Great time at Benihana for my boyfriends cousin birthday. We arrived on time however our table was not ready. We congregated at the bar and drank a bit before being seated. Weird seating for our party size. 2 separated tables and it was difficult to socialize amongst the two tables considering space apart, and chefs at the tables. The food was great. I had the 5 course grilled salmon meal. The piece of salmon was small for my preference. Also, the sequence of my courses arriving was a little out of whack. I assumed my Udon noodles would come with my dish. None-the less the meal was tasty. We even tried our favorite Ngori Sake. This time we had Tyku infused coconut. Give it a try. Our waiter and chef were awesome too. I also enjoyed the rainbow ice cream after my meal. Delicious. read more

I Came in here with my thickened water that my doctor recommended due to the fact I cannot drink thinner liquids. The host that took my number down at the door came up to me & told me I might not be able to bring that drink in here so I told her I understood and I would not drink it. The manager and herself began to just stand around the restaurant & watch me the whole time to see if I would take a sip of the water. This is the craziest thing I have ever seen and I couldn't even eat due to the fact I know these two weirdos are staring at me! One guy was a manager & I'd think he know better. I come here at least 3 times a month but I'll never be back here again. Horrible service!!!!! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME! read more

We arrived after working a long day (14 hours) and had a reservation for 715 pm. We were then seated behind the party ahead of us an hour later than our reservation (813pm) the food may be good but the experience is absolutely ruined and tainted by what happened before we had been seated. We could see the table we were sat at ready 30 minutes before from outside. We will not be coming back. read more

Yikes... wish I checked yelp prior to eating here. For a $30 five-course meal you would think you were getting something special. Turns out the five-courses is just an excuse to charge a high amount for a meager salad that any take-out restaurant will offer, along with tasteless meats and soggy veggies. Not sure if every Benihana's is like this but Corporate better fix these issues soon or it's bye bye Beni. I will add that I did not get sick and the food filled me up so there's that. read more

On Sunday, January 28th, we waited about 30 minutes to be seated. We seat, asked for drinks, chatting and waiting for the server to take our food order. I see a ROACH walking around on my plate!!!! Grossed out I called a server... there were 2 couples seating with us; We all got up and left!!! I'm sooo disappointed as I loved the food here! I called the restaurant the next day to point out that for the $$$price they charge management should be more in control of their sanitation. An employee took my name and # for the manager to return my call. It's been a week and I never got that call. Horrible experience!! I love to eat out and go to restaurants all the time, but this is my first time ever seeing this happen !! Unacceptable !!! read more

Best Chinese restaurant. Great food and service. Always on point and fresh food everything

Bad service. Closes at 11 on a Friday night !! We had gone there at around 10pm yesterday. 20 min wait outside, 15 min wait at the table for some one to take order. Order arrived late, wrong order was delivered which they fixed upon pointing out. Of the main 6 course meal ordered, soup and salad were out of stock, but I ended up paying for the full meal !! But the sake and the food were really good ! read more

Came in on a Monday evening, thinking it wouldn't be too busy. Service and food were unacceptable. I ordered the steak and scallop combo. The steak was cooked to my liking, but there was no seasoning to be found. The scallops were the worst scallops I've EVER had. I watched them overcook right in front of me. I wanted to jump up, knock the chef out of the way, and save them. Alas, I did not. I tried to eat them, but I couldn't. They were awful. For the prices they charge, and the crowds they draw, you'd think they could do better. It's worth noting that the menu prices only include plain white rice, made in the kitchen. If you want fried rice that is finished on the flat-top, that is extra money. The kicker was the waitress explaining to us that all of the delays during our meal were due to kitchen back ups, and had nothing to do with her performance. This was my one and only experience at this place. I've had much better hibachi meals elsewhere. I'm getting off of their mailing list right now. I'm done. read more

Our entire table cleaned their plates clean. Filipe was our cook and it was the best hibachi we ever had. Everything was cooked to perfection. We all will be back. Ask for Filipe you won't be disappointed! read more

Came here for date night it was a little packed but that didn't stop my server Bryce from giving excellent service I told him about my shellfish allergy and he 100% complied will definitely be coming back read more

