Just fantastic food. All of it. Baked beans are amazing, full of brisket. I cant say enough.

Fat Daddy's BBQ My wife and I drive past this place all the time on our way to my mom's house. Usually it's later in the evening when they're already closed, or it's Monday-Wednesday when they're not open when we're heading back home. This time it was around 7:00, we were driving by, and I thought, "Let's stop in and grab some dinner and try something new." The first thing we noticed getting out of the car was the smell outside, which honestly wasn't very pleasant. Across the street there are several chicken barns, so I'm assuming that may have been part of it. When we walked in, we were greeted right away and told to sit wherever we liked. Inside is very nicely decorated. There's a counter with a few seats, several two- and four-top tables, and through a small hallway there are larger tables that I'm guessing become communal seating when it gets busy. Our server, Jaylin, came over quickly to take our drink order. He explained the beer options and mentioned they had homemade lemonade and sweet tea. My wife asked for unsweet tea but they only offer sweet tea, so she ended up getting water. I ordered the sweet tea and they definitely weren't kidding -- it's sweet! For dinner we ordered the three-meat plate with brisket and pit beef, along with collard greens and coleslaw. The food came out looking good, and I actually took a picture, but of course now I can't find it on my phone. The one disappointing thing was the brisket presentation. Instead of sliced brisket, it came out looking more like a pile of shredded beef. The meat itself was tender and flavorful, and some pieces had a nice bark on them. The pit beef was also tender and served warm, although I was expecting more traditional sliced beef. The collard greens were very good. I asked for some cider vinegar for them and was initially told they didn't have any. A few minutes later, a gentleman walked by and asked how everything was. I mentioned the vinegar situation and he immediately said they had gallons of it and brought some over, which I appreciated. The coleslaw just wasn't my style. I prefer shredded cabbage slaw, while theirs was chopped. It wasn't bad -- we still finished it -- just not my personal preference. I noticed another table got cornbread that looked really good, so I ordered a piece. Unfortunately, that was another small disappointment. It looked good on the outside, but once I cut into it, it was very dense and seemed to be mostly cornmeal without any actual corn in it. After taking a bite, it also seemed like it may have been microwaved because the inside had a rubbery texture. Overall, the meats were good and the sides were solid. One thing to note: make sure you read the ENTIRE menu carefully. There is a $5 upcharge for double meat. Yes, it's printed in red, but I completely overlooked it. Personally, I don't think the extra meat was worth the additional charge, and had I noticed it beforehand I probably would have ordered something different. It would have been nice if the server had casually mentioned the upcharge when ordering. Honestly, he probably would have gotten a better tip. They also offer homemade desserts, which I'll definitely try next time. Another table ordered the bread pudding and it looked amazing. One last thing: I understand we were there close to closing time, but while we were still eating, Jaylin started sweeping the rugs at the entrance inside the restaurant and rolling them up. That's probably something that should either be done outside or after the last customers leave. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and definitely look forward to stopping in again whenever we come through while they're open. read more

I had a very uncomfortable experience at Fat Daddy's Barbecue today, and I feel obligated to share it so no one else gets hurt the way I did. While sitting on one of the wooden bench seats and placing my order with my husband, I suddenly felt something stab into the back of my left thigh. The pain was immediate and intense. When I reached back, I realized a piece of the bench had broken off and gone inside my skin. I was wearing a dress, so I jumped up in a panic trying to get it out. My husband couldn't see it at first because it was embedded inside my leg. After several attempts, we finally managed to pull it out -- and the piece of wood had blood on it. I now have a painful welt on my thigh, and as a diabetic, this kind of injury is especially concerning because of the risk of infection. I'm also concerned about what germs or bacteria were in that wood. I showed the piece of the bench to the waitress (it was her first day, and she clearly didn't know what to do), and I asked her to let the manager know because I didn't want anyone else to experience this. No one came to check on me. No one asked if I was okay. My husband eventually had to ask for our food to-go because I was so shaken and miserable I couldn't even stay to eat. When I went to the counter and asked for the manager myself, she came out and gave a very dismissive "I'm sorry about that, I'll check it out." I followed her to show her the bench, and her response was, "Yeah, I see. I'll just have them turn the bench to the other side." That was it. No concern, no incident report, no offer to help, no acknowledgment of how serious this was -- after we spent $88 on our meals. This experience completely ruined my day, left me injured, and left me extremely disappointed in the lack of care or responsibility shown by management. I truly hope they fix this issue before someone else gets hurt. read more

The ribs and brisket is good. The downside is I never been to a bbq place they only served pulled pork sandwich just with sauce all ready on it. That tells me they're trying to hide something. Should be able to add your own sauce on it. If it's good they will serve it without sauce. The service is good, time it takes get the food is good. The ambiance is ok nothing special. I couldn't give it 5 stars with having the pulled pork sandwich only in sauce. read more

