Operating out of a single-car garage within a Chevron station, I was able to be in and out within 15mins as I came during a rainy day and there was no one else in front of me. They will only accept the mailer coupons if you pay with cash. Service was friendly, however there is no real waiting area due to the limited space. I've been coming to this smog check station for all my cars for many years. I do find them reliable and the employees nice. I came recently and printed out the coupon from their website. But when I presented it to the employee he said they are no longer taking coupons. Another customer came after me with a coupon from the Valpak mailer so I told her he would not accept my coupon but she could try asking him. I left before I found out what happened with her. I had to get a smog check in order to renew my car registration. I called ahead because I didn't know whether they were still open because of the coronavirus shelter in place mandate. The woman who picked up the phone quoted me for $28, monthly special if you pay with cash. She also mentioned that there was no requirement to make an appointment. I drove up in the afternoon around 3 pm and was helped right away. The employee took extra measures (wearing gloves, was conscientious about social distancing, and didn't enter my vehicle) because of coronavirus concerns. I was very appreciative of this. The check was very quick, I received my receipt and they submit the results to the DMV itself. This was a very quick and easy smog check. I would recommend others to come here for a smog check. It was 20 minutes She offered comfortable chairs or suggested a nice walk in a quiet residential neighborhood. Very relaxing. Next Branden did the test. After telling me my car passed the somg test, he gave me excellent advice on preparing for a smog test in the future. Then Branden helped me fix my horn on my car that had not been working. They are charging much higher fees for a simple smog check than before. Not the same person that used to be there and they don't take appointments any more. I brought a coupon and then the owner said cash only, apparently it was listed in the small letters of the coupon. She also does not apply the coupon for care model year 2010 or older. If you are only interested in a cheap rate and DO NOT care about the the nature of the man who runs this business, then DO spend your money here. If you DO care about being treated in a kind and professional manner, DO NOT give your business to this unkind, condescending man. The particulars: Two years ago, I had a positive & professional experience at this business. I received kind treatment and great value, which was the basis for my return. Today, 5.2.23, on-site Smog Tech Mike (who is NOT the owner) was matter-of-fact when he told me that my 1st coupon, an early bird rate of $28 cash, was "no longer accepted," though the coupon had no expiration date. My 2nd coupon for $33 cash had expired, so I pulled another current coupon up on Valupak which did state there is an extra charge for "SUV's". Mike told then me there would be a $10 additional SUV charge. However, I have a compact SUV, which was smogged at this site two years ago, without any additional charge BECAUSE it is not a full size SUV. When I explained my prior experience to Mike, he told me to call the owner and gave me the phone number. The owner stated the early bird coupon was not his coupon (although it clearly stated his business' name & his tech Mike told me that coupon was "no longer accepted"). He listened briefly, then interrupted me numerous times, before I finally was able to make clear that, two years ago, my vehicle was NOT up-charged as a full SUV, as it is a compact. The owner refused to address that simple fact, instead hit a crescendo and blurted that I could take my business elsewhere. His voice had reached a level of vehemence and fury. I said I would NOT do business with him. I told him how unkind, rude and unprofessional he acted & how I would share that information; I ended the phone call. I apologized to Smog Tech Mike, wondered aloud how he could work for such a man, wished him luck and left. A few moments later, several calls came to my phone from the owner's number; I declined all of them and blocked his number. The owner's harsh, condescending speech and his subsequent phone harassment are inexcusable, improper and just plain wrong.
