I placed a carry out for a chicken Cesar salad. Almost $25 for some lettuce & MAYBE a quarter of a breast. Insane.

Not big on huge chain restaurants, but J. Alexander's has always been a safe bet for me. The staff is always nice and even though it always seems to be crowded, most often you can get a table. I normally stick with the Grilled Salmon With Mashed Potatoes. They are also always heavy with the pours, so that might be a benefit for some.

Awesome as always. I love this location. It's been a minute since I been here. The food was great. If you have never tried their crab cakes you don't know what you are missing. They have the best crab cakes in Michigan. Trust me, I have tried to find crab cakes like I eat in Virginia and Maryland and they are on point. Ariana, our server was amazing. I really Enjoyed my late lunch on today.

Dimly lit restaurant with a pretty straight forward menu. I can't believe I've never eaten here before. The service was good. We didn't wait long to be seated. Food served in a timely manor. I didn't order much, just a salad with shrimp & a loaded baked potato. I would go back and try something else. I noticed they serve shoestring fries (yum) and they don't have lemonade.

When I first walked in, I was nicely greeted by the host and we didn't have a reservation, but the wait time didn't exceed 30 minutes. The lighting was low and the set up was elegant. I will say I would've appreciated some bread or something for the table while we were waiting for our food/waitress. The food was excellent! When I first got it, it was cold, but they took it back and gave me a whole new steak with a whole new side free of charge which I really appreciated. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure our needs were met. I don't give it five stars because though it was 30 minutes before closing, I still think it was rude to use a vacuum right next to where we were eating, it was loud and ruined the vibe. But other than that would definitely recommend this spot!

Not gonna lie Jay Alexander used to be my spot. I love their drinks. I love their carrot cake. But the last couple of times I've been there I've been left in pure disappointment. I went on a Sunday for lunch with my son, which it wasn't busy and there was no wait which was nice. But it seemed like we barely saw our server. Especially once we got our food when the food arrived. Another server brought the food out. Then our server came and checked on us and then we never saw her until we were leaving out to go to the restroom, and I stopped her and said that we needed boxes and a bill because we were ready to go. But it seemed like once we got the bill and I gave my card that part was very quick. And I'm not sure how their heating system is set up which they have no control over obviously, but it was extremely hot in the bathroom so hot that I was sweating as soon as we walked in. Extremely uncomfortable to actually use the restroom in such a hot environment it felt like a sauna Then we left and we went to go run an errand and I placed an order online to pick up on my way home because we were going to be passing by. When we pulled up, there were cars parked in all three to go spots. And there was a family of three getting a toddler out the backseat and heading inside the restaurant. I had to park on the other side of the building and called in to let them know that I was there. I also let them know as the other family was walking in that the family walking in, with description, is currently part in spot, one of the to go area. The hostess didn't say anything about it, and didn't say anything to the family as I sat on the other side of the building, waiting for a waitress to bring on my order. I mention it to the waitress and she said yes that is a disappointment because she would have said something if she would have known as well. This was somewhat frustrating because I had to stop my car by the to go spots to get the phone number to call in my to go. Mind you I was already there earlier with my toddler and walked from the other side of the building with a toddler in heels to get inside the restaurant, so it was mind blowing that these people parked in the to go spots, but we're coming to sit in the restaurant. And when the host was notified that no one said anything to them about it. I would've went inside, but my son was in the backseat sleeping and honestly when we tip on our two goes this is what we tip for. This type of service . Fast-forward, I get home with my to go order and ordered a full rack of ribs with mashed potatoes and broccoli and I asked them to put it in separate containers because I was feeding two separate people. There was a massive amount of mashed potatoes which no complaints but the ribs themselves looked like a half rack split in half. Honestly for $30 or less I could've got way more ribs at another place. Soooo idk if I'll be going back because I don't mind paying extra for things when they are worth it, but I can definitely say my last couple trips have not been worth the dollar.

