Another visit after another trip to the beach. This time we had lunch offerings. I picked the turkey club which comes with fries, soup of the day, coleslaw and pickle. He picked the cheesesteak with included the same. Suffice to say, we both took home leftovers. And with a bill under $20, it was the cheapest meal we had all weekend.

Perfect spot to stop after heading home to NJ without getting off our route. This place is a complete dive but still awesome. It's like one of those diners stuck in the past. Everything inside looks old and tired but service and food was great. Prices here are unbelievable. Where do you get a huge cup of soup and grilled cheese and fries for $5! My husband had the most expensive meal, the salmon special, at $9.99. His came with two sides and a huge salad. For 5 of us to eat with drinks and apps we spent $60...amazing! We left with full bellies and didn't get off track. It does seem like a very local spot even though it's right on a main highway. The waitresses were talking to other customers like they were there often.

Breakfast was good and low prices. Service was good. Small town diner but it got crowded quickly. The tables are distanced from each other.

The food was hot and tasty. The second time was a weekend and it was extremely busy. There were still a handful of tables available and you just pick any table you want and take a seat. I was not as happy with the service as it took a very long time for someone to give us menus and then we waited quite awhile for the server to come back and take our order. Once our order was placed it was a reasonable time to get our food but not crazy long. Our server didn't check back to refill drinks so that was not great but the food was still good so that was a plus. Will we go back, absolutely, but I will try to avoid the busy times.

On the other hand, service was friendly, attractive, helpful and turned out a very good Patty Melt and Fries for lunch. Although I came in wanting breakfast, I quickly learned that the morning meal was no longer available. The PM wasn't a bad alternative, although it was so greasy that I went through a half dozen napkins cleaning my hands, and switched to knife and fork for the sake of the environment. The customers seemed to be mostly local regulars who knew the servers and cashier and enjoyed the comfort of the dining room and kitchen. The lights were out in the back hall to the restrooms making for a dark walk to the toilets. Hope that is fixed soon for the sake of all the older customers who need the facilities. We shared a salad, which was good; the raspberry vinaigrette was just too sweet. Chicken noodle soup, comfort in a bowl. For our mains, BF had the ribeye steak; I must say, it was cooked perfectly medium and was well-seasoned. So much better than most expensive steak houses we've been to for a fraction of the cost. I had the shrimp scampi; the sauce was good, but the shrimp tasted a little off. And we got the bill, it was inexpensive, and no sales tax? Whoa! This was a great find!

Both times the food was good and the place was very clean. They have an extensive menu Otherwise there were some differences. The lunch was great as we were served quickly and efficiently. We were one of only about eight tables seated so not very busy at all. Our service was quick and extremely friendly and the food arrived very quickly. Made a great first impression. The second time here was durning a Sunday morning breakfast hour. It was seat yourself and there were tables open. The server acknowledged us after about ten minutes and it was at least another 15 minutes before she came and took our drink orders and asked if we wanted breakfast or lunch. After about five minutes we got he menus and then waited awhile again for her to come back so we could order our food. It was all quite a wait for our food to arrive once ordered and the server never checked in us for refills on drinks so this experience was not as a great. I don't know if it is always like this when it is busy but I will shoot for off hours in the future. So, will I come back, yes because the ambiance is nice and the food has consistently been good but I will aim to come at more off hours so maybe I don't run into service issues unless I have lots of extra time.

They let us know that our waffles kept sticking and they might have to give us pancakes instead. I found that odd. Makes me think the maker was so dirty that they couldn't get it to work. They brought us our eggs and put a slice of raunchy cheese on top. It was like eating plastic. The cheese was so bad it never melted on the piping hot eggs. It peeled off like a molding. The rest of the food was slop. If your dog sniffs it and walks away, it's a sign. We didn't dine in. Good thing because we ended up throwing everything away and driving to Rehoboth. Later we discovered they literally serve rodents (muskrats). Supposedly it's a Delaware thing, but they are the only ones that do it. GAG!
