We went a bit off the freeway to this tasty cafe. There were six of us, aged from seven to 77. Everyone was happy with their meal. Food: 4 Stars Service: 5 Stars Atmosphere: 4 Stars We had meatloaf, chicken-fried steak, chili, and cheeseburgers. Everything tasted very good and the portions were large. My parents split the chicken-fried steak and finished up one of the kid's meals, which was just the right amount of food. My chili hit the spot - it is not quite a thick as some chili, but it was flavorful. We also ordered a rhubarb and strawberry pie that everyone enjoyed - everyone that likes rhubarb, anyway. Kicking myself for not taking a photo of the food, but this place definitely deserves a 5 star review! I've eaten at Berry Fields on multiple occasions while in the area, and this last weekend did not disappoint! I arrived in town on Saturday and headed straight to Berry Fields for lunch. Ordered the Cranberry Bog sandwich and a side of vegetable soup. The sandwich was fresh and great, but the real star was that vegetable soup!! It was so delicious and so hearty and it tasted like the vegetables were picked from a garden that morning! It's obvious they put great care into the food they serve, and I will most definitely be back next time I'm in the area. read more

So...its been a while since I have been here--I was looking forward to it because I remember my last visit being good. This time, welllll...not so much. I opted for the spinach salad and a cup of chowder. They were out of chowder at 1pm. Opted for the chicken noodle instead. The poppyseed dressing was recommended for the Spinach salad--was like honey with poppyseeds in it. I didn't care for it and asked to try the honey mustard dressing which was bland and not much better. The soup--was not soup. It was thick and unappealing, I really should have sent it back. Everyone else seemed like they enjoyed their food, but half of our party was hungry kids. The fish seemed to be over-fried--or fried in old grease. I don't know that I would be willing to come here again in my future trips to Centralia, there are places with better food than what we received here today. read more

Excellent! Came from out of town and stopped here for lunch. The chicken salad sandwich and pea soup was very good. My husband had the cod and coleslaw. Wide open and spacious in an historic downtown setting. Berry Fields Cafe was busy at lunch time. It seems this place is a local favorite due to good quality food, large portions and tasty pies. I opted for half a turkey sandwich with sweet tomatoes on fresh rye bread and a cup of yummy homestyle chicken noodle soup with egg noodles. A perfect portion as the sandwiches here are huge! Table service was friendly and attentive as my tea glass was never empty. It is a terrible thing to do to customers as you have to look at that beautiful pie case as you pay your bill and it is hard to look and walk away without a takeout desert. It was seat yourself which was nice but the seating arrangement is terrible. All of the tables are way too close together, so uncomfortably close you have your table neighbors back 2 inches from you maybe even closer. You can hear peoples conversations on both sides of you zero respect for personal space there literally seated back to back. Definitely not 6 feet. The food was gross. My boyfriend got the BLT with the soup of the day, broccoli cheddar. Bacon and cheese on the BLT were both cold, cheese was solid and bacon had zero warmth. The soup was inedible. It had no flavor and was very watery, had no thickness at all, no cheese flavor. I ordered a prime rib dip sandwich with their potato salad side. The sandwich buns were soggy, the meat itself had zero seasoning on it, no flavor just some cooked onions and green peppers which also weren't seasoned. At least the cheese on this sandwich was melty... You can tell the potato salad wasn't homemade there was no potato chunks all pureed mush, just a plain mustard tasting potato salad with no added vegetables. They added some dill pickles on the side which would have been nice if they weren't mushy with absolutely no snap to them. I enjoy my pickles crunchy. read more

Ambiance: 7/10 Cozy and Feels at home, little outdated but comfort level is up there. Food: 8/10 Food is always good My husband and I have dined here two times and never fails Service: 3/10 Both time we ate here, same waitress. Im not sure if it's a racial thing as I've always noticed my husband and I being the only Asians there when we go there. But the same lady always serves us the exact same way. She is thin, long pony tail and usually serves the far right side of the restaurant-- I keep forgetting to get her name. However, both times we ate here it's as if she just wants to get rid of us already. She took our order before 3 other tables were seated and yet those 3 other tables would get their food before us. Our food both times came out 45 mins to 1 hr later from being sat down. Not only that-- as we eat the server always puts down the bill within 5 mins of getting the food and just walks away there were no "I'm just going to leave this here, as it's getting busier but please take your time" nothing-- she puts it down and walks away. It's disappointing that a top rated restaurant in a small town would get bashed over a server-- however, I based my overall experience on service as that is what drives us back to restaurant (Service then food then ambiance). Regardless, due to pandemic my husband and I are generous with our gratuity, as we know it's tough times. Remind you, gratuity is based on service and even with poor service we still always give 18%-20%. read more

