easy appointment, professional, fast, with the best taco truck. This has to be 85 characters so I had to add this too

I was a little late for my noon appointment, but I was waited on immediately with a smile . . . and I didn't have to wait long for everything to be done. Again, with a smile! read more

I've been coming to this place for smog checks for years. The place is clean and easy to find. The workers are friendly and efficient. I was literally in and out in 15 minutes with an appointment. I 100% recommend this shop for anyone within reasonable driving distance needing smog checks. read more

Very happy with my experience here. Easy to book online, quick smog check. Friendly service. I highly recommend!

Found this place via Groupon, and it was the first time getting a smog test since getting a hybrid. I booked online via their system and showed up. Unfortunately, the State's system was down and the person who helped me said it was unlikely to be restored that day. They had already processed my Groupon, but noted on my slip that the Groupon was valid and said I can show that slip for my next visit. I rescheduled and it was a painless process. The same person helped me no questions asked about my Groupon. I was in and out in under 10 min. I will return! read more

This will be my new " go to" place to get my vehicles smogged! I shopped around and this place just so happened to offer a Groupon voucher for a major discount in cost so I thought I'd try them. This place is by appointment so when I got there, there was no wait! The Service tech was not only very friendly but had me out of there in under 10 minutes! There's even a pretty decent taco truck if you need some munchies while you wait! No hidden costs! No hassles over advertised price or requirement to pay cash for the discount! I highly recommend this place!!! read more

Quick and efficient service at a great price! Staff are both professional and personable. Highly recommended for Smog Check read more

I made a same-day online smog appointment and received perfect service! My appointment was given priority over walk-ins, so I definitely recommend making an appointment if you can. The shop is very clean, technician very professional and knowledgeable, I recommend! They also handle certain DMV transactions, like registrations, which is great to know. A+ and five star! The on-line price is highly competitive. read more

Jesse of Berkeley Smog Test does an amazing job of mobile VIN verification. I had called another business and made an appointment for 11 AM in East Oakland the day before. They did not arrive in a timely fashion (actually claimed they were in their way at 4:40 pm, 20 minutes before my mechanic closed his doors). After getting no message all afternoon I called a place in SF who said they would arrive at 4:30. The guy from SF texted me at 4:30- where was I? I replied-I'm at blank address in E. Oakland. where I said I would be in your online form I submitted earlier. He flipped out and said I'm in SF. It's going to cost you $200 and it will take me two hours to get over the bridge...Then texted me weird screenshots and blaming me for not reading the directions on his website properly. I told him no thanks. In a panic I found Berkeley Mobile VIN and Jesse answered his phone (what?! How novel!) and told he he could be there by 5:30. My mechanic said he could stay later and Jesse arrived on time. I'll leave out the part where the #1 company showed up who had ignored my text message showed up in a huff after ignoring my email that I found someone else to help me...but Jesse carefully took on the job, focused on his work despite the drama and got all the info for my DMV verification and turned my stressful day into a success. When an issue popped up with dmv I was able to double check the next week and he was able to clarify the issue. No one seems to stand by their word, work, or followup these days but Berkeley Smog and VIN verifier does. So you can get your VIN verifier as well as smog test only taken care of at the physical address in Berkeley and then the mobile work starts after 5- 5:30 from what I understood. Definitely a place to go to if you are in Berkeley. Quality shop and business ethic. Much gratitude! read more

walked in on the recommendation of my mechanic. nice guy, got to my car quickly. good to go. another customer told me the adjacent taco truck burrito was a 7/10 but I didn't try it. Will be back for my next smog. read more

Can't say enough great things about this smog station in Berkeley. They were booked when we arrived but they fit us in as walk-ins. The service is excellent. The manager went above and beyond the call of duty for us, even staying a little late for us with a 3 day wkd ahead. Very nice person and does great work. Reasonable prices too. It's especially convenient here where the smog check and notice to DMV can all be done in one place. We were done quickly and on our way!!! read more

Fast, friendly service. I was in and out in under 15 minutes and the mechanic on duty was so helpful and I know it's a cliché but it was service with a smile. read more

Nice and friendly with really good and fast service would totally recommend to anyone

Service was quick and easy. The technician was very friendly and made me feel very comfortable. Id recommend this place to everyone.

This shop provided outstanding service all around I was in & out in less than 30 minutes. When I patronize businesses I look for a few things and Berkeley Smog Test did it from great customer service to explaining what they are doing. I will definitely recommend this place to family & friends : ) Thank you Jessie read more

This place is great the technician is amazing fast and very friendly plus if you book online you will get a discount. This place is amazing.

This was a great value, especially with a Groupon. You need to sign up for an appointment online. I made the mistake of just showing up, and then having to go online to make an appointment. Also, if your car doesn't smog, they can't fix it there--they are a SMOG check only. So, if you think your car might not smog, you may want to go somewhere else. read more

Professional, on-time, friendly and a good value. Does not look like much when you first look at the facilities, but their work is exactly what it should be. Have taken anything from a 20 year old Ford to a 2013 Porsche... Took all of 15 minutes to sign in, get tested and have the paperwork finished. read more

Easy, friendly and couples with Groupon! So big savings! and fairly quick if you get there early or have an appointment.