I loved this place. The front that got my family our seats, the guy who was cooking who i give so much credit for was Arturo, did an amazing job! The cooking, the talks, i loved it all. This was my first time coming and i would definitely come again. It was a lil overpriced, but nevertheless, this restaurant and service, brought smiles on my end! It was so good, i felt the need to come on here and make a review. Glad to say this became my first! read more

I had the best service today by a bartender name Ozzie not only was his service great ,He made me the best cocktail, I'll be coming back for sure just to sit at his bar. read more

First and foremost , Ozzie was amazing! I came in for just a drink and a quick bite. My go to drink is a margarita and I'm very critical about how it's made. Ozzie made it perfectly! My food came out delicious as well. He was extremely friendly and funny. 10/10 service! read more

Went to benihanas to celebrate my 2 year anniversary with my wife. The bar was so packed & busy but the bartender Ozzie made us feel very welcomed & never did we feel ignored. The prices could of been a little lower but honestly definitely worth the money. The vibe was great, the food was delicious & the drinks were amazing. I'm definitely returning again & will be asking for Ozzie ! Check this place out if you are in the Edison area ! read more

Ozzie was great. Although he was overwhelmed because it was busy he was still polite and attentive.

Met with a friend for dinner on a Thursday night and we got seated right away for hibachi. The waiter took a while to come over and he really didn't seem that interested to be there. It's not like your traditional hibachi restaurant where you get two proteins for the price of one. You get one choice of meat for around $23 and white rice. If you want fried rice or noodles it's $4 extra. You also get a mediocre salad and soup. They finish off the entree with a ton of onions, vegetables and a few small shrimp. The food is so bland and has no real flavor whatsoever but they do use a ton of garlic butter. The tempura banana and ice cream that I had was also a flop. The tempura batter tasted like nothing and the bananas were brown. I personally like U-YEE sushi and hibachi in Woodbridge better. The food actually has FLAVOR and you get more for your money. I was also disappointed that they didn't have yum yum sauce! This was my first time to Benihana's in years and now I remember why I haven't been back all this time. Never again!!!! read more

Was a little worried seeing this only had 2 1/2 stars but like Benihana so I went. We were seated promptly and service was quick and very good. Ordered the splash and meadow and land and sea. Both of our filets were great and cooked perfectly. The shrimp was ok but the scallops were delicious. The fried rice was amazing and love the ginger sauce put on top (you have to ask for that). The 2 sauces you get are the mustard and ginger sauce. I could literally drink the ginger sauce it is amazing. I don't care for the mustard sauce but I don't like mustard. Julio was our chef and he was great! Will definitely come back to this location. read more

Average at best. Food lukewarm and brought on delay to our table due to not being able to sit near Hibachi.

Bridgett service was amazing ! Please keep her around a lot more 10/28/2022 I loved the experience

Always good. I started going to Benihana in New York years ago and I have never been disappointed with the quality, price, service, and atmosphere. Benihana is a great place for any celebration for the young and young at heart. read more

very very disappointed. We went here to celebrate my son's birthday.. and we told them specifically what we cant eat. The chef came and started preparing food without asking anything and when we said well we told the server that we cant have certain things, he said ok then everything will be prepared in the kitchen. So basically we had fried rice at very costly rate. When we talked with the manager he was VERY RUDE and didnt want to listen anything what we had to say... NEVER AGAIN. we LOVE Arirang on rt 9. read more

First , I would like to say This is one of my favorite restaurants. I decided to go for my bday with my husband. We sat at the table with 5 other ppl. This day had to be the worst that I've experienced at a restaurant. The chef started to cook and an 8 leg INSECT started to run cross the grill! I was mortified that my mouth couldn't take another bite! He continued to cook so I got up and asked to speak to the manager. He came out and I spoke to him thinking he would at least come to the table and apologize and tell everyone that the bill was on the restaurant which would have the ideal thing to do but he took $30 off my bill which I thought was insult bcaz if you ever been to Benihana, you not leaving without paying $150 or more! Just beware of this Benihana In Edison Nj! This establishment needs more training in how to treat their customers when incidents like this arise! read more

Update- the Manager Steve professionally contacted me and apologized for the issue, which was greatly appreciated. He assured me that our next visit we would get their best cook. Wow! Our first time experience there just turned into our LAST. I wanted to write this review as soon as we left. We never got our appetizers, I had asked for white rice with my meal, only for it to come until after I was done eatting the Hibachi dinner. Waitress never brought refills, cups stayed empty for a while. Will be going to Arrirang next time, the cooks there at least make the experience fun. read more

We had a great time there. Michael was our server and he did a good job with everything. I would come back next time I'm in town.

