Umit is very kind, professional and extremely trustworthy. There are many smog test places that are closer to where I live, but this will be my go to from now on. I came in with no check engine light error, but Umit noticed I had a sensor that wasn't cleared. Apparently, when I had my battery replaced a few months prior, I was unaware that there was a whole Honda drive cycle that needed to complete. He gave me amazing advice on how to try and clear it myself. He even said he would honor the price he quoted me and didnt charge a dime for that initial visit. I came back a couple weeks later and everything was a breeze from then on. I was his first customer for the day and he had me in and out of there so fast. Even when I tipped him, he said the tip was too much. I told him that was the least I can do. I know NOTHING about cars and If it wasn't for him and his honest advice, I probably would've paid for a whole new catalytic converter to be installed just to pass smog. Go here for your smog checks! Umit is honest and fair! You will not be disappointed! read more

Went to EZ Star Test Only 2 yesterday based on Yelp reviews-- I totally agree that this is an excellent place for efficient, reasonably priced (using online coupon) smog checks. Service is on a first-come, first served basis. With 2 cars in front of mine, I waited only about 15 minutes, and the test itself was done quickly. An additional reason for this location's excellent reviews is the exceptionally gentlemanly demeanor of the manager, Umit. I mentioned to Umit that his speech and Old World, dignified bearing would make him equally well suited to a setting in which he would be wearing a tux. Enjoy a nice smog check! read more

So quick and easy! It's first come first served but fast moving. I waited only ten minutes and the staff are very friendly and safe :)

This worked out perfectly for me. The young man was very nice and polite. He was a pleasure to deal with. Efficient and fast. I will definitely come back here. read more

#1. I showed up and was taken care of right away. #2. But there was more to it. The man who did the smog check was very friendly, spoke precisely, and overall "understood the assignment". He was efficient, kind, funny, and made a chore very enjoyable. I would recommend this place! His name is M--- Sorry I cannot recall. read more

The owner is very friendly and helpful. I noticed that customers return for future service--62%. The price is reasonable. I had time to visit Umit. He served me tea. If you want friendly service, consider going there. read more

Excellent Service. the technician (Rich) was very professional and courteous. My car passed and was done within 15 minutes. No complaints. Highly Recommended. read more

Happy to report the service continues to be excellent. Very professional and efficient. There are many choices when it comes to smog checks, but I believe this is the best. read more

Don't be fooled by the positive reviews. This place is a scam. They always tell you one price and once you arrive, they use any excuse to jack up the price. Some of these reviews that claim this place has the best prices are wrong and not true. After they raise the price, they try and act like they are doing you a favor by provid you a discount that is still more than they initially quoted you and much more than many other places. Believe me, there are much better and less expensive places around. Take your time and do your research. read more

Super fast and friendly service. Took 15 mins like it says. Used to go to them when they were on University. Glad they're still around.

First smog test on my 2017 vehicle came up this year. The gentleman who runs this place is expedient, thorough and courteous. He had one customer in front of me and I was still in/out in less than 1/2 hour. Highly recommend! read more

Excellent, timely service at a reasonable price. Smog check went off without a hitch.

After a very short wait, I promptly got the service I went for. However, I was originally given a written price of $99.75 plus $8.25 for the smog certificate. When I expressed surprise based on having seen prices at least 1/3 less at the many smog check businesses nearby, I was asked a few questions about how much and whether I had a coupon. I was ultimately given a discount price of $69.75 plus $8.25. While the employee was polite enough, this interaction made me suspicious enough that I went back to the company's web site and found I had paid the usual price, not a purported discounted price. Furthermore, there was a $20 off coupon on the web site. With this business having been recommended by my mechanic, I did not do my homework thoroughly in advance, I would never recommend this business, which was ready to overcharge me, and then also claim to give me a non-existent discount. read more

No appointment needed and wait was relatively short. I assumed it was the owner who performed the SMOG check for me and he provided quick and great service. When the service was done, he went above and beyond and pointed out to me that I might needed to check out a problem on my car that he noticed that was not part of the smog check. Highly recommend. read more

If you go in the morning for the "deal," expect a complete mess of an experience. There is no "line" and although it's first come first served, the guy who runs this one man show can't keep straight who arrived first. I got called a "fucking bitch" by some old asshole who assumed he was ahead of me for reasons unknown. The owner argued with me and insisted I was not next when I definitely was. It's not my fault he can't keep things straight. Perhaps he needs a better system, or an employee??? It was only when the guy in front of me came to my defense that he realized he was wrong and I was next. I don't know if the owner is just sexist but I was the only woman waiting and felt like I was under attack at this place. It's highway robbery that this guy charges double if you go later in the day and without a coupon. All in all, it took about an hour and a half. It was not worth the time or aggravation to save money. There are a million of these places around. I will never come back here again. read more

