Came here to do some work. Never had loukoumades before so I wanted to try them out. I got the regular loukoumades with honey and cinnamon and they were delicious! Served hot and very soft. Warning: These are pretty sweet, so if you don't have a sweet tooth, I'd highly recommend only getting 6...as opposed to the dozen which is certainly a better deal! This place smells GREAT when you first enter! Scent is reminiscent of funnel cake. And orders do take ~10mins as they're fried-to-order. I opted for the standard honey/cinnamon, since I don't like things super sweet and wanted to actually taste the texture. Service was pretty standard, although it wasn't really nice when the girl flicked the box at me upon pickup. It doesn't really take much time to just hand over the box to the customer. First, if you eat them fresh, be aware that hot oil may be sprayed on you. However, the texture is optimal this way. The second day, they are harder and, for some reason, not as sweet. Certainly the oil has dissipated. Texture is spongy, so not the best. Again, if you're not into super sweet things, maybe 1-2 is enough for you. So order accordingly. I've had better loukoumades on the Danforth. Batter could be a bit lighter as I found these heavy, similar to gulab jamun. read more

Suuuuper deelish! Hope this place is here to stay! I'm all about Greek pastries and I'm always looking for places outside Toronto. Well, when I heard about Loukoumania, best believe it was on my list to visit. The bf and I made our way here straight after work. We were the only ones there. They have a TON of toppings but we decided to go with the classic loukoumades, just cinnamon! I really appreciate that they are made to order. A lot of the places in Toronto make them in large batches and aren't necessarily fresh when ordering. My by also ordered a vanilla frap to go along with our loukoumades. I have to admit, it was preeeetty good. I personally would not have choose vanilla but it tasted like real pure vanilla bean. It paired nicely with our warm ooey gooey honey balls! They have a not so secret menu and I wish I was hungry enough at the time to order everything. They have my fave, bougatsa and my bf's fave tyropita. Apparently all the ingredients are imported from Greece! I soooo want to try everything next time! Service was very friendly and the seats were very comfortable lol. This is my first time trying loukoumades, and like another review said, they are kind of like Timbits (but chewier, and A LOT sweeter). We got the 6pack, and she let us pick 2 flavours to try. We got the Ferrero Rocher and Original, and this was the perfect amount for 2 people! I finally got to try my favourite dessert Loukoumades at Loukoumania! I was pleasantly surprised that they fry them fresh per order! I went with the traditional because I wanted to compare with others I have had. This means they were topped with honey and cinnamon. They had over 30 toppings available if you wanted to mix it up! They were perfectly fried to a nice crisp with a nice soft centre. The honey cinnamon topping was excellent! Not too sweet. I will definitely be back and try some of the other toppings or even have some with some ice cream! They also have a huge selection of hot or cold coffees and teas. My first time having Greek dessert and it is this delicious fried ball that is similar to a Tiny Tom. It is almost like a Tim Bits and Tiny Tom mashed together but BETTER! The fried balls are made fresh for each order, never stale, always fresh. They then drench these yummy balls in a honey bath, take them out, and dress them with the topping of your choice. The first bite is so crunchy, and then the sweetness from the honey ooze into your mouth. The whole combination is just perfect. DEFINITELY will come back for more. It may not be fair to write a review based on one item, and not even the house specialty, unless that item was good, so here we go. I was in the area, craving a quick bite of something sweet when I noticed Loukoumania. I had already ruled out a nearby bakery that seemed more like a restaurant. I ordered an ice cream cone and the server asked me to choose a topping. I wasn't expecting it to be topped with anything but it seemed like a good idea. I chose Nutella. I love hazelnut. In the photo, it looks like the ice cream and Nutella are lacking. In actual fact, the waffle cone was fairly large and the ingredients were very fair portions. The Nutella was layered with the ice cream so there was more than what's shown in the picture. It got a little bit messy on this hot day but it also filled the void quite well. I'll have to try their loukoumades the next time I'm in this area. read more

