Beautiful place and amazing hospitality!! The place is a huge Victorian house, which could be a mansion. It was built in the 19th century and has remained the original decor and structure. The yard is definitely beautiful. The staffs and owners are extremely friendly and accommodating. It comes with breakfast served by the owner. They ran a restaurant in New York before so the food was amazing!!! The fridge comes with a lot of water, free blueberry pie and ice cream offered to guests. Amazing place to stay! We will be back

My husband found this gorgeous inn while working in New Hampshire. We had been on the fence as to how we wanted to get married and seeing the options Berry Manor provided we knew we were making the right decision to elope. Berry Manor is beautifully kept, the staff was courteous, the homemade pie after hours in the kitchen was a treat, the breakfast was delicious, our room was comfortable and we could not have asked for more. As far as elopement, we chose the option that allowed us to use the grounds at Marshall Point Lighthouse, it was an extra fee and absolutely worth it. The coordinator took care of everything and we do not have any regrets. It was intimate, affordable and an experience we will never forget.

I cannot recommend highly enough. The bed, sheets and pillows are perfect. The breakfasts are wonderful. The coffee is fantastic. Every day we have had wonderful pies and ice cream. Every person that works here is so lovely and kind. The shower and hot tub we have are the things of dreams. A block or two from everything. Quiet seating under a beautiful old maple tree. Could not be better

Where to start? First off, the Inn is amazing on a history level. It was built back in 1899, and the original owner kept expanding. The innkeeper will give you a tour of the place and the whole history behind it's construction. While most of the house has been kept original, they continue to upgrade (as the original owner probably would if he were still alive) * Electronic fireplace * Mini split HVAC for every room * LCD TV with cable * wifi throughout No matter which room you stay in, there's a common kitchen with fresh coffee made every morning, homemade pies to snack on whenever you want, vanilla ice cream in the freezer, frosty mugs, selection of soda and water. Because of the 2 night minimum and rooms filling up, we had to split our stay between 2 rooms. They told us to pack our things, and they'd move our bags over to the next room while we were away. The larger room with the king bed felt great, the 2nd room with the queen wasn't quite as comfortable but decent. Here's what blew us away. The staff is trained to learn everyone's first name, and when you come back after being away for the day or breakfast the next morning, they will all address you by your name (not sir or madam). You really feel like they care about their guests, and they treat you like kings. My favorite staff member has to be the Innkeeper, he's goofy like a weird uncle. Sort of makes me think of the father from the Tv show in the 80's Silver spoons with all his toys strewn about the rooms, his fun tshirts and his goofy hats. He feels like an essential part of this team and feel it would be a very different place without him.

As much as I want to give Berry Manor Inn 5 stars I just can't. We've stayed there twice and, don't get me wrong, it's nice but definitely not a 5 star experience. Almost not a 4 star either but I did not have the heart to give it 3 because Cheryl & Mike are very nice and do a good job as hosts. The Inn needs some serious TLC, it's getting run down. We stay in the carriage house & the rooms are pretty small but the bathroom shower is amazing with 4 powerful shower heads & the whirlpool tub is also fabulous. This time we were in room 12 & it was uncomfortably warm. I had a hard time sleeping. But the king size bed was very comfortable & the sheets were lovely & soft. The breakfast the first day was fruit, muffin, pancakes & sausage. It was quite good. The second day was baked eggs w/ cheese & herbs. It was just bad. The herbs were excessive & the eggs had no taste. It was a very odd plate of food. It came with crispy bacon, which was good as were the home fries. On to the "famous" pies. Sorry, but my mom makes better pies. Every time we go, the pies have been sitting out for a few days and are not fresh & the crust is flavorless, not the usual flaky, buttery crusts that I'm used to in a home made pie. Needless to say, I did not go back for a second helping. My SO is a pie lover & not all that picky when it comes to his favorite sweet treat, said the pies are not good. I don't understand all the hype around the pies and quite frankly about the Inn itself. Again, Cheryl, Mike & the rest of the staff are amazing but the total Inn experience is lacking and we will probably not go back.

Local chocolates and bubbly to celebrate our Anniversary.

Found the respite we were looking for to celebrate our Anniversary before spending the holidays with family. The Inn and staff were extraordinary. Tastefully decorated and the Rockland area is a foodies dream...lots of quaint shops and delectable restaurants. Many great suggestions were shared by the staff for places to go and things to do. Make sure you get a slice of late-night pie from the kitchen! Can't wait to go back.

