    Hibachi - Chicken and Beef
    Timothy Spencer T.

TLDR: It's a nice restaurant with a menu that someone who says, "I want Japanese food, but I don't know what exactly I want." will love. The pitfall of this place, I think, stems from the fact that it doesn't really master anything but is good in a lot of things. Nigiris: They were good but it just didn't pop out in a special way. The fish looked and tasted relatively fresh, and the rice mixture offered a nice compliment per bite. I just don't remember loving the food while eating. Rolls: Same with the nigiri. Creative, colorful, and flavorful. I found it funny that almost every single item on the roll menu had the word "spicy" on it, but I don't remember any of the rolls we ate being spicy except for maybe one. It's fine to good. Hibachi: TRUST IN THE BUTTER. This is often the mantra when chefs cook teppanyaki style and this place is no different. Were the proteins of chicken, beef, and salmon good? Yes. Was the fried rice good? Yes. Was butter the MVP of this plate? Without a sliver of a doubt. Having said that, I'd eat this again. Miso soup: It's miso soup. I don't know what else to say. It helps get the food down and it's not too salty. Service: Our group of 7 were taken care of nicely even at a slightly busy dinner rush. The kitchen was able to handle our orders in a timely manner and I'm happy about that. Ambiance: A small to medium-sized mom and pop shop that seats 30-40 people. You get all the ornaments and design themes of Japan within the establishment along with the correctly themed background music.

This cute local sushi restaurant, knows what they are doing. The food was fresh and tasty . Our waitress recommended some amazing choices, she was attentive and even gave us a sample of another item on the menu, that didn't disappoint!! I'll see you there soon.

Great food and great service! Came here for dinner and the staff immediately greeted us. Very welcoming atmosphere. There were so many options on the menu, no matter what you get you can't go wrong. They gave us a roll to try as we waited for our order and pineapple after our meal. It's things like these that made our experience here even better. Definitely a new favorite spot for me!

Amazing sushi! Everything was really fresh and absolutely delicious. The crispy skin salad was amazing, I've never had anything like it before. Rolls were loaded with toppings and perfectly rolled. Service was prompt and very nice. Would definitely go back and try the other things on the menu.

We came here because I was having a craving for miso nasu (miso eggplant) but it turned out the menu photo was from an old menu and they don't have it anymore. . I'm still glad we came, though. The place is small but friendly. We ordered the sushi combination for 2. It came with soup or salad and we both opted for soup. They also brought us a complimentary sample of "sexy jalapeño" appetizer. Something I wouldn't have thought of ordering but enjoyed. The sushi was served in one of those big boat platters. Among the fish was one called madai. I googled it and found that it's a type of sea bream/porgy. It had a mango salsa on top. Delicious! Everything was very fresh and tasty. Even though I didn't satisfy my eggplant craving this time, I would still come back.

Kanpachi Sushi has a rating of 4.9 in Yelp. Let's go! Located on a corner, the smallish interior is modern with dark tiled floor and dark accents of wood. Ordered was the lunch Sashimi and a lunch Sushi Sashimi Combination. Miso soup and a side salad are included for each entree. The soup and salad were good. The fish is fresh. The sashimi pieces were firm, odorless and neutral in taste. Service was friendly, prompt and attentive. At the price point and the area....Kanpachi Sushi wear that 4.9 LOUD & PROUD!!! Notes: * Street parking, no parking lot. * Gender neutral restroom. * Bar and table seating available.

The reviews completely make sense -- i came here for lunch and the lunch specials were very affordable (3 rolls for $16 with miso soup and salad). All the fish was very fresh -- the most amazing dish was the salmon teriyaki bento box. The fish that they use is sushi grade and just melts in your mouth. Service was very good, it is a small place so not sure how busy it could get on a weekend evening. I will be back!

We may have just found the best quality sushi in Middlesex County. The American take on sushi is normally fried, stacked and sauced. And oftentimes, most places fail to focus on the quality of the seafood itself. It's safe to say Kanpachi does the cuisine some justice. You can taste the quality in every plate, and the raw fish itself is the main event. Having this level of umami really does make a difference. This sets the bar high for our family going forward!

Update - Mother's Day Dinner May 14, 2023 We celebrated Mother's Day here with friends and family dinner. We ordered grills rolls, pepper tuna, sashimi de luxe and soft shell crab. All our orders are freshly made and delicious. Serving staff is attentive and helpful.

Loved this place. Another place close to my house that I've overlooked. I am always at places right near this place, & legit never noticed it. Glad my friend invited me. It's a small space, but very bright & open feeling. There is street parking, as well as parking around back. It is a BYOB location, but there is a liquor store about 3 minutes up the street. The staff was friendly & courteous, & we even got a complimentary small appetizer each. Don't even know what it was but it was soooo good. Definitely some variation to peppered tuna. My friend had the Heaven Roll, which I tried a piece of, very good. He recommends it. I had the Crustation Roll (that's how they spell it) which was my All-Star roll of the day. My friend tried that one in exchange for the Heaven Roll piece. He ended up ordering a whole roll for himself. I also had the Starlight Roll, also VERY good, but was definitely the runner up to the "Crustation." I actually ended with an appetizer, had the Kani Salad at the end. Very good! One of my faves in the area when compared to other nearby locations. Will definitely be back!

Menu is authentic as can be although they do have some American style rolls for the American taste. But stick to traditional Japanese food. The fish was fresh as can be. Maybe quality isn't as good as the top omakase places in NYC but still very good. Make sure you check out the specials behind the sushi counter. Inside is clean as it should be for a sushi place. The booth tables had too much space between the table and the seats. Service was nice but there was one lady for the whole restaurant and it was sometimes hard to get her attention. The decor is unique and it honestly felt like I was teleported to Japan itself. Our sushi chef was Yoshi and he was professional, informative, and kind. I can't remember our waiters name but he was always attentive and checking in if we needed anything. Can I just say the variety in both cooked and raw dishes in this omakase experience is the largest I've ever come across. Out of the cooked appetizers I loved the turban snail and the foie gras. Out of the raw appetizers my favorite was the array of sashimi in a light lemon sauce. The scallop and octopus were fresh and buttery. I did not expect the amount of food we received, not to mention at the end of the meal there is also soba noodles! I absolutely loved that one of the dishes was tempura soft shell crab. My husband enjoyed everything but was very full and could not finish his sushi. Yoshi allowed us to pack it to go which was very thoughtful. I'm pretty sure we will be coming back here to celebrate any birthdays and anniversarys with the omakase experience.

It's wrapped in a scallion pancake/parotta type bread. The yellowtail jalapeno was amazing!! Melt in your mouth and packed with flavor! For the price you can't beat it. The usuzukuri was also very good, lighter in flavor though. For rolls we ordered a ton: Out of Control Roll, Spicy Grill Roll, Flying Dragon Roll, Foxy Lady Roll, White Geisha Roll and the Tuna Amazing Roll. All of them were spectacular! We definitely could have eaten more (there were 5 adults). Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and you got a ton of fish in the rolls.
