Also love the atmosphere. They have a big space, but they've made it so cozy and the overhead music isn't too loud, it's really a great place. Can't wait to go back and try more of their menu :) read more

I've lived in Pittsburgh the vast majority of my life and I've spent a giant amount of that time in coffee shops (because I work from my laptop) and folks, this is by far my favorite coffee shop in town and I regard it as one of the best things about living in Wilkinsburg / Regent Square. First of all, their drink menu is far broader, higher quality, and more inventive than other places in town. Pittsburgh loves flavored lattes (as I learned when I worked at the Carnegie Coffee Shop, another great spot) -- but Biddle's Escape really goes above and beyond in that arena. As in: their flavored lattes don't just use sugar syrup. The ginger-curry flavored lattes here use homemade flavor preparations with - get this - actual curry and actual ginger. It's super-good. More majorly rad things about Biddle's, in no particular order: 1. They have pinball machines. Lordy, I love Pinball. The only other coffee shop in town that's better for Pinball is Kickback in Lawrenceville, but they're a dedicated pinball cafe, let's remember. 2. The decor is friendly, spacious, fun and leading towards tropical South East Asian-style. The owner has a collection of exotic masks and buddha statues livening the place up. 3. The outdoor deck: in the spring, summer, and early fall the deck at Biddle's is a leafy, lively, elegant haven full of puppies and a happy, diverse crowd of neighborhood folks of all generations and races. 4. The community-centeredness of the place -- on Wednesday night they bring in food trucks and the Steel City Ukele club practices on the deck - about 25 ukelele players just strumming away. Very adorable. Also, they have an events list with a full dock of games nights, readings, local musicians. 5. The herbs - they package and sell a huge variety of herbs and herbal teas. Including herbal-tea-fruit popsicles from local HealCrest farms. 6. The music - these baristas (in addition to being sweet and good-natured despite the busy-ness of the spot) have refined taste. When I get stuck needing to go into a Crazy Mocha for my caffeine fix (used be pretty rad - but I don't know, I guess my tastes have matured, I avoid Crazy Mochas these days) and they're playing just a local pop radio station complete with tons of obnoxious ads it's a bit hard to take. At Biddle's I regularly hear mixes of Johnny Cash, Regina Spektor, soulful hip-hop, Bob Dylan, Belle and Sebastian, the Shins. 7. The food - they've got a small but solidly satisfying offering of grilled sandwiches, salads, soups and smoothies. In short - I just super-love Biddle's and I was excited to hear that they're expanding to the upstairs. read more

A favorite in Regent Square / Wilkinsburg. I come here nearly every week to meet friends or study! Love the patio.

Love coming here, especially meeting friends, catching up. Special orders NEVER fluster them. In lots of ways I feel transported back to San Fran and the 70's. read more

I will start off by saying that I really love the vibe and decor of this place. My first experience there was great, second time not so much. Ordered a sea salt caramel iced latte and while the first few sips tasted extra salty, I expected it to dissipate over time/after the ice had melted. The salt became so extreme that I had to leave half of the drink in the container. This wasn't just an extra dash of salt, one could see about a teaspoon of salt just hanging out in the bottom of the cup. I think this what more than my daily allowance. I ordered to go and had someplace to The be, so couldn't really go back, but ease up on the salt. read more

Guy barista has shown up late multiple times that I've visited with no apologies to the lonely barista serving a full Cafe. He and another barista in particular could care less about customers. Every time I order a smoothie, he acts like it's the end of the world and you'd think this is slave labor with the way he reacts to making a smoothie. I know it takes a little more effort than pouring a coffee but damn he has no work ethic. If I were the owner I'd be very disappointed. read more

A welcoming neighborhood gem that's well suited to relaxing with a book, working, or meeting up with a few friends. Come to Biddle's Escape for the experience and maybe the coffee. While Biddle's drinks are good, the best thing about Biddle's Escape is sitting out on the cafe's beautiful deck in comfy seating, chatting with friends. My go to drink is the chai latte with soy milk--you have to be careful, however, that the right person makes it. Sometimes it's on the very sweet side. read more

My first visit was last Saturday during the Regent Square community yard sale. They were PACKED and the service was surprisingly quick. My coffee was nice and strong and everyone was super friendly. It's a place that begs you to sit down and stay awhile. And I will. read more

Great place to work. The coffee is above average, could steam their milk better, not just foam it. The upper level gets cold though, not well heated so take your hoodie if you're going to stay a while. read more

Biddle's Escape is THE haven for artists, musicians and healing practitioners as well as students and people just trying to chill or get some work done!! The variety of coffee and drinks available is refreshing and I absolutely LOVE the feel and atmosphere of this cafe. The baristas are awesome too!!!! ~ read more

Nice coffeeshop--the coffee itself is good, the seating is suitable, and the decor is fun. The food is made off-site; it is reasonably priced. It's a good neighborhood coffeeshop. read more

This is a lovely little shop that's easy to get to, but just enough off the beaten path that it rarely seems crowded. It's just a peaceful place, with a good amount of open space and bit of a New Age or Granola feel. I had a nice big coffee, an outlet for my laptop, and a delicious oatmeal raisin cookie, all for about four bucks -- and since Biddle's uses Square, I didn't even have to worry about having cash. It's a great place to sit down, collect your thoughts, and take an hour off from the world. read more