Loukoumania is an interesting little cafe with a bee coloured interior located across from Vaughan Mills. Surprisingly they were able to create a modern chic environment despite the colour scheme. What drove me to this cafe was the fact that they offered Loukoumades, a Greek donut, that I had enjoyed at the Athens Pastries years ago. I ordered half a dozen of Loukoumades that were made to order and a Greek coffee. Since the Loukoumades were made to order a reasonable wait was expected. You get to sit and relax and watch them pour the batter into the deep fryer. Even then I went around late morning and I was the only customer in the store and it took maybe ten minutes or so. For three of them I chose Greek honey and for three of them I chose dark chocolate (btw each tipis was an extra $0.65). I didn't realize that all the Loukoumades were honey soaked unless stated otherwise. So maybe selecting Greek honey as a topping was a mistake? I was never told that because I selected Greek honey as a topping that the Loukoumades will not be honey soaked. Due to this, the interior is rather bread like. The dark chocolate ones were soaked. The topping was really a dark chocolate syrup but definitely not of the gourmet type and quite sweet. Since these three were honey soaked when you bite into them it felt like biting into a wet sponge. They somewhat resembled Indian gulab jamun which are definitely not of my preferred dessert due to the unique texture. I Overall three stars for the Loukoumades and I would only recommend them to those who has a very sweet tooth. But they weren't like how I remember them when I had them years ago at Athens Pastries. The thing I actually enjoyed the most here was the Greek coffee. The coffee resembled an espresso and it came with a biscuit. The coffee is rich but I made the mistake of ordering it with two sugars. If you are taking the Loukoumades with it the better choice would be go completely dark or just with one sugar. Four stars for the coffee. The coffee really salvaged the experience. I might go back and try the baklava and grab a coffee if I'm in the area but I probably won't be back for the Loukoumades. read more

Loukoumania is the only place of its kind in York Region that I have found. I love these fried little delicious balls that are soaked in honey and the choices of topping sauces are plentiful. My favourite toppings are Merenda which is like Nutella and the Pure Greek Honey and most of all the Milk Nounou which is like a condensed milk. Eat them quickly while they are steaming hot, they swim I. The sauces and be sure to use a fork as they are messy. So good. so delicious but has to be bad for you . I recommend 12 pieces maximum because if you go for the larger amount you will eat them all and you will feel horrible. Wash them down with the Frappuccino or The Frappe with ice cream. Service is quick but you always feel rushed depending on the staff working but for the most part you always feel pressured to order quickly. It is very spacious and always full. Plenty of space to sit and eat. If you live fried decadent desserts you must come here. read more

I've been a longtime fan of the famous loukomades from Athens pastries on the Danforth and was in the area when I saw Loukomania so I thought I'd give it a try. I definitely wasn't disappointed!! The space is adorable, it has a honey theme; honey comb logo, honey coloured walls, etc... it has a very cozy and welcoming vibe which I liked. We walked in after having wings at allstars across the street and, as a group of almost 10 people, I didn't think we'd receive the warm reception we did. The girl who was ringing up our orders was so nice and patient with all of us ordering separately and standing around trying to decide what we wanted. Unlike Athens which has them ready to go for a fast pick-up, Loukomania makes them FRESH for you while you wait and what a difference that makes. I was so excited watching them drop the balls of dough into the oil and then dunked into the honey once golden brown and delicious. They then sprinkle some cinnamon on top (traditional) and serve it to you piping hot in a cute little container. I ordered the traditional because I know they're already sweet enough on their own but a few of my friends went with some toppings, like the Nutella and the ice cream, which was actually more of a generously sized sundae. We were all in heaven eating these little dough balls. Price point is excellent, I love that you can order them in whatever portion size you'd like. I ordered 6 and it came to around $3 and some change which is a bit more than Athens but they're larger in size and fresh so it's worth it regardless. Overall, this is a perfect way to end a meal, or start a meal, or eat as a meal, it's really that delicious. I can't wait to come back and bring more friends! read more