The short: Food was good. The waitress was lovely. It is clearly a popular place with the locals, but being lowkey accused of theft has left us not wanting to return. The long: My friend and I went to Berryfields as my friend is new to the area and has never been. They have been asking to go, so we finally went today. We got there around 10AM and ordered two of the veggie skillets. They were very busy. Neither of us were bothered by the long wait as we both have worked restaurants and knew it would be a bit with the number of occupied tables. Our waitress was so lovely and kept us updated; our cups were never empty. When she brought us our food she also brought a cookie for us for the wait, which we thought was very nice. Neither of us wanted the cookie due to dietary restrictions, but we figured someone at home would like the little surprise. When it was time to check out, my friend went up to the counter to pay. I followed as the portions were quite large and I needed to get moving, too, which meant walking up to the counter with the cookie. The lady behind the counter entered our ticket and then added the cookie to the bill. I cut in before my friend paid to point out that the server told us the cookie was free. The lady behind the counter was confused, and then asked another woman to come over, who then asked for someone else (I am assuming a manager?) to come over when they were free. I don't like confrontation, but I managed to say that if it's not for free, we don't want it. No one moved or said anything, so we just stood there looking at our feet. It was very embarrassing. Our waitress came over an explained that the cookie was a gift for waiting over half an hour for our food. Just then a man (I assumed manager?) walked over and they whispered to him that they got it. The lady then gave us our total again, not even a "whoops, sorry, your total is...". The tone of it all was very awkward and accusatory. Over a three-dollar cookie (our bill was over forty dollars). I wish I had just left the cookie on the counter. We rode in silence for a bit on the way home before my friend said, "I have no need to go back there". I agreed. Even if either of us could eat the cookie, neither of us would have wanted to. We ended up just giving the guilt cookie to the next person we saw. read more

Driving back from Mt. St. Helens with my folks and decided to stop here for lunch and the place was really good! I got BBQ turkey melt and subbed ham in for the bacon and then a side of cole slaw. Mom got their special of the day which was a pork loin panini sandwich. Sandwiches are huge and I loved how much meat they put on them! Although after eating about half my sandwich I did start to regret getting a grilled one as it was super greasy. The cole slaw was also very bland. It tasted fresh but had no hint of seasoning or spice whatsoever so that was a little disappointing. To finish off our meal we split a marionberry cobbler which was fantastic!! I would definitely come back here because I'd love to try their breakfast menu as well as a cold sandwich that isn't grilled. I can't fault them for a greasy grilled sandwich because I know you have to lather the bread with butter to grill it up but I felt it was a little excessive. That coupled with the bland coleslaw is why they fell short. But I'm confident if I went again and tried something else, and maybe a slice of pie, I'd have a better experience and lift my review to a 5. Definitely worth stopping at though! read more

What a find! Did a yelp search for lunch in Centralia, and this gem popped up. I read the entire sandwich and burger menu to my friend as they drove, and we were both drooling by the end of it. The place is spacious and very country home in decor. You seat yourself, and on a Sunday afternoon the place is packed. It's a lively yet wholesome vibe. Obviously a town favorite. Friend got the club, and we were laughing so hard when it came out. It is huge! Watching my 6'3 man try to get this sandwich into his mouth was hilarious. He said it was delicious and brought half of it home. The chips he got were obviously homemade, but mediocre at best. I'd vote going with one of their many other sides. I got the Reuben (no cheese, no thousand island) on a gluten free bun, and it was amazing. I'm not much of a sandwich person, but yes please! Instead of having the thousand island, I used the cranberry mustard at the table, and it was delicious. The fries are much like those you'd get at Shari's and just as unsalted. I still really really enjoyed them though. They're soft and creamy. This was an absolute gem of a find. 10/10 would recommend. read more
