    Seafood Salad

We came here for a 60th Birthday party on a Sunday afternoon. This place is BYOB and it was pretty empty that day which was nice. We had the thai sweet chili calamari and the seafood salad for appetizers. The calamari was delicious and so tender! Not gummy or chewy at all. For mains, I ordered the skirt steak with broccoli rabe and my husband got the tuna steak with tri color salad. We got our daughter the crab cake platter because she happens to like it. The skirt steak came out sliced already and it wasn't too seasoned but apart from that it was tasty. My husband loved his tuna steak salad. We happened to be in a large party setting but definitely need to come back & try more of the apps!

My clients picked this spot to get lunch. I ordered the shrimp fettuccine with garlic and oil. When I arrived I parked in the plaza lot. I walked in and was greeted by a nice man. I paid and he helped me bring the food to the car. When I ate I didn't particularly care for the minestrone soup because it needed salt but the pasta was really good and flavorful. I had a good experience.

Raw chicken inside a Chicken Milanese sandwich ordered via takeout from Bensi on Berdan on Wednesday 11/20

SAVE YOURSELF. Ordered a chicken milanese sandwich as part of a to-go order with my family. I had half that night and saved the rest for lunch today, Friday 11/22. The piece of chicken on this half was literally raw. And I do not mean that in the millennial slang way; I do mean it was *literally* uncooked inside. Pink and gelatinous and with the breading on the outside browned just enough (for no more than 30 seconds I have to assume) to lull you into a false sense of security. How busy could they have been on a Wednesday night to not take the ten minutes to cook this paper-thin chicken cutlet all the way through? Now I am playing a waiting game to see if I get sick with 6 days until Thanksgiving. And worse? This could have been either of my parents and it could have hospitalized them. We've been getting takeout here for years but we are done for life. Never again.

Mussels with a Vino bianco, herbs and filone toast for the appetizer and the Ricotta Cavatelli (alla mema) with broken meatballs and sausage sugo. Good grief the vino bianco/herb cream sauce on the mussels was incredible! Really! I could not get enough of it. I don't believe we've ever seen mussels on their menu, but man! These were phenomenal! The only complaint would be that there were not enough of the mussels. The ricotta cavatelli was also amazing... as are all of Viaggio's pasta dishes and sauces. Gelato stawberry/maple gelato was maybe the best gelato I've ever had. Not sure if they have this on their 'normal' menu, but if they do, I'm going to need some more. Sadly, once we 'dove' into the food... we forgot to take pictures. :-( Maybe next time! Just go. You won't be disappointed.

Owner's response to a prior review about literal customer abuse witnessed by a nasty owner who…read moreliterally yells at customers and treats diners as if he's doing them a favor by letting them wait for understaffed servers bring overpriced, mediocre Italian food is self-serving, disingenuous and completely out of touch with the reality of how bad their disregard for customers truly is. They do not pride themselves on hospitality, it's more like hostility and indifference. Originally made the point that life is too short to suffer at a place like this, given the wide variety of Italian restaurants in the area with better food, prices, service and most importantly, owners that genuinely treat customers fairly, even (and especially) when the establishment is clearly in the wrong. Read through all the reviews and see the common theme throughout many people's experiences with the same shock at the unregulated anger the owner directs toward a customer that expresses when the slightest problem with food quality, slow service, or overcharging. There was absolutely nothing personal about the original review, and nothing fake - good money was wasted on mediocre food and terrible service on too many occasions with an angry owner, and the review was just an honest assessment of a string of horrible experiences. That's how reviews work - they relate the good as well as the bad elements of an establishment and share these honest reactions with the community. What's truly disheartening is to see the owners attempting to pontificate after the fact that the review is somehow fabricated because they can't accept the reality that they're being called out (as they should be) for mistreating customers disrespectfully in a regular basis. I would never try to speak up in the moment at this place, as we've witnessed the owner literally berating customers and ruining an evening out for even mildly complaining on more occasions than I'd like to remember. At this place, their motto is "the customer is always wrong." It truly took a lot to have to write the original review and now to follow up to the owner's response, because they're anything but receptive to customer feedback. It's truly incredulous that the owner responded in this manner just because they want to promote their business. Smart diners will see through this. So take their advice if you dare, go ahead, make your own decision as they try to suggest, and work up the courage to try it out and ignore this and every other negative review ... but brace yourself, and as it's said, "buyer beware!" Just don't say you haven't been warned.
