Let me preface this review by saying that my review is based on being a foodie from NYC with access to every type of cuisine, so my expectations are high when I see an establishment with a nearly 5 star average. To ME, this is not a 4 or 5 star establishment at all. I appreciated the eastethic of the place...it was relaxed but a lot of the diners were dressed nicely. However, why did the hostess have on a hoodie?! This is very strange considering (for the area) this is what they consider a higher end restaraunt. I absolutely hated sitting outside! People will talk about NYC being ghetto....Our table was literally right next to the waiting area. This guy almost hit me because he was that close to our table. smh but we are in times where establishments want to make money on every inch of available space. Take that into consideration if there is only seating outside, which may not be a biggie for others. The food: the bang bang shrimp was VERY heavy on the mayo and the shrimp weren't as crispy. We didn't finish it. I ordered the scallops and they were good but I wasn't a fan of the risotto and didn't taste truffle oil on top. My aunt ordered one of the fish dishes and her fish was overcooked. lol At that point I was feeling gaslit by the reviews because my expectations were wayyyy too high for this place! Service: Our waiter was very nice but he literally came over THREE times to get the bill. There is a tactful way to do this (look from a distance and wait for the customer to clearly be ready and book closed). It was the one turn-off regarding his service that night. We had a reservation that needed to be rescheduled. I called 1 week b4, they put me in the following week as requested. The night of the cancelled reservation I got a very snarky and rude VM admonishing me for not showing up and not calling to cancel. I promptly called back and explained that I did in fact canc and that I had a new reservation. She replied she would put me on hold to ck if I was telling the truth. After a few minutes she returns to say Your all set! No apology nothing. I told her I felt her vm was snarky and would address it when we came in the following week. She rudely responds OK well you do that! And hangs up. Needless to say we did not visit the establishment and would never under any circumstances dine at an establishment where they treat customers so disrespectfully. Restaurants are a dime a dozen around here and your success is largely based on reputation. Now I see why they're open 4 hrs a night for 4 days a week!! read more

I utilized yelp to come across this place for a girls dinner and it delivered in droves. I shared the special "crispy skin red snapper" and it was absolutely delicious. Not huge portions, but that's ok. My friend had a wedge and their blue cheese is quite possibly some of the best blue cheese ever. I know it's dramatic to say that but it was that good. To drink I had a vodka martini with the blue cheese stuffed olives and it was crispy and delicious. The server was great and plenty of gluten free options for me to eat. It's a random shopping center but adorable inside. Definitely recommend. read more

Appetizers you can have as a meal on their own. The firecracker shrimp, calamari and salad are great. Food that is prepared with as much love as how it is presented. The day boat scallops, chicken malonaus and salmon entrees are delicious. The banana cheesecake is yummy. You are always guaranteed an excellent meal and the wait and bar staff are absolutely wonderful. This is a finely tuned dining experience and a must when you come to the beach. read more

I have to say been coming here for years...and it's consistent. Tonight's was my Birthday Dinner and it delivered. I had my Makers Mark Manhattan to start, olives and bread, Caesar salad, Tuna Poke....all delivered....Great wine with the Papillion, an Orin Swift selection. Entree, filet special with fingerlings and mushrooms, horse crusted salmon, chicken Milanese and seared scallops..All Delicious...Thank You Michy's and Mark our server...All Excellent...Dessert we chose a peach and blueberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream....we wanted 2 of them but we could online get one, sold out early...bummer....Great establishment and top notch. read more

