The restaurant is tiny so I call ahead and get my orders to-go. The cashier is sweet and greets everyone w/ a smile upon entering. Portions are good sized; I always have leftovers. My go to here is chicken teriyaki w/ an occasional side order of tempura shrimp. My only complaint is sometimes it isn't piping hot temp wise. Tip, if you're not feeling rice, they place your teriyaki on a bed of shredded cabbage; it's a nice refreshing alternative especially if you order it spicy. I find myself there once or twice a month. The batter was mushy and floating around in the soup, and the tofu skin was disintegrating. The noodles were ok but by the time it arrived too soft. Wanted to get a bento lunch while in Seattle. Read good reviews on Yelp. Decided to try this place. Daughter ordered the special bento combo which included chicken teriyaki, California rolls, rice, gyoza and salad. I had the shrimp tempura plate and ordered the California roll on the side. I'm writing this review because it's long overdue but also because I want to help Bento World. This place is a little 'boîte'/hole-in-the-wall type place where there's only seating for about a dozen people, and most people order take-away. The food is fresh, and isn't instant, so you do have to wait as your entrée is made to-order for you. It's worth the wait. I've never had the sushi but I've had various noodle and rice dishes including their chicken teriyaki and bibimbap. They've all been good, tasted fresh and well prepared, and the lady who serves/cooks/cashiers is fast and friendly, despite the fact that she's the only one I ever see there, making her look like an over-worked army of one. The prices are reasonable (remember, she's paying downtown rent, even if it is a hole-in-the-wall), the portions are generous without being wasteful, and the quality is consistent. Sadly, I went to grab a quick bite on Friday Feb 17th, 2017, and saw that they were closed, and there was a sign on the door: "Dear Bento World Customers, I am sorry to let you know that I won't be able to open the restaurant till the middle of March. I recently got in a car accident and broke my arm. I will be closing the restaurant for about 6 weeks for my recovery and I will be back in business in the middle of March. I am sorry that I have to close the restaurant for such a long time. I really thank you for your understanding and I hope to see you back in March" There was a gentleman who came up to the door just as I was reading the sign and he did the expected 'aw man! I'm starving!!'. But then he expressed surprise that 'Surely she could hire someone!!??' Considering I never saw anyone else working there, I can't imagine upon whom she could have called at, quite literally, the last minute to just take over her livelihood and do so the way she'd want/need it to be done until she's recuperated. So, not only do I recommend this place, but I'm making a point to keep an eye on when it for when it's re-opened. I want to make sure I lunch there as much as possible once she's back so hopefully her life can get back to normal as quickly as possible. My wife and I were staying in Seattle for a few days and one night we got in late and hadn't eaten dinner. We needed something quick, so we found Bento House on Yelp and were amazed to find that it was literally across the street from our hotel. I ordered by phone, and the meal was ready when I got there (less than 10 minutes after I placed the order). When I got back to the room with the order, my wife thought that the knock on the door must be someone else, because I couldn't POSSIBLY have returned in 5 minutes. The food was delicious!! The tuna maki roll was as good as the best sushi restaurants I've ever experienced. My wife's teriyaki chicken dinner was fabulous, there was so much food we saved the rest for lunch the next day. This place is reasonably-priced, fast, and convenient. Next time we're in Seattle, we'll be paying them another visit. read more

I've ordered from here a couple of times now and it was great both times! The first time I had the chicken teriyaki - it was as good as any teriyaki I've had. Second time I got the orange sushi roll, which was a california roll with orange masago. It was great! I'm a little bummed that they don't have edamame. Sorry Bento World... you failed... I've never had teriyaki where they serve it with regular rice (Regular rice meaning the rice u get form chinese restaurants, usually the cheapest kind) and not Japanese Calrose Rice. So that was my first disappointment. IDK how people say this is the BEST teriyaki they've had in Seattle! REALLY? Toshio's, I LOVE Teriyaki, The ones in the mall, to name a few is a lot better than this place. The sauce was not really teriyaki, it was more a starchie sweet/salty sauce... if u're brave and want FRESH and not MICROWAVED meet, try the one on the corner of 1st and pike where a bunch of hoodlum and bums stands around. They're food is okay. Not gonna lie. They serve cooked veggies and salad with the meat/rice. Quite plain and cheap, but a good healthy alternative. Various foods also, from Korean bibimbop to udon to teriyaki to sushi. This is right next to my work so I can understand they get many to