Goan Pork Vindaloo
Alex W.

Atmosphere: Really like that they have a more modern atmosphere Food: The pork vindaloo was tasty. Not overly spicy though like I like my vindaloo Price: $11 for an A la carte bowl. Frankly the bowl is pretty small for the price. I got to-go. Perhaps in person is more. Service: Friendly and quick service Parking: Street parking on 21st Overall, food was good but I'm not sure I'd rush back due to the portion size. Maybe will try a bowl one time since it's right by my girlfriends house though.

**vegetarian review** I have heard so much about this place from many people and finally got to try it. The place has a chill laid back vibe. The owner is friendly and funny! I got the mushroom naan, fried potatoes, lotus roots, aloo dum and regular naan. The naan was so soft and nice!!! I loved the mushroom naan. I left it had little bit peppercorn oil which I love. Quick service and would come back

I'm an Indian food fanatic, so when I heard Bhuna had plenty of gluten-free and vegetarian options, I knew I had to drag my friend (she's gluten-free, vegetarian, AND soy-free!) along. We were both blown away! We kicked things off with Seasonal Vegetable Pakoras and Fried Potatoes, perfect for dipping and sharing. Both were crispy, flavorful, and a great way to start the feast. I ordered a Happy Hour Paloma which was also done well. For myself: Pork Vindaloo and the Happy Hour chicken slider. The Vindaloo was fantastic, but while I was fine with the slider, I wouldn't bother getting it again. As always at an Indian restaurant, I indulged in fluffy naan. I tend to judge if I like an Indian restaurant or not by the naan. Bhuna exceeded expectations! The food was delicious and authentic, and the gluten-free and vegetarian options were plentiful and impressive. My friend, usually limited in restaurant choices, raved about it too. We can't wait to return and explore more of their menu!

We wanted to explore this place since quite sometime because of so many amazing reviews about this place. We went on a weekend. The ambiance is really nice. The service is amazing and the staff were very friendly. We ordered the lotus root fries, which were really good, Kashmiri tomato and eggplant curry, which is amazing with very unique flavors. Palak paneer was very average. I ordered a paneer slider and it wasn't that great, it was very bland. If you are in and around Portland, definitely a try. I tried once, and this wouldn't go in my list of repeated places but I wouldn't say no if someone wants to go here On yea, the drinks were amazing

Enjoyed the Lamb Rogan Josh and side of green beans. I am used to whole spices left in the masala but wow, the green beans had an overwhelming amount of black mustard seeds and the lamb had tons of whole black peppercorns. Otherwise, everything was excellent!

Came here on a happy hour crawl but it's not in my neighborhood or even quadrant. We had some skewers and a few drinks. The drinks were good, the food was good and the service was GREAT! I was surprised during hh the place was empty, I'm not sure if we were geriatric in our pursuit of beverages or if this place isn't well-known? To the ambience: The music was good, there were some deep cuts and I used the bathroom which was clean and nice! I'm surprised we didn't see anyone else and I hope Bhuna sticks around!

I have just begun my vegan journey. This place has vegan choices. I forgot the name of the plate but it was a jackfruit special that I got. The sides was a soup and strings beans with vegetable pakora as the appetizer. The string beans were spicy which I loved. The pakoras with the sauce and the lime sprinkled on top just so good. The jackfruit special was so good. The mix of the flavors blended well together. The soup was a calmer to the spices of my other dish. All of the food was delicious. I would have order more if I hadn't gotten full. The space is great. Not a huge place. But definitely has space. I definitely would come here again.

We spent a couple of hours enjoying the hot springs before dinner, and I couldn't recommend that combination more! The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful - elegant, upscale, and perfect for a special occasion. We celebrated our anniversary here, and it made the evening so memorable. A huge shoutout to our server, Heidi, who was incredibly knowledgeable and helped guide us through the menu. The enoki mushrooms and the hot buns were standouts and are a must-order. We were also tempted by the udon, tartare and crudo but ran out of room, so they're already on the list for my next visit. If you're planning a visit to Cascada, do yourself a favor and book a reservation at Terra Mae afterwards!

