If you are looking for a boutique hotel with a very modern but warm vibe, friendly service, and well-appointed rooms in a great location, 250 Main is a nearly perfect choice. It satisfies all of the above, but didn't quite make it to five stars for our visit because their COVID precautions didn't live up to the claims in the website. That was the only letdown for an otherwise outstanding stay. We chose Rockland as our base for vacation specifically for this hotel, but lucked out with it being a good jumping off point for exploring the mid-coast. There are several good restaurants in town, such that we'd explore the coast and other small towns by day, then return to Rockland and get dinner by carry out in the evenings. As other Yelpers' pictures show, the rooms are modern and comfortable, with excellent, well-appointed bathrooms. Boxed breakfasts in the morning were supplied by the lovely local bakery Atlantic Baking Company, comprised of yogurt, fresh blueberries, and cheese with croissants on the side. Besides coffee and tea in the morning, they have an evening happy hour and water on tap in the lobby. Their website states "our team members will be wearing face coverings", so it was pretty shocking to arrive and see that this was not the case for everyone. Usually the staff in the lobby did not wear masks - except for those working later in the week - and we saw cleaning staff without masks either. My understanding is that Maine at that time was requiring masks indoors only for unvaccinated people, so hopefully they were in fact all vaccinated. But I felt misled based on the website. Setting that aside, we still had an excellent stay. Hopefully the hotel will make sure in the future that their website statements on health and safety align with their practices.

The 250 Main Hotel is the nicest hotel I've experienced in Maine. The level of customer service is incredible, Jill was super friendly, & helpful, Mackenzie and Wilson gave great recommendations on local places to grab food, & hooking up my tech to their Wi-Fi. The Hotel it's self is super fresh, with great decor, a comfortable bed, and pillows I'm thinking of buying when I get home. My hands down favorite part is the shower, a walk in with a rain shower head. We will be coming back

Probably my favorite hotel ever! The location is ideal for spending time on Main Street. You can walk to The Strand, Farnsworth, contemporary Art Museum, fine dining and boutique shops. The lobby is inviting and relaxing and with a complementary wine social from 4-6 and complimentary breakfast with coffee and juice before hitting the road for home. Looking forward to our next trip back!

I couldn't recommended 250 Main Hotel more. This boutique hotel is filled with local artists work, classic books, and incredible decor. The views from the hotel are outstanding -- I recommend getting a room with a patio, but if not, hang on the rooftop deck! The staff are friendly and welcoming, with plenty of information on what to do in the surrounding area. But what I love most, is the room. It's unbelievably comfortable, from the carpet that you walk on, to the mattress and pillows. Every detail is inviting and modern.

This was my first time in Rockland, ME. This hotel off of 250 Main St. was a great place to stay and I highly recommend it. It has a modern contemporary feel and the atmosphere is very cool. The staff are super friendly and great in giving recommendations. We arrived after 5 pm and was told the town was quiet for a Monday, but a great restaurant for seafood was across the street called Eclipse of the Pearl. The hotel had a great complimentary breakfast and I loved their roof top. Such a great place to watch the sunrise if you didn't get a room with a balcony.

We had the most amazing weekend at 250 main hotel! They were quite accommodating during Covid times, and even were able to arrange a second night for us at the same rate since we decided to stay another night once we arrived! The interior is beautiful as well as the rooms. Very comfortable and we had a view of the water which I thought was well worth the price! We really enjoyed the rooftop as well a must see ! If we had more time I would have loved to enjoy the rooftop longer with a cup of coffee and a good book. The light breakfast was refreshing and made to order coffee was great. Highly recommend and would love to come back maybe in the fall season!

The rooms were clean and updated and mine had plenty of chairs to sit. There was not much to breakfast (but it may have been due to the virus).

When I first arrived, my room smelled terrible, like rotting food. I went to the front desk to let them know, and the woman there couldn't have seemed less concerned. I was moved to another room, but it smelled just as bad. I tried to deal with it, but eventually had to ask to be switched again. The third room didn't have the same odor, but instead smelled like it had been doused in cheap air freshener to cover something up. Not exactly a great start. At that point I considered finding another hotel, but it was late and the room itself at least appeared clean. Unfortunately, the noise situation was just as bad. If you plan on sleeping past 6 am, don't count on it. Unless you're on the top floor, you can hear every footstep from the room above you. The floors seem to have virtually no soundproofing, and I heard the guests above me constantly throughout my stay. The location is great, I'll give it that. But honestly, that's the only positive thing I can say about this place. The customer service is awful, the staff is rude, the rooms smell bad, and the lack of soundproofing makes it nearly impossible to relax. Save yourself the headache and stay anywhere else.

