The restaurant had a relaxing vide. The TVs had ocean scenery and surfing, pop music playing in the background. We ordered two of the signature Kenji burgers which had teriyaki seasoning, ponzu aioli, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, tomatoes and arugula served on a Hawaiian sweet bread roll. They use 100% Kauai grass feed beef and provide a generous sized burger. We ordered our burgers cooked medium and medium rare, and the burgers were both cooked correctly. Furthermore the burgers were both juicy and flavorful. Yum! Looking forward to returning. Highly recommended!

But I took a risk with sea-bass and it wasn't too gross to eat. Loco moco was decent. + Portions were med-to-large. + Young man at the front with baseball cap resting on his head (not pulled down) was incredibly professional. - Our party split with half going to food trucks and half ordering at Kenji. We decided to pick Kenji's because they told us it would be a 10 min wait for our to-go order. We ended up waiting over 20 minutes by which time the other half of our group had finished their food.

The food here was good it just needs more flavor. More spice, more heat. There's a lot of things on…read morethe menu that are listed as having some variety of spice but most of the food was on the bland side. It wasn't bad by any means, just mellow when it could've been excellent. Personally I ordered the carne asada nachos. It's a good portion size for nachos - enough for one but not for sharing. They have lots of queso which I liked. It also had a jalepeno lime aioli which could've made the whole dish & sounded so good but was soooooo mild. I wanted more punch! & with the steak saying it's chili marinated, I wanted more heat there too. Again they were good but imo had the potential to be spectacular if they ratcheted the heat up a few notches. The consensus around the table was basically the same thing. Husband got the wings & devoured them but said they were very strong in vinegar so if that's not your jam, don't do the chili peppah water. Nice upstairs open air patio area to sit in but doesn't overlook anything other than the street and other shops. So if you're after a view, this isn't it. Giving four instead of three because of service. We had a little mixup and the manager made sure we were taken care of, even though it ended up being not the restaurants fault at all.

We ordered fries, boneless buffalo wings, bone-in chili peppah watah wings and a loco moco. Service was fast and our server checked on us often. Everything was very good. The boneless wings were huge! The chili peppah watah wings were so tasty but could've used a little more heat. Loco moco didn't disappoint. Would come back again!

The star of the place is definitely Smash Cafe. I order the OG "Original" SMASH BURGER. There are tables and chairs that are set in the shade as well as friendly chickens to keep you company. Even though it was a food truck they still brought the food to and it was a 10-15 min wait MAX. This has to be the best burger I have had EVER!!! It was so fresh I had to wait a bit for it to cool off. The patties were juicy and crispy along the edges, the truffle aioli worked so well with the cheese and beef flavors. The fries were cooked to perfection as well. I strongly suggest you ask for some extra aioli on the side to dip the fries in. They have other menu items as well like crispy chicken, veggie burgers, and they even have a vegan Beyond Burger. I strongly suggest you give them a try you will not be disappointed.

The only thing was there were so many chickens wandering around the tables and that is common in Kauai.

For some reason Break+Feast had eluded me due to not visiting the new mall area called Koloa Village https://www.koloavillage.com/the-village Finally, after many people had recommended this spot, and after getting a GC for my birthday, we made our way there. Firstly, it is very busy. My husband and I did have to wait a bit, but the staff was super nice. (As you can see if you go to their website, a res is recommended https://www.breakandfeast.com/reservations The wait staff seamed a bit thin and overwhelmed, although they still maintained a positive appearance. The food is very fresh, and creative. My favorites: The Curry Vegetable Scramble - with tofu * I am a bit confused as the Break+Feast website says their hours are: Monday 9am-1pm, Tuesday-Saturday 7am-1:30pm On the Koloa Village website it says Tuesday-Saturday 7:30am-2pm and Sunday and Monday closed.