Nobody was rushing the tables to leave which is a testament to how they booked their reservations. Our meals and adult beverages were all two thumbs up! My dad took a sip of his raspberry twist and said, "wow, that is strong. I'm glad I'm not driving." My mom took a sip of his drink and said, "oooh that's good! If you think that's strong you should try my drink!" Her drink was the Black Forest and it was definitely the kind of drink one sips! My Christmas cookie martini went down real easy! The food was great -mushroom soup, Caesar salad, two turkey dinners (one with some modifications), buffalo balls and a side of mashed potatoes. And of course, we had to get a plate of warm chocolate chip cookies! The place was lightly decorated for the holiday - tastefully done! Today, they nailed everything! Even though the menu is a bit meat-centric, there is always plenty that I enjoy. For the meat lovers, you cannot go wrong with the filet and the ribeye! I have enjoyed the appetizers, the salads including their rendition of the famous Maurice! It's very good and plentiful! I often come for the Wednesday and Friday fish and chips specials! The turkey Reuben is always enjoyable. On this visit, they have changed the menu. For the turkey Reuben, they are now using a homemade onion bun. Very nice bun, but not quite right for a true Reuben that calls for a crispy rye bread. It might help if they buttered and toasted the onion bun. But, still not a complete hit. They have also removed some well-loved chicken dishes and moved them to the specials. Another item they have taken off the menu is their hearty club sandwich, that one will be missed as well. I always have hoped they bring back the pulled chicken BBQ sandwich, one of the best! No shade of course, there is still lots to choose from. Great drinks, upbeat atmosphere and always a favorite!

There was no question, I would see my friend. We had selected Chicane earlier, eager to try the new restaurant in a familiar setting, by the train tracks on Starkweather. This location was formerly Station 885, a restaurant my friend and I visited years earlier, when a toy train ran along tracks around the perimeter, delighting her young daughter. We arrived early, scoring a great table with a view of the large bar, lounge, and stage. The restaurant is glamorous, with gorgeous lighting and attractive furnishings. Musicians entertained the eager and appreciative audience. There are so few places that provide this level of entertainment and hospitality. I had already previewed the menu and was anticipating the meal ahead. The duck sounded amazing and is almost always my first choice. However, the short ribs were tempting, as were the scallops in a coconut curry broth. I went with my first instinct, the duck, paired with a French Onion soup. The medium-rare duck breast was perfectly prepared; I liked the sweet potato puree and slaw accompaniments. Incidentally, the portion was huge. My friend enjoyed her braised short rib, which was on the 2-course supper menu, available before 6pm. For dessert, I went with the chocolate cube. Unfortunately, I didn't even see the banana parfait, which was mentioned in several of the reviews here. Oh, well, I was content. The dessert had a bold, intense chocolate flavor, which paired well with the ice cream's more subtle flavors. I also appreciated the different textures on the plate. Service was fantastic: professional and helpful. Unfortunately, my car died during the cold, and TripleA was unable to help, given the number of people/vehicles in a similar situation. The restaurant staff went above and beyond to find someone (the Executive Chef, who was in the middle of service) to provide a jump; I am so grateful for the gracious hospitality.

No updated time was given and half of the table reserved for us which we could see was empty and cleaned was given away which made our wait time even longer. We addressed the situation with host and she responded with "oh they will be quick i promise". As you can imagine that did not sit well with my party. After 4:30pm came around I asked to speak with a manager (Bill). I made him aware of the situation and he directed the host to seat us immediately.Upon being seated we received awesome service from both servicers right away. They told us that the manager would be out to speak with us shortly. When he did arrive I explained that we love Long Horn and we were expecting to be accommodated accordingly ( not for free but atleast accomadated) and assured me that we would be. Orders for all drinks, apps, and entrees were put in by 5:30pm and although the appetizers and drinks came out quickly we did not receive our dinner until around 8pm. We asked for updates and we're told the kitchen was backed up. When everyone finally started eating we noticed the food was cold, undercooked, over cooked. People were missing items etc it was just a big mess. So we asked for the manager again and made him aware of the cold food and he explained to me that it's too hard to assure hot food with a party size(15) this large. By this time we were very restless and just ready to go.Many people in our party sent their food back others just wanted a discount because they were still hungry. The servicers came over with all the bills and nothing was accomadated. We told her that this is unacceptable and that we are highly disappointed in our experience. We requested the manager again, but when she came back she told us that he was tied up with something else and could not come to us at that time. We were prepared to just pay the bill because we wanted to leave but then was told have a good night and the bill was taken care of. Shortly after half our party was gone the manager comes to the table and asked were did everyone go. We explained we waited and were told to have a good night. He then turns and yells/blames the servers for what happened. We all ended up leaving after that because we were so upset with our experience.
