I used Best Cleaners when I had to get my work pants hemmed. I have dwarfism, so my pants always need to be tailored super short, and I foolishly put off tailoring the pants until last minute! Luckily for me, Best Cleaners was delighted to help me out and much to my surprise they were able to get it done in less than 24 hours! The business is not concerned with the satisfaction of their customers -- only making a profit -- as they were not the least interested in resolving the issue. I started using Best Cleaners a couple of years ago, after another dry cleaner down the street had shrunk a favorite sweater by about two sizes. Given the price point and location of Best Cleaners, I thought I could trust them even with my more expensive items. I was sorely disappointed, when my $300 dress pants came back looking more like leggings than pants. When I reported this to the cleaner, they denied any responsibility (OK, they could argue that I gained weight, but I surely didn't grow another 3" in two weeks!). Unlike other cleaners in the past, they wouldn't even reimburse the cleaning fee. If you can't trust a drycleaner in a fancy neighborhood like Brooklyn Heights, where can you go?? read more

I have been taking my best work clothes to them for years, with good results, after really bad experiences elsewhere. I just took the plastic off my best dark purple silk blouse. They totally ruined the color and turned a dull pinkish purple. I am distraught as it is my best dress blouse and expensive. They ruined another blouse last summer, same thing. If I cannot trust them, who can I trust? What bothers me is the dishonesty of not telling a customer that the color was ruined. read more

Lived in Brooklyn for a bit and tried three other Dry Cleaners, returned to this one back again in a hurry. I think they may be a little bit on the expensive end, but the quality of the Dry Cleaning hasn't been anything that I would complain about. The quality of staff is also extremely high, felt very comfortable asking for alterations, change of pickup days, etc., definitely would recommend to come here and avoid some other dry cleaners near by that may be cheaper, but will leave you unsatisfied. read more

I finally switched cleaners after too many dissatisfying services. I appreciate things can go wrong (e.g., pleats not pressed, pant hems done poorly and falling the first time clothing was worn) and kept giving them another chance over 10 years, but the owner's attitude was what pushed me to find a different dry cleaner: he typically charged again to re-do something that was not satisfactory and didn't stand behind the quality of the work. It seemd that the customer was always wrong!! They are NOT the "best" in the neighborhood and have terrible customer service. read more

All three of the garments came back exactly how I needed them altered, and looking better than ever. Came in to have the pair of pants altered I am wearing for my wedding in a couple weeks - also my fiance had her wedding dress done here and they did a perfect job with fast turnaround. I do not impress easily when it comes to dry cleaners. I have had clothes lost, ruined, given to other customers, and in fact I've even once been told when a particular establishment was unable to find an embarrasingly expensive shirt that my "boyfriend" (I was single at the time) had picked it up already and was probably playing a trick on me. So you can imagine my delight at finding this place. They certainly aren't the cheapest, but they are definitely the best. I use them for all my cleaning and all my tailoring as well. They'll put original hems back on jeans without a second thought (I have to get everything hemmed, so this is a must!). I've brought them my most expensive clothing for cleaning or alterations and I've never once been anything but thrilled at the way it's come back. Needless to say, nothing has ever been lost or given away. Even better - I recently discovered that they'll deliver if you live close enough! You just have to call so they know you're home. Needless to say, finding a good cleaners can be difficult, and if you're willing to pay for quality you shouldn't think of going anywhere else. read more

I've only been here twice, so I don't feel that I can give a totally comprehensive review, but since I had spent the last year trying to find a decent natural cleaner in the area, I figured I should leave a review to help others that were in my shoes! I actually live in Carroll Gardens but come here for my cleaning because I haven't found another acceptable natural cleaner any closer! I've tried a few and have been disappointed with all others. Best has cleaned perfectly everything I have dropped off with them thus far (and I am a bit of a perfectionist and tend to notice even the teensiest of mistakes). I think they may be expensive - but dry cleaning chemicals are so terrible, that I think it is worth it to pay for at least a somewhat cleaner alternative. My recommendation is - if you live in the neighborhood (or even a couple of miles away!)- bring your dry cleaning here! There are a lot of mediocre cleaners in Brooklyn - avoid them! read more

Best Cleaners - they really are. I have been living in Brooklyn Heights for 17 years and been going to Best for most of that time. On the off chances I've gone somewhere else to try a new cleaner or because they might be a little closer I always run screaming back to Best. They are a wonderful family owned business. They take care and pride in their work. I've never had anything lost and in 17 years and I think I've only had an issue with something needing to be redone maybe 5 or 6 times. From Tom Ford to Valentino, take it from a family that has a fair amount of dry cleaning on a weekly basis, Best is the best. read more

I don't often write reviews but I had to write one for Best Cleaners and the fabulous job they did replacing the lining on my winter coat. I had the shell of a JCrew coat but the lining was in shambles. I searched and read a number of reviews looking for a place to trust my coat to and finally decided to try Best. They charged me $180, took 1 week and bought the fabric color I wanted. They did a great job and I'm thrilled to have essentially a new coat. I've been very pleased with their tailoring (had a skirt split up the back - fixed it for $6) and their dry cleaning in general. Can't recommend them enough. They charged $24 to dry clean a dress & I don't even know if they cleaned it or not. There are still wrinkle lines on it, and they ruined the ribbing..it's loose now, and has a giant dent in it. Don't know if they dropped the dress, stepped on it, and then forgot to clean it. read more

I've had a lot of designer jeans and dresses altered here, and they do a fantastic job every time, especially on jeans. I had a pair that had become almost two sizes too big over time, and they made them fit perfectly. I wore them until they were in tatters and unsalvageable. read more

