Update: I did have someone reach out from the company named Andy to explain their pricing and offered a solution to make things right in my eyes. The pricing isn't by hourly, but by a software they use to find the best rates for the job required. Ultimately, I've voiced my concerns of how that system works and what I think could change but they are sticking with the way the price structure works, as it works for them. I am happy with the solution that was offered to me, and would use this company again, but more so for serious issues that require an expert to come out. When booking the appointment, it was explained to me that it was $85 to have the team come out, and an additional $125 for diagnostic of the situation of my leaky pipe, which could be used towards the maintenance cost. The determination made by the technician is that the pack nuts needed to be screwed tighter, and it took the technician less than 2 minutes to do so. For this labor, I was charged $220, and the charge is not itemized, it is just marked as misc. - and I had no option to just tighten it myself, as it already cost me $125 for the technician to diagnose the issue. Since I was charged $220 for 2-3 minutes of labor, that's about $6600 per hour that they charge. If we did just the $95 on top of the diagnostic, that's $2,850 per hour for their labor. I understand they are a business and I am not saying I expected the work to be free, but for the fact it was an additional $95 for him to tighten the pack nuts in 2-3 minutes is crazy. I asked about why it costs so much / the charge couldn't be a flat $125 since it was a simple solution, the technician told me it was a liability if he didn't charge me for his work, and since he had to screw TWO pack nuts, that's where the extra charge came in. If you go through this company, just expect a labor cost of $47.50 per minute. read more

Thank you to Bergsma and Technician Josh K. The plumbing repair visit to my home today was handled with professionalism and courtesy. Josh not only did a great job with the repair but also shared helpful preventative maintenance advice. This is the second time I have had Team Bergsma to my home for repairs and will not hesitate to call them again! read more

I am only giving this a 2 star review because they were late coming to the house and because they do not use drop cloths on the floors. The person who did our house left our kitchen in shambles, used my mop pail for his tools. He said that the putty that he put around our kitchen sink would turn clear but it is gray and peeling apart. I am still cleaning putty off the floor on a weekly basis. read more

Charged $250 and were unable to fix the problem. Had to call another company to fix the issue.

Highly unprofessional and overpriced! I called to have a small piece of PVC drainage pipe replaced for my tankless water heater as it had a crack. They informed me at the visit (was not disclosed when I made the appointment) it would be $85 for the visit to my home, $120 for diagnostics (ridiculous as I told them the problem), and they have a minimum service fee of $210. My estimate was well over $400 to fix a small PVC pipe. I told them that price was ridiculous and the plumber agreed. None of these fees were disclosed prior to the visit and they refused to waive them when they were not previously disclosed stating it is their policy even though they acknowledged customers are regularly not being informed of the fees when appointments are scheduled. I asked for the supervisor's information and was told by the workers they did not have this, I would need to call the main number. I had to pay them to get them to leave. It was very uncomfortable and I can only imagine how intimated the vulnerable population must feel in these situations. I filed a complaint the BBB. Do better Bergsma! read more

The guys at Bergsma Plumbing were able to fix my shower in less than a day. From estimate to completing the job, their techs Sam and Royce were friendly, informative and exceptional. They absolutely exceeded my expectations, and the cost was way less than I was fearing. I reached out to them through a referral from a friend, and will absolutely be recommending them to others. read more

Got ourselves a Bradford-White heat pump hybrid water heater and can't say enough good things about it - we've had it for about a month now, and it has exceeded our expectations in every way: efficient, intuitive and unquestionably worth the upgrade. The crew at Bergsma Plumbing also exceeded our expectations - the installation was perfect, the crew was both personable and professional, they did a beautiful job on the supporting plumbing, and we couldn't be happier with the product and the service we received. We will keep Bergsma in mind for all future plumbing needs - thank you to everyone there! read more

I've used Bergsma twice in recent years. Everything was explained, including pricing, before he began. Much appreciated. Their service technicians were prompt and very helpful. The last one even gave me tips to help not need their services for a routine issue. I highly recommend using Bergsma Plumbing read more

Spent $85 for them to inspect my mom's pipes which they took pictures of and said the pipes were busted. Which they weren't. Charged me $325 for a service fee and did nothing. I had another company I used a couple of years ago come in and tell me the pipes are just frozen because of the cold. Charge me just the $75 inspection Charge. So I will never deal with them again. read more

The serviceman from Bergsma Plumbing did a good job. He was courteous and informative. However, please be aware, the service was very expensive. We should have been more careful in researching costs. read more

