The seafood was very delicious, and the waiter who served us was very polite and nice. It was a wonderful experience to spend less than $40 for a seriously AMAZING seafood feast. Just awful. Service slow. Server had no idea how many claws were in a lb. food served in plastic bag and , you had to wear gloves to eat. 1 king crab leg per order, hard to crack to get meat. This place is a little diamond in the rough. From the outside it looks like a catering hall but inside it's nice nothing too fancy but has character . There is a bar with jazz usually playing in the background. The prices are around 18 dollars for crabs you can chose what seasoning you want.I'll deff be back again . We went to this place that was recommended by my niece to celebrate my birthday my daughter call I ahead to make sure they had a table for 8 available. It was very spacious inside the waiter was very nice he explain the menu it's all seafood . So if you're looking for chicken, steak, salmon or any other type of meat besides seafood this is not the place. we went on to ordered crab king crab shrimp , crawfish it came with potato and corn and the sauce that it came with in a bag witch to our surprise came in a plastic bag , the waiter gave us gloves and bibs. Called at 5 pm on Mother's Day to find out if we needed reservation. The phone was answered the third time and we were told walk ins only. Not accepting reservations. Okay, we drive up a half hour later and the person at the front desk tells us reservations only, and would not allow us to even make one ! Came here to celebrate a family members birthday. It was on a Sunday for "brunch" but the menu was the regular menu. Wasn't really a brunch basically. Anyway, I ordered the crab legs and crawfish in old bay seasoning and it was so good!! Ended up ordering just crab legs again. I don't drink but the bar was FLOWING, mimosas and all different types of drinks I saw being made. So it's safe to say it was good, right? The overall vibe during that time was nice. Just returned from Bens Crabs. Raw oysters were good. (Not served with crackers) Gumbo was. Very tasty. My wife had the Lobster Roll $18 Not much lobster and not many fries. It was tasty but skimpy for the price. The shrimp and craw daddies combo was excellent and the garlic butter sauce was flavorful. The free pound of shrimp that came with dinner was a bonus and we took it home. House wine for $8 and Hurricane for $10 were ok but at 5 pm most restaurants have some type of a happy hour, this place does not. Waiter was attentive. If you don't eat this type of food there is little on the menu for you. If you do then definitely give this place a try. read more

I went there with some family friends and I wish we went somewhere else. First of all the tables were WAY TOO CLOSE TOGETHER considering there is a global pandemic. Nothing seemed sanitary. Once we were seated I couldn't even have a conversation with my friend next to me let alone the whole table because of the awful and VERY loud rap music playing, (if your going to play rap music that load make sure it's good). We politely asked our waitress to turn down the music, and once she did someone turned it back up. We asked again, but then we were rudely greeted by the manager who claims that "people come here for the music". It was a Tuesday night (BEFORE 7:00) and most of the guests were under the age of 5, so I hardly believe that. After asking to move FOUR TIMES, we were finally seated outside. No one wiped down the table or anything. I ordered the cajun fries (which I actually enjoyed) and the chicken parm with garlic noodles. I was expecting the dish to be garlicy, but it was drowning in garlic and just tasted awful. My friends were sort of pleased with their crabs (mainly because it was a large portion), but overall not a good experience, and I went home STARVING. read more

We (my friends and i) all ordered different sauces cos we wanted to know which one is the best. So we ordered two with garlic sauce, two with Cajun sauce with different level of spiciness. I love the garlic butter sauce but on the side note, the Cajun sauce was really good too! My friend even liked this one better. Overall, i would definitely come back. He served us the right clams with all the trimmings. Must try this place if you like to get down and saucy with your hands.(gloves & bib included). Don't stop, just keep driving. I stopped at Ben's Crab because it received 4 stars on Yelp. I rarely write negative reviews, but I have to because I just spent $108 on mediocre food and mediocre service. First, there are plenty of seafood restaurants along Long Beach Road that serve FRESH seafood. Our server said the only fresh seafood on the menu was the Dungeness crab and the whole lobster. Everything else is frozen. I appreciate his honesty. The New England Clam Chowder was terrible. It was too sweet and there were no chunks of potatoes and barely any clams. The fried calamari was overcooked and too oily. The coating wasn't at all crispy, in fact it was mushy and was falling off the squid. The oil had a disgusting aftertaste. I suspect the oil hasn't been changed in quite some time. We each had one piece and did not touch the rest of the calamari. My sister had the Dungeness crab and while it was actually tasty, it was drenched in butter. This is something that our server did not mention to us. She had ordered it with Old Bay seasoning and when it arrived, the fresh $35 Dungeness crab was floating in butter. What a pity. The only reason I am giving Ben's Crab one star is because I have to in order to post this review. read more

Very interesting restaurant. My family and I walk in expecting it to look like a seafood restaurant but it looks like and Asian restaurant. We were seated instantly. Menu was easy. Not too many dishes. After we all ordered, the food came out in an average time. My food took about 10 minutes to come out after my whole family already had their food. Overall, the food was great. They have some very interesting options. The lb of shrimp came out in a bag (very hot). If you get Ben's Cajun sauce, just know that mild is very spicy. Great experience for a family on vacation. I went on a week day when it wasn't really full for my cousins birthday. They're really nice here, they get full often, and a lot of people stay a little past close as to what I say, they don't seem to mind it when we had to use the bathroom near closing time. They clean early, and as soon as we left so did everyone, they got out early and greeted us bye! The crab legs were really good, I love their lobster sauce. It can be a little messy that is why they give you gloves, and a bib. I still managed to get some sauce on my clothing garments but it's okay, I'd say take a tide pen, and bring some good tip money cause this service is amazing! and they play some good music. They serve your meal inside of a plastic bag & instead of on a plate. What a joke. Horrible presentation & tasteless. My date paid for the bill & left a tip. As we were leaving, our server told my date that he only left a $1 tip on a $100 meal. My date seemed confused & told her no he didn't and to check again, since she still had the payment in her hands. She then recounted the money & saw the tip and apologized.
