5 Star rating because it just "feels" like home. The food, customers, ,waitstaff, and the owner made me feel as if I were a part of their family. I truly felt welcomed. Now to the food, I had breakfast at this lovely diner, and it was wonderful I had country, ham, grits, toast, two eggs, and black coffee stars.. At the time I went, you can only pay by cash. I'm not sure if things have changed but bring your wallet not because it's expensive just because they only take the cash. So...if you want some down home country cooking, I.e. collard greens, pinto beans, grits,, etc. this is your place to go. Country style cooking that is best. A great place for locals to meet for breakfast lunch or dinner don't forget to bring cash. No cards are excepted when I went, but they have a little ATM machine everyone's local, the food is amazing and they give you plenty it's like going home to mamas house, I forgot to take a picture of my breakfast, but I had liver mush, grits, eggs, and coffee. If traveling Hwy 601 into Monroe try Benton's.I've been in here several times in the week.First time had a plate lunch and veggies.On my next trip I tried a burger and fries.Both visits very good.Then my wife and I stopped in on another Saturday she had a corn dog and fries.I had a chesse burger and a hot dog.Both mustard-chili-slaw(mayonnaise or white) very good.Benton's has a very good slaw,and chili.Their burger is a big burger cooked on a flattop with a good taste.As soon as you come in the door of this little country diner you are greeted by the owner or on of the waitress's.They are very quick with a menu and your drink as soon as your seated.We really love mom and pop places like this.Normally you find good home style cooking and desserts.Benton's has it covered. read more

I love this place. It helps that it's 4min from home, but nonetheless, they have a dynamite breakfast. I can only vouch for the breakfast because that's all I've ever gotten. And with as many times that I've been there, the sweet cook Sylvia will make my eggs and hashbrowns whenever I come in. They have a lunch special everyday and if it's not on the message board by the road, it's definitely listed inside. Good sweet tea and it's always in a styrofoam cup so it's ready to go when you are! They used to have window A/C in the summer and space heaters in the winter. Now with the new owners of the building, central heat and air is in place and it's much more comfortable. Classic country playing on the TV compliments the southern hospitality that you get as soon as you walk in. Only warning is they don't take cards. But there is an ATM inside. This is your typical country restaurant in the middle of nowhere. They are open most days till 3 and they have specials every day. They have a hearty breakfast for less than 5 dollars and I promise you will leave full. There veggies at lunch are delicious also. You can't beat the prices. The wait time can be a bit long if they need to cook your order on the grill. The nice lady behind the grill works steadily but I imagine it is hard to keep up. This place doesn't take debit or credit. ONLY CASH. They do have an atm machine though. This is the perfect place to stop on your travels if you are looking for some reasonable priced down home country cookin. read more

Very charming local restaurant. Great service and the food was very good. I had liver mush that was cooked to perfection. We had grilled biscuits with "butter" on them but it tasted more like margarine. I would definitely go back. If we could all just get rid of the disposable plates and utensils. read more

Great neighborhood place! The breakfast is always good and the burgers are great! They use fresh ground beef, never any frozen meat. The best way to get it ALL THE WAY with their homemade chili. Good food but don't stop if you are in a hurry. It took forever we were there for a solid 45 mins before our food was served. The wait staff were prompt in taking our order and I don't blame the cook I think they may want to invest in a new grill it seemed to cook very slow. read more