Bergsma Plumbing came out to clear the roots in my sewer. They kept upselling me. By the time they left they charged me $1700! I backed up 2 months later. Another company opened my sewer up and showed me my pipe with his camera. Bergsma left a ton of roots in my line. Do not call these guys! read more

My dad's hot water heater needed replacing . He called them he told and he told him that his hot water heater was leaking. It took them 4 hours to get to his place . They said , two guys , that they came from Rockford to Hudsonville , my dad's home . With no hot water heater . So then they had to run back to Comstock Park to their warehouse to get a hot water heater and then come back . So they ran up the bill when they could have picked up the hot water heater on their way from Rockford to his house . The bill is over $3,000 . Hot water heater at Lowe's is 700 . My dad asked for an itemized bill and it says labor $2,900. That's not itemized . He's called three times in 2 days and still has not been able to talk to the manager or the owner . This company is a ripoff . Way over priced, and it took two guys over 4 hours to do the job. I can see why when they were mostly on the road running upbthe bill. The water heater is in his garage, in a utility room. Easy access. Terrible buisiness. BBB says they hsve had 12 complaints in 6 months. How many people havs said nothing. I dont recommend them. read more

Bergsma priced gouged me yesterday. Another plumbing company had worked for over an hour to snake my main drain to no avail. They had a senior discount of $19.99. Bergsma comes in AFTER them, does the same thing, gets it open and charges $550 fkn' dollars. NO VETERANS OR SENIOR DISCOUNT. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND OR DO BUSINESSVWITH THEM AGAIN. read more

Their website says they will inspection your entire plumbing system. The technicians came out today. They glanced at my hot water heater. I was told it couldn't be flushed even though their website offers that service. I was charged $200.00 for a service call and diagnosis. The estimate given to me was $2,500.00. That included two to three hours of labor. I wish I had never invited them to my home! read more

Bergsma was on the spot when I couldn't get our usual go to for over 24 hours. They were there the next day. Our most current issue was handled with great competence. I called at 5:30, they answered my call, and gave me a call back within 15 minutes. Had Dave to us by 10am. He was fantastic. Took great care of the trouble, explained everything to me in detail. Called for service and had someone over a week later. I mentioned my pressure tank was making a thumping noise where pressure is bouncing from 40-50. plumber came out and told me it's a pressure switch but he doesn't carry those on the truck so he'll have to run to hardware store. after the new switch it installed it is still thumping so he FaceTimes someone to troubleshoot they end up releasing some pressure from the tank and the thumping quit. they told me I must've over pressurized it and its been happening. I've been living here 5 years and it has never done this. Presure switch - $365. I confirmed they're about $50 at the store. labor - $85 24 hours later we are thumping. So close to $500 for nothing. read more

Bergsma installed a water heater for me two years ago, and the installation went great. Today I noticed a leak in my kitchen, coming from the bathroom above. Not only did they fit me in after calling them after 2pm, they were completely finished in less than two hours from that phone call. I don't think I could have gotten it repaired that fast even if I had a plumber in the family. A+ read more

I had a leak underneath my kitchen sink which leaked into the basement. I called Bergsma Plumbing after hours. The emergency charge for an after- hours call was $250.00. The plumber advised me that there was a pinhole leak in the pipe. The charge to fix the pipe was $537.00. (total charge $787.00). I sent two texts to the plumber that same evening advising her that there was still significant leaking (emptying buckets, sopping wet towels) in the basement. She said that it was residual leaking. I came home from work the following day and still had heavy leaking in the basement. I texted and call Bergsma's. They indicated that would try to come out the same night/early morning 2:00 AM to 4:30 AM. I received another text indicating that the technician's shift ended at 6:00 AM, and that the other plumber would come to my house around 7:00 AM. She fixed a cracked pipe and removed the osmosis tank. The labor and parts were $377.00, In a 48 hour period, I incurred additional water damage and expenses when the problem should have been corrected the first evening. My total out of pocket expenses were $1164.00. I asked the plumber to fix a leaky faucet on my laundry sink which totaled $537.00. For the poor service, inconvenience, and exorbitant pricing, I will select another plumbing company in the future. read more