This place lives up to its name...they are the Best Cleaners! They are an organic cleaners and don't use perc which doesn't damage clothes. Best is the only place I trust with my clothes. Whether its my favorite dress from Italy or my old, old jeans that I can't part with, I know they are in good hands at Best. They have removed stain after stain for me and that's important to me because I'm clumsy and a messy eater. I don't expect them to work miracles and remove heavy stains that I know are often hard to get rid of (sweat, blood, watered wine stains) but they always try and that's what counts! Just so you know, laundering shirts are cheap but they don't always get all your stains out mainly cause they send them out but dry cleaning (in-house) gets most of the stains out and it's only about $3 more. Kim is a whiz at alterations. It's one of the only places that do a great job so fast. I always get an original hem on my jeans so you can't even tell they were fixed. She has even created some custom pieces for me that I love! You know a tailor is good when you can't even tell you had something fixed. It's a very friendly place. The owner always greets you and thanks you when leaving always with a smile on her face. The manager, Steve remembers my name and asks how my dog is doing. It's like my Cheers! This is the only cleaners by Montague Street that is on the main floor. A big plus for me. I've even run into A list celebs there but I'll keep them anonymous. read more

Overall this is a good dry cleaner and I've recommended them to others. Once in a while I've been disappointed with the way they've ironed things, and they are notoriously bad at stain removal, so don't expect it. They are good at repairing and altering items. They also do a good job on men's shirts on the premises. It's much more expensive than when they send the shirts out, but the results are noticeably better. I think they might be on the pricey side overall, but I haven't paid attention to other cleaners' prices. read more

I went to them because they had a decent yelp rating. They also claimed to be organic, which made me feel much better. I brought a 2 piece suit and two shirts to be cleaned on a Saturday afternoon. They do everything on site (or so they say) so I figured the turn around would be decent. I was wrong. I had to heckle with the guy for a Tuesday morning pick up. I got my Tuesday morning pick up. I picked up my suit and shirts, paid my $24.50 and left. When I pulled my suit out of the bag a couple hours later, I nearly gagged. I have never smelt anything so terrible in my life. My clothes smelled like Chemical death. They claim they are eco-friendly and organic because they use hydrocarbons. Bull. Want to know some great hydrocarbons? 1,1,1, -trichloroethane. What's that? A noxious alcohol that when heated up releases deadly chlorine gas. Not so eco-friendly. I can tell from the 'aroma' of my clothing that he used an aromatic hydrocarbon. Let's think of other aromatic hydrocarbons. Oh! Benzene! Yeah you know, the stuff kids get high off of when Huffing glue, markers, and spray paint. Really organic. Organic Chemistry maybe. Benzene causes cancer, and is terrible for the environment. +4 stars for meeting my needs without too much of a fight, accepting credit cards, actually having my suit intact, and having decent hours. -1 star for the terrible lie of organic cleaning. -1 star for the terrible stench my clothing had. -1 star for deceitful advertising when making a buck. read more

Was this dishonesty or was it a language problem? My first experience with Best, and it'll be my last. Based on favorable reviews I brought in 3 items to be altered--two tops that needed the sleeves made shorter, and a pair of pants that needed to be shortened and hemmed. I was told the price would be $50--a bit high, but fair if the work is done well. When I got home, however, I noticed that the ticket listed only the 2 tops, at $50. I called immediately, and was assured that they had the pants, knew that I'd left 3 items to be shortened, and, when I asked specifically, I was told that all 3 items would be included in the price. I returned a week later and found the work done correctly, but I was presented with a charge of $63. They insisted that the pants to be hemmed were done at a price of $13 and the two tops that needed the sleeves shortened were $25 each. I disputed this, they insisted, and since I needed these items, I signed the charge slip, left, and will never return. I leave it to you to decide whether this was a failure of communication, or outright dishonesty. If you do decide to risk it, check your ticket carefully, and make sure each item is listed and the prices are itemized. Good luck. read more

I always thought that it's pretty bold to call yourself "Best" -- but, they earned it. I've been going here, mostly for shirt laundering and some dry cleaning, for years. And they do that well and at reasonable and competitive prices. But, add their expert tailoring and clothing repair (zippers on leather jackets, hems, etc.) and you have got a real find. read more

I am very disappointed with Best Cleaners. A friend recommended them to us when we moved to the neighborhood seven years and we have used them consistently throughout that time. The quality of their dry cleaning, especially as it relates to laundered shirts, is dismal. We have repeatedly received shirts with ripped sleeves, broken buttons and those brown streaks around the collar and cuffs. The final straw occurred when a shirt came back with a rip along the entire collar - ruining a fairly expensive shirt. When we discussed it with them, they claimed that they could not fix it and would not reimburse me for the cost. We spent a lot of money with them over the years but will never use them again. read more

They ruined my dress, denied it, did not apologize, wanted to charge me more money to fix their mistakes, and were very rude. All the seamstress had to do was shorten the hem of the dress, and since it was a delicate chiffon material, she must have pulled at the zipper, thus making the back stick out making it look like I have a tail. When I took it back to them to fix it, they denied even touching the zipper and refused to fix it in time for the event I needed it for (a few days later). They denied everything so much, I should've known they were guilty. They also insisted I pay another $25 (I already paid $45). After I told them I needed it fixed in a couple of days they laughed at me and said no. When I went to a new tailor the seamstress immediately looked at it and said the other tailor had ruined the zipper by using a "heaving hand" to stitch. Hopefully the new tailor can fix my dress in time for the event I have coming up shortly. I have to pay another $20 to fix Best Cleaner's mistake. I will never ever use Best Cleaner's again, and if you have delicate beautiful dresses you want to have tailored DO NOT go there, they will just ruin it and take your money. They have no customer service and do not care. read more
