My fiancé and two friends came here for dinner one night! I got the chicken broccoli Alfredo and my friends got nachos! The chicken broccoli Alfredo was amazing I ate every bite and it reminded me of the way my mom used to make it. I was thinking about it the next two days cause of how good it was! The nachos were good, and my fiancé got the captains platter which was also delicious. The food was served in a timely manner and the atmosphere was nice for dinner. Stars are mainly for the view... waitress clearly didn't want to be there so service was subpar. Calamari was good. Everything was reasonably priced considering the view/area. The bees divebombing the bar area definitely detracted from the experience... they were clearly attracted to something at the bar which they made no effort to cover or remove. Great location right on the strip and across the street from the beach. In a group of 6 we were seated quickly, the waiter greeted us but took long to grab our drink orders. The establishment was not very busy for a late lunch but the waiter was running the bar and tables took long to return to take our order. After finally taking out order, 3 items were brought out for our party, the remaining 5 items took approximately 30+ mins to come out. I was very disappointed in the length of time it took. The missing items consisted of salads, a burger, a wrap, fish n chips, and clam chowder. After everyone got their food, it took an additional 10 minutes for the clam chowder to come out, an item that one would think would be the first out. With regards to taste the food was very good, our party was pleased. I had the clam chowder and it was one of the best I've ever had, it had a great kick to it and had a piece of bacon in it which really added tons of flavor. read more

To say we've had a bad experience in this town is an understatement... Tonight was one of our last nights and our 4th in a row experiencing racism to the core. We came out as a family of 12.. they got us a table together quickly and were very attentive. We were having a blast with the entertainment with Evan.. the 4 young kids (aged 1-8) in our family decided to go up and dance to his music. . We had a great time until a despicable racist drunken man decided to come at my entire family, claiming we were horrible parents allowing the kids to be at the bar. Ironically the staff said it was no problem as we had just finished eating and spending well over a few hundred dollars. Funny thing is all the other patrons were dancing along as well as the singer loving the interaction with the kids. Thankfully the staff handled the drunken 'man' very well and escorted him out, then waited until they saw him leave to help us outside to safety. read more

I will start off by saying I do not recommend this place. Pros: The view from the roof top. Overall atmosphere makes the place appear to be awesome, Dont let it fool you.... Cons: The food was mediocre at best. We had calamari as an app, - which we order quite often when we go out - it was not delicious. My bf had a burger with onion rings - he was not fond of the burger, but ate it anyway, and only had one onion ring. I had the BBQ chicken sandwich which was okay. I added avocado (for $3 extra). I've never seen a restaurant use a huge chunk of iceberg lettuce as sandwich/burger lettuce. Both of us ended up not eating the lettuce. My margarita was awful. Our waitress asked how it was and I told her it wasn't good, tasted like straight up drink mix. Her response was, "well we Dont use mix" - I again stated it was not good at all. She grabbed the drink and walked away without saying anything. Not an apology, not an okay I'll have them remake it, nothing. Rude! The service just was not good at all. It took forever to get our drinks in the first place. The waitress was rude but then it seemed like she was trying too hard to be nice once it was time to pay the bill. The girls who dropped off our food didn't speak one word when they came to our table. It was just weird. Overall we were extremely disappointed, and wished we had read the reviews first. The food was bad. The service was worse. The hostess was rude and could've cared less about getting us a table. The prices of the food and the drinks are really high considering how low quality it was and how small the portions were. I understand that they have a captive audience with the vacation crowd at Hampton beach, but it's tough to have an enjoyable meal in the middle of a bumping night club atmosphere. Maybe just offer food service on the bar side of the building and don't have the music as loud on that side. My last complaint is what kind of an establishment doesn't serve honey mustard, or any sauce for that matter, with their chicken tenders. On a positive note, if you were going out for a night or a Sunday Funday you could probably have a good time at Bernie's. There's plenty of room to dance, a good view of the Hampton strip, and there's Cornhole boards set up. read more

