I got the beer battered haddock with potato pancakes and both my wife and kids all got plain cheeseburgers with fries. We also shared mozzarella sticks and cheese curds. The mozzarella sticks are generic and taste like the kind you can get from Arby's or Walmart's hot deli bar. The cheese curds were also generic, but good. Both are cheap price wise compared to other restaurants, but you subsequently don't get a ton of curds given the low price. Six mozzarella sticks wasn't unreasonable. The cheeseburger was ok. It didn't have much, if any, seasoning, but at least had some char flavor. The fries weren't very crispy and were both bland and unsalted. The beer battered haddock (which I sadly forgot to take a picture of) only had two pieces for $15 and was some of the most disappointing fish I've had. I didn't care for the flavor of the breading and it was overcooked, so the breading was slightly burned and the fish was dry. The potato pancakes consisted of five or six small hashbrown circles. Though small, they were good. They were quite busy inside while we were there, so it took about 45 minutes to get our appetizers and an hour to get our entrees. The patio area is nice and offers shade in the evening. It was a cool night temperature wise, so a pleasant experience during our long wait. The inside was loud and the dining area isn't huge so I'm glad we sat outside.

Let me tell you what I think is right about the place. Kelly is a great bartender, loads of personality and very attentive. There is a small dining area but we opted for the bar because it's too hard for people facing south in a booth with the television on the north wall. We ordered fried mushrooms for an appetizer, a cheeseburger from the menu and a teriyaki salmon sandwich that was a special. Kelly brought us two bar tables that fit perfectly over the rail and provide a flat surface for our dishes. The order of deep fried mushrooms came very quickly and very hot. The basket contained more mushrooms than I'm used to seeing in an appetizer basket, yay! The teriyaki sauce was wonderful and soaked into a soft bun. The salmon seemed a bit dry but was very flavorful. The burger was huge, the fried onions was a slice of red onion that had been grilled, I never saw that before. The burger was reported to be very good. We left at the half, we were the only ones left in the place, so we departed for another venue so Kelly and the cook could go home. I would like to go back some Friday to try the fish.

Her meal was well worth the price. Next time I will order that instead. I know prices have increased and I understand that. I just want to be able to justify the cost with the quality etc. The German potato salad was very good as was the coleslaw. The clam chowder was tasty but my bowl didn't have many if any clam pieces. It was more liquid and potato. The service was fast and friendly. We enjoyed the outside patio area instead of eating inside. I will be back as I do enjoy and like this local restaurant.