I was optimistic to have someone seem eager to come help us right away with our broken dishwasher. Said they would arrive between 10-12...they texted 10 mins ahead of time to say they were on their way, got to my house by 9:25. so that was a frantic rush with my kiddos. To my surprise, TWO techs showed up (always just had one in the past from other companies) even though my text notification only named one tech, Kyle. Seemed to be more focused on my loud garbage disposal then the broken dishwasher that's damaging my kitchen floor from leaking water...After about 40 mins, no resolution to my problem. I was told probably better off just buying a new dishwasher to avoid the cost of moving the dishwasher out to check the lines. Thank god I decided on a new dishwasher because I was shocked to find out I was charged $295! Looking back at the invoice, I see a fee of $85 to come out & was charged for BOTH techs which was $210 (& why wasn't I notified of the cost of the 2nd tech?? shady) for about 40 mins and NO resolution! Which seems wild to me! Man, the techs were nice, but dang, we got screwed big time by Bergsma plumbing! Will not use again & would not recommend to anyone. read more

We had the best experience with Bergsma! Our water heater went out this morning. I called Bergsma and they were at our house within a few hours. Prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. The tech they sent was great. This said I give them 4 stars (3.5 would be more appropriate) instead of 5 because they were VERY pricey. We purchased a kitchen faucet and it was marked up at least 3x. I know this because the tech showed us their cost. We also needed 2 sink drain heads installed as 1 of them was leaking and we were told we'd need to replace both because of the way the two sinks were plumbed. We decided to live with it because they wanted over $800 to sell and install these. This is a boat load of money for two retirees on a fixed income. So they fixed one leak with the new faucet, but they priced us out for the sink head drains so we still have a leak. I am not saying they are dishonest but they get their money for sure. $85 to show up and an additional $185 to diagnose the issue. The $185 is taken off the price ONLY IF you decide to use them. At that point you are sort of locked in financially and of course this is by design. If you do not decide to use them you are out all that money, which is why we had no choice but to overpay for the installation of a faucet. Again, I am not saying they are dishonest, but they are pretty darn expensive. All this said I was happy with the finished product, but probably would not use them again just because of the way they structure their pricing. read more

our toilet was flushing by itself . Upon trying to turn off the water supply to the tank it was leaking. I called Bergsma Plumbing and they sent Matt. He arrived. Took him less than 10 minutes to replace fill valve and inside tank parts ( said we didn't need a new flapper ) We he told me the cost I almost choked 390.00 dollars. !!!! well he left and all night toilet flushed by itself. I called and they sent Josh. He said flapper problem ! Didn't replace-it and said I owed 85 service call. I refused to pay. I notified the office of my problems and was told she would contact the manager. Well I had another company actually come and fix my toilet. It need a new flapper SURPRISE ! Bergsma Plumbing is did a good job on 2 plumbing projects. They are personable and get the job done!

so I had an appointment today between eight and 10 with a confirmation yesterday I received no call when they did not show up I called in they had to call the driver. He said he had car problems but couldn't call the office or the customer to give me a heads up, for that reason that's a huge strike against them. I don't know what this says about the company but if he was my employee, I would be livid. just spoke with the manager that didn't sound very apologetic. He just told me he was going to have my review removed because I wasn't a customer. I still can't believe somebody can't make a phone call with all the cell phone today he even had all the information wrong. He thought he called me, but I had to call the office to find out where they were at after listening to the manager because I got a text to call them. I don't think I'd ever do business with this company. read more

I had them come out to replace a hot water heater. They said the cost would be $850, but it ended up costing over $1,100. The hot water heater did have some code compliant issues, but the up charges seemed on the high end. The water heater wasn't installed level, and I pointed it out to the owner. He didn't seem to care and never addressed it. I then had them come out for a sump pump replacement. They charged $450 to install (30 minutes) a $125 pump. On top of that, they charged a trip charge, diagnostic charge and the replacement of the sump, and adding a 30 foot section of reverse osmosis line cost $850. They will not get my business again. read more

I was very happy with Noah and his ability. We had an emergency situation. I was unable to get anyone on the same day. Bergsma offered emergency service for that evening. I was so anxious to get the job done that it never occurred to me to ask the cost. 100% my mistake, and I will never in my life do that again! I don't know if Bergsma has exceptionally high pricing or if this was price gouging due to the emergency situation. As it turns out all we needed was a cartridge. When Noah gave me the price I nearly cried. We are retired couple on a fixed income and we're given a quote at $888 to replace a cartridge. They did end up bringing the price down to $725. My husband and I had our own business, he repaired gas fireplaces. Never in all of the time that we had our business did we ever charge such ridiculous prices. I know the cost of running a business. I also know how to treat your customers right. This was a literally less than a 20 minute job with a part that cost less than $30. I was curious and got online to see what the average cost would be for a job like this. On average, it cost between $200 and $400 to replace a shower cartridge. I feel cheated and I could never ever recommend Bergsma. read more
