Do not use for cross country move! 1. After 3 weeks still no ETA. I had to fly back to get my stuff which they neglected to tell me was in a different town 100 miles away. Then I uhauled my own stuff. Of the $2300 I had paid them they agreed to refund $250 but I had to sign a document that said I wouldn't leave them any bad reviews. I never got the refund. The owner called to cuss me and my boyfriend out for half an hour and refuse to move us after my fair review, which I'm keeping unedited below so you may judge for yourself. My favorite was when he said incredibly sexist things like, "you're just upset you're going to miss your pedicure appointment." He also made sure to call my boyfriend and I dipshits before he hung up like a child. You can believe what you want, but the owner literally said he was just going to write a response to our reviews and make us look like assholes. I'm now seeing all the other negative reviews in a different light. I'm glad I didn't give this man a penny of our business and I hope no one else has to deal with this company. They give you really low moving quotes, but it was extremely easy to take that quote to another company and get another moving company with a better deal the same day he cancelled. Original review: Everyone should be aware that when you pick a pick-up time for the movers and literally sign a contract with that moving time, they don't take it into consideration and they probably won't tell you until the day before. My pickup time was set as 9am today on my contract and I had no communication until yesterday that they won't be coming until somewhere between 12pm and 2pm. We have already made plans to turn in our keys and leave after we move everything out. Now, we'll be driving through the night since even after the movers are done we'll have to clean after them before we can turn in our keys to our leasing office. There should've been more communication since I literally have a contract that I signed with them weeks ago saying 9am and I hadn't heard otherwise until yesterday when we move today. At that point, there was nothing to be done since they can't move us at the requested 9am time because they're moving someone else in the morning. The only thing they said was they could refund our deposit and we can get another moving company. That was obviously not a reasonable solution since we were given one day's notice. Now, they just called with an update saying the truck won't get here until between 3 and 4pm. Our leasing office closes at 6pm so now we may not even be able to turn our keys in at all today. I will give an updated review of how the actual movers are once they move our stuff (they may actually be great), but this is just a review of dealing with customer service so far. Turns out our items were in storage in Seattle and it took 2 weeks to get my stuff. Terrible customer service. Also, a lot of my items were damaged and hard case boxes were broken. I submitted an insurance claim for over $300 worth of damage only to be advised that they would reimburse $100. After 5 months I am still trying to get this $100. Aweful. Please save yourself the headache, the hassle and from the lies. Household shipment picked up and full payment made two weeks ago, our things are STILL in California. We moved to the east coast. We now have no date for a delivery. We were upset, demanded to speak to a manager. Alex was put on the phone; he yelled, cursed, called us stupid and hung up on us twice when asking to speak to his manager. (We recorded the whole conversation, after the 1st hang up bc we were shocked) We were never put through to his manager either. PLEASE USE A DIFFERENT COMPANY. We are in our new house with our two small children, with no furniture. Update: 4/3/18 After sending an email to the company email, listed on their website, along with the conversation recording attached, I did receive a call Monday morning. I spoke with a woman named Claire, she was respectful but I'm still waiting for a delivery date.... Our house was packed on the 16th of March, on a Friday. It's now April 3rd, our household goods are still California. I did make an error, on day of pick up, we handed over a check for the payment. They haven't taken the money out yet. Find a reputable mover such as Mayflower or United Van Lines. Use Best West and you will be majorly disappointed as well as feeling ripped off. If you do use them make sure you fully insure your goods from damage or loss otherwise if something is broken or missing expect to only receive $.60/pound of loss--lose an expensive camera weighing a pound, you get reimbursed $.60. They give you a quote, plan on another 15-20% when they arrive to pick your stuff up. Don't count on the day they tell you your things will arrive, the contract allows them 30 days (and nothing you can do if it goes beyond). When your things arrive you better pay up in cash first or they won't deliver. Bottom line is you are at the mercy of the mover so go to the pros who need to maintain their credibility and not to a mover who's labor comes from outside a Home Depot. read more

