This was my first time here. Our waitress Cameo, was phenomenal. We have a7 year old and a 17 month old, and she really catered to them. It's always so nice when people are nice to your kids. We definitely felt welcomed by her and our cook. The cook was very entertaining, and friendly. I got the New York whatever it was lol. It was cooked perfect, and very tasty. The rice was delicious too. They gave me shrimp as a bonus, and my son a free ice cream. Before or meal came, they gave him some oranges and cherries to keep him busy. They were very thoughtful, and the food was good. We will be returning! read more

The hour wait was worth it! Cameo our server was the best server I ever had at Benihana! I've been going here for about five years and at least once a month. Edward our chef made our food just perfect!!! When you come here, request Edward as your chef. read more

I literally have never written a review for anything in my life. What a sorry ass Resturant. We caught a flat on my sons birthday in our family's first limo 2 mins away. After calling and arriving 10 mins late they told us there was nothing else they could do for us. Bad management, guy called me bro the whole time and wasn't even apologetic. read more

Rushed out to the Dearborn Michigan Benihana location to dine with my cousin for her birthday. Knew I was coming but had to tend to my children first (prior appts already made), so would be a little late. Anyhow, I asked if my place could be held and my meal at least ordered so I wouldn't hold anything up, but could join once I got there. That was not doable and was understood. Once I arrived, orders had been placed but not yet prepared. The server would not allow me to add an order to the table and directed me to the carry out section where more rudeness was. The server and order takers had very dry, nasty attitudes; not what you want displayed when dealing with people/the public. I was told a carry out would take 2hrs which is ridiculous. So I'm suppose to just sit around with my family and look crazy while everybody eats. Our chef (Gino) made everything worthwhile and all better. He had an amazing personality and turned my frown into a smile. I've worked in CS for over 23 years and sometimes bending the rules is necessary for customer satisfaction and to boost the rep of the business. Were it not for our chef (Gino), this visit would not have been a happy one. The serving staff need attitude adjustments or another job and Gino deserves a raise; he was excellent. Gino gets 10 stars; Benihana tonight, for this occasion earned 2. Ms. Y. Andrews read more

Service at this location is terrible, the food is hit or miss. We often go on lunch and we have to wait though there are several seats opened, we are seated after a wait although nobody has left. read more

Yesterday the server was very rude. After 1 1/2 hr wait we asked server how long will it be and she said y'all gotta be patient as if we hadn't been waiting almost 2 hours for food. She never mentioned when she sat us that the chefs were backed up and that it would be a long wait which would give us the option to decide to stay and wait or leave. After almost two hours we asked how much longer a and she said with an attitude "I don't know, I don't even know who got your tickets" so we said we were ready to cash out. Then the chef came out so we decided to stay since he came before she could cash us out. She then said "Oh now y'all wanna stay" not to mention on of the guest at the table was allergic to mushrooms and she gave her the soup with mushroom, the guest politely reminded the server and her response was a dry "oh". After the chef finished cooking I packed my food to go because at that point my appetite was ruined by the experience. The server then took my card and added her own tip of $26 without my permission. Which I only saw after requesting a receipt she didn't give. The manager took the tip off but no other accommodations were made for their employee providing horrible service and stealing my money. Something needs to happen because at this point I will never patronize, nor recommend this establishment ever again! read more

I've visited this Benihana a couple of times and it is wonderful. The staff is friendly, the food is good. Be sure to ask for Josh, an excellent chef and all around good guy. Also make sure you say hello to Song and the beautiful Bin who are part of the wonderful wait staff. read more

It is Friday, 5pm.... I'm staying at a nearby hotel and wanted to grab some food outside the hotel. I travel weekly to different cities and states and even around the world. I deal with different things all the time and have s pretty good idea of how things work.... So this is not just a random uninformed rant. When I got here they told me the wait time is 45min-1hr.... Ooookkkk... I looked around and the hibachi side is half empty and 2/3 of the sushi lounge are unoccupied. I brought that to their attention and they explained there's only 1 server in the sushi lounge... It's Friday....And you're not even full.....Who's managing this place!?!?!? We decided to do the Take Out not to waste time waiting. Guess what!? After placing our order they informed us that the wait time is: 45min-1hr!!!!! Unbelievable.... read more