Note to self…read more Octopus salad was too citrusy for me, my friend loved it, so that's on my taste, not the kitchen. The lamb spare ribs missed. Mostly fat, the kind that never rendered down, and dry where there was actual meat. I left most of it untouched, and no one at the table ever caught it, small thing, but for a place this attentive to detail everywhere else, it stood out. Then the dessert thing happened. Birthday, server offers to treat us at the start of the meal. When it's time, she walks us through the menu, we get excited about the strawberry mochi cake, thinking it'll make up for the ribs. Nope. Turns out the treat was one specific dessert, the sweet potato cake, no other option. Kind gesture, weird way to land it. Left still hungry, wings and jojos at Jacks down the street fixed that. Maybe ordering different things or more of their Japanese side of the menu.

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

We came to Teardrop Cocktail Lounge while visiting Portland and were genuinely impressed…read more The cocktails were excellent -- thoughtful, well-balanced, and clearly made by people who know what they're doing. One of the best parts was how approachable the bartenders were. We asked for custom drinks based on our preferences, and both came out perfectly tailored. Creative without being weird, and strong without being sloppy. What really stood out was the price point. For the quality of cocktails, the prices felt very reasonable compared to similar craft cocktail bars in other cities. The vibe was also great -- relaxed, cozy, and not pretentious. It felt like a place where you could come for a special drink experience without feeling like you had to "perform" or order off a rigid menu. We liked it so much we actually came back a second time during our trip. Highly recommend if you're into well-crafted cocktails, friendly bartenders, and a laid-back but elevated atmosphere.

I've been coming here for nearly 10 years, and it never disappoints! My must-orders are the White Curry with their burnt brisket 10/10, the Mushroom Fried Rice 10/10, and the Carpaccio Crudo 10/10. The white curry is unbelievably rich and savory - the burnt brisket completely makes the dish unique! I genuinely dream about it! If you're visiting Portland and only have time for one meal, this is the restaurant I'd recommend without hesitation. There are no reservations, so you'll need to put your name on the waitlist and be patient. Seating is limited, but it's 100% worth the wait! Don't skip the drinks either - they're served in the cutest mugs. Eem continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in Portland and I can't recommend it enough!

We waited 45 minutes for a seat at the bar and seated around 6:40 PM. Before we were seated, I overheard someone wanting to wait for a seat at the bar and the waiting time was 1 hour and 45 minutes. I highly recommend setting up a reservation. I heard a lot of chatter and seen plenty of reviews speaking highly of the white curry with burnt brisket ends. I had no clue what to expect, but that meal was such a highlight of meals I had while in Portland. I do not eat seafood (have not for a few years) and the broth is made with shellfish, but for this dish I was willing. The dish itself is a five star dish! The dish is well-balanced, flavorful & light. The brisket is absolutely amazing, and this is coming from someone who used to work at a barbecue joint back in the day for a few years. I would recommend this dish to anyone, unless you have a seafood allergy lol. That part is slightly misleading, I did not see anyone mention anything about shellfish and would not have guessed it, assuming the dish was simply just curry and beef. For anyone eyeing this dish, be aware that those with a shellfish allergy cannot indulge. The Bok Choy, not specifically called this on the menu, is DELICIOUS! One of the best I have ever had! It is so good, I wanted to order two just for one person! Highly recommend!! The Thai tea fell flat. I am a HUGE fan of Thai tea, so much so I purchase a specific tea from a nearby tea shop just to make it at home. I make it an absolute mission to order Thai tea if it's offered anywhere I try. At this restaurant, I would not order it again. The red curry with lamb shoulder was good, my partner ordered that dish. Specifically, he was NOT a fan, me on the other hand, I would love to go back to this establishment and get both of the curry dishes for myself. He says, it lacks flavor, so much so he could not finish it. This is really weird coming from him because he thinks everything is "flavorful" when most times, I think it is lacking. Basically, he is someone that thinks everything is good when it comes to food. On the other hand, me? Well, I am always gonna have some complaints. I think the red curry with lamb shoulder was very lamb forward. The strong flavor of the lamb, cuts the flavor of "curry" significantly. Where in comparison with the white curry and burnt brisket ends, all the flavors of brisket, shellfish, and curry were able to shine through, truly it is a really fantastic dish.
