This was our first and last visit. The beef brisket sandwich I ordered consisted of small cubed (less than one centimeter) tasteless portions of beef brisket, not the sliced pieces shown in photos on this website. When you pay $18 ($4 more than for pulled pork or chicken) you expect a tasty sandwich. Also, my wife's cream of mushroom soup was luke warm when it arrived at the table and had to be returned to be reheated. When we were leaving I asked the server and she explained that's what they do when getting near the end of a piece of brisket. I've would have preferred they say they were out of it. read more

I thought BBC had VERY BAD ribs but they were outdone by Bethany Blues in Lewes, De. These - drier and harder than beef jerky - ribs were inedible. What a shame because that is their signature dish. Service at the bar was great. The help was very, very nice, fun and energetic. Unfortunately their ribs were cold and hard as a rock. It's a shame when the best thing on the plate was cold baked beans and the cold slaw. I've been to the Lewes location several times and have never been impressed by the food but decided to give it another try. The restaurant and bar are very nice and the service was great. I had the smoked turkey which was ok at best. I also had the St. Louis ribs. Dry, tough, not much flavor and not hot. I had to smother in BBQ sauce to eat it. It's not every day you find St. Louis style ribs cooked so the meat actually falls from the bone. Flavor was great too - didn't feel the need to pour on any BBQ sauce. Mac & Cheese was topped with pulled pork and homemade brisket kielbasa (something that's unusual, and REALLY good). Great portion sizes too. Cocktails were a good pour, and appropriately priced. Service was attentive and very friendly. An enjoyable meal overall. The atmosphere seemed a bit "cold", and choice of music was a bit odd, with the playlist alternating between country, and hip-hop. Wasn't looking for and expecting great barbecue while in the area but was curious given the reviews. Legit Brisket in Lewes? Hmmmm had to find out. The Lewes location is open for lunch (Bethany opens later at 4). A good sized spot with a spacious bar area. Ordered at the restaurant around 1:00 and I think I just missed the lunch rush. They have a few different menus (carry out, lunch, dinner). You can go a la carte or entree. Would have liked to go with the BBQ platter but only available for dinner. Decided a la Carte as we just wanted to try some of the protein. Really wanted to order the Brisket Nachos (pictures looked awesome!) but they give you a kit for take out- next time. We got a pound of the brisket & an Andouille Sausage link. Brisket was mostly very good. I could see a thin smoke ring on some of the slices & although most of the slices were tender unfortunately a couple of the slices were dry. You get 3 types of sauce-regular, sweet and savory from what we tasted. Some bread to go with it would have been nice-maybe you get it for eat-in? Andouille Sausage was excellent! Their version was intensely seasoned (peppers, garlic) with a slight kick. Sandwiches & Burgers are also available. Bourbon looks to be a focus as they have a great variety. That said, they do have a good list of cocktails, beer and wine. Service was excellent! As I was sitting in front area waiting for my food, every person who walked by asked me if I had been helped. I stopped by here this past Sunday for takeout for myself, my wife and her parents. We had found Bethany Blues BBQ on Yelp and thought that it sounded good and so I tried to call in an order. However, I had confused the fact that their dinner menu is not the same as their takeout menu (although very similar) and so had to hang up and call back. Upon calling back I was told that my order would be ready at 6:30 and so I timed my arrival to then. I arrived a minute later than that and was told that they were working on my order. The inside of the to go/express was clean with a place for the workers making the food and then tons of open space and some seats to wait in. At 6:37 my food ended up being ready and I was on my way. For dinner on this day we ordered 1 1/2 lbs of brisket, 1/2 lb of turkey, 1/2 lb pulled pork, 1/2 lb pulled chicken, 1/2 lb Carolina chopped pork, 1 pint Mac and cheese, 1 pint collards, 1 pint cheesy creamed corn, 1/2 pint of bbq potato salad and a Cole slaw. I ultimately ended up eating a taste of brisket and then the pulled chicken, chopped pork, collards, cheesy creamed corn and Mac and cheese which basically would have mirrored my pick 2 from the dinner menu. I first started out