    Course #2 of Breakfast

This place was absolutely stunning. It was a last minute booking for us and it exceeded our expectations. The host was so friendly and accommodating. They served a 3 course breakfast which was delicious. We stayed in the Petite room and it was beautifully designed and the perfect size for my fiancé and I. Highly recommend.

Absolutely beautiful! Wonderfully appointed. The hosts are terrific. The breakfasts were truly gourmet. They pay attention to even the tiniest detail. Don't be fooled by the rates. This is definitely a five star inn.

***EASY 5 STAR REVIEW** Our stay at LimeRock Inn was outstanding! Everything was well kept and the innkeepers were so delightful! For breakfast we had a delicious 3-course meal (not pictured because we were too busy enjoying it) We stayed in the Island Cottage room and we felt like royalty in there. Everything was picture perfect!

Ed and Joan, the Innkeepers, made us feel very welcome and were very informative. The location is perfect for anyone taking a morning Ferry to Vinalhaven or North Haven. It is also convenient for a walk through Rockland's beautiful downtown shopping area. Most of the rooms have a view of the harbor. We chose a room without that view but found it perfect for our one night stay. The room was spotless, had a comfortable bed, plenty of drawer space and a private bathroom. There is 24 hour coffee and tea station and a welcoming front room full of reading materials, games, and other interesting items. The front porch is another perfect place to relax and view the harbor. Ed is also the chef and served a wonderful breakfast of tomato and broccoli frittata, mixed fruit, fresh baked muffins and scones. Breakfast also included Ed's very tasty cornmeal pancakes, which I topped off with genuine Maine Maple syrup! We will become regulars as we return to Vinalhaven Island each year to visit our family. And have already recommended it to other family members headed to the island!

The breakfast alone is worth the stay. Rooms are minimalist but functional, beds are comfortable and the place is clean. I can only imagine what it takes to upkeep a place like this so hats off to Ed and Joan. My only comment would be the tv's could use an upgrade (it was tiny) ... not that we even turned it on. A Black Friday run for some flat screens would be a major value upgrade. We also loved that they were open to a one night stay (weeknight) , which is exactly what we needed. The few other places we called all had 2 night minimums which was pretty frustrating for a last minute weeknight escape.

I highly recommend the rockers or the swinging chair on sunny wrap-around front porch. Compared to a hotel which confines you in specific places often this is a good option for a family or group of friends visiting Rockland. We watched some of the World Cup and used the mini fridge in the common room. Given the price and down home atmosphere, I don't think you'll find a ton of places like this so close to downtown. We strolled to a number of nice restaurants and cafes as well as the oceanfront boardwalk in just minutes. The house is older and has its issues - crickety floors, slanted bedroom, older windows, etc but this is not advertised as a five star place and you pay for what you get. Sandra has two older cute and friendly dogs and also allows guests to bring their dogs. She makes breakfast every morning and the two days we were there they were delicious. We also met a few of the other guests and ate family style. She also went out of her way to help secure a stroller for us and our baby. This was above and beyond what is expected of an inn keeper.

The room with the large bed is the only one with air conditioning. The large room doesn't have a TV but the room with day bed does have a very small TV. Each room has a sink as the private bathroom shared by a hallway has a tub and toilet only. The one thing I didn't expect was the mosquitoes in Maine during this time of the year. I got one of my first of many bites while using the bathroom at the Inn so just a warning to bring mosquito repellent or buy some at the Rite Aid close-by depending on the time of year you come visit. Sandi, the Innkeeper provided us with wipes from the common area since we didn't come prepared. The common area has a small TV and a computer for Internet use. I would recommend bringing a laptop for use in your room as the Wi-Fi worked great in my room. There is a microwave to warm up food and a small refrigerator to store leftover food and some drinks. We didn't really spend much time in the common area as we were either in our rooms or out and about exploring the area. The front door is kept open all day so make sure you lock your door to your room. This B&B is located within walking distance of some shops and restaurants in town including the Farnsworth Art Museum. One thing to also note is that you can get your car blocked here because of the limited amount of parking. You won't need a car to walk to the shops and museum, but in our case, we wanted to take the car out to buy some groceries and was blocked by someone else's car. We were still on West Coast time and woke up late but Sandi, our Innkeeper, kindly served us a late breakfast when we showed up in the dining room. We had a simple and satisfying breakfast of what was left for us on the table as we couldn't wake up early despite setting our alarm to wake up for breakfast. She brought coffee to us, made us fresh eggs, sausages, toasted English muffins, local berry jam, homemade Greek yogurt, granola, and fresh fruit. Sandi was a great host and definitely accommodated us at breakfast at a later time. I could tell by the people that said their goodbyes to here during our breakfast that they definitely would return on their next trip to Rockland. Sandi is a great host with her warm and friendly demeanor. She definitely made sure you felt comfortable at the B&B. If you needed her for anything, we could have reached her by her mobile phone. Sandi has some dogs and cats roaming around the B&B, so if you don't mind them, you'll enjoy your stay here in this charming B&B with a great host. We definitely felt like we were leaving the home of a friend or distant relative. Sandi is very gracious, kind, and accommodating and I would definitely return if I found myself back in Rockland.

