Do not purchase online. It is a scam ! I had placed an order and the transaction completed on my end but the website said "there was en error " I called the contact number and was told I was going to get a call back in 10 minutes. Hours passed and no call I reached out again and was told oh yeah don't know what you can do about it. so unless you want to have to dispute a charge with your bank and have to get a new debit card I would avoid. read more

This was the popcorn ordered for a conference I attended at Goldman Sachs, one of the small businesses that they supported. Three different crimes were available and I tried all three. Overall each of the popcorn's had great popped kernels with very little unpopped corn at the bottom. Each came in a very large chain with Berco's name on it. The truffle was good in small doses, but was too overwhelming for any significant size of snacking. The white cheddar was delicious but super salty. Was excited to try some Berco popcorn after seeing it showcased on "Most Expensivest". Placed our order - on Dec. 31, 2018 - for the 8 oz package of Billion Dollar Popcorn and a gallon of the Caramel Corn. No delivery of product for a few weeks, finally we received the Billion Dollar Popcorn (Only) - on Jan. 16, 2019 - with notice of apology for the delay in shipment. First red flag here: It would've been nice to receive some communication prior letting me know of the delay in shipping. We opened the Billion Dollar Popcorn the following day (Jan. 17, 2019) and was disappointed - it was stale and chewy! I contacted Berco via phone call and spoke with "Matt" - I explained the situation, but because it was close to closing, he wasn't able to do much and offered to give me a call the following day (Friday) or Monday. He also said "this is unusual that you're experiencing stale and chewiness - as the products are shipment shortly after mixture - I'm not saying I don't trust you, but it is unusual". Really?!?! Why would I lie. I explained that I've had other types of Caramel Corn and never had this experience, it's always had some crunch. Friday came and went, and so did Monday - no call back from Matt or anyone else from Berco. Waited a few more days and received our Gallon of Caramel Popcorn on Jan. 25, 2019. To my surprise, the quality was much better - but still no word from Berco on the Billion Dollar popcorn. So I sent a "comment" through their website on Jan 26th.... Still no follow-up, so sent another "comment" on Jan. 29, 2019 - I also looked around on their website for an email address, but no success - so the same day I sent a reply via my order confirmation email , explaining the situation and requesting a refund of the Billion Dollar Popcorn. I then called and left a voicemail on Jan 31, 2019 explaining my attempts at reaching someone through written communication and that I would like to speak with someone regarding the matter, and would like a refund of the 8 oz package of Billion Dollar Popcorn. There were no replies to any of my written communication, or the phone call I made. Not only is the product questionable, the lack of customer service leaves something to be desired and they got away with my money. I will NEVER order from Berco again - I can get better quality popcorn elsewhere, like Popcornopolis. They get hype of their business through a television show - good for them - but can't follow through with quality product! read more

We've been ordering popcorn from a certain company in Chicago as special Christmas gifts for the last 8 years. This year, my son (who is VERY particular about popcorn) suggested trying Berco's Popcorn. I placed the order on December 22 to arrive in California before New Years Eve. Of course it was delayed! It took a few extra days to arrive, and my kids are raving about the Truffle popcorn. First heard about Berco's through the GQ video with 2-Chainz, Nyjah, and the owner Matt. I recently moved back to Chicago, so this was definitely on my list of spots to visit. It is was a bit hard to locate the shop when I first arrived, as there was no sign for the store. I finally found it right next door to Jeni's Ice Cream, in the suite underneath Village Cobbler Shoe Repair. You will see some Berco's tins stacked in the window. When I went in, they unfortunately had just run out of caramel corn, and I was informed that it would take about an hour to re-stock. They then took down my number and told me they would call me when it was ready. After about 45 minutes, I promptly received a call from Matt himself and was told the caramel corn was ready. Sure enough, I went back in and he was there to greet me. Matt quickly prepared my order, and we also had a great conversation about the popcorn and the video. Great guy. I finally tasted the popcorn when I returned home, and oh man.....Berco's blows places like Garrett's and Nuts on Clark out of the water. All the flavors were perfectly seasoned - nothing was too salty, sweet, or bland. The caramel corn was great, the white cheddar didn't taste artificial, and the white truffle was extremely flavorful. This place definitely deserves a lot more credit. I will definitely be returning! read more

Really loved the flavors of the popcorn. I got the white cheddar dusted with Northwood -- the maple garlic salt. My oh my, it's delicious. Bought a regular sized bag but none of the popcorn made it home. It was too good. I would have, however, liked the popcorn to be more fresh. It was kind of just sitting there and if it wasn't for the white cheddar flavor itself, the texture was lacking. I also sampled the caramel and the white truffle. I liked that the caramel wasn't overly sweet like at Garrett's but the white truffle was just okay. Not enough of the truffle-y taste in my opinion. read more

