I bought a new computer in November, 2017, it was a higher end Lenovo. I got it home to find I needed a cable, went back to the store and before I could even show the clerk the picture I had take of the connection I needed, he handed me a cable. I purchased the cable, went home and it wasn't the right cable. I hurried back to the store, retold my story and was directed to another cable. This was repeated a total of three times. By the second day the computer suddenly shut down (losing all my work) I called and was told to take it in, since you couldn't see anything there was no way Geek Squad could help me over the phone. I was told that it needed an upgrade. An upgrade? The computer is 2 days old. I took it in, it took a couple of days, but I was so happy it would be up and running that I bought a new monitor. 2 Days later, it crashed. This time I returned it to the stored and asked for a full refund. I didn't have the receipt for the latest cord, so they wouldn't refund or give credit. I returned tonight thinking I had the receipt and also took in a memory reader that I had purchased the same time as the computer, but never had a chance to even open. As it turns out, I didn't have the correct receipt, so they wouldn't even give me store credit for the reader nor the cord. Yes, I get it, but not even store credit? Now I have a memory reader and a cord, I should never had to have purchased and no use for either. The clerks I first dealt with wouldn't even listen to what I needed, because they were so sure they knew everything and kept telling me it was the right cord. (3 times). You can sometimes get by when you don't know what you're doing by being friendly, but I found these people to be arrogant and rude.
Fast forward to this last Christmas, I wanted to buy a camcorder. I asked for help 4 times, and went to Customer Service, it wasn't until I stopped yet another person, that I got help.
Oh and while we were Christmas shopping at a later date, we were looking at an instant camera and noticed all the film, which is bought separately, was outdated. The clerk assured us he would remove it from the shelf. Tonight we noticed all the film still was dated with the same expired date as it was at Christmas. When we mentioned to the manage tonight, he said we were assuming it hadn't been removed. What?
As it turns out, while I was going through this ordeal with the manager, my daughter was purchasing a memory card for a camcorder I had given as a Christmas gift. She had showed them the exact model so she would be assured of buying the correct one. That's right it wasn't. She just had to make another trip.
I can't say enough about the Geek Squad, they go above and beyond, however the knowledge and customer service throughout the rest of the store stinks. I haven't lived in this location long, but having purchased a PC, 2 laptops and a camera at other locations, I can say I will never return to this location.
I am a consumer and by being a consumer I can shop anywhere I want, I don't HAVE to spend my money anywhere and it certainly won't be at this location again. read more