They do the size bait and switch that all moving companies do. They grossly under quote you and then charge more per pound or cubic food once they've started loading the truck. However, unlike other moving companies, they lost large several items of mine valued at $1,500. Everything was also damp and had to be washed. I guess they stored it in a wet warehouse. They only cover $0.60 per pound per article up to $5k. Basically, that means if they lose or damage something you get nothing Sounds like the other reviewers had similar experiences. Don't use this company. And if you must use them, buy insurance from a 3rd party, you'll need it! read more

vice 4 stars The sales and estimating process needs to be re-vamped. My original estimate was 500cu ft by the estimator over the phone based on a verbal list of items. When the actual crew got here it turns out the estimate was 400cu ft. and thus so was what I was charged. I have no problem being charged for what is fair and the actual crew was great! They worked fast and did an amazing job taking great care of my things. I was actually very impressed by how well they protected my furniture, glass and wood items. Despite the agony of a long move and having to hire movers, guess whether your items will make it ok or not; it help when Eddie and team showed up and patiently explained everything, including unforeseen situations, such as description of cubic feet, etc. They showed up right at 9AM, agreed between 8AM-10AM. Carefully wrapped and loaded items, took his time to explain documents needing signature. Their customer service made it an easier transition. Thank you, Eddie and team. read more

This is by far the worst company I've ever had to deal with. The packers were nice although they charged $400 more than the estimate. I requested a shuttle service because the semi was too large to fit into my complex. I was quoted $250 for that service. When the driver arrived from Cali to Texas, he had no idea that I needed a shuttle and said the cost would be $400. I called customer service and the manager told me it was my fault that I didn't call first so they could discuss the price with the driver. I asked how is the price determined if they hadn't even spoke with the driver about my needs. The manager continued to talk over me saying it was my fault. He then told me to shut my mouth and "shut my f***ing mouth". The call disconnected. I called back and the next guy told me I had 10 minutes to speak. When you're moving across country the last thing you want is to be hit with additional expenses or to be told being charged additional is your fault. Matt the driver was extremely nice and understanding and went out of his way to help me the best way he could. It's a shame that the manager is rude and unprofessional. I believe the Manager's name was Mark. I have two other family members moving to TX in the next month or so. With moves much larger than mine. I will make sure they don't use this company. read more

Nothing but a bait and switch company. Everything upon arrival becomes extra. I measured the CF down to the inch and showed the foreman. He sent a picture to the dispatcher of the load as I had it stacked in the garage. Dispatcher says he does not care what the measurements show and jumped the load by over 300 CF. Dispatcher now says we have to pay for the vacant overhead space along. Invoice jumped from 3600 to 5800. I sent them packing. I should have listened to all the bad reviews on YELP. read more

Pick Up I hired this company over 4 months before I was going to move from California to Texas. They were a day late on the pickup. I was called the day before confirming they were going to pick up my things. A few hours later I was called back saying plans had changed and they were unable to pick up until one day later. I asked if there was any way they could come earlier as this caused me to pay an extra day of rent and delay all of my move out and traveling plans. The service rep told me that he would call back and do what he could but I never got a call. I had to call the next day checking in and they said that by notifying me the day before it was considered "approved" and they were coming the next day and there was nothing they could do. I was going back and forth with the customer care rep, Max, for over 30 min explaining my concerns. I wanted to receive some sort of compensation since they were already late a day and I had to pay money out of my own pocket for staying an extra day at my place and delaying all my plans. He would not take any responsibility for the company being at fault in any way. He offered absolutely no help and at one point even told me that I should cancel and go with another company. If it wasn't so last minute I would have 100% switched but I was already leaving the state one day later and couldn't afford to change my plans so abruptly. My original phone estimate was $1400. I ended up paying $2050. I did have more boxes than I originally stated, but I even left out a large cabinet that was on my original inventory to try to keep the price