A huge rip off I got the viral Dubai chocolate strawberry cup and first off the picture is misleading they show a big cup and they are charging 15 bucks for this small cup they are robbing people big time, stay away from this place it is a red flag. The dessert itself the chocolate was really smooth the phyllo pastry was crispy and mixed with the chocolate and pistachio cream and strawberry's had a really good taste but I can't fathom the price for this small strawberry cup at least if your charging 15 dollars give a big cup, avoid this place. read more

Last Wednesday, I was at Vaughan Mills. I had dinner at the food court and was heading out to my car. I passed by a bunch of cute sugar cookies. I looked at this booth's sign that was across from Rocky Mountain Chocolate. Ela's Macarons. OMG! Macarons. Yes! I have been on a macaron quest for at least a couple of months. I looked at all the pretty-coloured macarons in the display case. The flavours were cool. I had to have some. I got a box of six for $15. It's a decent price for them. Behind the counter was a lovely woman who said hi to me. I reciprocated. I let her know that I'd like a box of six macarons. She nodded and we both headed over to the macaron display case for me to select flavours. I went with the following macarons: - Bubble gum - Cranberry orange - Strawberry cream - Tiramisu - Cotton candy - Red velvet I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was done. She asked me if I needed a bag. I declined and got my goodies in a festive red box. I thanked her and headed to my car. When I got home, I tried a couple. I was done eating all macarons in 24 hours. I loved them all. The bubble gum and cotton candy threw me back to being at The Ex. They tasted like the confections. I liked the cookie part of the macaron. They were crispier than most that I've had. The interior was chewy. Excellent! The tiramisu and strawberry cream were delicious. It was like having a strawberry milkshake with the best tiramisu. The red velvet and cranberry orange were yummy. The red velvet was subtle, but delicious. The cranberry orange was citrusy and tangy. So good! I passed by this place yesterday. It was super busy. Hi Yelpers! So after window shopping at Vaughn Mills, I couldn't help but just drool over the showcase of baked goods. First and foremost, the name should be Ela's Bakeshop not Ela's Macarons. I asked the lovely ladies as where the Macarons come from? the Macarons are sourced from AG Macarons. And obviously the cheesecake and cupcakes and other goodies come from Cheesecake Factory. So technically... it should be more of "Ela's sourced goods." Anyways, I purchased a 24 assorted macaron set in which I opted for pistachio, lemon, salted caramel, chocolate, red velvet and vanilla bean. So far, I am not disappointed at all. The quality of the crisp and the potency of flavour is perfect to me. Also the size is fairly priced. I think it's worth the money. I've seen other bake shops charge same price for a single macaron for something smaller in size and not as good. Ahem "whole foods" ahem "fortinos" ahem other bake shops I've been too. As for the cupcake from Cheesecake Factory... vanilla bean flavour... DEAD. So good. Simple flavour that just is perfect both in the potency if vanilla bean, not too sweet and the cake isn't dense at all. Would I go back again? Sure! I'm a fan! Stumbled upon Ela's many times at Vaughan Mills. Finally the first time I decided to try it. They have Cheesecake Factory cheesecake but I wanted a cheaper baked good -decided on a butterscotch cookie. It came to around $3 after tax, not bad for a large cookie! The sales associate said it's made fresh daily, and even near the end of the day the cookie tasted quite good - quite soft and great flavours. It's located right in Vaughan Mills bear the food court areas. They have a selection of macarons, cupcakes and of course cheesecakes as well. Cheesecakes are most expensive running about $7-$8. Macarons are around $2 each, or packs of 4 at a discount. I'd definitely stop by again if I was in need of a sweet treat while walking around Vaughan Mills. read more