go orders from nearby companies. However, they now only take CASH for orders under $10. Which is basically everything, unless you want to buy two meals with your card. And the low rating? The waitress is horrid. The Grand Opening sign has been up for, like, ever. Maybe it's been up since before the place that was there before this, that served fresh roasted turkey dinners with mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce *and* an impressive teriyaki style menu closed (hmm ... may I please have some mashed potatoes with my soba noodles?). Bento World is just forever young. The spicy chicken teriyki served over BROWN rice if you want it is yummy, and comes with steamed, plain cabbage and assorted vegetables. The menu board lists the ever wacky Bee Bim Bab in six varieties, all available with fried egg on top. Lordy. The *soft tofu* with steamed rice and vegetables is just right for a day at the office with stuffy nose and scratchy throat. But. By far. The best thing about Bento World (better than its stone's throw proximity to my desk, its long hours, its permagrandopening sign) is the printed, bold, all caps category on the to-go menu (a category, you know, like TERIYAKI or YAKISOBA or BEE BIM BAB) for LAW & COOKED FISH. I mean, what the heck? Are they messing with me? Are they just the funniest people on the planet? Disgusting - The vegetable yakisoba had NO SAUCE. Salty noodles with steamed veggies is NOT yakisoba. - No hot tea available. - Better get your food to go, as there's limited seating. - Salad that comes with the teriyaki is very simple and not very tasty. Whatever happened to all the teriyaki joints in downtown Seattle! Anyway, I am thrilled that I have found this place. Though I have to walk from Century Square on 4th Ave to Belltown, it gets my circulation going at least! The portions are nice sized and the service is always amazing. Honestly, the only thing I've tried is the Chicken/Beef teriyaki combo, and I always get compliments on how good my food smells when I bring it back to the office. Unfortunately the sushi does not meet expectations- even for a smaller place. We ordered using their online menu and the roll was supposed to contain tuna. They substituted tofu. When we tried to return the roll they insisted that the 'online menu was wrong' and that the 'store menu was right'. They did not offer a refund or replacement over the confusion. If a sushi place thinks that tofu and tuna are interchangeable then you should probably find another place to eat. read more

it's cheap, it's across the street from my office, and the chicken udon hits the spot on these cold days. The owner is such a sweet woman. The noodles in the udon are fat and chewy and oh so satisfying. The only oddity is that every time I order it I find pieces of tempura tofu in with my chicken. Which is fine. I always go here! It's a convenient little location close to my work so I just walk on over and pick myself up a chicken teriyaki. The lady there is so kind, she's always excited to see customers! The teriyaki there is good too. Not too much sauce, always warm and it's a pretty big portion. Only thing I would caution about is the line because they're so popular! The host...she is so friendly and welcoming! My fav dish there is the yakisoba. I spent a year stationed in Okinawa Japan, and this yakisoba reminds me of the great yakisoba I had in Okinawa. I used to work around the corner from this place, and I absolutely loved it! Their prices are great, and the portions are large. The lady behind the counter taking orders is really nice and makes you feel welcomed. She even takes the time to greet you with your name after paying using your debit/credit card and calls your name when your order is ready. I ordered the bento special (4 california roll pieces, chicken teriyaki, a small side of salad, and choice of gyozas, egg roles or 2 shrimp tempura over steamed rice. The portion is on the bigger side for a $12 bento dish, but the food is just mediocre. The chicken was bland, spongy, and not very appetizing. The light teriyaki sauce drizzled on top didn't do any justice to make it taste any better. The ingredient didn't seem fresh. This place is small and only has a total of 13 chairs. Just tried this place for lunch today after a co-worker told me they had bibimbap. Score!! The place is tiny and it was very busy during lunch time, which is a good sign. We waited about 10 mins or more for our order, so if you want to grab it on the go, I suggest calling in ahead of time. Portions were large and all the fixin's were in there, with generous portions of meat, rice, the Korean red sauce, and fresh veggies. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki ($8.25) as-is and to go. The cashier/owner(?) was super friendly and used my name multiple times during the transaction and when my order was ready. The only thing to call out is they put a dressing on the veggies and salad and I cannot eat egg, so I did not eat those at all, kind wasteful, I should have asked. Yuck & Yuck. Now I just ate at this place for the first time yesterday, so I am not expert about it. But my experience compelled me to comment. I got the simple chicken teriyaki to go.
