I've heard a lot about this little place. Yes, it's pretty and the food is very tasty. My friend and I split two mains; the open faced bacon and salad sandwich with pesto mayo and the spinach and wild mushroom quiche with side salad. The food was fresh and beautifully dressed. I have no complaints. Except I shouldn't have had the peanut butter and chocolate brownie, because 1) it has peanut butter. I don't like peanut butter 2) it was way too rich for me. This is a great spot for Sunday brunch ;-) The location is great, central but quiet area (I think of Portobello as a posh mans Stoneybatter). There are a few tables outside, so perfect on a sunny day. I was here early on a Sunday and it was very busy, so there may be a little wait for a table. I got the granola with yogurt and berries to start. I got the small serving, but I wouldn't have wanted it to be any bigger, It was really good and super sweet! For mains I got eggs benedict which were great, I really can't fault them. At €13 for both, it was well worth the money. The service was excellent, the staff was very friendly. read more

Finally got here for brunch! Maybe I just ordered the wrong dish but I wasn't blown away with the food at this place. I ordered the French toast and it wasn't out of this world. The place itself is nice and cosy. They have jars of water nicely arranged on each table with mint leaves and cucumber I think it was which was a really nice touch. I found the service to be a bit slow. Really had to get their attention to order at first, and again when I wanted the bill. This place gets a lot of good hype, but I just wasn't feeling it. Maybe it was just an off day. All in an thigh, it wasn't terrible and it is local for me so I would probably try this place again. read more

This place is sort of a hidden gem, I feel slightly like I should be keeping quiet about it for fear of not getting a table when I go back next... rather like the last review, actually! I've lived nearby for a couple of years, but I only found Bibi's when some family from America were over to visit, and I've been back myself since. The style and decor of the place is great, helped by the big windows and plenty of light (even on a rainy day); the crockery and heavy iron teapots are lovely; the brownies are rich and tasty. I feel very confortable sitting and reading here, the whole atmosphere's really pleasant. But the two best things? The bathroom (bit weird, I know, but anywhere with a pristine bathroom and fancy soap is instantly a winner for me)... and the service, as happy and friendly as it comes. read more

This is one of those cafés that can turn your day around, especially if you're as partial to lovely design as you are to scrummy food. On the food front, the menu is short but varied and inventive. The Turkish eggs are magic, the pan-toasted sandwiches are just the job if you're feeling a bit morning-aftery, the brownies are homemade, rich and always top notch. The chef here gets kicks from putting unexpected flavours together, and it's never gone wrong for me anyway. The look of the place inside and out is very Scandinavian-goes-to-New-York, lovely furnishings, paintwork and props, nice and airy and curious. You can sit outside at any time of year depending on your own perennial hardiness. Inside there's a choice of a buzzier spot near the kitchen or the calmer room where the clothes shop used to be. Only slight quibble is the coffee: tends to be on the weak side, so go double espresso rather than americano if you want a decent hit. read more

Bibis cafe seemed to me like a little secret jewel hidden away in the Portobello area. But after entering I was not that sure about the secret part of it anymore as it was completely packed and such a buzz going through for a Sunday early afternoon. We had to wait a few moments before being seated so I took my time to admire this little cottage style interior and the busy open kitchen. Their menu looked amazing and I spotted some yummy gf option and fresh cold fresh juices straight away- only downside as we came in way too late for a Sunday most of their items were sold out already. Nevertheless we found a yummy selection of scones, gf treats, French toasts, coffee and juices so we all were happy out. Only note to ourselves and for other people who would like to enjoy the whole menu skip the lazy lay in over the weekend, get up in time head down to Bibis for breakfast or early brunch and go for a stroll along the canal afterwards and the grumpy feeling of getting up early is forgotten in no time ;) read more

The service here is amongst the worst that I've ever encountered in Dublin. From the moment that we were seated, we were an inconvenience. We were told that there was no butternut squash left, when we ordered it, yet the table next to us ordered it literally two minutes later! Had we been informed that we would have to wait a few minutes in order for the squash to be replenished, then we would have waited - we were given no option. We couldn't get anyone's attention so that we could change our order, despite a girl hovering around, us waving frantically and repeatedly saying "excuse me". The beans that we settled for tasted of nothing other than smoked paprika and lemon - and the beans were undercooked. We couldn't get a single server's attention in order to inform them that the dish was inedible. Two bites were taken from it. When the plates were cleared and the server (the third one we encountered during our visit), we were able to tell him that the beans were not satisfactory, that we had wanted the squash that the table next to us had ordered two minutes after we had been told there was none, and that we would like the bill - he told us that he would speak to the manager, yet the bill arrived within thirty seconds with the beans on it. We then had to explain the situation to another member of staff! The inedible bean dish was eventually removed without any apologies. All in all, it was a terrible brunch experience. There was a reason that I hadn't returned here for years - it's terrible. A completely over hyped place and astonishingly busy. My advice is to go elsewhere. read more

After reading a lot of reviews I went here over the weekend and had to wait 20min but the staff were amazing and didnt mind waiting. My breakfast was good but not great and this was due to the poached eggs were overcooked. Also the coffee wasnt great. this is why I am only giving them 3 stars, they need to improve on their coffee and poached eggs as my friends eggs were overcooked as well. read more

Eggs benedict craving to Bibi's I went. I ordered the poached eggs on a toasted muffin with wilted spinach and hollandaise and added bacon. Expecting the gooey goodness of popping a poached egg it was to my disappointment cooked through. On my second visit, I ordered the same but specified a nice gooey egg. The poachies were indeed gooey but the hollandaise sauce was ice cold. Having given Bibi's the benefit of the doubt by returning a second time, sadly I do not think I'll be returning for a third visit to satisfy my eggs benedict craving. read more

it's probably lovely. but they've never let me in. i don't think i fit the look they want. I had arrived a few times in busy periods where they said they were full, even though i saw empty seats. so i tried again twice, on off-peak periods, and was told it was full, even though it clearly wasnt, and when i said that there were lots of seats i was told it was all reserved. which was bollocks unless a coach load of people were on the way. so yea, never been. im not a scruffy knacker, i just think the place is probably quite posh and they only want up market customers. read more