down. I was told by a previous rep that even if I had 10 more boxes than I originally stated, the price would be the same. Not true. The movers were kind and efficient, however, and I have no complaints about how they packed up my things. Waiting It took ~3 weeks for my things to be delivered. It was so difficult getting any kind of information out of them. Every time I called it was a different story. They would say my things would be loaded one day, then it kept getting delayed, week after week with empty promises. Whenever I called they would say they would check for an update with their dispatcher and call me back. They never called me back and I always had to follow up myself. They kept going back on their word with when my things would be delivered. My mom changed her flight 3 times because she was going to come help me move in but we couldn't plan anything since they would not follow through with anything they said. They said they would call when my things did get loaded onto the truck but they never did. I called at the end of the week like they recommended and they told me my things had left at the beginning of the week, when they told me it likely would not be loaded until later. It seemed as though there was no plan or organization to anything and it was all very frustrating. In their contract however it states that they have 30 days after the stated delivery date to deliver your things, so they technically did nothing wrong in that respect. However as a customer, you would not want to be waiting weeks for your things in an empty home. Delivery I was without a bed or any of my things for 3 weeks and I had already started working. I had to take time off work because I had to meet them. Had I known they were going to take so long I would have had them pickup my things sooner. I even told Max in the beginning if they were going to take longer than 7 days I wouldn't be able to go through with them. He assured me that if they took 2 weeks to deliver they would be out of business. Again, more empty promises. I have no complaints about the delivery. The people that delivered my things and unloaded were different company (Southwest Movers). The driver, Joe, was extremely kind and helpful and even offered me his discount for long carry since BWE prices are ridiculously high. Some of my boxes were crushed but nothing was damaged or lost. The whole process of moving with Best West Express brought so much negative energy and stress into my life during my move. I was thankful that nothing was broken or lost and will give them credit for keeping my things intact. Their customer service is very poor and I would not recommend this company to anyone doing a long distance move. I know planning a long distance move is tough, but if this is your business than I would expect more attentiveness and compassion. If you do choose to do business with this company I would recommend reading the entire contract so you do not have any surprises about extra charges. I would also recommend taking photos or everything you send with them beforehand and having your own extensive inventory just in case you need proof for damages. I would also look into buying the added protection for your items. Please do your research about this company and any other company before you move. I would not want you to endure a negative experience if it could be avoided. read more

Awful company. I got a quote from Seth which was low and when the movers arrived , Carlos one of the movers said it would be $3000.00 more than the quoted price. This was outrageous because I had had an on-site quote from a reputable company and it was only a thousand more, Not $3000! It went back and forth with the office and finally I agreed to pay an extra$1000. but I was under duress. Marilyn said she would look into it and I didn't hear back. It really felt like a scam to me. They had my dates and I did have a deadline but nothing was communicated to anyone and while I am waiting for the delivery it was still sitting in California. Max could not have cared less and told me they legally have 30 days to deliver and can never be sure when a truck will be available. They basically say anything to get the business. At this time I know the TV stand is partly missing and who knows what else. I have moved many times and this is the worst experience. They only give one days notice before delivery also. PLEASE DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!!! to move anything for you, Im so upset right now I feel like crying. First I was moving from CA to TX.. all my belongings were picked up on 6/28/18..everything was cool they wrapped up most of my belongings and left, what I didn't realize was that they didn't immediately ship everything, they take everything to basically a holding station unload everything til they can find a driver. I kept calling to get an estimated delivery date but they said due to it being busy that they couldn't find a driver, once one became available they would contact me. I had already informed them that i was leaving out of the country on 7/18/18 which they