Ordered beef julienne and spicy hibachi chicken. Food was decent except for the salad, which only comes with one dressing, and it's terrible. The main reason for the bad review though is that I went when it was very slow (literally only one other table was sat aside from mine) and it still took OVER AN HOUR just to get my food, not including waiting to be seated. I went here on my lunch break and ended up being late getting back and didn't even have a chance to actually eat my food at the restaurant (had to get it boxed up as soon as it was off the grill) even though I work just across the street. Service was also subpar to put it mildly. 15 minutes just to get the drinks out! Will definitely not be visiting again any time soon! read more

We've been waiting here for 2 HOURS for a table. They told us they have to seat all of the reservations first. But when we got here they told us we were waiting because they sent some of the staff home because they're usually not crowded on a Tuesday. I'm confused! So now it's 8pm and he tells us that we will be seated since we're in the building, but he don't know when. Wtf!!!! I'm hate this place. He has not even tried to accommodate us by asking if we'd like to be split up or anything! Don't come to this place EVER!!!!! read more

Can someone please explain why I can't order soup in a size bigger than single servings size? You know with COVID take out is a preferred method. You have to be kidding me that I can't order 6 soups in one container. Gordon's sells all kinds of takeout containers if you didn't know. I really shouldn't be surprised when this place repeatedly disappoints. This place is so tone deaf to their reviews. I hope Ford Land Development kicks them off the property when their lease is up which is real soon. read more

With a reservation, 3 1/2 hours by the time we ate and paid. Waiter was very slow to fulfill simple requests such as more water and the check took 20 min just to fix. How is this restaurant even open their service is so dam slow, they should close it down just like they closed tgif next door.,employees are rude as hell taking their own sweet lil time.even the manager on duty acts just like them.they shud specifically be removed from doordash their slow ass service makes dashers late for their deliveries and they dont even care or apologize the fact that they are taking forever i mean how do you take over a half hr to make a damn cup of rice. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before I came to this place. The service here is unexceptionable to say the least. With so many negative reviews it's mind boggling that cooperate hasn't stepped in to do something. I could go in great detail about my experience but I see people have already painted the picture of this place very well. STAY AWAY, we work too hard for our money to patronize businesses that OBVIOUSLY dont care about customers or improving their problems. read more

I would give this place a star ,if they paid me , first of all we ordered over $250 worth of food to on 0704/20 all and I mean all of the food was horrible ,dry , no veggies , no sauce, just old sticky half browned right ,they charged us for 2 shrimp fried rice and didn't put neither in our bag , I called to complain he basically tried to tell me I was assed out, then finally offered me only rice after all of my food was screwed up , I show up the next day he tried to reverse what he said, then down played my re order he promised me then less than half filled the rice . His attitude was just as shitty as the rice well really the entire meal . His staff has poor, very poor and rude attitude!!!! customer service worst than McDonalds. I wouldn't bring my dog here I would rate this place the with some ass employees read more

Came here for dinner with my husband. We sat in the sushi lounge. Everything tasted okay. It was funny because our entrees came out first then our salad and soup and then appetizers and then sushi. It was all over the place. It was very disorganized. But the food tasted great. The sushi isn't all that. I had the shrimp hibachi and my husband had the steak&shrimp hibachi. I love the chicken fried rice and the veggies that come with it. read more

Given one star is super generous my husband went out for lunch and got me a order to go. Get ready to eat my food the steak is over cooked no seasoning and food taste horrible on top of the fact my chicken is shredded. I call and speak with a manager Racheal to be exact if that's her name people lie so much. She stated that she was doing me a generosity of recooking my food for me at 9pm. I had no idea that I had a time limit on when i should come back and eat my food. Moving forward ask to speak to the general Manager she wouldn't give me the time he would be in. I was already told they had roaches and mice I should have never ordered from them in the first place. read more

I have been eating here for 20 years and it's had its peaks and valleys. Unfortunately, right now now it's on its downside. The carry out was bad and I will never do it again. The employees are nice but not very helpful. When dining in, be sure to expect to stay there for 3 hours and smell like food for the entire night. So if you expect to go out after dinner, you better bring an extra change of clothes. I noticed it's decline after a management change back in 2010. read more