Excellent service, fast and efficient. Hardly no wait time. In & out, on my way. Great value compared to other smog shops in the area. This was my second vehical that required a smog test. I will return for a 3rd vehical. read more

I had an incredible experience here. The owner was pleasant and incredibly efficient. I will recommend it to family and friends and will be a long time customer read more

Highly recommend this place to get your smog check. It was quick and super easy and this was a designated star station as well. I made an appointment online the day before and when I arrived, there was no one else. The technician started working on my car right away after filling out some quick paperwork. They have a small waiting area with some magazines, candy/snack dispenser, and free wifi. I did not have to wait long because the smog check only took about 10 minutes and everything was done after about 15 minutes. Talk about quick service! I brought a Groupon and was able to use it to get a smog check at a discount. I didn't have issues redeeming the Groupon. They charge an extra $25 for cars that are older than 2000 and also charge a $8.25 to transfer the information to the DMV. Make sure to check Groupon or their website for a discount! read more

When DMV requires a smog check for restoration DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE! Jessie is THE MAN. I didn't read the small print on the Groupon paperwork that clearly stated you needed to make an appointment online. So I just show up not knowing that. Lucky for me his 12 o'clock apt didn't show so he had me in and out in 15 minutes. If only the rest of life was this easy! I see that I had posted another five star review for Berkeley Smog ten years ago. My how time flies. read more

Great service and great Groupon deal! I've had to use Berkeley Smog Test several times in the last few months and each time they were very professional and friendly. Highly recommend! read more

Got my smog check done here. Great price and quick service. Jessie is a pleasure to work with.

The owner is very nice. I had an appointment and it went fairly quickly. It's nice to have a DMV right there to save time. I just bought a used car. It passed though the former owner hadn't paid registration fees so I was stuck with a big unexpected bill but that's not the shop owner's fault.... Glad it's done! read more

Here's the deal. Smog is bs. But how do you deal with this bs in the easiest manner possible? I've been in the east bay 4 years, THERE IS NOT A BETTER PLACE TO SMOG YOUR CAR PERIOD. I've been there with all my rigs (13). Easy in and out. Easy to schedule online, 15 minutes out the door. Who else in this business does this? I made the mistake of taking my first rig to the place on park st. In Alameda? 80 some dollars and took over an hour......there was no one in front of me? I'm the asshat for accepting this? Berkeley smog has a 29.99 groupon but thier regular price is 54? Don't be an asshat like me, hit this place up each and every time. Judd in Alameda read more

Berkeley Smog Test is the best in the bay! Make an appointment online to get a discount and enjoy the quick and fast results of the staff and the attention to detail. While you wait, grab a taco at the taco truck on site while you wait for your car. Once your car is ready, the process to pay and get your car is easy and seamless. Go check them out and tell them I sent ya . read more

Great service at a great price. I was taken at exactly my appointment time, and soon left with my certificate for the best price I've found. I was impressed by how kindly the tech explained to another customer what she could do to pass the test after her car failed (for a minor reason). read more

This is the best deal for Smog in the Bay Area, and has all of my past smog prices beat for past years! There are multiple promotions available depending on where you look, there is even a Groupon option available for purchase. You are required to book an appointment for service, but even last minute are available, as there are time slots every 15 minutes. I really appreciate that this business actually honor their appointment times, that the Groupon was easy and straight forward to use, making it an overall pleasant experience! The employee was super friendly, and all of the terms of the Groupon were honored, (no tricks or funny business like the other Berkeley smog shop that is on Groupon). Highly recommend! read more

Had another wonderful Smog experience at Berkeley Smog Test. The owner is super efficient and friendly. Would never go anywhere else.

I had two cars to smog, and had purchased Groupons. If you have a Groupon, you need to make an appointment, online. The appointments start promptly on time, and the smog only takes about 15 minutes. Jesse was very efficient, and had us in and out of there in 30 minutes. Will definitely go back to this location next time. read more

I buy a Groupon and get my car smogged here every 2 years (Star Station). You set an appt on their website and one I arrived, it was quick, easy and I received great customer service (I was in & out within 10 minutes). Don't forget you have to pay an additional $8.25 for the smog certificate. I've checked prices around the bay, and Berkeley Smog Test Only Center is the BEST price using Groupon, hands down! read more

Fantastic & Super Easy. Made an appointment online (love the online booking discount too!). Very friendly dude working when I arrived. He got me in right away and completed my smog check and sent the information into DMV and I was good to go. I was in and out of there in about 15 minutes. This is where I will always go to do my smog check.! read more

If I could give a 6th star, I would. Jesse was very responsive to calls and texts and was able to fit me in and get me out in a very timely manner. He was able to authorize, smog and register my out-of-state vehicle which saved me the hassle of dealing with the DMV, and at a reasonable cost. Will be recommending him and going back there for any future service needs. Thanks Jesse! Bonus star: there's an incredible taco truck parked in the lot right next door. read more