were informed of when I made the reservation. They said they could get everything delivered before or by 7/17/18.. they called on I believe thursday or friday the week before delivery to say they found a driver and he could leave that day....so I stated as long as they can deliver before or on 7/17 then that would be good if they couldn't guarantee that then I would just schedule for delivery when I got back from my trip because they offer 30 days free storage...well the Rep stated that that shouldn't be a problem, so I ok'd delivery, I arranged for Best West Express to coordinate with the storage facility because they offered to accept my belongs in lieu of me being gone out the country...well my things didn't get delivered til 7/21 30mins before the storage facility closing. When they tried to deliver initially they said that their shipping truck was too long for them to pull into the storage facility, so I had to pay an additional $900 for them to take everything off the truck so they could change to a smaller truck to pull into the storage facility, which I had to pay. When I got back from vacation to check to make sure my belonging arrived. I was SHOCKED to realize that half my belongings were DAMAGED or BROKEN!!! and they were just haphazardly thrown into the storage unit any old kind of way. Boxes dented and some were ripped/open... I pride myself on having nice things, also I run an in home business and everything was in top condition when they picked everything up..and I have pics to prove it. All 4 of my tables (1 Dinette table, 2 Accent tables, 1 Console table) are damaged and severely scratched/dented and chipped and have to be replaced, 2 of my lamps are broken one is missing and parts are missing, my cd stand is broken, my standing floor fan is completely broken, my backyard grill handle is broken, my business sink is severely damaged and cracked, my Brookstone leather massager is severely scratched and torn, my polk audio speaker has a hole in it and scratched, my futon chair stand is broken, my flower stand is broken, and get this they also delivered furniture that WASN'T EVEN MINE!!!... 1 mini fridge, 1 Bissell steamer vacuum, 1 Shark Rotator vacuum cleaner, and a package with a wall picture in it with someone else's name on it, somewhere someone is missing these items!!! When i saw how everything was I CRIED because it was not that way when they came to get my things... what was the point of them wrapping everything up if it was just going to arrive damaged... their service is BEYOND TERRIBLE..HOW CAN A COMPANY BE THIS RECKLESS!!! (mind you I already paid $3900 initially) and I had to (talk them down to get that price) also don't believe anything they tell you over the phone in regards to quotes (it will be 2 or 3 times more) or delivery times! Im so disgusted I could spit nails!! Now I have to file a official claim, I had to take inventory and pics of ALL the damages, find my receipts and cost to replace and pics of what everything looked like before all this happened..and I know I won't get full compensation which completely sucks and breaks my heart. Here's my experience with this company. Please learn from my mistake and use another company. 1. The three guys who showed up for my move arrived stinking of weed, like they just hotboxed the van. After about an hour, 2 of the guys went back out to the van and returned smelling heavily of weed again. I have an infant daughter, and my landlord was right there too. Very unprofessional. 2. The move cost ended up being more than double the estimate. We did have a larger move than expected, but nowhere near double. 3. The cost of their boxes are outrageous. The tape they use is even more ridiculous, a tiny roll which they charge 3 times more for than a normal roll. Do yourself a favor and keep some empty uhaul boxes around, because if you have to use their boxes, you will pay 3x what the boxes and packing material should cost. We had extra materials, but it wasn't enough for what they insisted on doing (see number 5). 4. When I saw how much their packing materials would cost, I told them I would go to uhaul and buy some boxes and tape and be right back. They told me they would give me a "break" on the cost of the materials. When it came time to review the bill at the end, no "break" was given. 5. We were told by the sales rep that we could pack the dressers and tv stand. This turned out to not be true, and the movers insisted on unpacking and re-packing those items in their expensive boxes. 