I will never eat here again. Tried to make reservations for my mothers 86th birthday. We had 18 people so we called well in advance. They had the room but refused to accommodate us because they had to save room for walk ins. Wait a minute, we are guaranteeing you 18 paying customers but you refuse us just in case someone else wants to eat there?!?! I'll go somewhere that appreciates a customer. This is definitely a "Eek! Methinks not..." FYI-You're not that good-we had to beg two of the families to go because they think Benihana is "yucky". Thanks for the response Lee. What I failed to say in my review was that when I asked how many people can we make a reservation for, they said maximum is either 8 or 9 (I can't remember) . I said I wanted to make 2 reservations for 8 or 9, but they wouldn't let me do that either. This is the same place that gave me a fancy dessert for my birthday one year then took it back because "it was the wrong one", it should have been a cheaper one. Weirdest thing that ever happened to me at a restaurant. It was 5 years ago and my husband and I still talk about it. read more

This Benihana is pretty good but the service could be a little better. Dishes came out before some appetizers which was okay but still. I love the Rocky's Choice it's one of my personal favorites. Party of 9 Friday with reservation we were seated and waited 40minutes and at least 20 without drinks. Chef was nice and funny food was good. I told the manager when we were being seated that it was my cousins Birthday. The manager helped box our food and I then told her I would be billed singly. Then insulting says there's 9 of you who's alone? Oh ya you sorry haha. I literally just told her. Then we all paid and a few of us were waiting on our debit cards as the manager and team come over to sing happy birthday. -_- what was the point!? read more

I had an overall enjoyable experience. The wait was about 30 minutes. Staff and hostess were polite for the most part. Cook was very entertaining. Food was ok. I have been going to Benihana's every since they came to Michigan. I have tried the one in Troy, Novi and last night went to the one in Dearborn. The Bloody place was PACKED even at 9:00 pm on Wednesday Evening. Wait staff was kind and prompt. Quality of Food - Has gone down, poor quality of FOOD. Steak was like leather even as cooked at Medium. Quantity of use of BUTTER Ten Folds..... everything loaded with Butter, despite restricting it thru the chef. The Ginger Sauce used in the Salad - the color and texture has changed - though it taste the same (more creamer), Miso soup taste has changed. Its not the food was cheap. Landed spending over 85$ for 2 of us. Will I try Benihana again - NO. Goodbye Benihana. read more

If I could give no stars, I would. My family's first time here and it was terrible. We had to catch a flight at 9 in Detroit so we made a reservation for 5. We were finally sat at 6 (what's the point of a reservation?). We got our drinks at 6:30. We finally got a chef at 7:30. I spoke to the manager and he simply stated that they were letting all the guests know that things would happen this way. Only, I was never told that my reservation didn't matter and that I would spend 2 1/2 hours in the building before my food even began to cook. Needless to say, we spent $250 for 4 people just to box our food up before we could eat and not have time to actually eat it at all because we couldn't take it on the plane and we almost missed our flight. The little bit I did eat was great. Service was BAD and management was EVEN WORSE. I remember telling my wife that I couldn't believe I still paid full price. I haven't been here in 10 years and I now remember why. Reservations were at 8:30 they sat us at 9:30, cook didn't come out to do hibachi until 11:15. They're exhaust fans don't work. The amount of smoke was unbearable. DON'T COME HERE! read more

Okay, so, this wasn't the first time that I have had Japanese teppanyaki, or hibachi. The first time was while I was in college over 20 years ago where I had the wonderful opportunity to try Kyoto style teppanyaki from a mall food court restaurant which was a part of a Kyoto based chain. However, this was the first time that I got to try the Tokyo style teppanyaki that Benihana specializes in. And while the flavor profiles are roughly similar, I have to say that the Tokyo style has slightly bolder flavors, and I like bold flavor. My wife knowing this chose to take me here as a late birthday celebration. First, she suggested signing up for their birthday email coupon. That was good advice, because they are a bit pricey. However, it is worth it, because you get great food and entertainment for the money that you pay. Second, she suggested making reservations ahead of time, because the wait time is less than it would be, if we just walked in. That too was good advice, because we only had a few minutes to wait despite there being a crowd at the door waiting to get in. Third, the place was very clean. The staff was friendly and quick in their service. Fourth, the chef, Danny, was probably the best that I have ever seen cooking in a teppanyaki restaurant. He was funny. He was charming. He was entertaining. There were children in the other party that we had to share the table with, and he was brilliant at entertaining them. I can not emphasize enough how great he was. And the flavors, oh, the flavors were bold, but not overpowering. My wife and I both ordered the Benihana Delight done Spicy Hibachi Chicken style, because we were thinking of ordering the Spicy Hibachi Chicken with the addition of extra shrimp, and the waitress suggested that it would be cheaper to order the Benihana Delight with the seasonings of the Spicy Hibachi Chicken, because it included both chicken and shrimp. And I must say that it was great of her to look out for the guests. The flavor profile of the resulting dish was bold and complex while the ingredients appeared to be simple. The hibachi rice had a more complex flavor than the Kyoto style rice that I have previously had due to the use of copious amounts of garlic butter versus the Kyoto style being simpler and plainer. I must say however, that Danny really rocks and makes this a great place to dine. read more

