I'm a huge fan of their Filipino breakfast which comes with garlic rice, eggs, sausage links, fruit, and cucumber salad. There is generally ample seating but they do get busy on weekend mornings. This cafe screams support local with all their unique goods from local honey to artisanal jewellery sold there. On weekends, the kitchen closes early at 2pm, with the cafe shutting down at 4pm. My friends arrived after 1:30pm and most treats were almost sold out. I grabbed a blueberry and a white chocolate raspberry scone to go, super flaky and tasty. The brownie was a bit dry to my surprise, despite looking so decadent. My friends enjoyed a nature bar and huge chocolate cookie with they enjoyed issues. Our coffees came in disposable cups despite asking us if we were dining in. No fancy foam artwork today. Fall flavours to try are pumpkin and pistachio white chocolate. The staff working there are friendly, would visit here again when in the area. Free street parking, and free larger parking lot one block southeast

Last Saturday, I was in my car, parked steps away from Zoup! I had placed a dinner order. I looked across the plaza and noticed Paris Baguette (PB). I had visited COBS Bread a couple of hours earlier. Did I need another bakery visit? Yes! I had some time to kill before picking up my dinner. It was raining. I drove over to PB and parked relatively close to the store. I walked in. I felt like I was in heaven. Carb heaven. Where should I start? I got a tray. There were instructions to grab a small piece of paper and lay it on the tray. I got tongs and went to work. I saw palmiers. My mom loves them. I grabbed one with my tongs and broke off a curved section. It was probably a first for me. I ate the broken part and placed the imperfect palmier on my tray. The broken piece was yummy and was perfection. I finally understood why my mom loves palmiers. I hit the croissant section. I got a pain au chocolat, which is probably my favourite type of croissant. I also got a chocolate croissant. A nice, older woman started chatting with me. She was so sweet. She let me know that she frequents this bakery often and loves it. I asked her what items she hasn't had. It was two items, which floored me. She noticed the chausson aux pommes that I had on my tray and said that it was yummy. I got the following items: - Chausson aux pommes - Chocolate croissant - Pineapple brûlée pastry - Palmier - Pastel de nata - Pain au chocolat - Curry croquette The nice woman let me know that Mia, who was the staffer behind the counter, let her know that this bakery has Korean owners. Really? It made sense seeing mochi donuts. We both hit the checkout counter. Mia got her order and said to grab a seat. She'd bring everything to her. This nice woman said that she was shy of being 90 years old. What?! She looked great! I wouldn't have guessed that I was talking to an 89-year-old woman during my entire time here. I hope that when I am her age, I am savouring pastry as often as my new friend. Mia was great. She put all my pastries in a box. She singled out my savoury curry croquette in a paper bag. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I got my receipt, thanked her, grabbed my goodies, wished my new friend a wonderful day, and left. There was a Wild game that night. I had a pastry each period. Three pastries in three hours. They were delicious! I will say that the ones with fresh fruit were the most expensive, just over $6. They were worth it. The chausson aux pommes had the best apple filling. It was flaky and delicious. I absolutely devoured the pineapple brûlée pastry. The pineapple chunks were set in custard and were so naturally sweet. This pastry was superb. The pain au chocolat continues to be my favourite croissant. It was flaky and had the best chocolate in every bite. So good! I had the chocolate croissant and loved it. It was fresh, flaky, and soft. The chocolate drizzle had the right amount of chocolate with the buttery croissant. I was extremely happy with my pastel de nata. The custard had a hint of sweetness. The base of flaky. It could have been torched on top more, but I'd get half a dozen next time. I didn't know what to expect with the curry croquette. It was delicious. It had a crispy exterior, crusted with a mix of white and black sesame seeds. The curry filling was full of good flavour. It had veggies in it. The corn and carrot combination worked nicely. I raved about this place to my friend at work today. There's one at Heartland in Mississauga, which is perfect for us to do a run after work. I had an excellent experience. It was nice meeting a passionate pastry lover while getting her take on what she loves. Everything that I consumed was excellent. I hope to get a drink next time and perhaps sit down to enjoy it. I'll be back. (117)

However, the icing was a bit too sweet and overpowered the spice, which threw off the overall balance. I also wish it had been warmed up but they don't have a microwave unfortunately. It's odd that Markham does not have one. This store takes over from Subway. It's a bit sad that this plaza has been experiencing some business turnovers of as of late, including Hakka Villa next door. However, I'm ecstatic that COBS is here. I hadn't been to one since I was in Ottawa last summer. There is always lots of parking in this SmartCentres shopping area. I parked fairly close to the store and walked in. There was a man and his son checking out the goodies. I was happy that they were ahead of me, so I could take some photos and look at the baked goods, scones, rolls, and more. Whitchurch-Stouffville is a throwback to my growing up in the Beaches. Without expecting it, the man in front of me politely said that I could go order first because they were struggling to decide. It was so kind of him. I thanked him and approached the counter. The woman who helped me was energetic and friendly. I fell in love with the custard danishes (is that the plural of danish or do I need to go more formal with danish pastries?) when I got four of them in Ottawa before heading home. I got the following custard danishes: - Raspberry - Peach Each one was placed in a paper bag. I refrained from getting any bread, although anything with melted cheddar on it looked tempting to me. I scanned my Breadcrumbs QR code to earn points. I was thrilled to finally use my COBS app. The woman let me know how much my purchases cost. I paid with a debit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked her and left. I should have bought more danishes. I had the raspberry and custard one as soon as I got in my car. The combination of custard with a touch of sweetness and fresh raspberries is perfection. The danish was so scrumptious. I devoured it before I headed home. After dinner that same day, I had the peach and custard danish. I loved the cubed, ripe peaches on top of the custard with the perfect amount of icing drizzled on top. This peach variety is seasonal and is so perfect when the weather is warmer. It screams summertime yumminess. I'm drooling as I reminisce about everything that I saw and inhaled. I want a scone and a loaf of any bread when I return. I'm so happy that York region has a location and that it's a leisurely drive for me to get my fix. (225)