6. The guy unloading did not speak a single word of English beyond the phrase, "It's okay". It wasn't "okay" at all. Boxes marked fragile were thrown down a small flight of 5 stairs right in front of me, when I tried to step in, he just kept saying "it's okay" and refusing to let me help. 7. Items were damaged during the move. My tv stand's legs were broken (the same TV stand they emptied "to protect it from breaking"), Amazon echo was cracked and broken, the banister in my new home was deeply scratched, and paint on the stairwell was scratched. My Kindle Paperwhite, which was packed by them in one of their overpriced boxes, never arrived. This is just the start, there is other damage which we are still accounting for. 8. A couple of weeks after the move fraudulent charges started appearing from Oakland, CA, on one of my credit cards, with the card presented in person at Walmart. This particular card ended up being taken out of the TV stand and packed by the movers when they insisted on unpacking my TV stand. I know I should not have left it there, but the three movers were the only ones who could have had access to this card. This seems very suspicious to me. This was by far the worst move we've had. The previous move, I used some Russian/Tatar guys in LA and they were so good. Professional, courteous, thorough, very quick, and nothing damaged. I was asked to write this review while the foreman was there picking up my load but after their was very rude and unprofessional. They held my things in storage in California saying that there was no truck or driver available. I did not receive my belongings in North Carolina until May 3rd...40 days after pickup and yes there were items damaged at delivery. I also ended up paying well over the original quote and was asked by the foreman to pay the full amount at pickup which I did...some in cash which he requested. They destroyed 2 55" TV's that I had packed myself with a lot of bubble wrap, blankets, and inside TV boxes, they lost parts of the bunk bed and tool shelves so I could not set these things up. HORRIBLE company! Don't believe everything they tell you. They provide you a quote over the phone, but when they come to pick up your stuff it triples in amount. I provided them the exact things over the phone but how can it go from $2200 to $6400?? Then they state 7-14 days of delivery, but we didn't receive our things until after 21 days. When our stuff was delivered our TV was smashed, boxes of plates were all broken and they lost our canopy. So when I originally spoke to them, I got into a screaming match with the "manager" who was so unprofessional and pretty much stating it was our fault for having so much stuff. FIRST of all if it wasn't for us customers that company wouldn't even get funded!!! He wouldn't even let me speak, he kept interrupting me. It got so bad that i started laughing at him because he would not allow me to speak. I eventually told him i will be writing a review about this company and will let everyone know how unprofessional he is. He then lowered his tone and offered me $120 credit. We were not getting anywhere so to end the call i just agreed. After i spoke to him 2 days later my stuff arrives. When i called them on Monday to informed them of the damages, mainly TV they emailed me a claim form to complete and then sent me an email stating they will credit me $500 plus $120 which was a total of $620. That was 9/7/18, today is 10/9/18 and i have not received the refund. Every time I speak to this company it's something different. First a live check takes longer to process. It takes 24 business days to process. Then your check was mailed out 2 weeks. and still no canopy!! WHAT IS IT REALLY???? Frustrated can not explain how I am feeling. Best? I sincerely hope not. ​I am so disappointed with Best West Express. Moving is stressful enough, but they caused even more issues. At first, I spoke with TRAVIS who promised a low rate - but remember if it seems too good to be true it probably is. After we discussed the payment and full coverage for insurance, TRAVIS hinted at giving them a five-star​ review, which should have been another clue, but I remained optimistic​...then moving day happened: 1. Even though we lessened the number​ of items to be moved, strangely we were charged an extra $1,000! That's not even close to a misquote. Either they can't honestly predict their own prices correctly or simply lied. 2. Originally, we were told delivery would be between Wednesday and Friday​ and provided proper notice; however, the driver rushed over LAST MINUTE on Sunday (only after my wife and I contacted them most of Saturday asking where our stuff was). 3. While the driver rushed stacking boxes marked fragile on others, my wife quickly inspected our items and found several to be DAMAGED - including a wedding gift. I literally had to run and get the driver (who rushed out) to show him the damage. He snapped a photo and simply informed us, that's a shame​ but we probably won't get much for it 4. Luckily, my wife had a checklist and realized that we were MISSING a box - an anniversary gift. We also informed the driver who said to contact the warehouse. He told us that if they still have it, they'll probably ship it to us, and if not, it probably won't be covered. 