We liked this place so much - we ate here 2 nights! The first stop was later in the evening. We had to wait a little while to be seated. I had scoped out the menu and saw there was plenty we liked and prices were "normal." Added bonuses include live music and plenty of TVs with sports on. We were given warm cornbread to start off, It was really good, We knew what we wanted to pretty quickly and put our order in. Hubby went with burger the first night and smoked wings the second night. I got the half chicken with green beans and collard greens both nights. Our food was ready in pretty good time. Our waitress was attentive and efficient. We had the same girl both nights as we sat at the same table - but she didn't seem to recognize us - which is a little odd only because my hair is partly purple - so people tend to remember me. Hubby said his burger was good as was the cole slaw. He ate most every bite. The wings, on the hand, were perfectly smoked. However, like most restaurants, they lacked any good sauce selections. The sauce they passed off as hot was pretty much Frank's hot sauce. Also, he got 6 wings and couple pieces of celery and dressing - so it really wasn't a meal. It left plenty of room for an ice cream cone for him afterwards. On the other hand, my meal was absolutely AWESOME. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The first night I got BBQ sauce on it and added more from the sauces on the table. The second night I ate it plain and it was amazing and flavorful without BBQ sauce. The chicken was a little undercooked the first night but the meat came off the bone - so it was done enough for me to eat. The second night it was perfect. The green beans were perfectly al dente. They had a nice oil and salt coating. And the collard greens were to die for. I'm not sure what they were cooked in - some kind of oil/fat with incredible flavor. Needless to say I ate every single bite both nights - and that's A LOT of food. I would definitely return if given the opportunity. They also had a salad I could order if I ever got sick of the chicken. As I said, the prices are more reasonable than what we saw at other restaurants. You could get a sandwich for under $20. My entree was $28 and that's on the higher end. I highly recommend if you're looking for a good meal with decent services and prices.

The Smoked Cherry Old Fashioned was a hit!

We saw a video for Bethany Blues on the ferry and decided to check it out. Right away we loved the bourbon bar and cool vibe. We sat at one of the hightop tables facing the bar and TVs. I ordered a Smoked Cherry Old Fashioned, and when it was delivered to our table, our server lit it to enhance the smoky taste. It only had a touch of smokiness to it which I liked. My husband ordered the Blues Signature Manhattan which he also enjoyed. I love that you can create your own BBQ combos at Bethany Blues, so I opted for a pulled pork and Carolina chopped pork combo with a side of their smokehouse baked beans and marinated cucumbers and onions. I loved everything on my plate although my favorite was the Carolina pulled pork. Everything was delicious. No dry meat here. The side of cornbread was a delightful accompaniment as well. My husband also ordered the combo with pulled pork, beef brisket, and pulled chicken. No complaints. This restaurant has a dedicated takeout window too which is great. For excellent BBQ and a variety of unique bourbons, this is the place!

Great happy hour and football specials in the off season. Friendly bartenders and wait staff. Huge bourbon selection. Try the deviled eggs, wings and boom boom shrimp.

Great atmosphere, big TV to watch a game, staff is very friendly. Fried Pickles were really good, and the meats were ok. Brisket and Pork were dry.

The "pigs on the wing," which are small (wing sized) pork ribs, were amazing. We did not want to commit to a whole rack of ribs, but this alternative to hot wings was the perfect size and they were very, very good - smoky and tender, but with some crispy bits. The brisket nachos were less successful. They were good, but were heavily cheese-forward. Just not enough of the other toppings, like smoked jalapeños or brisket. The smoked salsa was very delicious, though.

Sat at the bar for lunch so that we can watch the Michigan game, husband was perfectly happy to let me take advantage of daytime happy hour here. I had to make me a tequila drink with a punch, while he had a $5 Dewey beer. Although the birra taco is on the happy hour menu, I ordered the meal so I could get the side dish of street corn too. While I really love the meaty tacos, and the consomme was wonderful, the streetcar and was bizarre uncooked in a strange thick glop of a sauce. I actually had to double check to make sure that it wasn't flour they thickened it with, but it was cornstarch and safe for me (but not palatable). He had a brisket sandwich that was absolutely enormous! The smoke brisket was piled with french fried onions, a beautiful dish with a side of potato salad he did really like. I would call this a mixed bag of a meal, but the meat here is absolutely stellar.

This was our second time to the new location within a week, and we thought the first visit was amazing but today was even better. Chris took care of us at the bar and he was super attentive and also a blast. Food was dynamite, and the bar is beautiful with the huge whiskey display. 100/10 recommend!!

While walking down Rehoboth Ave, I got a whiff of barbecue and followed it right to this place, dragging my husband with me (who is not as big of a bbq fan as I am). This place surprised me when walking in, as it is quite lovely, which you don't always expect from a bbq place. There was plenty of seating between the "dining area" and the bar area. Now, let's get to the good part: the food. Everything we had was delicious, fall-off-the-bone, hot, and fresh. This place had a selection of pulled meats and ample sides to go with it, giving the diner a lot of variety to choose from him, which helps someone like me who doesn't eat a lot be able to order something different from my husband who has unlimited stomach space. Overall, loved this local barbecue spot!