I purchased a $127 to go order for my husband's birthday. I specifically asked the phone for a lean brisket and was told we only have lean brisket. I thought excellent. Despite my request, the order arrived with fatty brisket. I promptly returned the order, only to receive inedible brisket in return. Since I'm over 50 miles away and home, there's not much I can do other than share my experience. This is not the first time this has happened with brisket not acceptable, and it's disheartening because my family generally enjoys this establishment. We stopped en route from DC to Rehoboth. We had a pulled pork sandwich and a 1/2 chicken platter (with sides of macaroni and cheese and Cole slaw) all fantastic, and two sweet teas for just over $20. My wife found reviews for Fat Daddy's and we knew we had to check it out while in the area. The restaurant is located in a rural area about half way between Seaford and Georgetown. We arrived shortly after 12pm and went inside where there were several people picking up to-go orders. Due to covid they were only offering table service outside which is where we headed. Amy quickly greeted us and took our drink orders. I ordered a diet soda and my wife ordered the Mama Frey's Homemade Lemonade. We both decided on our entrees, I ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of mac-n-cheese and my wife ordered 6 of the smoked chicken wings also with a side of mac-n-cheese. During our visit we also met Fat Daddy, we learned the restaurant has been in operation for about 8 years when Fat Daddy retired after 38 years as a mason. He told us he took his hobby of grilling/smoking and made it into a business. He was very friendly and welcoming and told us that all the meats except the chicken is smoked with hickory wood while the chicken is cooked on Kingsford charcoal briquettes. Our orders arrived quickly and looked awesome! Amy also brought us two barbecue sauces, hot and regular. We dug in and were both impressed with the creaminess and cheesiness of the mac-n-cheese. My wife really enjoyed the chicken wings and said they were much bigger than the average chicken wings. My brisket sandwich was delicious and very tender and juicy. My wife really enjoyed the lemonade as well. The prices were reasonable as well. This is a definite must visit if you are in the area - everything was a definite 5-stars!!!! read more

This is definitely a locals place. It is off the beaten path, but very crowded. Not sure if they were short staffed, but the service was off and slow. The pork ribs and brisket were tasty. We have been going to fat daddys for about 8 years , the service and atmosphere has allways been great . We are planning a wedding and decided on fat daddys to do the catering , we called and asked to speak to one of the owners , a lady came to the phone she was a little brash but that was ok , fast forward to saturday , we took our daughter the groom , his parents and their 3yr old grand daughter for a taste test , what a mistake ! The 2 appetizers we ordered took 35 mins , the place almost empty , maybe 4 tables , in fact when we walked in our waiter was sitting at the bar playing on his phone , fast forward another 40 mins and 1 meal came out , after complaining to the waiter and then the owner our meals half of them cold came out well almost all of them , they forgot the child's meal altogether and when they did bring it out it was wrong not only once but twice , I told the waiter this was bullshit , he stormed off and out she came OMG yelling and screaming at the top of her lungs , we were shocked I asked her to please stop and she said no ! Now the 3yr old was visibly upset , the grooms mother even asked her to quiet down there was no need to shout , this made her worse , neither myself or my husband ate , we were all in shock , he the owner took 50% off the price , but the damage was done , we informed him we would not be using them for the wedding , while we were outside apologizing to everyone for the disgusting behavior, he the owner came out and told us that they didn't want to cater our wedding anyway ! No wonder they are now only open a couple of days a week for a few hours a day because business has dropped off and is up for sale , with her disgusting mouth i wonder why ! Stopped here today on my way back from a trip over the Bridge. It is definitely out of the way if you are coming out from the beach on 404. Only open for lunch on Thursdays and Sundays, but they stay open later for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays - the Yelp hours are wrong. I had the pork bbq sandwich which came with chips, a pickle, and a tiny bit of cole slaw. I wasn't overwhelmed with the cole slaw. But OMG. The pork bbq is to DIE FOR. I worked in NC for many years and have had their pork bbq, which I absolutely love (vinegar based), but I must say the flavors of this pork (Delaware bbq based) were exceptional. They have sauces you can get on the side if you want. I got them and threw some "hot" on it. It's not very hot by the way....unless you're like me, and you like hot. I want to go back and try their brisket and everything else. As people have commented the place is rustic, probably MAGA owned, or whatever. It was just awesome. Lunch came with a refillable sweet tea for a whopping total of TEN BUCKS...where are you gonna find that today. Small surcharge if you pay with a card. We stopped by Fat Daddy's on the way back to our neck of the woods after a long day at the beach and I can honestly say, as a BBQ lover, and self proclaimed Pit Master, I thoroughly enjoyed their style of BBQ. Everything was delicious, our waitress was nice, and our food came out in a timely fashion. Fat Daddy's isn't a five star restaurant, it's a double wide trailer with park style picnic tables on the inside, giving you an old school BBQ joint feel. But what it lacks in upscale decor it makes up for it with its delicious food, and home away from home feel. If I was forced to add one area of improvement, and again, I'd have to be forced, we had the three meat two sides platter with the North Carolina Pulled Pork, Beef Brisket, and BBQ Ribs, with Green Beans and BBQ baked beans, and the North Carolina Pulled Pork wasn't vinegary as most NC Pulled pork that I've grown up eating(my Dad is from NC and I've traveled there every summer my entire life, so I'm very familiar). But that's me reaching, because their style of Pulled Pork was still very delicious a I would definitely visit again. read more