I have not been to Vaughan Mills for ages (I seriously cannot remember the last time - maybe like three/four years ago?) so I was pleasantly surprised to see this little macaron kiosk set up there. At $2.55 per macaron, I would say that these macarons are definitely on the cheaper side (and more reasonable Based on appearances alone, the shells were very well made - no lumps, very even baking. The shells are just the right amount of crispiness and had were slightly chewy when I had two of those bad boys. There could be a tiny bit more buttercream IMO, but that is just my preference. I've purchased the following flavours: 1. Rose champagne. I like the hint of the rose champagne in the shells. Would be better if they made the buttercream rose champagne flavour too, since I mostly tasted buttercream after biting into it. 2. Salted caramel. Very good upon the first bite, but this artificial sugary taste lingers after eating it. 3. Pistachio. Flavourful upon eating but you can't really savour much of it afterwards. The pistachio taste is just gone after your two bites. 4. Birthday cake. Not that memorable of a flavour. Tbh, I only taste the buttercream. 5. Lemon cake. Very subtle lemon flavour. Flavour could be stronger to contrast with the sweetness of the buttercream. 6. Dulche de leche. The buttercream for this one was actually flavoured and tasted like coffee. This one was the most flavourful of all of them (and therefore the best one). Based on the ones that I've ordered, I think overall, the macarons are just okay - they aren't the best in terms of taste but they do have very well made shells and look like the macarons from Nadège or Butter Avenue. I think they'd be better if the buttercream fillings were all different flavours instead of being just plain old buttercream. If you're really craving some macarons and are in the area, I would give it a try. They are a bargain and would definitely help to satisfy sugar cravings. They're not as flavourful as other macarons, but if you want something cheap, I'd say these macarons are worth considering. read more

I recently came across this kiosk at Vaughan Mills. What had brought me to have a look was the sigh for Cheesecake Factory cakes. So we went up to the lady and asked about the food and found out they actually serve them here. My friend and I both got the Strawberry and Creme Cheesecake. The Cheesecake was absolutely amazing! It was the perfect slice. I was so in love with the cake we decided to get some for our parents. The Cheesecake was amazing! The lady also told us about the option to order the cheesecake in advance depending on the favor you want. All we have to do is place an order two days before so she can get it for you. I'm so happy they opened a Macaroon place in Vaughan Mills! Whoever opened it is a genius...probably Ela...LOL. The display of the macaroons was visually enticing and got me over to check it out. I ended up buying 6 because the employee made it sound like a deal than if u were to buy them single. She said it in a way where "each is $2.25 but if you buy 6, it's $13.50". We later realized while happily eat the macaroons that our 6 we bought was still each $2.25 LOL so don't be fooled and don't feel tempted to buy 6 of them if you really just want a few. I usually get macaroons gifted to me but I do think they're usually around the 2.00 range, so these were a bit pricier. Nonetheless, they were tasty and very enjoyable to eat while shopping. Flavours I chose were: Birthday Cake, Salted Caramel, Red Velvet, Matcha Green Tea, Toasted Coconut, & Lemon. Their macaron shells were made well. Nice crisp exterior and slight chew inside. The filling wasn't overly sweet, but I notice their filling was mostly buttercream, which was ok. But most of the flavours didn't really stand out much. 3.5 stars for this cute sweets stand in Vaughan Mills! They have a variety of macarons, cupcakes and cookies on display that can be bought in singles or 4 frozen cupcakes in a box. I got the pumpkin pie macaron and the red velvet cupcake. The pumpkin pie macaron filling had just enough sweetness to it and the shell had a nice crisp to it. The red velvet cupcake itself was moist and similarly wasn't too sweet. The cream cheese icing on it was also good. The total came out to $6.75 with tax, which seems a bit pricey for the size. Also for some reason when we used our credit card at the stand it showed up as a charge from "Oshawa arts and crafts" on our credit card bill. The service at Ela's Macarons is absolutely horrible!!! They have some sort of weird system, where they make you stand in one line to order the dessert and then in ANOTHER line to pay for your stuff. And basically you have to jump through hoops just to get some dessert, there are no instructions or signs anywhere. All I wanted was a bottle of water. I stood in line, and when it was my turn at the cash register, I asked for the water and was turned away (!!!!!) because I apparently did not ORDER my water at the other line. Beyond fucking ridiculous! When I told the guy could you please just grab a bottle of water for me, which was within his reach. He completely ignored me, did not look me in the eye at all, and kept letting other people who were in the line behind me come up to him and pay for their stuff. All I did was stand there shocked as an entire lineup of people made their purchases. Then, finally the guy mumbled the amount I need to pay for the water, gave me my change, again while keeping his head down the entire time, did not say thank you, did not apologize. Horrible place!
