I was visiting just after Xmas and few places near my hotel were open so this was dinner. I started with soup that was under flavored but not bad. The main meal was the 'meatloaf' which was anything but, with a side of mashed potatoes. Both were drenched in a thick brown lumpy gravy. I eat everything and couldn't finish this meal. This place is the quintessential DINER! Employees are friendly and attentive. Most of the other patrons seem to know each other but that did not stop them from being friendly towards us. This was the only place open at 10 o'clock at night during the week. I ordered a caesar salad with grilled shrimp. They made a garden salad with carrots, tomatoes, onions, celery, cucumbers, and MICROWAVED SHRIMP. I asked why they made it that way and they said "we thought this would be better". It was gross. We also ordered jumbo shrimp cocktail. they delivered it in a styrofoam "to go" container and the shrimp were not cleaned and were also microwaved. They took the shrimp cocktail off the bill, but charged us for the extra shrimp on the salad. yech. yuck. ugh. Maybe they do Diner food, like eggs, better. read more

This is typical small town diner type of place. My family was on our way from Boston to the Outer Banks, NC for the Memorial Day weekend and after an 8hr drive we had 4hrs left before we got to our destination, but the sun just came up so breakfast time. 2 adults, 2 toddlers, a 8 year old and a teenager needed breakfast. This place is not for those who are on a diet, picky eaters or expecting high end kind of meal. This is a small town feel, diner, with good old fashion food. The waitress who was a silver hair women who was very friendly and nice, told us the specials and we order enough food and then some for all of use for less than $30 and thats with a $5 tip. The price for 6 people was good, the food was good, I would go back if I was in the area. Definately a great unhealthy place to eat. I'm so bummed!! I loved this little hole in the wall. The staff was much less efficient and I felt like I was inconveniencing them. After waiting for our waitress to finish her conversation with a coworker, we finally received a menu. We ordered the liver and onions and the "stuffed" pork chop special. There must've been a different cook because the liver and pork chops were cooked to death and my chops weren't stuffed, they were laid on top of stuffing. I agree that their breakfast is good. However, we will NEVER eat there for dinner again. My companion ordered a special -- chicken cordon bleu. His first few bites were good (mostly batter and cheese) but then he discovered the inside of the chicken breast was nearly raw. When we summoned the waitress, her response was, "Well, I didn't cook it"! Unbelievable! She didn't offer to take it back. There was no manager present. When we got the check we had to suggest to her that perhaps we should get a credit. She grudgingly said she would not charge for our beverages but would not remove the chicken. I think we all might be talking about a different place. The friendliest person was the deaf guy who took our drink order. I ordered scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon and French toast. Stopped in on Memorial Day. I ordered an open faced meatloaf sandwich with fries and cole slaw. What I got was 2slices of meatloaf on a plate (no bread) covered in brown jelly (their idea of gravy). I swear it was the consistency of fruit jelly you put on peanut butter sandwiches. The cole slaw was nothing more than cabbage and mayo. No seasoning, no other veggies (carrots, etc.), no tang. Just thick yucky mayo. My dining partner ordered pancakes and eggs. The pancakes looked good but they forgot his eggs. The waitress delivered the food so fast and didn't come back until he had finished his pancakes when he informed her that he didn't get his eggs, she apologized and brought them out right away...they were stone cold. Only about 3 other tables occupied so it wasn't a case of her being busy. On the upside, it did look like everything was homemade ....just not Good homemade. read more

This place could use an upgrade in its customer service skills. It says to seat yourself and when we did try to sit at a table in the back the waitress was rude and told us we couldn't sit there. If you look at this place from the outside it doesn't look very inviting. Actually when you walk in it doesn't look very inviting. It's kind of old and run down. If you can get past that, they actually have pretty good food. They give you large portions so you better be hungry. read more

Venture in ..! I think this has probably the friendliest sevice, the most delicious comfort food and crazy affordable menu of any "dive" I've ever been to! I cannot say enough good things about Harvest Diner! I was traveling with my Mom and we were getting hungry. I had been craving Diner food and thanks to Yelp, knew this place was up ahead. As I pulled in the parking lot I must admit I was a little hesitant at its appearance but hey!.. I'm not scared of an adventure and while Im a foodie, Im no dive snob so in we go! We both got (huge!) open faced sandwiches that each included 2 sides and a salad that could've easily been a meal itself. Soooo much food! Did I mention that it was delicious? Like someone's Grandma is in the kitchen making it from scratch delicious? Mmmm! I think including our soft drinks our bill came to $22. We took the left overs and ate them the next night for dinner! We went there on Saturday 6/14/14 for dinner with my parents, while visiting from New Jersey. I have to say, at first sight it doesn't look like much inside or out...however...the waitress was extremely friendly and the food was amazing!!! My dad had the Prime Rib, which was the biggest I've ever seen and was also cooked the way he asked. I would highly recommend stopping in for a bite anytime you're in the area, I know we will!!!! read more