Excellent meal here last night. We didn't have reservations, but were lucky enough to secure the very last unreserved table on the porch. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We both chose items from the regular menu... the short ribs, and the horseradish crusted salmon. Both were fantastic!!! We had never heard of this place and showed up without a reservation but they found a spot for us 2. I had the bolognese and wife had the salmon. The bolognese was well seasoned and the noodles al dente which was just perfect. The salmon was done to perfection and my wife loved the sauce it was basted in. The bar drinks were perfect too. My husband and I had the best dinner we've had in Rehobeth! We rolled up without a reservation around 6pm and the first table available was on the patio. So book a reservation if you can. If we had a table inside, we would have given the 5 stars. It was a little chilly this evening. My wedge salad was so fresh! The beef tenderloin was tasty and broccoli is well seasoned. The French baguette was crusty on the outside and soft and warm. The chicken Milanese was crispy topped with a fresh arugula and mozzarella salad. Dessert was a winner too! At the edge of a strip mall on Route 1, you will find one of the top dining destinations in the Rehoboth area. Michy's sports an artsy funky vibe and is packed with locals enjoying a fun night out. I like to start with one of the fabulous craft cocktails and the flavorful dish of warm olives. The firecracker shrimp is also outstanding. I typically enjoy one of the seafood options, with my top go to choice award, the scallops. On a recent visit, the other half enjoyed the spectacular beef bolognese. Excellent dinner at Michys. Wedge salad was amazing. Dayboat scallops were cooked perfectly, but the accompanying mushroom pea risotto, while cooked perfectly, was a shade on the salty side. Also, the inside tables were pretty close together -- I could hear the conversations at adjoining tables perfectly throughout my meal. Without a doubt, one of the best restaurants I have ever been to! I have been dozens of times so this review is very overdue. I live in Washington DC and Michy's is above and beyond my favorite restaurant, better than any restaurant in DC (and we have some excellent ones!). If you are looking for delicious, unpretentious food and drinks, look no further. My go-to entree is the Horseradish Crusted Salmon--I'm not even a big horseradish person but WOW it is amazing every time. My family loves entrees such as the short ribs, bolognese, and chicken milanese. Even the poke, which I don't usually eat unless I'm actually in Hawaii, is fantastic. "Simple" dishes like Caesar salad and beet salad are also DELICIOUS! I always take guests who are visiting from out of town and everyone is blown away by how amazing everything is. I am also very picky about cocktails and hate paying $15 for a cocktail that is meh--but that is never the case at Michy's! Their speciality cocktails are consistently amazing and whenever I have ordered other cocktails from the bar (gimlet, for example), they've been excellent. The ambiance is very nice and they did a great job updating the patio during Covid to allow for more seating/outdoor dining. It looks like some people have complained that they felt rushed here--in my experience I have never felt rushed. But if you are the type to really linger for hours at the table, book a later reservation so there is no one coming behind you (they seem to generally do an early seating and a later seating, like 5/5:30 and 7/7:30). I eat here every time I'm in a Rehoboth and whenever I try somewhere different, I always just wish I came to Michy's! Don't miss this place when you're in Rehoboth! read more

food was OK but expected better. biggest issue was learning at check out that several other customers bills had been mistakenly charged to my credit card. waiter gave me a copy of mistaken receipts and suggested I moniter my credit account. WHAT!!!!!! Fortunately, 24 hours later only one erroneous bill had been applied to our account. So far. Meanwhile, we weren't offered as much as a free cup of copy! Great experience? This restaurant came so highly recommended, hence, my decision to take my family there for a special occasion, albeit with great disappointment. First, this place is not cheap. Bring plenty of cash. That being said, I can not express my disappointment in the staff. Especially the manager who decided it was ok to approach one my guest when she didn't like my comments regarding being overcharged for a drink that was undrinkable. Had I heard the comment, I would have made a scene. Lucky for them. The worst of which was when prior to being seated, I personally informed the waitress that we were celebrating two birthdays. The waitress did nothing to acknowledge this celebration. Not a candle, a happy birthday wish. Nothing!! After receiving a $402 bill, I thought to myself how sad, that we had to end the evening without the recognition of the two birthdays. I can not tell you how upset this made me. So, these people get two black eyes. One for not caring, the other for approaching my guest with their off color comments. To end this, I will never patronize this place ever again. Another wonderful night at Michy's. We didn't have reservations but went in a whim and we're able to snag bar seats, score ! The service with our 2 bartenders was amazing- typical at this creative local spot. We started with an appetizer of firecracker shrimp, always delicious, then moved into a few specials for dinner. My date had the pan roasted beef tenderloin with fingerling potatoes, sun dried tomatoes, fresh basil, local asparagus and blue cheese butter. It was amazing- he almost licked the plate. I had the swordfish special, with fresh corn, smoked bacon, red pepper, potato hash, basil and lime. Every time I try a new seafood dish at Michy's it is the best thing I've ever eaten. Beyond amazing. We had a few cocktails to go with our dinner and enjoyed great conversation with our bar mates. We ended our evening with a homemade ice cream sandwich- dark chocolate chip mint. Another hit. We don't go to Michy's frequently- but it is one of the absolutely best restaurants in Sussex County Delaware. The creative menu and absolutely fresh local ingredients combined with personable and professional service never disappoints. Very disappointing... I've been to Michelin star restaurants that offer more. Paying for water and no bread; odd. Ordered the short ribs which was a portion of.beef which was tender but flavor.level of Sunday pot roast at a diner. Vegetables were raw; could not peirce with a fork. Rigatoni bolanaise was missing tomatoes in the sauce and very salty. Yuck. Thought to try to violet margarita...had zero taste, definitely not violet and then the rim was old bay. Completely ruined it; violet and old.bay, what were they thinking. Tables had vases with plastic flowers from the dollar store as well as.the planters on the new patio. Will not.go back. read more