Eloping at the Inn

Berry Manor Inn is, by far, the most amazing and wonderful place I've ever stayed. I can't possibly say enough great things about the Inn itself, the awesome owners, and the friendly and helpful staff. We booked our stay not long after getting engaged this past winter. While stressing about the hassle and costs involved with planning a huge wedding, we kept going back to the idea of eloping at Berry Manor Inn, since their package looked so nice, simple and reasonable. Eventually we decided to elope there, and I'm so happy we did! Cheryl made everything so easy for us! All we had to do was pick a cake flavor, flowers, and show up. She took care of everything else! We stayed in Room 11 (in the carriage house) and the accommodations were wonderful and luxurious. I'm usually the type who wants to spend as little time possible in my room while on vacation, but I never wanted to leave the Inn! It was just so cozy and inviting. The bed was extremely comfortable, we had a sitting area, fireplace, and the bathroom.... WOW! The two-person body jet shower was awesome, and the tub was great for unwinding at night. No review of Berry Manor Inn can be complete without mentioning how delicious the breakfast and the pies were. I've seriously never eaten so much pie in my life - it was starting to get difficult by the end of our stay. But every bite was awesome. Staying here felt like we were staying with old friends, and it was honestly hard to leave. But I know we'll be back the next time we're in Maine!

My husband and I just got married here yesterday and we were blown away by the entire experience--from the inn itself, the staff, the accommodations, food and pies, the decor...we decided to elope at Berry Manor Inn because it sounded to right for us. They took care of very detail and it was such an delightful day--and stress free! The photographer, the officiant, the flowers, cake, dinner reservations and two nights stay were all included in our elopement package. We left this morning knowing that we'll return in the future. Mike and Cheryl have a great balance of sophistication and laid back, lighthearted and sincere. I hope to see Berry Manor to continue to thrive and be a retreat and a place of celebration for years to come.

Ed and Joan, the Innkeepers, made us feel very welcome and were very informative. The location is perfect for anyone taking a morning Ferry to Vinalhaven or North Haven. It is also convenient for a walk through Rockland's beautiful downtown shopping area. Most of the rooms have a view of the harbor. We chose a room without that view but found it perfect for our one night stay. The room was spotless, had a comfortable bed, plenty of drawer space and a private bathroom. There is 24 hour coffee and tea station and a welcoming front room full of reading materials, games, and other interesting items. The front porch is another perfect place to relax and view the harbor. Ed is also the chef and served a wonderful breakfast of tomato and broccoli frittata, mixed fruit, fresh baked muffins and scones. Breakfast also included Ed's very tasty cornmeal pancakes, which I topped off with genuine Maine Maple syrup! We will become regulars as we return to Vinalhaven Island each year to visit our family. And have already recommended it to other family members headed to the island!

The breakfast alone is worth the stay. Rooms are minimalist but functional, beds are comfortable and the place is clean. I can only imagine what it takes to upkeep a place like this so hats off to Ed and Joan. My only comment would be the tv's could use an upgrade (it was tiny) ... not that we even turned it on. A Black Friday run for some flat screens would be a major value upgrade. We also loved that they were open to a one night stay (weeknight) , which is exactly what we needed. The few other places we called all had 2 night minimums which was pretty frustrating for a last minute weeknight escape.

I highly recommend the rockers or the swinging chair on sunny wrap-around front porch. Compared to a hotel which confines you in specific places often this is a good option for a family or group of friends visiting Rockland. We watched some of the World Cup and used the mini fridge in the common room. Given the price and down home atmosphere, I don't think you'll find a ton of places like this so close to downtown. We strolled to a number of nice restaurants and cafes as well as the oceanfront boardwalk in just minutes. The house is older and has its issues - crickety floors, slanted bedroom, older windows, etc but this is not advertised as a five star place and you pay for what you get. Sandra has two older cute and friendly dogs and also allows guests to bring their dogs. She makes breakfast every morning and the two days we were there they were delicious. We also met a few of the other guests and ate family style. She also went out of her way to help secure a stroller for us and our baby. This was above and beyond what is expected of an inn keeper.

The room with the large bed is the only one with air conditioning. The large room doesn't have a TV but the room with day bed does have a very small TV. Each room has a sink as the private bathroom shared by a hallway has a tub and toilet only. The one thing I didn't expect was the mosquitoes in Maine during this time of the year. I got one of my first of many bites while using the bathroom at the Inn so just a warning to bring mosquito repellent or buy some at the Rite Aid close-by depending on the time of year you come visit. Sandi, the Innkeeper provided us with wipes from the common area since we didn't come prepared. The common area has a small TV and a computer for Internet use. I would recommend bringing a laptop for use in your room as the Wi-Fi worked great in my room. There is a microwave to warm up food and a small refrigerator to store leftover food and some drinks. We didn't really spend much time in the common area as we were either in our rooms or out and about exploring the area. The front door is kept open all day so make sure you lock your door to your room. This B&B is located within walking distance of some shops and restaurants in town including the Farnsworth Art Museum. One thing to also note is that you can get your car blocked here because of the limited amount of parking. You won't need a car to walk to the shops and museum, but in our case, we wanted to take the car out to buy some groceries and was blocked by someone else's car. We were still on West Coast time and woke up late but Sandi, our Innkeeper, kindly served us a late breakfast when we showed up in the dining room. We had a simple and satisfying breakfast of what was left for us on the table as we couldn't wake up early despite setting our alarm to wake up for breakfast. She brought coffee to us, made us fresh eggs, sausages, toasted English muffins, local berry jam, homemade Greek yogurt, granola, and fresh fruit. Sandi was a great host and definitely accommodated us at breakfast at a later time. I could tell by the people that said their goodbyes to here during our breakfast that they definitely would return on their next trip to Rockland. Sandi is a great host with her warm and friendly demeanor. She definitely made sure you felt comfortable at the B&B. If you needed her for anything, we could have reached her by her mobile phone. Sandi has some dogs and cats roaming around the B&B, so if you don't mind them, you'll enjoy your stay here in this charming B&B with a great host. We definitely felt like we were leaving the home of a friend or distant relative. Sandi is very gracious, kind, and accommodating and I would definitely return if I found myself back in Rockland.