My daughter and son in law brought me to Benihana Edison tonight for my birthday. The service was wonderful and Rubin our chef was talented and most personable. He paid special attention to the needs of my grandchildren which was much appreciated. Delicious food and have to say our server was great but I'm so sorry cannot recall her name. They were a team for our table and I made mention of how great they both were. I hope it can be figured out who she was. Thank you for making my birthday special. read more

Worst service ever. With a reservation they sat us down 30 minutes late and after 45 minutes we were finally served our drinks and cold soup. After speaking to the managers 3 times we received no better response than 'we are working on it'. An awful experience for our 12 year old birthday girl and two babies who were so tired. We were served drinks and soups 30 minutes after we sat at the table and the chef finally came out 45 minutes later. At that point it was well past 9 pm and we only had rice and some zucchini on our plate (picture attached). They are completely under staffed and incompetent. And I'm updating this review to say that after numerous attempts to gain the managers attention he just replied with 'well I'm here now at your table' while the chef was totally mute and did nothing except grill food in front of us. They all just looked awkwardly at us until we decided to simply leave. This was beyond terrible. read more

Great service every time I go. Can sometimes be very packed but the service and communication is amazing and the food is delicious each time! read more

My experience here is always awesome ! From the chefs down to the service is great ! But for some reason the host lately has been very rude . I was ordering take out of chicken fried rice & wanted two-three teriyaki mini sauce containers for my rice . They try to charge me 4 dollars for a pint of teriyaki sauce even though I only wanted two - three little to go sauces . I thought that was over the top especially if I wasn't getting the packaged container as a pint & being served little to go cups for the sauce. So I asked him can I at least have two little sauce containers instead of three. He got nasty with me & said to me "only one per order" & rolled his eyes . I was displeased. He could have properly & politely explained over the phone & again to me in person about the way they charge for sauce & I would have been content . Every time I've ordered take out there I have never had any trouble until that night . The host Ian E. was very out of order . To avoid further trouble I left without my amazing chicken fried rice with Teriyaki sauce . The host needs to be more self explanatory & the restaurant needs to make that clear . I love this place & honestly do not want to go elsewhere . Please get your staff & food cost problems together . read more

We would like to compliment Bridget, waitress at Edison Benihana. She is one of the best waitress we ever had. You didn't have to ask her for anything. And when you ask for something like extra mustard, she brings you two. Very sweet and attentive. We go to Benihana's at least 4-5 times a month. Love the food and the service. Also the managers are great also. read more

Came here on Saturday, the 28th for my birthday around 8. It was packed as every other restaurant on a Saturday was. I gave the hostess my name for 2 people she told me an hour and 20 minute wait but she asked that I stay in the waiting area...but once I heard 1 hour & 20 minutes, I automatically thought I have time to go to the mall. I walked the mall for an hour came back and was told they called my name and that I shouldve waited in the waiting area lol oops. She said one other person was in front of me and I would be next do not leave again lol...we waited 5 minutes and were seated with others who were also celebrating birthday's. The bar service was very slow! The waitress had many tables she was bouncing everywhere, she did the best should could waiting on us...we were not a needy bunch. The hibachi chef was good very entertaining. The food was good I would return again. read more

MORE FIRE! MORE FIRE ! MORE FIRE! I love coming to Benihana's, point blank period. And the best time to go is on a Saturday for their lunch menu TRUST ME ! At full price it's just not worth it. The only thing I don't like is that doing hibachi they don't seat you until they can fill a table so bring like 5 or 6 people when you go to avoid being sat with people who are BORING. Sometimes you end up with cool people most of the time you don't. And I hate to say it but you have some people who are uncomfortable sitting with you because of the color of your skin. It's hurts me but in 2017 that's where we are. But still that doesn't take away from how awesome the food is. The chefs are so animated I LOVE IT. This is the only time I'm ok with someone playing with my food lmao. They really entertain you. I always get the same thing is that BAD ?! I get the beef julienne , with shrimp or scallops , the yokasoba noodles. Vegetable tempura. sushi. And of course a drink. I never eat all my food I always have leftovers. read more