The phone costumer service is terrible, was hung up on . Then called back and but on hold for 8 minutes. When I got there in person the two ladies seemed uninterested in really helping us. The food was good hence the reason for 2 stars otherwise it only deserved a 1/2-1. The service was terrible. My waitress, Ayjih, was less than friendly, she took my drink before I was finished when I asked for the check. She got nasty when I asked for more vegetables instead of rice and stated she would have to charge me extra if I wanted to replace the rice with vegetables. I waited a significant amount of time for being only one person and wanting to sit by the bar. My overall experience was unenjoyable and unwelcoming, I typically have a good experience at Benihana but not the Dearborn location. During a "down" time with only a few eating and plenty of tables, I would have expected my experience to be more pleasant. I will not be back to this location and the manager should be embarrassed in regards to the overall attitude of the staff from the hostess to the waitress. read more

If you plan on dining in on the hibachi side, make sure to call ahead and make reservations!! Otherwise, the wait time without reservations is normally 30-60 mins. Also, if you plan on dining in- make sure you plan have some time on your hands because your dining experience will be for about 2 hours. If it's your birthday, you can sign up the the Benihana Chef's Table special! They give you a $30 certificate every year on your birthday. You have to purchase a entree to get $30 worth of whatever you like! Bring a partner and share. BUT.. make sure to PRINT your coupon, otherwise they will not accept it. With each entree, they start you off with a miso soup (vegetable base) or a mushroom onion soup (beef and chicken base), and a house ginger salad. We usually get the hibachi shrimp and sushi for our appetizer. By the time my entree comes, I am usually halfway full lol. But leftovers are always great. read more

I'll start off on a better note, the food is mediocre. The service is awful. The place is not nearly staffed for its size. I ordered a miso soup. And the spoon had spicy mayo on It. By the time the server brought me another bowl, the sushi had come out. We also ordered edamame which didn't come out at all. When we had finished our meal our waitress was still waiting for the edamame. She didn't even ask us if we still wanted it, which is pretty inconsiderate. Very good and ghetto!! What happened to this place!! Horrible service!! Long wait on table and cook!!

We went for a birthday celebration and the wait staff was probably the unfriendliest we've ever had at a Benihana's. I don't know if anybody ever smiled and we had to wait when there were so many empty tables. We got a table for two due to my dietary restrictions. They made my food correctly but they ended up making my husbands the same as mine and not normal. Of course when they do that specifically by the time we got our food it was cold. The manager did offer to remake my husband's meal but we did not want to wait another 20 to 30 minutes for that. read more

Tried to call and make reservations all day but phone was out of service or something. We showed up and it was a hour wait. We ordered a drink and waited. We finally heard our name called about 45 mins later and someone else stood up saying they were the same name, the lady took them instead of us without any question or reassurance that it wasn't our name. We waited waited another 15 mins before I asked when it will be our turn and they magically did not have our name on the list. We waited about another 20-30 mins before seated. Finally at the table, the waitress was rude and didn't take care of us well. It took a long time to get simple things like a water. Our dinner salads came after the cook started grilling. There were at least 3 tables that sat after us that were done with the meal before us. We had to ask for everything. It was the worst waitress I think I've ever seen and she didn't even have to bring us our food. Not to mention my 2nd drink from the bar looked like the glass hadn't been washed all night. I couldn't even finish it. The only saving grace to the night was David the chef. He was personable, funny, a great cook and made it all good. He's the only reason that I will give this place another try sometime in the future. read more
