I approached the counter to find two employees leaning on the countertop who couldn't be bothered to even acknowledge my existence. When I finally tried to order, I was met with a blunt 'you can't have that, it's not available,' followed by a dismissive 'Is that it?' as the only other words spoken. If you don't want to work a morning shift, don't take a job that serves breakfast at an airport. While the sandwich itself wasn't terrible, the absolute lack of professionalism and basic courtesy ensures I'll never return. I love the absolute fuck out of their pretzels. I love pretzels baseline so I do feel qualified to have an opinion about them. I've had the Pennsylvania ones, the Germany ones, the homemade ones and literally nothing compares to Ben's. Having said that, this place was a bit disorganized. They didn't have probably half of the menu which wasn't big to begin with. I got the most basic shit: a pretzel with the only 2 sauces they had regular mustard and nacho cheese. Explain to me how you can be out of pretzels for more than an hour? There's 4 piles of dough ready, just sitting on the counter. I camped out on the side with the windows so I could see when the pretzels would be ready. Every single time someone stopped in she'd say "It's going to be at least 30 more minutes." There are no pretzel dogs or specialty pretzels being made. The only dipping sauce available was nacho cheese. If you really don't have all the necessary ingredients, why have them on the menu? You're setting your staff up for failure, and upset customers, if that's the case. I was so looking forward to trying the breakfast pretzel sandwiches at Ben's. The sandwiches are premade and wrapped. The $7 egg sandwich that I received was burned. I returned and asked if all the sandwiches were burned and the clerk told me, "The oven gets hot, it's not burned, it's just brown." It was pretty evident that she wasn't going to replace the brick nugget that I received. So, I tried the sandwich. The egg and roll were burned and dry. A Ben's soft pretzel is my favorite pretzel. I'm so happy that the Indianapolis Airport has a Ben's now (located in Concourse B), because it's a Hoosier favorite, and everyone passing through Indy needs to taste one. I was recently at IND because I was flying out, so I trotted on over to Ben's to get me a pretzel. But when I arrived, there were none to be had! Literally, the cupboards were bare. I had to wait about 45 minutes while they made them and baked them. It was around 4 p.m., which is prime pretzel time, so it's unfortunate that they didn't have a steady supply of pretzels coming out of the oven. And when they did have pretzels, there were only original pretzels, not any of the fancy ones. Which was fine by me, because I just wanted an original pretzel anyway. An original pretzel is only six bucks and change, which I think is a deal considering how frigging great and huge these pretzels are. read more

I ordered a bacon, egg, cheese. The bacon was raw and the pretzel bread had no flavor. I took it back and they made a fresh one. I asked for crispy bacon but it is a premade sandwich that they throw in a toaster oven. They left it in longer in an attempt to cook the bacon but it just burnt the bread. I ate it because I'm traveling at the airport but it wasn't tasty at all. In fact, the bread they use for the pretzels and buns are the same but not what I think of as typical pretzel bread. If you're a soft pretzel fan but you haven't tried Ben's yet... you need to get on that! It's based on an Amish recipe and began in Elkhart, Indiana. I can't think of a better airport snack before a flight snooze and much needed vacation. I'm so glad there is a location in the Indy airport! When I went, a health inspector on a power trip happened to show up and started razzing the young adults working -- a bit too harshly/condescendingly in my opinion, to the point it was incredibly distracting as a customer and was clearly making the staff nervous. This was of course not the fault of the employees so I really felt for them as this stranger was pestering them about the paper towels being out at one of the sinks... not a huge deal in my opinion but he seemed like he would have put them all in timeouts if he could have... A Ben's pretzel ALWAYS slaps. It is the perfect airport pre-adventure snack. This location seems to always be out of pretzels and the customer service is a little lacking (though I totally understand that it is a tough gig in the food service industry). I waited 30 minutes to get a pretzel and sat by the window waiting for the SECOND those babies hit the floor. We stopped by around 4:45 PM and there was one lady working who informed us when we walked towards the counter that it was gonna be a little bit. She was standing at the side counter working some dough so we assumed she would finish what she was doing and then come help us. There were no pretzels at the counter, so we figured she would take our order and make it fresh. But after waiting over five minutes, we left and ended up coming back two different times while she was still working the dough and turning away customers. At one point, I stood there with two other customers thinking maybe she would stop trying to build up inventory and at least take our order and make what we would like then finish making other pretzels to have on hand, but she stopped what she was doing and went behind the door to make a call. I overheard her with who I am assuming another coworker or manager and she was saying how she was trying to call someone else in, but she wasn't answering. That's all fine and good, but she lost at least six customers that I know of because we all walked away. It was after 5 PM and there was no pretzels made. It's common sense to go ahead and take your customers order and make what they want and then build up your inventory, but she did not really acknowledge most other customers besides saying it would be a while. Even when we got to our gate to get on our airplane, one of the airline workers made a remark to us about how she was so mad because she waited over 40 minutes and never got waited on too. This was my first experience with Ben's pretzels. I'd equate it to auntie Anne's but improved upon. I had the nacho sauce and it had good flavor and more kick than their competitor. I was excited to see a Ben's pretzel at the airport. They make amazing pretzels. Except when I ordered one they were out. No butter to bake them. The gal waiting on me acted like it was a chore to answer any questions. I came back an hour or so later and she again reluctantly told me they would have them in 20 minutes. I waited. Got one fresh out of the oven. I asked for their famous beer cheese and she informed me that they didn't have any cheese. Of the 6 or 7 dipping sauces they only had a couple. Happy to see this addition to the airport. We needed a quick snack before our flight and the Pretzel bites with cheese hit the spot. The bread was both tender and buttery with a crisp outer edge. I never heard of Ben's Pretzels until I came to Indy airport today 9/12/24. The pretzel is huge and heavy. It has to weigh a pound! LOL It was also very fresh. The critical part is that the worker was very enthusiastic and friendly. The only minus is they only had the regular salted pretzels and no other kind and no pretzel bites. Quick stop at IND - Ben's truly has the best pretzels!! At the time of my stop, they had classic pretzels, pretzel bites, jalepeño cheddar pretzels, and pretzel dogs. One day I'll get one of their takeaway kits to make pretzels at home! Staff are always super friendly too and prices pretty reasonable for the airport. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. I am a big pretzel eater and not originally from Indianapolis but when I saw Ben's soft pretzels in the airport right next to my gate I knew I had to try it. IT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT!!! I have never had a pretzel this soft and scrumptious. I felt like I was eating a cloud. So soft! The workers were also super nice and they brought my pretzel out within seconds of ordering. On top of this, they served me a pretzel from the tray that had just been taken out of the oven a few costumers before me, so I had no doubt it was fresh. Yuck!! Ordered a cinnamon soft pretzel, the clerk took a stale, pre-salted pretzel from the case and hopped some oil of some sort in it and shook a few shake of cinnamon and sugar. Tasted, old, salty and sweet, although there was virtually hardly any sweet. One bite and it hit the trash. read more