by tasting the brisket which I thought was pretty good as it was tender and had a nice flavor to it. Up next was the chopped pork which was just ok. The menu had described it as having a Carolina bbq sauce and I couldn't taste that at all which was disappointing. Last but not least for the meats was the pulled chicken which ended up being pretty good. The meat was moist and tender and even though I didn't get any of the sage, I still liked it. Out of the sides, the collards were easily the best. They were braised nicely and so tender without having an overly vinegary taste that you often get. Then the cheesy cream corn was interesting since the corn was almost buried in the cheese sauce. Still it was good and I imagine getting the cheese flavor into the corn isn't easy which is why they did it. Last was the Mac and cheese which I felt was a little on the boring side. The cheese felt more like velveeta than shredded cheese which is fine, just not my personal preference. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. Was on vacation and wanted to try something new and tasty and just randomly picked this restaurant. The parking lot isn't overly big as we had to park at another business across the street, even with little parking inside was nice and big and we only waited but a few minutes to be seated. Our waitress was super nice and speedy. I ordered two mixed drinks and don't remember the names. However, they were both really good. We also got the corn bread, and that was amazing. We started with a few appetizers deviled eggs for $1.95 each with a small piece of lump crab on top. These were pretty good. I forgot to take a picture of these. We then had a wrapped scallop and shrimp wrapped bacon bbq appetizer for $14. We followed that by the pork belly burnt ends for $14. ALL OF IT WAS AMAZING!! NO COMPLAINTS! For our entrees, my boyfriend got the smokehouse Mac skillet for $18. The skillet wasn't huge, but it was piled nice and high with a good amount of pulled pork. I got the build your own platter one meat for $18, I got the pulled chicken with bake beans and corn. I think I got a good amount of chicken, and their corn was amazing it's soaked in butter, but taste, oh, so good!!! Our other two friends also enjoyed two other dishes we were just told the ribs were a hare dry!! There were BBQ sauces even though only two to pick from were very tasty. read more

Didn't think I'd like the BBQ food in Delaware as I'm definitely a BBQ snob, but was pleasantly surprised and impressed. Started with a giant order of nachos for the table which were really good. We also had a brown sugar bacon appetizer (AWESOME!) and fried pickles (so-so - they were fried pickle "strings") served with a weird honey mustard sauce (it didn't go well w/ the pickles). They left the membrane under the ribs (no no no!) but, otherwise, they were good. Others had pulled pork and beef brisket which they said were also good. Fries tasted a bit old - maybe sitting out too long. Portions were very good size. Bathrooms even had foot pedals to open the doors to prevent contamination during COVID, which I thought was pretty good. So we are already a fan of the Bethany Beach location of Bethany Blues and were recently in Lewes so stopped into this location for lunch. Highly impressed with all the steps they are taking for indoor dining with Covid regulations. It is a large location so easily able to space tables during lunch. They have signs showing their sanitation efforts and even have a foot button to open the bathroom door for hands free. First time I have seen this extra step at a restaurant and very smart! As for the food- all things here are delicious. You really can't go wrong ordering anything on the expansive menu. My husband loves the BBQ but opted for a turkey sandwich meal this time that he loved. The kids really like their Mac & cheese and for BBQ place their salads and crab cakes are amazing! We tried their cheesy corn side today- so big for a side and so good... had to take leftovers home. Their bourbon crush drink is our favorite and way too smooth with freshly squeezed juices. If possibly have room... dessert should not be missed either! Again- love Bethany Blues, they deserve all the accolades they get and honestly even more so now with the many extra steps they have taken during this time. The crab dip was good but I would've preferred a bit more texture/more solid pieces of crab in there. There were also significantly more chips versus dip. However, my pulled pork was awesome- moist and a very decent portion. I flavored with the multiple sauce flavors on the table. I