First-time customer here! I'd heard great things about this spot, so I made it a point to come early since it gets busy around noon. With the doors opening at 10 a.m., we arrived at 10:30 a.m., only to discover their famous sandwiches don't start being served until 11 a.m. To pass the time, my company and I ordered an espresso white chocolate cookie to share. Around 10:50 a.m., I noticed people already lining up for sandwiches, so I decided to place my order early. (In hindsight, I wish the cashier had mentioned that we could pre-order sandwiches when we bought the cookie!) Pro tip: If you're planning to visit for lunch, come early and order right away. By 11:30-45 a.m., all the dine-in seats were taken, and by 11:45 a.m., some menu items were already sold out or unavailable (my assumption, given some menu items were taped to cover when they weren't precious upon arrival). The lunch rush is constant, with at least 10 people in line at all times. Also, if you're coming for dinner, make a reservation; but lunch is first-come, first-serve. The Food Espresso White Chocolate Cookie: A fantastic start. The cookie was perfectly chewy with crispy edges. The coffee flavor was subtle, making it enjoyable even for non-coffee drinkers, while still being balanced for those who love coffee (like me). It wasn't overly sweet. I'd absolutely order this again. Bistecca Focaccia Sandwich: The star of the show! Unlike many places, their focaccia is thinner, which gives it an ideal bread-to-filling ratio. The bread was insanely crispy, and the thinly sliced steak was packed with flavor. We swapped the usual horseradish aioli for garlic aioli, and it was a game-changer. Highly recommend this sandwich - I'll be back for it. Bee Sting Pizza: For $6, you get two rectangular slices. The crust was thin and incredibly crispy, which was a pleasant surprise. The flavor was bold, with a spicy kick and a touch of creaminess. While I enjoyed it, I'd still choose their sandwiches over the pizza next time. The Experience Service was friendly but unremarkable. Since lunch is self-serve, we ordered at the counter and seated ourselves. However, an employee did come by to clear our table and greeted us as we left. The space has a minimalist yet cool aesthetic. Lunch feels casual, but I can imagine it becomes more upscale and atmospheric in the evening with the bar and mood lighting. Parking is free and wasn't an issue at 10:30 a.m., but by noon, people were waiting for spots. Overall: This spot is worth the hype, but timing is key. Come early, plan ahead, and don't miss the Bistecca Focaccia Sandwich!

I went to Penelope Social on a Wednesday night for dinner, with a few friends. The restaurant is large with plenty of seating, and a patio. By 7:30, the restaurant was full. Luckily, we had a reservation and were seated right away. The restaurant offers Italian fusion food, with a variety of options. We ordered the cucumber salad and the cauliflower to start. Both apps were delicious and had an Asian spin to them. For mains, we ordered the vodka pizza (which was on special for $10!), and the alla gricia pizza. Both pizzas were unique, offering a different flavour profile. I really enjoyed the alla gricia pizza which seemed like a cacio e pepe/ carbonara mix. For desert, we ate the Nutella tiramisu. The tiramisu was creamy and light, but could have used more nutella, in my opinion. Will definitely be back!

It was cool to learn that Seara Bakery & Pastry offers Portuguese pastries and desserts in Vaughan…read more A recent Yelp experience brought me here. This bakery is located in a plaza with plenty of parking. I had no problem finding a parking spot coming from work. Sadly, all the Portuguese egg tarts (natas) were sold out when I had arrived at 5:30 pm. However, I did manage to get a pistachio loaf that looked yummy and ended up taking it home. I have had the following items at this place: - Iced latte - Portuguese vanilla custard-filled donut - Ham and cheese croissant My iced latte was awesome. The woman at the counter asked whether I wanted sugar. I declined it, which made this drink perfect. It was cold. The coffee was smooth. It had the perfect amount of milk. I loved it. My vanilla custard-filled donut came out next. It was cut in half, so I admired all the custard in it. It had sugar around it that was the only sweetness that I got from it. The custard had a mild vanilla flavour and had little sugar, which I appreciated. The donut was more on the egg side of things. If you don't like that eggy taste, it may not be for you. I personally loved how different it was compared to regular overly sweet donuts. My ham and cheese croissant had arrived. When you order a croissant warmed up, it gets pressed in a panini machine. It was different, but it worked. There was a single slice of ham and another slice of cheese in this croissant. It was yummy, but I was yearning for more filling. The croissant had a different type of flakiness when it was pressed to death. I used the washroom before I headed home. Staff here were constantly cleaning tables, chairs, and the washrooms during my visit. The women's washroom is a single stall and it was super clean. My pistachio loaf came up to $8. I paid with a debit card. I tipped and tapped. Done! There are nuts on top of the pistachio loaf, but not in the loaf itself. The loaf was closer to a pound cake, but without a whole lot of moisture. It also had a hint of vanilla or some other extract in it. It wasn't sweet, but it did require downing it with a drink. I ended up taking half of the loaf and making French toast out of it. It turned out nicely. I hope to return to get some natas. There were so many pastries that I want to try as many as possible. (245)

From the moment I walked in, the friendly staff made me feel right at home. They were incredibly friendly and helped make recommendations on their most popular pastries - there's so many to choose from! I got the Pistachio Tiramisu and the Sweet Egg Mille Feuille. The tiramisu was light, sweet, and had a subtle pistachio flavor. The Mille Feuille was massive! It had crispy, flaky layers and a nicely balanced sweet egg custard in between. Very reasonable prices for all their pastries. If you're in the area and craving some authentic Portuguese pastries, I highly recommend stopping by this charming bakery! :)

Great Vibe, Disappointing Espresso (from an ex-Barista)…read moreStepped into this spot looking to grab some genuinely good coffee. As an ex-barista, I'm fussy--I hate spending money and not getting a quality product. Unfortunately, the coffee was a swing and a miss. I ordered one iced latte and one hot latte. In both drinks, the espresso was burnt. I actually watched the barista pulling the shots, and I could tell immediately. To make matters worse, the hot drink was barely a latte; it was essentially a cappuccino based on the absurd amount of foam on top. Plus, the milk itself was ruined. There's a certain temperature and texture for steaming milk, and this was clearly burnt milk that had been frothed way too aggressively. Aesthetically, the café is lovely--it's cute and a great spot to work from home. My recommendation? Skip the espresso drinks. Maybe try the matcha or a pastry instead. I definitely won't be back for the coffee.

There's a self serve area that you can buy loafs of bread, they have sweets and pastries behind the counter that the staff get for you, and a brunch menu that you can order from. You order at the front, grab your buzzer and grab your food at the counter when it's ready. Here's what I got: Smoked Salmon Benedict 5/5 - Came with two poached eggs on a sourdough thick slice, spinach, cream cheese, smoked salmon, hollandaise and side salad. Love the colours of the meal, eggs were perfectly runny, and flavours were amazing. Matcha latte 4/5 - It was good and a vibrant green colour. I love that they do a latte design on the top Lotus cube croissant 5/5 - Loved the cube shape of this croissant. It was a nice flakey texture that was perfectly sweetened. Overall, great brunch spot that is cute and vibey. Love the colour and presentation of their food and would be back!

It may get to the point where it gets overwhelming haha. We shared a hot coffee and a smoked ham sandwich. Although it was good, I would have preferred it if they could heat it up as we had it straight from the showcase. I liked that they gave us pickled cabbage with it as well. Great amount of seating, good for groups and those who need to work on their laptops solo. Lots of natural lighting as well.
