Don't be fooled by the positive reviews. This place is a scam. They always tell you one price and once you arrive, they use any excuse to jack up the price. Some of these reviews that claim this place has the best prices are wrong and not true. After they raise the price, they try and act like they are doing you a favor by provid you a discount that is still more than they initially quoted you and much more than many other places. After a very short wait, I promptly got the service I went for. However, I was originally given a written price of $99.75 plus $8.25 for the smog certificate. When I expressed surprise based on having seen prices at least 1/3 less at the many smog check businesses nearby, I was asked a few questions about how much and whether I had a coupon. I was ultimately given a discount price of $69.75 plus $8.25. While the employee was polite enough, this interaction made me suspicious enough that I went back to the company's web site and found I had paid the usual price, not a purported discounted price. With this business having been recommended by my mechanic, I did not do my homework thoroughly in advance, I would never recommend this business, which was ready to overcharge me, and then also claim to give me a non-existent discount. read more

If you go in the morning for the "deal," expect a complete mess of an experience. There is no "line" and although it's first come first served, the guy who runs this one man show can't keep straight who arrived first. I got called a "fucking bitch" by some old asshole who assumed he was ahead of me for reasons unknown. The owner argued with me and insisted I was not next when I definitely was. It's not my fault he can't keep things straight. Perhaps he needs a better system, or an employee??? It was only when the guy in front of me came to my defense that he realized he was wrong and I was next. I don't know if the owner is just sexist but I was the only woman waiting and felt like I was under attack at this place. It's highway robbery that this guy charges double if you go later in the day and without a coupon. All in all, it took about an hour and a half. Great place. I drove up, gave him my coupon, and he got right to work. You definitely need to print the coupon before showing up. The problem is that there is a coupon war amongst the smog check places, so they all have a coupon built into the price. What I liked about this place is that it wasn't hard to figure out what the price would be. The highly-recommended place I've been going to for years before this makes it impossible to figure out what their price is even with the coupon -- and the reviews mention prices all over the map. On the other hand, this place is up front about the price, although they're cash-only, which could be a problem for some folks. Also, make sure to account for the state-mandated cost of the certificate, which they list but don't include in the price. The technician pointed out the fine print price on the coupon since I had to have the more expensive STAR check (which I knew and read on the coupon). I also showed up before 10:30am to save even more money, which they also point out. The tech was easy to deal with and even suggested that I should wait a day to pay the registration to let the smog results get into the system. All in all, a reasonable experience for a task none of us want to have to take care of in the first place. Your checklist before going: 1) Print out the coupon in advance. 2) Get there before 10:30am. 3) Bring cash since they're cash-only -- and include money for the certificate, too. 4) Show the tech the coupon first. read more

I didn't need to print out the coupon as others have mentioned, but I had it queued up on my phone just in case. I did bring cash for the early bird discount. He was clear on the time estimate (14 min) and updated me as he went along. 2 other cars pulled up while my car was being worked on shortly after 9am, and he managed who went next well. Fast, professional service and the owner was even kind enough to point out that there was rat poop in my engine, giving me tips for how to keep them away. I found them through Yelp but didn't read enough detail to realize that the online coupon is huge. Their retail price is double the coupon price.