My girlfriend and I were in the mood for a beer last night after spending some time on the beach and walking the strip. Bernie's had caught our eye- newer place, the decor and theme were very attractive to us as passers-by, plus I wanted to sit on the deck and enjoy the view. We walked upstairs to the deck and were seated quickly. A server eventually came over and took our drink order. A few minutes later our drinks came (we both ordered drafts so no problems here) and the server asked if we needed a couple minutes to decide on food, which we did. Ten minutes go by- no server. 15 minutes go by- no server. 20 minutes go by- no server. By this time, I told my girlfriend the hell with the food and to walk up to the bar to see if someone else could cash us out because we had finished our drinks and weren't even able to order anything else because our server had disappeared. The table next to us seemed to also be experiencing service issues and they had a different server helping them. It had been nearly a half-hour before we saw our server again, she finally appeared behind the bar as my girlfriend was walking up to try and pay. She decides to visit two other tables I'm sure she also abandoned before coming to ours to ask if we wanted "another round of drinks." Quite clear she forgot all about us wanting to order dinner. Keep in mind, I have done my stint in food service and have a lot of patience, but this was unacceptable. It was a Monday night around 8:30-9:00 and the place was dead, so there's no excuse for such neglectful service. I will most likely not be back to Bernie's, which is a shame because we had high hopes and it is a really nice looking place. read more

Had Conch fritters (which are hard to find in the New England area) and lobster bisque- Both were delicious and highly recommended. Rita and Dan delivered us nothing but great service at the bar. Overall great food, staff, atmosphere and amazing view of the ocean! Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. read more

This place is great! awesome beach atmosphere and the food was amazing! we went on a perfect day with a little too much wind to be sitting on the roof deck. i had my drink on top of the menu so it wouldnt fly away and it ended up blowing anyway and my drink spilled everywhere. the server was nice enough to grab me a new drink (even though it was half drank) free of charge!! we got the lobster roll sliders for an appetizer, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! this place is bumping at night too, they play reggae music all day and have live music every night. go on a tuesday and catch the fireworks after dinner! read more

I was a bit hesitant to go here for lunch with the family because of reviews, BUT it was delicious! The service was great, food was delicious and huge! The jalapeño poppers wrapped with bacon was yummy! The lobster sandwich was HUGE and split between two people, they have a great gluten free menu along with a good selection for kids. There was a total of four adults and one child, one alcoholic drink an app and all got a lunch meal came to about 120. I am extremely disappointed!!! The umbrella flew away and ripped my shoulder and spilled my 7 year old nieces drink all over her dress. Then we were told "we should hold it". So we held the umbrella in place for a long time. Before we knew it the umbrella flew again and hit my 7 year old niece in the fore head. She has a HUGE bump on her face!! The manager came and said "I'm so sorry, hold on I'll be right back". We waited and waited, when I looked for the manager he was just standing by the entrance letting more people in. Awesome location. Bernie's overlooks the beach. Cool tropical vibe. Food was amazing. We started with the nachos and buffalo tenders. Then mahi-mahi tacos, a teriyaki steak and cheese, and a burger. Upon our final night on vacation, my wife and I decided to head back towards the same place we originally started over in Hampton Beach. So we decided to just kind of casually stroll down the board walk area and look at the different little shops and restaurants they had in the area since when we first arrived, we didn't have much time to do so (we had to head over to our whale watching excursion). So as we strolled down the lane and popped in and out of shops we both happened to see this place in the distance with its bright neon sign and billboard lighting up the area, and we figured we would give it a try (since we had a long drive back home and we haven't had any dinner yet for the evening). Upon first walking up to the restaurant we were stopped by the bouncer for the downstairs bar and asked for our IDs (mind you that this was probably around 8pm, so it was understandable); once we explained we were just there for food and no drinks, he said okay and directed us to the upstairs dining area. Once reaching the top of the stairs, we found ourselves wondering about how the whole seating area worked out. Until we noticed the hostess "hut" tucked away in the corner of the entry way to the dinning area/bar. So than we walked over to let them know we just wanted a table for 2, they took down our information and let us know it would be about a 20-25 minute wait. Which wasn't bad considering they were pretty full up in the bar area and from what we could see the dining area as well. One plus to ease the hassle of waiting amongst the crowds of people was they send you automated texts messages letting you know that your table would be ready soon. I think the only drawback we encountered would have to be that when we received our notification that our table would be ready in a couple minutes, I walked over to the hostess hut and let them know that we got a notification, and than they were almost unable to find our name in the system. I was kind of annoyed at first and explained that we had been waiting for almost 20 plus minutes and than the finally found it. Feeling relieved from that they showed us to our table, which was great! We had an excellent view right on the outside of the dinning area along the edge of the boardwalk overlooking the ocean and beach. All the tables and chairs for the dinning area were typical beach style picnic seating. The décor was very beach themed with the string lighting and grass hut style awnings. One thing my wife and I did notice as well was that they did have "cornhole" available for people to play while either having a drink from the bar, or while waiting for your table to be arranged for seating. Which I thought that was a great thing to have, keeps your mind at ease and forgetting that you've been waiting for a table. They do have a larger area, from which they had the cornhole games set up for people to play, also doubles as an area in which people can stand in and listen to live music performances that they have there. The region has a full stage set up complete with lights and monitors for people who are sitting in the dinning area to watch on, or just enjoy the sounds of the music from. We both sat down and checked over the menu, which was pretty well balanced between small meals (salads and sandwiches) all the way to full entrees (surf and turf options). They also have a pretty decent listing of drink choices too, and yes they do have a drink called "weekend at Bernie's" which my wife and I thought about the movie title when we sat down at the table. As for our meals, my wife and I decided to keep it simple on the drinks (we just had water) and meal choices. One great plus that they do offer is that with the meals you do get to choose a side of your choice (unlike most that just give fries, or if you wanted a replacement they have an up-charge fee). My wife decided to have the chicken ceasar wrap with mixed veggies (my first thought was that it would have been the typical corn, peas and carrots from a can or something like childhood...ick), but they were fresh carrots, green and yellow squash! I opted for the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw (its just a classic pairing). We didn't have to wait very long for the food to arrive, which was nice. Everything came our fresh and hot. Tasted delicious as well. The portion sizes were absolutely justified by the price point for each item. The wrap was very large and filled with strips of freshly grilled chicken and romaine lettuce, while my pulled pork was piled high on the freshly toasted and lightly grilled bun. For a first time visit to the establishment, I must say that for a slightly rocky start to our visit with the disarray of the hostess table, and the slightly packed crowd in the bar area. I would certainly return for another visit the next time I happen to be traveling through the region. read more