Now we know why it's tough to get a seat; this is quality dining that brings customers back again and again. Ben and Diane (mixologist/hostess respectively) have been the owners for two years. I can't make any judgement about the prior ownership but I can say the current owners have nailed it. It was one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. We sat at the bar and from the outset Ben made us feel comfortable and he obviously appreciated us as customers. The cocktails were exceptionally prepared. It's obvious he is not merely a bartender and is proud of the special attention and customized twists given to some very traditional cocktails--Sazerac, Manhattan, cosmo. The cream based crab soup was hearty and the seasoning was well balanced. It was a great start. My partner had the fish special and I had the short ribs as entrees. Both were spectacular. Ben had told us that "if this were going to be your last meal, have the short ribs." It wasn't our last meal but his assessment was accurate. I can't recall having short ribs that just seem to melt in your mouth. We were going to defer on dessert but opted for a variation of a flourless chocolate cake with caramel topping. Served warm it was the perfect end to a perfect meal. It's obvious that Ben and Diane have assembled a team that is as committed to excellence as are the owners. We've already made reservations or our next visit. Can't wait!

It's definitely not a large establishment so making a reservation would be recommended.

Lets begin with the atmosphere because it was delightful. Its a small, intimate space where the spirit of a speakeasy shines through easily. The exposed ductwork, the classy yet eclectic decor, it is a delightful little space. Service was great. Fast, funny, and polite through the entire meal. We went for drinks and apps and I gotta say we will be coming back for dinner for sure me and my wife. How about the food and drink? Well, any of y'all who follow me know I'm not a huge drinker, but I did try the Oolong Hot Toddy and was extremely happy! Warm, the sochu and tea mix so well together, a nice garnish of candied ginger and lemon makes the presentation of this delightful little libation. (Ha, a pun!) Now, the food. Cheese board was great but, thats cheese anyone can assemble a cheese board. No, my credit goes to the crab dip and the calamari. Both dishes were done perfectly, not too greasy, beautifully crunchy calamari and supremely flavorful crab dip. Overall an easy 5, I'd rate 6 if I could.

Make reservations as this is a small space. Very comfortable seating. Lots of decor that again fits the space. Great music playing as well. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and then escorted back into the speakeasy which has its own door. Once inside, we were greeted and introduced to the two servers who worked together all evening. They were very attentive and friendly. They made the visit enjoyable. The menu lights up... literally. Super fun to pick from the numerous drink and food options. For a speakeasy, you will be surprised at how many different options there are. The prices are beyond reasonable for the craft cocktails and amazing food. Started off with cocktails (first round) - Veruca Salt (highly recommend due to its spicy foam & deliciousness), Purple Butterfly (yum), The Ultimate Dirty Martini (very pungent), and The Smoked Cherry (nice presentation/event - also tasty). All of these were delicious and made well. Second round was The Night Shift and a Brown Butter Old Fashioned and again, both delightful. Dessert round was Creme Brûlée Espresso Martini (highly recommend - great presentation with a small mallet that cracks the brûlée on top & absolutely amazing - this is a sweet drink so loom as a dessert option), Espresso Martini (hazelnut flavor and good), and a Carijilo. All items from the bar were super tasty and well made. This is a craft drink place and the quality and attention to details are spot on for the speakeasy vibe. Not only are the drinks superb, but the food is also very well made and very affordable. We started with the cheese tower which is a great option for a group to enjoy. We also ordered the calamari which came with the most delicious horseradish dipping sauce, and lamb lollipops (4 per order). All of this was delicious. Then, tried the seafood bisque, French onion soup, Pumpkin/Crab/Mushroom Soup, and Seared Sea Scallops. The soups were super filling and all had a terrific flavor profile. The scallops were served on risotto and this was great. Seriously, the food is amazing. Not what you normally would find in a speakeasy. They even had dessert options (we had drinks instead). This was a lovely experience. Just overall fantastic and a great surprise hidden in a beach town. For sure make reservations. If visiting for the week, just go ahead and pick two nights to visit so you can try all of the things. Well done. Looking forward to another visit.

Thereafter, the food on the "Asian Fusion" menu sounds great, but leaves much to be desired. More confusion, than fusion. Dumpling Special is a cool notion (why not save a few bucks?). But, when it arrives without ginseng slivers, nor a spoon for dripping the dark vinegar into the removed top knot to mix with the beef soup within the Xiao Long Bau, it becomes apparent skill is lacking in the kitchen. It doesn't help that these dough pouches are commercially bought and not made by knowing hands. The Singapore Black Pepper Crab bowl was sure Szechuan spicy enough, but had so little crab that my crustacean loving wife turned on her phone flashlight to find some. They were ground so small that they were nearly invisible, but could be slightly tasted by their mild sweetness. Just not enough substance to balance the other ingredients. My Cumin Lamb Ho Fun was likewise deep into the heat and looked good with the fat noodles mixed throughout. However, once again the kitchen's lack of deftness appeared with too many tough, stringy and fatty pieces of lamb that were unpleasant and overbore the generally decent quality of the rest of the dish. From my experience, that only happens when attention isn't paid to the texture of the meat when slicing. Cutting lamb against the grain is a no-no. So, even though I enjoyed the Moon Door entrance, the Bodhi (Enlightenment) name and all the on point Asian decor, it was disappointing that all that spirituality stopped at the kitchen door. 2.5 Shakyamuni-less Stars.