Wow! This pitmastet knows what they're doing! Clearly a place to stop for excellent BBQ. Listing says Georgetown, but it's actually closer to Bridgeville. I'd travel for this place. Wings were succulent and full of flavor. Hot sausage had that 'snap' and was delicious. Also had the brisket, also good, but we LOVED the other meats so much, it was half a step behind. All sides are homemade and generous. Pick your favorite. Call ahead for pickup because it's all made to order and takes time to get it perfect. Service is attentive with updates. Lots of catering leaving the place and I can see why. Inside is very rustic but clean and fine. Hershey's ice cream and shakes. Not many options for good quick food in this area. Luckily we have this bbq gem. Stopped by for the first time today and was not disappointed. I ordered the kids meal .... upgraded to the brisket slider and upgraded to the adult drink, with the included side (I got fries) it totaled $11. It was the perfect amount of food! My husband got the regular brisket sandwich... be careful it just comes with a bag of chips, we went back in and got baked beans... best decision because they were delicious, a bag of chips just don't to it when your at a bbq place. Glad we hadn't left the parking lot yet bc we also needed bbq sauces... a pet peeve of mine is bbq places who a.) do not supply bbq already, or b.) don't even ASK if you want it. I would have been upset if we pulled off without it. It was extra $ and they give you way more than you will ever need... idk this whole situation was not well orchestrated IMO. The sweet iced tea, I regret to say that it either wasn't, or definitely did not taste, homemade. Not great. He could not maneuver his power chair up the curb while making the sharp turn onto the sidewalk - he had to be pushed by restaurant staff. read more

Fun roadside BBQ joint with warm-hearted service I will return when in the area. There is a biker bar vibe but it was non-intrusive and I did not feel alienated. What a hidden gem, this place is delicious. My boyfriend stops here every time on his way from DC to Ocean City and now I know why. This not only has some of the best bbq, but if you're a french fry lover, these might be the best. Loaded fries on weekends might be my favorite thing except that I think they are missing out since the fries should be topped with meat. The mix it up combo is great we like to try different meat each time. The brisket is a favorite and so is the pork. The sides that they offer are also very good. The collard greens and cole slaw go great with the meat. They have two in house sauces that are a little on the sweet side but really good. I had the most amazing tender brisket sandwich that was moist and juicy yesterday. Guy Fieri needs to come visit Fat Daddy's. I took a city slicker there for her first time yesterday and she said. "why have you never taken me here?" (twice) Fat Daddy's is down home and friendly. You can get the brisket sandwich for $9.99 served with chips and pickle or do yourself a favor and get the brisket platter for $13.45 including two sides EVERYTHING is homemade. There is no SYSCO premade food. There are about 10 different sides offered but the potato salad, and French fries are the bomb. Closed on Monday and Tuesday. I spoke to the owner , Fat Daddy himself, yesterday who told me this used to be a diner back in the day. Also, Mama Frey, came out from the kitchen to tell us she had finished her homemade chicken noodle soup! Mama Frey makes the best bread pudding you have ever had however they had no desserts yesterday. Fat Daddy's is the best barbeque on the Eastern Shore. They are also known for their ribs. Excellent and varied flavors across their meats; super casual, inviting atmosphere; helpful friendly service... what else... a few beers on draft... tv... outdoor/indoor dining options... next door to a large fruit/veg market with a children's play area... ooops, sorry for the wandering digression... let's stay focused on the food, because it was awesome! We split one of their samplers (the Pig Pen) for around $30. The Pig Pen comes with... 3 small sandwiches (pulled pork, beef brisket and a cheeseburger), a 1/2 rack of ribs, 1/2 dozen chicken wings (these are smoked wings - smoked for over 2 hours) ... wait I'm not done... it also comes with a cornpone (whatever that is... it's really good) and 2 sides (slaw and beans). The smoke came through on the wings, the spice came through most on the pulled pork, the ribs had a terrific bark... and my favorite was a tossup between the brisket (which is a meat I just love) and the cheeseburger (which was shockingly good)... wait maybe it was the pulled pork... ugh, my senses were overwhelmed, making it so hard to choose. Thankfully we didn't have to. You might find a BBQ that suits your taste preferences better, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a place that delivers flavor and value as well as the folks at Fat Daddy's do. read more

Average would be my review. Service was average. Food was a bit salty and average. I posted a pic if my receipt and I thought it is a bit tacky to charge for a burger they add for ine cheese over another or charge for onions but the waitress doesn't tell you there is an extra charge. They fries were soggy where I expected a crunch. The decorations inside were abundant . The owner stopped by and was friendly. I doubt we will go back but it's worth a try just be aware of the extra fees they charge. read more

I had high hopes for this establishment. Cashiers were pleasant . Ribs were burned dry and the spice rub they used must have been purchased or made by the devil himself. Ribs were to To To SPICY/HOT. To spicy/hot for family to eat. MAC and cheese was ok lacked flavor and greens were bland. Food prices are reasonable, but being a bbq and smoked meats fan, if you can't get the Ribs half way correct I think I will past on the rest. I am not a picky person, but this was not a good meal.