Daniel (the other person at the front desk) was nice and much more pleasant to deal with. It ended up being one where we had a pretty big storm, and that actually made this hotel an even better place to stay. Basics: great location right downtown (if you look at the map and it looks like it's a bit out of the downtown range, it's not; this is a small town and you can walk from 250 Main to the heart of it within 5 minutes). The hotel itself doesn't have parking, but there's street parking or you can park free in the harbor lot across the street (you may want to check this if you're coming during high season). The welcome vibe is immediately evident not only from the super nice and helpful staff, but because check-in time is also when 250 Main starts its happy hour wine social downstairs, which is perfect! And if you reserve directly with the hotel, you get a complimentary glass of vino. I literally met friendly people from the minute I checked in, and we hung out with a glass of wine for awhile before heading out. You can purchase from a small menu of wine and beer until around midnight, which turned out to be a great thing when the storm rolled in the next night of my stay. With the warm and relaxed vibe, hanging out in the lobby area is part of the experience. My room was a queen room with a small balcony overlooking the harbor--which on their website is described as "small," but it definitely is not! Fantastically comfortable bed (which honestly seemed larger than my own queen at home); big bathroom with an awesome rain shower, heated towel racks, and robes; plenty of space to move around in the room itself, which also had a desk and a little sitting area. Oh, and super high ceilings and HUGE windows. While I neglected to get a pic *inside* the actual room [insert facepalm here], check out the cool views of the snowstorm from the windows and balcony. If you don't want to venture out for breakfast in the morning, there are light options available (croissants, yogurt, fruit, etc.)--with delicious coffee from local Rock City Coffee. Huge points too for keeping a coffee and tea station open in the lobby all day and night. With the term "boutique" being tossed around these days willy-nilly, I'm always thrilled to find a place that lives up to it. 250 Main is definitely worth the splurge!

Stephanie and her family were SO welcoming -- it felt like we were staying with old friends as soon as we arrived. The house itself is cozy and clean and the rooms are comfortable, charming, and unique. I loved drinking coffee on the porch in the morning looking out over the property. Plus there are some very sweet pets on the premises if you are looking for a friendly cat or dog! (Though Stephanie was also very good about keeping the animals corralled to help with my husband's allergies.) Also even two months later I can't stop thinking about the breakfasts that Stephanie made us each morning. That open-faced smoked salmon omelet? The STILL WARM baked goods with real Maine blueberries?? And how she made sure coffee was ready to go super early in the morning as soon as I told her I was an early riser. My only complaint about our stay is that I wish we could have spent more time at the inn itself -- we were too busy out and about with wedding stuff!! I just wanted to hang out at The Tipsy Butler! I stayed at the Rockland Talbot house in Rockland Maine for two nights in late July. I spent a fair amount of time studying available lodging on the web. R T House was a trivial amount more than one establishment right in downtown Rockland that looked a little tired. The Comfort Inn was more. The RT house was dog friendly, and at a reasonable fee, I added Danny my yellow lab to the guest list. For the price of my room, I expected that this was going to be a grand old house that had an addition on the back with rooms for guests. I had that happen once. I was very wrong and I couldn't have been more overjoyed. I've always been a fan of architecture and I restored period homes for a living. The house was grand and spectacular, and even when I entered a room, such as a parlor, it looked friendly and welcoming, with its books and antiques. I met one of the owners, Tammy Braymaier as she was bustling about in the room that offered coffee and breakfast treats. Her husband and her son are all fully involved in the operation and live on site so if there's any problem, you can be assured it will be taken care of. My room was excellent, and the bathroom was superb. I spent a fair amount of time, walking around the house and admiring the decorating and the accoutrements that gave it a feeling of home. But one thing in particular stood out. As a restoration specialist, I am always checking on workmanship. The painting was flawless. In my bathroom, as you might expect, one would be in a position at times that would leave you with naught else to do but contemplate. The flat surfaces of the walls didn't have the orange peel dimples finish one sees when a roller has supplied many coats of paint. Where the trim meets walls the paint was applied steadily by hand and didn't have "thin", no masking tape used. If someone is taking the time and expense and care to maintain and improve a property then I don't think it's a far stretch to say they probably are very concerned about the welfare of the building and their guests. My experience there was excellent and of course I sent photos to all my friends to show them my beautiful accommodations. What good luck I had to find this place and if I came back to Rockland and needed a place to stay this would be my only choice.