5. At this point, my wife is worried and upset - scanning the paperwork as we weren't there for the initial pick up and had a trusted family member act as power of attorney. We contacted them about details of​ the move and found out some very disturbing issues. Apparently, the head mover, CAESAR, was highly UNPROFESSIONAL and flat out lied. He LIED about why we were moving, speaking ill of our family, which is reason alone why we will never use them again. TRAVIS, CAESAR and the careless driver have not responded to fix these issues despite being contacted several times. I took the liberty of contacting Customer Care who was not even told about the missing item but reassured me that the company will reimburse us for the cost of that item if it is not located. I can't give a 0-star​ review, but it is because of the actual help from Max in Customer Care that I am currently giving Best West Express any stars. WORST MOVERS EVER! SERIOUSLY JUST DON'T DO IT! I move a LOT, I've moved 8 times in the last 6 years (to and from Europe, within state, out of state) I would say that I'm pretty much a pro at moving, and I've used a bunch of different companies. Best West Express is bar far the WORST MOVERS EVER. I booked my move over the phone and knowing how movers always underquote over the phone, I knew that the price would be a bit more when they come and collected the items in person. I even OVER STATED how much stuff I had. I have a 1 bedroom, and I told them I had a 2 bedroom amount of things so that they could maybe give me a more accurate quote. I booked my move for a Saturday, they said they would arrive by noon on Saturday. But guess what? THEY ARRIVED AT 9 PM (That's right, WHO STARTS A MOVE AT 9 PM WHEN IT'S PITCH DARK and the movers were DEAD tired from the "earlier move that took much longer than expected" It was so dark that they had to use their truck lights to illuminate a path, and I'm kind of surprised that they didn't just loose all my items walking from the door to the truck!) Of course, I knew that they would give me a final price that was higher than the original quote. but guess what, it was TWICE, DOUBLE than the phone quote (even though I'd already OVERSTATED how much things I had! I was expecting 20% more than the verbal quote, but not 100% more! But what could I do? They already had all my items held hostage! The truck they had was already filled to the brim from the previous household, so my stuff could barely fit in the back and they even had to strap the mattress to the OUTSIDE of the TRUCK! Furthermore, I've never had someone mark the paperwork in such a messy and inaccurate way. I had carefully marked all the boxes with items and contents. They didn't even bother to note it on the paperwork. (It was getting super late, like after midnight and I was so tired that I didn't want to argue with the person about the paperwork so I just let it go). They drove off. My stuff arrive 1 month later (SF to Portland), even though they kept saying that it would be delivered in a week. So there I am sitting on some Amazon boxes and sleeping bags for 1 whole month waiting for my things to arrive. Day of arrival, a truck pulls up, the movers didn't even know which "section" of the truck my stuff was in, they kept showing me other people's stuff. Finally we got to my stuff, they unload it, and 10 boxes and a piece of furniture is missing. (oh by the way, they make you pay the movers in cash BEFORE they will unload anything). so they get your money and there's nothing you can do about it. They said file an insurance claim for all my missing stuff. I file an insurance claim (they pay by the pound 60 cents per pound!) So basically I lost about $3000 worth of stuff they said they would pay me $150 for the claim. They even made me go to a notary and pay $15 for a notarized signature to mail me the check). BUT GUESS WHAT? THE CHECK NEVER CAME! I call them every week, and they said "the check is in the mail. 6 months later, still no check, I'm out $3500 for the move, they lost about $3000 worth of stuff, I had to pay $15 for a signature, fill out a ton of paperwork for the claim, and didn't even get a insurance check. I was planning a cross country move but it got delayed so I didn't end up using them. They did use very aggressive tactics such as "put a deposit now before our prices go up". They did not send an agent to access my move before giving me a quote, which is a huge red flag. Another red flag is their Yelp Reviews. Notice that reputable companies will respond to their reviews, especially if the reviews are critical. This company has said nothing in response to its many negative reviews. I do not think it is a good idea to use this company! I was quoted 5250 originally. I measured every item L.W.H. I even gave the cubic foot on many items estimated volume was 1500 cf. As i said i mesured every item and when i was over the limit i removed what ever was needed to keep it in the limits. I was assured i still had room left over and i was within my 1500 cf. I was told that the sizes a gave were input into a computer program so that means that the program should compensate for dead space if it is a reliable program. Well on pick up the driver did one quick look around and said its way more the your limit i am going to have to bump it up to 8470! WTF! Thats over 25 percent increase in volume. This is BS. After I called the company they said to wait till the truck is filled and we will see what we can do. When