When my dining companion suggested hitting Loukoumania Café for dessert during a recent outing, I was immediately excited. I'm pretty sure I'd had this venerable Greek dessert before, but an entire restaurant devoted to it? Color me intrigued. We walked in around 1:00 on a Monday and the place was empty. The menu was a little intimidating, but the super friendly clerk helped us make sense of it all. I decided to go with the 3 Loukoumades W/Ice Cream option, and elected to forgo any additional toppings and just get them the traditional way. We were warned that the Loukoumades are made fresh every time, so the 15 minute wait for the food wasn't terribly surprising. And boy were they worth the wait. The Loukoumades themselves are pretty much the best thing ever; hot and fresh, they're deep-fried balls of deliciousness covered in a delectable honey sauce. Honestly, I have no complaints about these things. They're astounding. The ice cream, on the other hand, didn't fare quite as well. It's basically soft serve, but it was awfully icy and lacking in a creamy flavor. I ate a few mouthfuls and threw the rest away. But those Loukoumades... The loukamades are made fresh to order, dipped in honey, then (optionally) topped with an endless menu of choices - nutella was my go-to. This is my first time having Loukoumades. These little bites of joy destroy Timbits, cream puffs and even Tiny Tom donuts!!! I'm completely hooked! There's tones of choices for flavours/toppings, traditional cinnamon is great but try adding real bacon bits to bread and honey... ya it's alright!!!! Lol. I think they've only been open 3 days and I've been there twice. Aside from the delicious treats, the coffee was amazing and the staff are so polite and don't mind explaining what you're about to get yourself into when you have one of these heavenly things. This is a great addition to the community and free wifi and comfortable chairs isn't a bad addition either. 10 stars if I could! read more

Extreme sugar alert! Loukoumades are essentially fried timbits soaked in honey with a topping on top. While sounding great conceptually, they are WAY too sweet! I would definitely opt for no honey if I come back. The loukoumades are hard on the outside as they are deep fried, which I didn't expect. They are not soft like a donut. The good thing is they are made fresh to order. There are so many toppings to choose from, and I went with Nutella, salted caramel, Oreo and cinnamon sugar. They come in sets of 3, 6, 12, 36, and 60. These are amazing!! Deep fried balls of dough soaked in honey and then topped with whatever flavour you want. They are made right in front of you so they are super fresh. They have a really chill atmosphere with nice Greek music in the background. Their Loukoumades come in different packages: 6, 12, 36, and 60. I got a pack of 6, half with traditional topping of cinnamon and half with strawberry, dark chocolate, and banana topping (each topping comes at about $0.65 extra; they have more than 30 toppings that you can choose from). I also tried the original Loukoumades without any toppings and those were my *absolute favourite.* Make sure to ask for your Loukoumades hot and fresh -- those taste the best. All of their Loukoumades are soaked in honey, so the sweetness tastes super natural and feels healthy. I personally didn't feel that they were too sweet; they tasted sort of like honey-dipped timbits. You can ask for yours to be filled inside, sort of like a Boston Cream, for an extra $0.15. Their Greek coffee was a bit watery for me and tastes a lot like Turkish coffee (you can try fortune-telling with the patterns at the end of your cup!). Anyhow, this place is pretty empty and looks a bit sad. Had a quick chat with the only employee at the store and she told me the place only opened 8 months ago (early 2018). She told me it would be a 5 minute wait when I ordered a batch of 6 Loukoumades. There are lots of toppings to choose from but as a first-timer, I opted for the traditional. I think my review may be a little off since I didn't eat it until a lot later (yes, driving). I really appreciate the decor of this shop and felt it could be a great hangout if it was in a busier plaza. The staff member was really nice to me and didn't try to push me to buy more (i.e., why not buy 12 Loukoumades lols). So cue home time and I take my first bite...mmm, I love the outside. I really like that the sweetness didn't overpower the rest of the fried ball. But damn, once my teeth sank deep into the core I felt a certain lack of taste. This is where I need some knowledge sharing, is it supposed to be plain on the inside? I mean, it tastes really boring after you finish eating the outer layers. This is now my favorite donut shop... they have over 31 flavors, every time I try a new one I still have to get the original, cinnamon sugar. I've been here a couple times, they make everything fresh, so there is a wait definitely, but it's well worth the wait.
