I purchased two bone-in ribeye steaks over the holidays from Better Meat. Before purchasing I spoke with one of the butchers explaining that I needed two 2 inch thick bone in ribeyes to reverse sear them. Because of COVID protocols, I was met out front of the shop with the ribeyes already packaged when I needed to pay, so I wasn't able to check them out until I got home. This wasn't a concern, as the combined steaks seemed plenty thick. It turns out the two steaks completely differed in width, one far thinner than the other. Having both steaks the same width was important for how I intended on cooking them. Unfortunately the shop was closed by the time I discovered this, and I needed to cook them that night. When I pay close to $100 dollars for two steaks from a butcher, I don't expect to have to worry about such a basic consistency issue (photo attached).

I called in to order a prime rib 6 days before Christmas and was worried I wouldn't be able to get one but it wasn't an issue. They asked if I wanted it seasoned or unseasoned and I chose seasoned which was perfectly seasoned. Everyone that worked there was super nice and the prime rib roast had great flavor. I would definitely recommend this butcher shop.

Absolutely hands down the best place in town. From Steaks (even Wagyu), to Brisket, Frenched Rack o Lamb, Short Ribs even marrow bones for my pups!!! Can't believe I haven't wrote a review yet for them as I've been going here on and off for about 12 years or so. Nicest people ever working here and I would gladly spend more than I should here because it is just that damn good. Thanks everyone!!! See you later this week!!!

I just uploaded a current price sheet. I like the ability to call in an order and have it ready when needed. A great selection of Uli's sausages!

Do you sell goat meat (goat front legs for eg)?

We don't always have front legs but we can do our best to get you what you need

Do you carry Turducken for thanksgiving?

    No we do not.

Do you sell fish and shellfish?

We dont do a lot of seafood. We have shrimp, salmon sides, and weathervaine scallops, which i would put up against any scallop in the world.

    Do you sell smoked chicken?

    No not smoked.

Do you smoke whole turkeys for Thanksgiving?

Unfortunately, we are too small. It does our own smoking, but we do get smoked turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Do you have cow tongue or can we special order it?

We almost always have tongue! Call ahead to be sure

Are you able to take food stamps for purchases?

Unfortunately, no. We do not take food stamps. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Does this location sell ox tail?

It is always in stock. We keep it frozen

Do you have a Polish Sauage? Just curious

    Yes kielbasa ring or link.

Is their meat grass fed, antibiotic free?

We don't do too much grass fed; our lamb is New Zealand and Australian, so it's grass fed. But, our beef is pasture raised and then grain before slaughter. The cows are from washington State! We do have grass fed ground beef.

Do they sell elk meat here?

    Yes! Ground elk

You can see where we stood in the picture I posted of the shops' entrance. A group had been standing in the exact same spot just before us, so we didn't think we were in anyone's way. Absolutely inexcusable to say to anyone, let alone a young woman. When my boyfriend said, "You could have been nice about it." He said, "I don't have to." This wasn't just a reminder about his equipment, it was the tone, the hostility, and the lack of basic respect. No one came into the building after us, so we were not obstructing anyone from going to his business. We were simply waiting for our food and were met with aggression from this man. He does not deserve any business after such a lack of basic decency.

We recently started going to one of their locations outside of Seattle whenever we were in the area. The service remains flawless. It's one of the few butcher shops that consistently deserves a tip but they are always a bit extra! This week, we did a perfect surf & turf : wagyu steak and Chilean sea bass - complete with accompaniments. The fish was flaky and the steak was perfectly seasoned, seared and medium rare. As I was setting up drinks, I was the last one at the table. The steaks were sitting there and everyone had stopped eating. When I asked how it was, I was told "Try it, tell us what you think". I sliced into the steak. It looked amazing. I bit in. BUT afte a chew, I stopped eating it. The beef was definitely 'off' andd spoiled - which explained why no one was eating it. Fortunately, it was surf & turf night so we still had enough to eat. But after paying wagyu prices and lovingly cooking the steak, the disappointment was beyond words. Obviously I will call the store as I want to make sure they pull the remaining inventory from theirr display. At this point, my husband is worried as he had three bites as he presumed the aftertaste was from the truffle sauce I had drizzled. Now, he's worried that he will get sick. I guess time will tell. So FYI --- make sure you check the original dates of the meat before they cut/vaccum seal. Long story short - I hope they read this and review their QA processs to ensure all meats are dated/rotated/stored.

We ordered the Meatball Sub and Eggplant Sub with marinara sauce. Both sandwiches were flavorful and satisfying. The meatball sub was hearty and comforting, while the eggplant sub had a rich marinara sauce that worked well with the sandwich. We were especially disappointed that the Cubano was sold out, as it was one of the main reasons we stopped by. The only drawback was the price--at around $20 per sandwich, it felt a bit expensive for what you get, especially considering it was just a 6-inch sub, even though the quality was good. We visited during a FIFA World Cup match, so the line was quite long, but it moved steadily and efficiently. No complaints there. The atmosphere is casual and straightforward, with indoor seating only. Its downtown location near the stadiums makes it a convenient spot for a quick meal before or after an event. Overall, a good sandwich shop with quality food, though the pricing keeps it from being a must-visit. I'd still come back to finally try that Cubano.

Bonus: this spot is kosher! Potato Latkes (5/5): These latkes are thick boys and fried up so they're piping hot when they hit the table. Because of their size, you really get the contrast of the hard crunch on the outside with super fluffy potato inside. So good we immediately turned around and ordered more. Chocolate Babka (2/5): This was truly the only miss I've had here. Unfortunately, the babka just really dries out after it's been sliced, which is a shame because it's just gorgeous with generous swirls of chocolate inside. Dingfelder's pastrami is a dead ringer for that sandwich: huge slices of melt-in-your-mouth pastrami, regular and half sour pickles, and all the other accoutrements you'd expect from a legit Jewish deli. This place doesn't screw around. If you want a great, hearty, flavor-packed sandwich, this is one of the best places to throw your money. But, as others have pointed out, it's no cheap date: expect to pay over $20 for one of those mighty pastrami sandwiches.
