I moved to Chinatown a couple weeks ago, and it was time to do laundry. There were too many options so I picked the closest one that I'd seen on my walks to the subway. You need to buy a card for $2 then add funds for washing and drying. When you return the card, the $2 is refunded. The attendant that was there doing the wash and fold service ($1.65/lb I think) for drop off customers was friendly and helpful. She showed me how to buy a card and the process to use the machines. A small load is $3.75, up to a large load for $5. I went on a Monday evening around 6pm and there were plenty of open machines. Drying in the large dryers in the back costs $.50 per 8 minutes. Oddly enough, it only took one 8 minute cycle for most things to dry. I combined the handful of still damp items from my darks and lights, and ran one extra drying cycle. Total for one load ended up being $4.50. Not bad. Laundry to Go is clean and bright, the machines worked fine, and was quick and efficient. I have a card now, easier than coins, so I'll be back. read more