The person at the front desk named Jeremy was extremely rude and we ended up leaving the hotel without staying. Daniel (the other person at the front desk) was nice and much more pleasant to deal with. We do not recommend this hotel as we find the attitude in general being too rude (it is not only the north east attitude, we lived in the northeast for decades. This was way worse). Again though, thanks Daniel for being nice and helping us with our refund. For Jeremy: learn a thing or two about customer relations.

It ended up being one where we had a pretty big storm, and that actually made this hotel an even better place to stay. Basics: great location right downtown (if you look at the map and it looks like it's a bit out of the downtown range, it's not; this is a small town and you can walk from 250 Main to the heart of it within 5 minutes). The hotel itself doesn't have parking, but there's street parking or you can park free in the harbor lot across the street (you may want to check this if you're coming during high season). The welcome vibe is immediately evident not only from the super nice and helpful staff, but because check-in time is also when 250 Main starts its happy hour wine social downstairs, which is perfect! And if you reserve directly with the hotel, you get a complimentary glass of vino. I literally met friendly people from the minute I checked in, and we hung out with a glass of wine for awhile before heading out. You can purchase from a small menu of wine and beer until around midnight, which turned out to be a great thing when the storm rolled in the next night of my stay. With the warm and relaxed vibe, hanging out in the lobby area is part of the experience. My room was a queen room with a small balcony overlooking the harbor--which on their website is described as "small," but it definitely is not! Fantastically comfortable bed (which honestly seemed larger than my own queen at home); big bathroom with an awesome rain shower, heated towel racks, and robes; plenty of space to move around in the room itself, which also had a desk and a little sitting area. Oh, and super high ceilings and HUGE windows. While I neglected to get a pic *inside* the actual room [insert facepalm here], check out the cool views of the snowstorm from the windows and balcony. If you don't want to venture out for breakfast in the morning, there are light options available (croissants, yogurt, fruit, etc.)--with delicious coffee from local Rock City Coffee. Huge points too for keeping a coffee and tea station open in the lobby all day and night. With the term "boutique" being tossed around these days willy-nilly, I'm always thrilled to find a place that lives up to it. 250 Main is definitely worth the splurge!

Stephanie and her family were SO welcoming -- it felt like we were staying with old friends as soon as we arrived. Plus there are some very sweet pets on the premises if you are looking for a friendly cat or dog! (Though Stephanie was also very good about keeping the animals corralled to help with my husband's allergies.) Also even two months later I can't stop thinking about the breakfasts that Stephanie made us each morning. That open-faced smoked salmon omelet? The STILL WARM baked goods with real Maine blueberries?? And how she made sure coffee was ready to go super early in the morning as soon as I told her I was an early riser. I stayed at the Rockland Talbot house in Rockland Maine for two nights in late July. I spent a fair amount of time studying available lodging on the web. R T House was a trivial amount more than one establishment right in downtown Rockland that looked a little tired. The Comfort Inn was more. The RT house was dog friendly, and at a reasonable fee, I added Danny my yellow lab to the guest list. For the price of my room, I expected that this was going to be a grand old house that had an addition on the back with rooms for guests. I had that happen once. I was very wrong and I couldn't have been more overjoyed. I've always been a fan of architecture and I restored period homes for a living. The house was grand and spectacular, and even when I entered a room, such as a parlor, it looked friendly and welcoming, with its books and antiques. I met one of the owners, Tammy Braymaier as she was bustling about in the room that offered coffee and breakfast treats. Her husband and her son are all fully involved in the operation and live on site so if there's any problem, you can be assured it will be taken care of. My room was excellent, and the bathroom was superb. I spent a fair amount of time, walking around the house and admiring the decorating and the accoutrements that gave it a feeling of home. But one thing in particular stood out. As a restoration specialist, I am always checking on workmanship. The painting was flawless. In my bathroom, as you might expect, one would be in a position at times that would leave you with naught else to do but contemplate. The flat surfaces of the walls didn't have the orange peel dimples finish one sees when a roller has supplied many coats of paint. Where the trim meets walls the paint was applied steadily by hand and didn't have "thin", no masking tape used. If someone is taking the time and expense and care to maintain and improve a property then I don't think it's a far stretch to say they probably are very concerned about the welfare of the building and their guests. My experience there was excellent and of course I sent photos to all my friends to show them my beautiful accommodations. What good luck I had to find this place and if I came back to Rockland and needed a place to stay this would be my only choice.