I certainly didn't feel welcomed. I tipped but that didn't seem to help either. Coffee was less than average. I liked the decor inside and out but nothing else. Even the brownies were uneatable! Really let down despite such positive reviews! read more

I am obsessed with this little oasis. I stumbled upon Biddle's Escape while apartment hunting, and I've never looked back. It's easily one of my favorite places to catch up with friends, enjoy a latte, or just get some work done. I'm not sure if Biddle's Escape is in Wilkinsburg or Regent Square, but the neighborhood itself is lovely with lots of trees and beautiful homes. It's definitely a local joint. The earthy and eclectic decor of the cafe helps give Biddle's a lot of character, which juxtaposes the usual sleek minimalist look that you can find at your typical coffee place. For example, there's a wide selection of herbal teas on the back wall along with 3 vintage pinball machines, African masks, and Cambodian sculptures. The coffee itself is delicious with a HUGE variety of selections. The baristas really know their shit and are very helpful and polite. The cafe also has some tasty pastries, which you can enjoy indoors or outdoors depending on your preference. If you're looking for lunch or dinner, Biddle's also offers paninis, which I have yet to try, and on Wednesdays, local food trucks serve their goods. All in all, I'm a huge fan of Biddle's Escape and find it very relaxing. Definitely make sure to check this place out if you're in the area! read more

Hello to my new favorite hidden gem! Tucked back in a cute neighborhood behind regent square is this secret little coffee shop filled with wonders. I spent a few hours outside on my laptop (how often do you get to plug into an outlet on a deck of a coffee shop) and enjoyed every minute. From a whale's vertebrae holding up the ipad checkout to a bead store in the back, this is truly an escape. Check out their events such as the ukulele nights or acoustic shows. Oh, and they are open late for all of us 9-5er to check out. This is my new fav coffee shop in the burgh! read more

What a lovely space. The five stars are for the patio alone--I couldn't have picked a better spot to enjoy a beautiful, sunny summer morning studying (with a little bit of people watching thrown in for good measure). I tried the French toast latte, which was delicious and not too too sweet. The tea selection was out of this world--am very much looking forward to returning for this come fall (or sooner!). Biddle's is definitely worth the trip. read more

Love this little genuine neighborhood coffee house. You will probably find me studying here, when I finally complete my move to Pittsburgh.

Nothing to hate about this place. It's a decent place to work, nice indoor and outdoor spaces with a sort of hipster ambiance. You'll feel weird rolling up in there with a suit and tie to get some work done, it's kinda like that. My beef with them is that their coffee just doesn't taste great. If coffee taste is a priority in your coffee shop decisions, this is not the spot. I also had an almond croissant that dude told me was supposed to best in the city. Nah, couldn't be. read more

A true jem! I love the huge outdoor seating. It's also in the middle of a quiet residential neighborhood, so very nice outdoor ambiance. There's also a wide variety of drinks available. read more

I love this coffee shop-people are friendly and it's right by my house. It's such a beautiful thing to have good coffee nearby! I personally just drink drip and iced coffee, so can't attest to their espresso drinks. I appreciate they have a few sections for purchasing items from local artists and/or activists and changing wall art. I only wish the breakfast menu hadn't changed! I used to love the more affordable options-not that things are outrageously priced now. I just can't as easily justify spending $7-$8 on a breakfast sandwich, so I eat at home instead-boring ;) Also-would be nice if you had the option to tip on their payment system when you pay with a card-I hate not being able to tip cuz I don't have cash! read more

It's ok. First time customer and they got my order wrong. Waited over 20 mins. Finally got my order and had to add sugar to a latte? No way. Not going again. read more

Their smoothies are great. You get up to two choices of fruit--I went with the 4berry and the peach--plus a choice of mixer, ranging from orange juice to soy milk to almond milk. They also have some great indie music playing, and it's a nice place to either relax or work on a warm sunny day. read more

Five stars for a coffee shop that can legitimately be called a community space. It's kind of place where the events bulletin board is overflowing, where a craft trinket vending machine doesn't seem out of place. There's a quiet and spacious room (that no one seems to know about) upstairs in case the patio and main space are crowded. read more

Definitely a nice cafe. But that's it. I honestly don't get what the hullabaloo is all about. I can only surmise the 5-star reviews are simply a reaction to its inadequate competitor Katerbean. In this regard, it is far superior. But on its own, compared to the rest of the cafes I've visited, it seem just slightly above average. The drinks I've had are average at best. Their limited selection of pastries, snacks and food doesn't appeal to me. The overall vibe/decor is a bit dingy and cluttered, like I'm at my pack-rat grandma's old house. The seating is extremely uncomfortable and a bit cramped. Because the owner permits dogs inside, I've been licked and bumped while sipping my coffee. I've had to climb over strollers just to get a drink. The service is slow, even when there's no one there. The staff are all pleasant enough, but none seem too excited to be there. Everyone seems to love the deck. Not sure why. Being outside is nice, so there's that, but... There aren't enough tables out there for one thing. And again, the seating isn't comfortable. But despite all of these things, I still find this cafe endearing. It is filled with real people, interesting people, talking about interesting things. It feels familiar, which in this case is a good thing. I don't live down the street, so it's not my "neighborhood" cafe so to speak. I do however love the location, nestled in a beautiful, quaint, residential neighborhood with parking always available nearby. I definitely recommend the location to others and will happily return. read more

It was a sorprise to find this beautiful coffee shop there. Amazing neighborhood, intersting decoration and good coffee