Took care of smog test quickly and painlessly. I actually later had trouble with my vehicle registration and called them thinking they hadn't submitted the smog check, but the owner calmly showed me that this wasn't the case, deflating a potentially antagonistic situation. read more

If you happen to go to this place, ask for the price over the phone, because it can change if you don't remind them. The gentlemen was tryin to charge me double before I reminded him what he quoted me over the phone. Don't think I'll repeat. BB read more

Great place. I drove up, gave him my coupon, and he got right to work. You definitely need to print the coupon before showing up. The problem is that there is a coupon war amongst the smog check places, so they all have a coupon built into the price. What I liked about this place is that it wasn't hard to figure out what the price would be. The highly-recommended place I've been going to for years before this makes it impossible to figure out what their price is even with the coupon -- and the reviews mention prices all over the map. On the other hand, this place is up front about the price, although they're cash-only, which could be a problem for some folks. Also, make sure to account for the state-mandated cost of the certificate, which they list but don't include in the price. The technician pointed out the fine print price on the coupon since I had to have the more expensive STAR check (which I knew and read on the coupon). I also showed up before 10:30am to save even more money, which they also point out. The tech was easy to deal with and even suggested that I should wait a day to pay the registration to let the smog results get into the system. All in all, a reasonable experience for a task none of us want to have to take care of in the first place. Your checklist before going: 1) Print out the coupon in advance. 2) Get there before 10:30am. 3) Bring cash since they're cash-only -- and include money for the certificate, too. 4) Show the tech the coupon first. read more

Umit was polite, efficient and even pointed out another vehicle issue to be aware of. Good quality service

Great customer service. I called and they fit me in, no appointment necessary. The smog check took about 12 minutes to do, and I was on my way. I would definitely recommend this spot. read more

Sweet and helpful good pricing. I always go here even though it is out of my way. Highly recommend.

Dropped on to get my daughter's car smogged. Place looks a little rundown, but the service was great and the bill was only $48 )including $8 certificate). The owner was very helpful. read more

Very fast, efficient, and professional work done by the worker here. I showed up just before 9am and was the first in line for the early bird special. I didn't need to print out the coupon as others have mentioned, but I had it queued up on my phone just in case. I did bring cash for the early bird discount. He was clear on the time estimate (14 min) and updated me as he went along. 2 other cars pulled up while my car was being worked on shortly after 9am, and he managed who went next well. Definitely one of the more professional smog checks I've had in recent memory, and a good deal to boot. I'll be back when the DMV makes me read more

I spend 90+ dollars for a 2010 Honda Civic smog check. (Normally it took $40 including everything at other places. ) The person wanted to charge me $90+ tax=$100+!!!I asked for a student coupon then he started to do paper work. After that he gave me $10 off. I felt sorry if I rejected him at that time since he has starter some paper work. But can you believe I spent $90+ dollars on smog check on a 2010 civic??? Very disappointment about yelp ads suggestions. I can't believe why this guy cheated a poor student like me. read more

Fast, professional service and the owner was even kind enough to point out that there was rat poop in my engine, giving me tips for how to keep them away. I found them through Yelp but didn't read enough detail to realize that the online coupon is huge. Their retail price is double the coupon price. I was super bummed after realizing I overpaid by that much - usually a few bucks here and there isn't a big deal, but overpaying by double just hurts. I went back and talked to the owner and he was understanding and gave me a partial refund. I don't agree with these pricing practices, but I'm grateful for the service and the time he took to talk to me and give me partial refund. read more

I called to see if I needed to make an appointment for a smog check and the guy told me to just come and he'd take take of me. Sure enough I showed up and he got me in and out. I had some random coupon that he honored which I really appreciated since these kinds of places normally try to get as much money out of you as possible. Best price I found in the area, by far. Also, as a new CA resident, I've never done a smog check before so he walked me through it and was super nice and professional. I felt like he was a good, honest person! He even said I could wait in the back seat while he worked on the car (14 min.. that's it). Satisfied customer! read more

I didn't know about the coupon or website. I was charged 89.95 but the owner didn't ask or ever mentioned it is only 29.95 with coupon. Fine I didn't do the research but this is shady for $70 difference. I newly moved to Albany and tried to support local business and ended up with this. Huh. Owner, do yourself some good karma and you don't have to do business like this. read more