I seriously did not want to like this Hampton Beach locale. I avoid Hampton like the plague being a local lifetime resident nearby. But this along with Lupes Tacos nearby may...just MAY make me come down more often. My friends chose it as a place to get dinner before seeing a show at the Casino. We got there at 5 and the show started at 7:30..plenty of time for dinner right?? Nope not here. Slow AF! Didn't even place our food order until 6 and had to inhale it when it was served at 6:40. Expect to wait a long long time here for everything! And my friends said their mixed drinks sucked. Stick to beer here. On a positive note...the view is impeccable. They have glass railings so you can see everything along the seacoast. And they have a newly built stage for live bands to play. Very nice!! I loved this place! The location was super cool, on the second floor so you can see the ocean and if you sit around the bar they can close these garage doors around you if it's too cold and windy. The staff is super friendly like everyone in New Hampshire seems to be. The drink menu is pretty extensive, I tried Bomb Pop and Cherry Limeade which were both yummy. I had lobster Rangoon's as a snack which were super yummy and came with an awesome sauce :) Another day I went back and tried their lobster roll (Also yummy) with a pasta salad side... You don't normally see pasta salad on the menu where I'm from so of course I was excited about that! All in all this was a great place, I'm happy we discovered it :) read more

Awful awful experience. I should have known just to go to Browns down the street. But I figured they had some live music at 3pm and we were really hungry. From the hostess, server, to the food it was very disappointing. I've worked in the hospitality for over 16 years. I never once saw a manager just kids thinking they can run a business. The server only had three tables and half the time he stood off to the side on his phone. The lobster roll was a great portion but did not taste fresh at all. And no flavor. Looks like the lobster meat was shipped in a bag or bucket. No tail meat. I returned it. Oyster were good but didn't have much of a selection bc of covid. Oh and i have a service dog that was in a stroller that was not allowed on the roof deck but was allowed on the first floor. You cannot deny someone with a service dog. Period. That's when i should have requested tl speak to a manager bc the hostess acted as if she was. If i wanted to waste more time i could have gone after this company. I wish i knew the hostess name bc she was super rude. We were about yo leave and she is like you can't take your drinks with you. IT WAS WATER!!!! ALSO THE CUP DID NOT EVEN HAVE THERE NAME ON IT. We came here for take out. It seems to be a forbidden word at this place. the host made a face and told us to proceed to the bar area to make a take out order. The bar tender (some Asian guy) didn't even introduce himself but rather waited for us to ask him if we could order food. Then we asked for some napkins and with a grim on his face he did it. Every year my family and I vacation to Hampton beach, and stay on L Street. We were SO excited when Bernies opened up just a few houses down from ours!!! The food is AMAZING ( try the hummus plate and lobster rangoons) the services is VERY speedy. The drinks are always cold, cocktails are creative and the bar tenders are so friendly! ( shout out to Courtney! You're awesome !) We are in town for a week, and visit Bernies Atleast once a day. Either for a cocktail, an appetizer, or a fun night out with the family!