ordered the BBQ potato salad and green beans. When checking in on Yelp we got a free plate of the fried pickles (wasn't expecting it to be shredded, but none the less they were very yummy!! And I normally don't even like pickles) The pulled pork was delicious, especially with the BBQ sauce provided at the table. My son got the Mac and cheese and found it very enjoyable. However, my boyfriend got the jambalaya and found the protein to be a little bland (basically why I'm giving 4 stars). He wasn't impressed with it, but he did enjoy the rest of our meal. The servers were very attentive and recommended a bourbon flight at a great price. We ordered pick 2 with brisket and bone in chicken And a pick 3 with brisket, pulled chicken, and pulled pork. The brisket was dry and not as flavorful as I expected. I'd give it a 3 out of 5. The bone in chicken was good and cooked very well. The pulled chicken and pork was cooked okay but not enough seasoning. They seem to rely heavily on the 3 barbecue sauces they offer. The sides were good. green beans were fresh and not typical for a barbecue spot. The coleslaw was good but will need salt and pepper. The deluxe mac and cheese was tasty. So Bethany Blues has been on my "to do" list for a while now and I finally decided to give them a try. Usually when I want bbq I will drive to the nearest Mission BBQ to satisfy my craving but I wanted to try something new instead. When calling my order in over the phone I made it a point to mention that I have never eaten at the restaurant before, hence the reason I order so many small quantities of different items. During that call I asked the operator if the kid's pulled pork came in a sauce or if it was on the side. She stated that it was on the side. The baked beans were bland and watery. The macaroni and cheese was pretty basic and tasted if it was made with one type of cheese. By the way both of those sides came in incredibly small condiment containers. The corn bread wasn't bad after heating it up but looked like it was cut with anything but a knife and thrown in the box. The fires weren't bad and the pulled pork was delicious. But there was no sauce anywhere, thank goodness I keep some at home. So after realizing I was sauceless I contacted the store to inquire if the item came as lose meat or a sandwich and what happened to my sauce. The operator offered no solution but apologized which is unacceptable considering that bbq sauce is what makes good smoked meat delicious. So as a result, I wasn't pleased and if I ever go again it will be just for meat and I'll make my own sides. read more

So far......about an hour in with a 30 minute wait for a table of 8. Table sits 7...barely. We borrowed a chair from our table neighbors. Can barely hear...noisy, crowded, and a customer brought us water. I know the food has been very good in the past...I hope to update this after we are finally served. St. Louis Ribs at location in Lewes on Coastal Highway were extremely dried out, and you could tell they had been warmed up. The top of the rack (meat) was dry, very tough, and crusty. So first off, service is great! I really want to like this place. However, the food is horrible. It's like eating stadium food with New York Yankees prices, so you New Yorkers will probably like it. This place used to be great for bunches, but that changed after COVID. The sandwiches are the worst. They are either too salty, too dry, too vinegary, or too slimy. Gross. Crab dip taste like plastic or a smelly refrigerator. I know you're thinking- How does this dude know what a smelly refrigerator taste like? Easy, I tasted it here. Bourbon selection is great! Ambiance is chill. Order drinks here, just don't eat here. I want to end with this- The service here is great. There was nice bar options and my wife's cocktail was good and they had the whispering angel rose which is great to have as an option for wine people like me. Decent kids menu. The to go menu had options to order meat by the weight but the regular menu didn't. I asked for brisket and turkey but didn't want the meal/sides. They honored that but had to go check first. The smoked turkey was good but the brisket was dry. I was expecting more from the brisket based on how much they hyped it up. I was a little disappointed that the BBQ sauce had high fructose corn syrup as well. Make it seem like it is not made in house and just mass produced to be bottled. Regardless that is a horrible ingredient to use in the sauce as it contributes to poor health. I will say it is an option in town that doesn't have a lot of great options for meat eaters. read more