Ed and Joan, the Innkeepers, made us feel very welcome and were very informative. The location is perfect for anyone taking a morning Ferry to Vinalhaven or North Haven. It is also convenient for a walk through Rockland's beautiful downtown shopping area. Most of the rooms have a view of the harbor. We chose a room without that view but found it perfect for our one night stay. The room was spotless, had a comfortable bed, plenty of drawer space and a private bathroom. There is 24 hour coffee and tea station and a welcoming front room full of reading materials, games, and other interesting items. The front porch is another perfect place to relax and view the harbor. Ed is also the chef and served a wonderful breakfast of tomato and broccoli frittata, mixed fruit, fresh baked muffins and scones. Breakfast also included Ed's very tasty cornmeal pancakes, which I topped off with genuine Maine Maple syrup! We will become regulars as we return to Vinalhaven Island each year to visit our family. And have already recommended it to other family members headed to the island!

I can only imagine what it takes to upkeep a place like this so hats off to Ed and Joan. My only comment would be the tv's could use an upgrade (it was tiny) ... not that we even turned it on. A Black Friday run for some flat screens would be a major value upgrade. We also loved that they were open to a one night stay (weeknight) , which is exactly what we needed. The few other places we called all had 2 night minimums which was pretty frustrating for a last minute weeknight escape.

I highly recommend the rockers or the swinging chair on sunny wrap-around front porch. Compared to a hotel which confines you in specific places often this is a good option for a family or group of friends visiting Rockland. We watched some of the World Cup and used the mini fridge in the common room. Given the price and down home atmosphere, I don't think you'll find a ton of places like this so close to downtown. We strolled to a number of nice restaurants and cafes as well as the oceanfront boardwalk in just minutes. The house is older and has its issues - crickety floors, slanted bedroom, older windows, etc but this is not advertised as a five star place and you pay for what you get. Sandra has two older cute and friendly dogs and also allows guests to bring their dogs. She makes breakfast every morning and the two days we were there they were delicious. We also met a few of the other guests and ate family style. She also went out of her way to help secure a stroller for us and our baby. This was above and beyond what is expected of an inn keeper.

The room with the large bed is the only one with air conditioning. The large room doesn't have a TV but the room with day bed does have a very small TV. Each room has a sink as the private bathroom shared by a hallway has a tub and toilet only. The one thing I didn't expect was the mosquitoes in Maine during this time of the year. I got one of my first of many bites while using the bathroom at the Inn so just a warning to bring mosquito repellent or buy some at the Rite Aid close-by depending on the time of year you come visit. Sandi, the Innkeeper provided us with wipes from the common area since we didn't come prepared. The common area has a small TV and a computer for Internet use. I would recommend bringing a laptop for use in your room as the Wi-Fi worked great in my room. There is a microwave to warm up food and a small refrigerator to store leftover food and some drinks. We didn't really spend much time in the common area as we were either in our rooms or out and about exploring the area. The front door is kept open all day so make sure you lock your door to your room. This B&B is located within walking distance of some shops and restaurants in town including the Farnsworth Art Museum. One thing to also note is that you can get your car blocked here because of the limited amount of parking. You won't need a car to walk to the shops and museum, but in our case, we wanted to take the car out to buy some groceries and was blocked by someone else's car. We were still on West Coast time and woke up late but Sandi, our Innkeeper, kindly served us a late breakfast when we showed up in the dining room. We had a simple and satisfying breakfast of what was left for us on the table as we couldn't wake up early despite setting our alarm to wake up for breakfast. She brought coffee to us, made us fresh eggs, sausages, toasted English muffins, local berry jam, homemade Greek yogurt, granola, and fresh fruit. Sandi was a great host and definitely accommodated us at breakfast at a later time. I could tell by the people that said their goodbyes to here during our breakfast that they definitely would return on their next trip to Rockland. Sandi is a great host with her warm and friendly demeanor. She definitely made sure you felt comfortable at the B&B. If you needed her for anything, we could have reached her by her mobile phone. Sandi has some dogs and cats roaming around the B&B, so if you don't mind them, you'll enjoy your stay here in this charming B&B with a great host. We definitely felt like we were leaving the home of a friend or distant relative. Sandi is very gracious, kind, and accommodating and I would definitely return if I found myself back in Rockland.