they were nearly finished loading the driver said l guess it was not as much as i thought so im going to give you a flat rate of 7600.00 like thats suposed to make me feel better. I said i need to confirm with Best west. He said he already called them but they never called me back to verify. So I still got bait and switched. Plus another 155 at drop off for second flight of stairs. I was told it would be only 75 but the driver said 75 minimum charge. CROOKS. Two months before my move, I contracted with them for a move at a price that beat all others. Today, 2 days before the pickup date, they called to say they noticed my zip code was one where they would have to charge me almost double the amount originally estimated. If there was even an apology I didn't hear it. Offer of a discount for their mistake? No offer of any kind. I said this seemed like bait and switch and they gave legal arguments. ("It's not bait and switch if we didn't show up.") I recommend avoiding these weasels any way possible. read more

You might think it is expensive, but its not and worth every penny! They brought 3 workers, packed all my stuff in blankets and cardboard safe for travels in less then an hour! They make sure you feel comfortable with them taking your stuff. I moved from Long Beach, CA to Midland, TX and everything went smooth. Would definitely recommend! read more

I would give this moving company MINUS 5 stars if I could! Best West grossly underestimated the moving cost, quoting us under $4,000 to move from Sacramento to Oregon. Our final bill was $13,000! And they would not deliver and held our furniture and house goods hostage until we paid the bill, so we could not do anything about the final cost. Many, many things were broken that Best West packed, any several large items did not show up at all (opps, sorry it's missing! Oh, too bad). We took pictures of the broken things, completed the proper Best West mover's so called insurance paperwork, and for the damaged items valued at over $10,000, they offered to reimburse us $200! In order to get anything, we had to sign and notarize the $200 offer. It has now been 14 months since the move and we haven't received a penny of what they agreed to pay for the damaged and missing items. Amazingly, before we moved, Best West assigned us a contact person who called us and was on top of everything. But after we moved and they got paid, and in spite of multiple email messages and phone calls and letters, no one at Best West even attempts to respond to us. Absolutely a horrifying experience. Before we moved we had told a Sacramento friend about this company, and he used their "service" for some local moving. Best West underquoted his move by $2,500 and our friends had the same outcome and problems we did. We think Best West are scam artists when it comes to giving potential customers their deceptive "estimates" for moving. I am a Registered Nurse and my husband is a retired engineer. We are ethical smart people, but this company took us for a ride. Don't be fooled by their sales pitch and "estimates" like we were. read more

We had a terrible experience! please STAY AWAY! I wish I could give them ZERO stars. Hands down the WORST moving experience I have ever had. I am in the process of filing a claim for the missing(30% missing) and damage items (30% damaged) The LOADING: The foreman pushed and pushed us. He made me promise to give 'good reviews' and 'take care of his guys'. They shoved our stuff in boxes with no regard for value The WAIT(source location) : Our stuff was supposed to be there the week after. It took TWO weeks, truck delays, and promise after promise that was never kept. THE MONEY: The foreman started estimate again started ,bargaining back and forth to his manager and left place and again calling aking prices to include every thing stated work ( leads to frustration to customer ) THE DELIVERING: I paid to them for damaged and missing boxes. The WORST experience of my life!!! ,No responsiablity delivered the all invoices mentioned in list. Do NOT use this company. I have never written a yelp review, never mind a negative one, but I feel so disrespected and scammed by this entire experience. This company quoted me $1400 to move my studio apartment. Upon arrival (the crew was early and the lead irritated) the lead crew member told me that it would be $2400. I told him I couldn't pay that amount- in fact I chose them because of the quote. He "made a call" and came back with $1800. The lead crew member spoke to me disrespectfully and I felt uncomfortable. He smoked around the property and my belongings. The team he brought- VERY young men (questionable working age)- were NOT the problem. I was told my belongings would be going into a pod. My things were put in a truck with another person's shipment. THEY DIDN'T TAKE ALL MY BELONGINGS. The lead crew member said I had "too much stuff". I could see there was room on the truck. I was criticized for paying with a credit card. He left almost empty rolls of tape and other packing supplies for me to clean up. Cut to the other side for delivery. I