He gave us a great price for a unit that we could pick up at the end of the week. We pre-paid, they didn't seem to know how to use the credit card machine (hm), and we naively ignored these telltale signs... 10 weeks later, we still don't have our player. A couple of weeks ago, he gave my husband a dusty "loaner" unit, and it doesn't even work. All we want is our money back. We never, ever want to go there again, but unfortunately, we still have unfinished business to take care of.

Granted, I ain't Chinese and am probably not much of a Lady, but when anyone - not to mention a business - is able to be so publicly goofy, these issues magically turn into details. Still, Black Dude is awesome enough that I still go to him for my all my cell phone accessories. Sometimes, I head to Ashby Flea market just to get something from him. This happens often as the life expectancy of a cell phone in my hands is alarmingly short, so the need for new accessories to match happens frequently in my life. But let's not get distracted by this painfully embarrassing tangent. The point is that Black Dude is quick, efficient, and always of good humor. He knows his stuff - even with the ever changing and growing selection of cellphones on the market, and keeps a portable battery on hand to show you that he indeed is selling you the right charger. Finally... the thing that makes him a wonderful man to me... he's always down to save you hella bucks. Last time, he sent me off with a home charger and a car charger for just $11! Of course, he charged me $20 for the plastic bag, but I told him I would come back with that money "later". ;)

Last week was actually the second time I've used them for Mac repairs. The first time was last year for my 2020 Macbook. They replaced the battery and a couple of other things under Apple Care. I was in on a Saturday and got it back the same day. Back to work Monday. Finally, they're an Apple Authorized. So they're repairs are backed by Apple AND they're a lot faster than bringing it back to Apple. I don't live in Berkeley, but it's worth the travel time to use them for all my Apple repairs.

I don't know if they're supposed to, but if not, they could have told her instead of ignoring her. I'm now spending tons of time doing something that should be trivial for the guys at the phone store to do. I am livid.
