I love a good soft pretzel with cheese! This location is inside Meijer near the grocery side exit. It's really a grab and go type of environment. Usually my husband gets it for us so I can't say much about the service but he said that they are pretty nice. The pretzels we have had are always hot, fresh, and tasty. The prices are about $4-5 per pretzel and its quite large. They have a variety of pretzels and dipping sauces. It's good for a snack or even a little lunch if you get the pepperoni one. After a particularly long shopping trip and checkout at Meijer, I needed a snack. Luckily there's a soft pretzel place by the exit. I've never been to a Ben's before but it was pretty good. It's not your typical pretzel, it was softer and sweeter. There are a lot of options and dip varieties. Sweet or savory. I generally just go the classic route when there's too many choices so I went with a plain pretzel with cheese dip. I just read the about us section of their website to learn more and it's a pretty crazy winding story. But the gist is that the founders didn't know anything about pretzels when they bought the business but they figured it out and now have stores all across Indiana. The cashier was visibly annoyed but I couldn't tell if it was with me or if she was talking to someone on the phone with her earbuds in. Since they left the location at 56th & Keystone in the Meijer, getting a pretzel is harder to come by because my choices are: Southport Meijer, Pacer game, or State Fair. Since the last 2 options are seasonal, driving to Southport is a bit of a stretch for a pretzel considering the increase in gas prices and lack of EV charging stations to charge up while I am in Meijer. Side note on the EV charging stations - they are available at Meijer in Columbus, Ohio and I wish they would hurry up and come to Indiana. The employees are nice whenever I visit and usually have hot pretzels when I go which is what I like with extra butter. So I was excited to see the pretzel-making kit that will allow me to make Ben's Soft Pretzels at home. I also grabbed a pretzel for the long drive north to head home since the normal route is now plagued with detours, road closures, or traffic due to the first two situations. I love this place, even if, ah, sometimes it's a bit too much for my tummy. The garlic and Parmesan pretzel is the BEST. Always so soft and delicious - mmmm. It's a 2 to 3 star. Sometimes the pretzels are good... Sometimes they've been sitting for awhile and they are hard and gross. A lot of them will tell you the truth but a few have not and it's very disappointing. I've been offered a free pretzel if it's been sitting there for too long. Soft pretzel joint inside the South side Meijer. I'm not sure pretzels can be messed up, at least not drastically. Stopped by Bens after grocery shopping. Cashier was nice and offered additional items for purchase like a drink or extra dipping sauce. Went with a Bens original jumbo pretzel. Which was semi cold. Food temperature is my only complaint. All the pretzels are salted unless otherwise requested. Small seating area available for a quick bite. They serve Pepsi product. Garlic Parmesan dip is probably the best dipping sauce but they do offer a wide variety from savory to sweet. Parking is readily available but you have to compete with those going into Meijer. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I ordered online because I had a large order. Went into pick it up and they told me they gave it away to someone because it was the only pickup order they had. They refused to make the order even though they messed up and gave away our order to someone else. The workers kept changing their story about it was given away. The manager there said they couldn't remake it because there were people that actually paid that have ordered. The workers laughed at us when we wanted a refund. I would love to say the food was good but I have no way of knowing if it actually was. Overall horrible service and I won't be going back. read more

Ordered a "Stay Home" Soft Pretzel kit. They also have cinnamon roll kits. The kit came with everything. Pre-packaged in the right amounts and clearly marked. Special flour mix, yeast, baking soda, coarse salt, and cinnamon sugar. In a very cute recyclable burlap bag. On the bottom of the box is a coupon for 50% off your next order. Included were really easy to follow instructions. And tips. It was shipped overnight. There's also different locations where you can arrange to pick up. The kit came with two bags. Each bag makes six huge pretzels or eight medium or 10 to 12 small or you can make several dozen pretzel bites. Or mix and match shapes and sizes. I also participate in a free zoom hosted class. And there are videos online. Very patient, knowledgeable thorough Teacher. Easier to make then I thought. I was very impressed with the kit and the quality of the products. Everyone of all ages really enjoyed. Everyone's turned out very well. The house smells so good. Took me a while to figure out how to shape them. Which is obvious in the photos. (but I have to say I love the little chubby ones with the condensed dough). Once I slowed down and paid attention and listened I knew the amount of dough to use and for this left-handed baking challenged person once a I laid the dough down instead of trying to flip it in the air like the pro I got the hang of it. It was so fun. And the pretzels are just delicious. Best pretzels I've ever had. They can be frozen before or after baking. And keep in airtight container a while. Such a great local business with the most delightful owners and staff. I highly recommend you order a pretzel kit today for your family and play it forward and order for another family. Does it feel weird to write a review of a pretzel place inside of a Meijer? Of course it does. But I find myself often going out of my way to hit this place up, so it is about time I spread the gospel of Ben's pretzels. They have ruined all other pretzels for me and my boyfriend. Baseball park pretzels? Sheer garbage compared to the golden standard of pretzels, Ben's. Sure, maybe one time our pretzel was a little too well done, but overall they can't be beat and the employees are generally pleasant. They typically have an array of options: jumbo pretzel, pretzel sticks, pepperoni or jalapeño jumbo, pretzel bites. And apparently they just started offering pizzas. And? What else? Mountain Dew! As if I didn't like this place enough. There are only basically two places to sit, but it's not like you'll be hanging out for long. Give it a shot sometime. Ben's pretzels are always a pleasure to have. This is the second time I went to this particular location and they were out of the jumbo pretzels. The first time, I couldn't complain, for I took the last three . However, this time, I wasn't so blessed. Instead of waiting 10 minutes for a fresh pretzel I tried the bites. They weren't bad, and were pretty comparable in taste to the jumbo pretzels. If you have the time to wait, they are definitely worth the wait! Best soft pretzels that I've had in years! Not too salty with a buttery taste, and not too dry (unlike some other soft pretzels I've had). They have a variety of toppings and dips to go with the pretzels. I did their Thursday special (3 pretzels for $10) and used the freebie I got for downloading their app so my wife and I could try out a variety of toppings and dips. It was awesome! I'm ruined for all other pretzel places. I'll have to go back and try their pretzel dogs and pretzel pockets sometime. I love these pretzels. They are huge and soft & billowy like really poofy bread. I like chewy ones too, dont get me wrong. But these are special & worth a special trip. I would not visit Meijer as often if not for the pretzels. Garlic ones are so good Ive never tried the others. read more