got a call saying the truck was on route but the road I live on couldn't accommodate the truck and I would need to pick up my things or pay an extra $350 dollars for them to transport it on a smaller truck. This is in addition to the amount owed upon delivery. My address has not changed. Do they not look on a map before they transport/ quote? Trucks go up and down this street all the time. Upon questioning this extra charge and explaining that the driveway can accommodate- I was mocked and belittled. I was told the driver could be at my home today between 1-4. I canceled my plans to be home. It is now 5:04. I do not appreciate being spoken to in a tone that is rude and condescending. I question if the fact that I am a woman alone came into play here. And I am LIVID that this move was so stressful. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. After my negative updated review, customer service immediately reached out. I contacted Best West and I must say, Nathaniel at Customer Care has been tirelessly trying to accommodate my loss from the move. Although some of the moving crew members may not have done the best job possible, customer care made amends for the losses. I have to add, I never spoke to a rude or hostile employee (perhaps because I was never rude), pick up and delivery was timely and efficient, but most of all, customer care service was excellent. read more

The crew arrived promptly and even a bit early, which was great. They got busy right away. Kelly, Juan, and Samuel were all pros. They packed and wrapped everything extremely well so as to prevent any damage in transit. Communication with HQ was superb. They were very friendly and all business. Yes it's true they quoted a way lower price over the phone, and yes it's true I paid probably at least three times more than what they quoted, BUT...I did a very haphazard job packing my stuff, including thousands of dollars or dishes and breakables, and GUESS WHAT?? Not one thing was broken when I unpacked half way across the country. Everything was in tact. So...once I got past the price tag, the guys on both ends were great. The only thing I didn't like was that on both ends they asked for a tip which I was going to give anyways but it sort of spoiled the pleasure of giving it. They were good about calling and letting me know when they would arrive, they explained things, they were nice and they worked their butts off. Moving is expensive but I think when you calculate the truck, the gas, the time, the labor (LOTS OF LABOR)...I suppose they earned it. read more

The might be the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They have literally brought me to tears on several occasions as I try to put my life back together post-"Best West Movers." I agree with other reviewers in terms of chaotic scheduling, never doing what they say, etc., and not finishing our move (to the point where we had to hire new movers to complete the job), but that isn't the worst of it. In addition to the dozens of items that were broken, the company never delivered our 70" TV. After weeks of "looking" they said it was lost and we should go buy a new one. Only after doing this - two months after our move - did they tell us they had found the TV. And they then refused to pay for the TV we had already purchased. It is clear that their way around their regular failures is the to put us off, change their story, and telling us they will call us back (and never do). The number of lies they have told us is too high to relate here. PLEASE save yourself from this horrible, HORRIBLE company. read more

I started out with Travis who was great! The moving team was Eddie, Emile, Julio and Alex. They actually called me to tell me they were going to be late....they came and immediately got to work. All of them were nice, friendly and hard workers. Yes it cost me a lot more than expected but I had a lot more stuff than I thought. They were very efficient and fast but with care. My stuff will be in storage until I have an address in Vermont but I feel confident that the delivery there will go smooth as well. I paid cash in full and of course got a receipt so I'll just wait for all my worldly possessions!! read more

WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - THEY ARE NOT A PROFESSIONAL COMPANY BY THE WAY THEY CONDUCT BUSINESS I am a professional in the Real Estate business and have had many experiences with moving companies. This company is by far the worst I have ever seen. I was very clear on what I was packing, sent them a list, the size of the bins, everything, and they still tried to charge me $1000 over the quote, I ended paying $1950 for a $1450 move. I had not choice, my items were already on the back of the truck, and I was moving out of state that day. They held my items for 29 days without my consent or any communication. I was told by their staff, that they don't communicate with you after they pick up your stuff, even if they hold it. My items arrived 29 days later, broken and items missing. The attitude of the staff is unbelievable, they really don't care. read more