I was fortunate to get to sample the World Famous Best Ever Mix at Berco's Popcorn. For those of you who don't know this in Chicago they like to eat the caramel corn and the cheese popcorn mixed together. Berco's had white cheddar so your fingers don't turn orange. I thought this was amazingly delicious. The white cheddar popcorn was rich and salty and buttery and the caramel corn was sweet and they both just worked well together. Make no mistake, their popcorn is excellent. Their logistics and customer service, however are broken. I placed an order on December 5th and another on December 10th for 1 tin each. I received an e-mail from them on December 9th stating "With the overwhelming success of "Most Expensivist" and the holiday season upon us, we are a bit further behind with our orders than we would like. Fear not - your order will arrive in time for Christmas!" Suffice to say, neither order did. They arrived mid January. Since these were intended to be Christmas gifts for friends and relatives, I attempted to cancel them on December 26th. After repeated e-mails and voice messages left with 'customer service' I received only a confirmation e-mail on January 13th that my orders would be shipped and tracking info provided. No one ever answered the phone, or returned my phone calls or e-mails regarding my cancellation...I was completely ignored and products were shipped anyways. Some companies don't charge your CC until the item you ordered actually ships....not Berco's...they charged me the day of the order and then lied to me. I suggest they expend more effort improving logistics instead of coating popcorn with gold flake and marketing it. read more

They moved down the street from a previous location so they are OPEN!!! This blows Garett's out the water. Fresh, original, so good. Chew carefully. The good their cheese popcorn jas a nice flavor and is not very salty, about perfect. It goes downhill from their. The popcorn hybrid they use must be the least tender I have ever had from a popcorn vendor. It is very tough and too chewy. Worst yet, it has giant tough hulls. If you do not chew carefully. I believe you can break a tooth or a filling. Last, their cheese popcorn lacks the buttery mouth feel and flavor of superior cheese popcorns like Garretts or Kernels. I believe Berco uses cheese powder alone. read more

My wife and I definitely stumbled on this place while in the neighborhood a few weeks ago. It wasn't a planned stop, but the appeal of their high quality popcorn was too hard to pass up. We, of course, opted for the Hot Doug's duck fat popcorn, and were not disappointed. Such rich flavor, and the only potential drawback might have been that the flavor was strong enough that I felt like I could only eat this in smaller than my usual popcorn servings. We stumbled upon Breco's today while wandering past the construction I peeked in the window. To my surprise I see a man waving energetically at us so we walk inside and strike up a long conversation with who we find out to be the owner. Matt is really awesome. He was very friendly, asked us why were were in the city and took interest in our future plans (after college). He is extremely down to earth and makes some dang good popcorn. Since he is a popcorn lover himself, he knows how to make his customers happy but packing the bags the FULLEST they can go, charge a fair price, yet still serving up fantastic popcorn. 15 out of 10 I would recommend this place. read more

So... there is Chicago popcorn and then there is Berco!!!!! Scott was so friendly and made sure our experience stood out. He succeeded!!! To start, he gave us samples off their offerings. Personally, I love the white truffle butter. You can't go wrong with any of the flavors. For a real treat, you can a single kernel of the world's most expensive popcorn for a mere $5. So let me explain. They get salt from Denmark which is mined the same way it was 1000 years ago. This stuff isn't inexpensive. It also comes with edible 24K gold flakes. You can spend a months mortgage on a large bag or get to experience for $5. I opted for the $5 deal. It comes in a vacuum sealed gold bag. Nice touch!!! They do a lot of on line orders. This popcorn is absolutely delicious. The store is beautiful and modern. I love the simplicity in the decor which seems to reflect the simple, yet classic flavors in the popcorn. You can add flare to the popcorn with chocolate and strawberry sugar as well as the seasoning from Chicago Q. We chose to keep it simple, but this sounds like a good option to try next time. My husband described the white cheddar as "chef inspired". I loved the caramel the best. It's definitely a step up from current Chicago options. Way to go, berco! We will be back! read more

Berco's is awesome. High-end, gourmet popcorn befitting the neighborhood but reasonably priced. I've been a customer since their online-only days and have to say it's a far better option than the "established" Chicago popcorn joints. Personally, I'm a fan of their Best Ever Mix, the white cheddar makes it for me. Some of the more exotic options are great too, but my new favs are the in-store only spicy and BBQ seasonings as well as the chocolate-drizzled varieties. I still haven't made it for one of their in-store movie screenings, but plan to soon. Drop in to check out the owner's impressive mop of hair, if for no other reason. read more

We met a guy from here at a charity event last night. I must disclose that I haven't been in the store before, so I can't speak to the experience there, but they were good last night. The guy was overly confident in his caramel corn which was good, but it wasn't nearly as good as Mother Butters. The truffle corn was very good though. I generally find all things truffle to be a lot of hype because the word truffle is cool right now, but this stuff was actually very good. I'm also not a huge fan of this neghborhood, so I'm sure that played a part in my judgement. I'm sure I'll stop in the shop when I'm in the neighborhood some day just so I have a true gauge of the brand, but I doubt it will slip into my "#1 Chicago Popcorn" title spot. Not that I'm not open to that, it's just doubtful from what I've had. read more

We just got a gallon of the World Famous Best Ever Mix from very good friend who visited us recently. Apparently we were very good to her because this is the best popcorn I have ever eaten, period! A perfect blend of sweet but not too sweet and salty but not too salty. The packaging we well done, nothing was dented when we opened it. And the pack of resealable travel bags is a nice touch.
