TLDR; Don't waste your time with Best Garage Door Company. If they are still even around. Stephen the "owner" and his girlfriend who actually holds the license skipped town. For the longer story, read on. Firstly, know that there are 5 pages of court cases against Stephen, mostly tax liens from the DOR and a few small claims for ripping people off on jobs. Dig around...he wasn't paying the guys working for him, burned pretty much all bridges in WA and fled to Arizona where his GF is from to start anew. He is still allegedly hiring contractors in the area to do jobs up here. I won't call out the felony charges too, but run a search and you'll see. Stay tf away. BGDC seemed like a decent operation over a year ago. The owner was timely and came through when we needed a door fixed fast, which included installing a new set of springs and re-winding the cables. Our most recent experience...not great. Stephen showed up 6 hours late to our appointment, only to say he had to reschedule because he didn't have what he needed to do an install. He knew what the job was (installing an opener, vinyl trim, a gasket, rollers). He promised to throw in a key pad too; cool. We rescheduled for 10a the next day. So the next day I got a text from the business line (his girlfriend's phone) 2.5 hours after the arrival time saying that we had to again reschedule because the work van was impounded. FFS. We rescheduled for 10am the next day. You'd never guess, but again Stephen didn't make it on time. I got a text from his girlfriend's phone that he was running behind. He did show up 5 hours late and started the install on an opener. His girlfriend hung out in the van the whole time. A little odd, but whatever. An hour or so later, he said he had to go to another job and would return in the morning to finish. 9am. After he left, I discovered that he broke one of my ladders. The next day, I reached out just before 9am only to be met with confusion from dispatch (the girlfriend) saying that the appointment was between 4 and 6p. I said that would not work and to have Stephen call me. I got a text from GF again a couple hours later saying that Stephen was now out on a medical emergency. I wanted to keep giving the benefit of the doubt here, but these are a lot of extreme, flakey excuses it seems. Anyway, she tried rescheduling for the next day again, 2-4p. That wasn't going to work here, so we pushed it another day. Stephen did show up, albeit 3 hours late and finished installing the opener and wheels. He was confused about how much vinyl we were replacing, and the gasket he brought was like 4 feet too short. He assured me that he'd have another contracted tech come through a few days later to finish the vinyl and gasket installs, but oddly enough, not the price was going to be over $200 more than what we agreed, so he could pay this guy. I called him out on the ladder and he's like "oh yeah, I forgot to tell you" and we took $50 off the invoice. I paid for the opener. The rest was to be paid after the job was done. 2 hours after a no show for the appointment time, I reached out for an ETA. No response. I reached out again twice during the next 4 hours. No response. They ghosted me. Didn't even open the messages and possibly blocked my number? Who knows. He has a new number now in AZ. A couple of days later, the opener started acting up. I noticed the track flexing and the sensors were just all out of whack. I called up another company (Ed's Garage Doors Services) and they were out the same day, on time. Prices were negotiable and much better than BGDC. The tech took a look at things and identified that the springs that Stephen installed a year prior were not even wound properly. That contributed to the track flexing on the opener, because tension was non-existent. He fixed the springs, completely moved the sensors and did the rubber seal on the door that Stephen didn't do. I did the vinyl myself for the $60 cost in supplies. No more issues and the garage is even warm now. Stay away. read more

Bothell Police Incident Number: (24-26835) SCAMMER....Don't fall for his trap and this is a new scam ongoing from this company and looks like lot of people are impacted in last few months, i paid him $1075 deposit for a door installation, and from 6 weeks he is just making new stories everyday and keeps making appointments and nobody shows up from 4 times now. He is such a liar and knows how to make good stories. I would suggest to start reporting this company to your local law enforcement to save new people from his scam. Best Garage Door Company is the BEST. I called in a repair on Sunday afternoon and got an immediate response that they would be out the next morning. Stephen was friendly, efficient and had it fixed within a 20 minutes. I will definitely call BGDC for my next fix! read more

Spoke with Stephan and scheduled a time window and date. Waited and waited. Never showed. No explanation. No call. Nothing. Sent a text message stating I guess my appointment is cancelled. Received a "Read" notification. No response whatsoever. Very poor business acumen. read more

Stephen came out and quoted me less than two other companies and diagnosed my problem and gave me a break down of what I needed and the process of the repair. He was able to get the job done quickly. He knows what he is doing and I've used his services in the past while he was working at a different company, so to continue to do quality consistent work even over a multiple year span shows that this guy is someone I can count on! Garage doors don't seem that complicated but once they break it's always 100000x more complicated and I've tried the YouTube do-it-yourself versions and even those were too complicated for me. Do yourself a favor and at least have Stephen and his company come out and give you a quote ! read more

My garage doors were installed just a few months ago. All three stopped working. I notified Stephen at the company and asked them to send a technician. Stephen said they wouldn't. He got very aggressive and used profanity. I asked if he would stand by his installation and he hung up on me. read more

Terrible company to work with!!!!! Totally unprofessional. Hung up on me multiple times and will not stand behind issue with work that is completely because of the company! They only installed one cable on our garage door and when I called because the door was not operating correctly, the owner swore at my husband and I (several times) and ridiculed me because in his "vast" experience" of working on garage doors, he has never done that before. Sure..... He essentially said it was my fault and would charge me again to fix it. Totally ridiculous!! I know a lot of people say this but I would give this kid negative stars if I could. This was the second time this company came out to fix our garage door. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. I called in the morning and he was able to come by later that afternoon which was such a relief. It was a quick fix so he didn't even charge us. They are quick, reliable, and affordable. If I can give this company a zero star I would. I paid Stephens company to put in a garage door and motor and requested 2 remote. I have gaps between my garage door and the frame, light is leaking in, he didn't put the rubber gasket or whatever you want to call it. I cannot recommend this company to anybody. I was looking through my valpak coupon book for the month and ran upon three different companies offering garage door tune-ups. Considering I haven't had one in a number of years I compared prices and Best Garage Door Company had the best price by at least half of what the others were charging. I called and they picked up within three rings, scheduled a same-day service and arrived within the scheduled window. The service was quickly explained to me and executed within a couple of minutes with an explanation of the findings. As my garage door seemed to be in good shape there was no upsell attempt. In other words this was an ideal appointment and the service level was what you would want but not expect to get very often these days. I'd recommend giving these guys a shot. read more
