Two stars because the food is good. Waited on hold for 14 minutes to place a carry out order. During this time I used my husband's phone to call the operator and ask what the hold up was. The first time I was directed to call and press 2 (place a carry out). I called at around 13 minutes again and asked if I would be able to place my order, as it was now 9:00pm and the restaurant closes at 9:30. Probably the worst dining experience I've ever had. Some "highlights": - Took 15 min for server to come to the table after we sat down. - SOME of the drinks arrived at the table over an hour after we arrived. (The rest came later.) - I ordered an old fashioned, which purported to be made with Toki whiskey, sugar and bitters. Not listed was the sour mix, which was inexplicably included. - After 90 minutes at the table, the only food we'd received was a bowl of beef broth. The chef arrived at the table shortly after. - Literally everything off the grill tasted the same - all smothered in garlic butter and soy sauce. What's the point of even having different proteins/sides? - Food is cooked sequentially. So the chef put a massive pile of fried rice in our plates, which sat there for 35 minutes while he finished cooking everything else. - Would've voiced these concerns and asked for some of our $300 ($300!!) bill to be reduced, but there were no managers to be found. The food here is awesome.. I'll state that immediate (hence the 2 star, rather than 1), however, when the waiter charges my card for a guy he's trying to help out, I'm no fan. They charged my card for both my food and my tables next to me. Beforehand, the waiter and this customer were discussing the amount of his check. The waiter and this customer then handshake after talking for a while and he has my card. I then get a check for $56 after reviewing a $2X.XX bill previously. After getting the actual manager by asking for my receipt for the refund, 10 minutes later (also after calling Chase and having them remove it) the waiter comes to me and says they must have completed it incorrectly when trying to refund it last time. I have loved Benihana since I was a kid. I would always celebrate special occasions at this restaurant. After moving to Deerborn I was extremely excited that there was a Benihana right down the road. The service at this restaurant has been terrible from my first experience. The staff is incredibly rude and acts like you are an annoyance. I bought several gift cards from Benihana due to a promotion that it was almost impossible to use. In fact I was told by the takeout person that I had to drive to the location put in my take-out order and then wait two hours for it to be received, I'll because I wanted to pay with a gift card that the company itself is promoting. I will go out of my way to not only find a hibachi restaurant that cares about service, but I also do everything in my power to make sure that friends and people important to me do not give this chain another penny until they remember who they are in business to serve and make some changes. read more

Our cook did an amazing job with our food. At first I was concerned because I had never seen that much garlic butter added to the fried rice, but it was amazing. Probably the best or second best Japanese meal I've ever had and that is coming from someone that has eaten at over two to three dozen different Japanese restaurants over the years. We did not have reservations and were going to wait for a table in the lounge but about 15mins after arriving a couple seats opened up at a hibachi table and so glad it did. The service overall needs improvement. After we were sat it took 15mins before someone got our drink order and then we waited about 30 more minutes for our cook to come. Either workers were slacking or they are under staffed in that area. But other than the long wait at the beginning it was a great visit. This is probably my 4th Benihana I've been to and the food was awesome. For two people in our group that ordered the Trio with Shrimp fried rice and drinks it cost over $120. read more

On May 27th 2018 I went to this location at around 4 30 p.m. and had the best experience ever. Mike was my server and he was awesome and very attentive. He has great customer service experience. We went to this location for lunch(there were 2 other couples there at the time) and it still took over 20mins to be seated(6 ppl was there in total). Reservations were for 6:30 and we were seated after 7:20 pm. First desk persons attitude was horrible and rude. Walking into the building, there was no greetings only rude stares of us disrupting their conversation. After we were finally seated, we were given FILTHY menus with food, grease and piles of garlic butter smeared all over them. 1st server...."i'm not your server, she's busy and she's be here". 2nd server..."I'm training but my help will come help me, I'll be back". She took our beverage orders and left but not to be seen for 35 mins. Meanwhile, her long braids to her hip area where dipping in drinks, plates and the hibachi grill. Needless to say the table of 8 of us found this to be disgusting. After asking several staff members for our drinks, we FINALLY got them and yes, they were wrong. Server #3 had a very irritable attitude towards the guests. At this point we've been there for HOURS. She took the food orders and the chef took so long to come that our ice water melted and the water was now bubbles from sitting so long. The chef DROWNED all the meat and veggies in garlic butter. The restaurant was filthy. The party next us was gone a hour and a half but the dirty table left behind was still there when we left. VERY DIRTY, VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE and a huge disappointment for my birthday. Unfortunalty, my friends and family have chosen not to return to this particular location, again. From 6pm to well after 10 pm is ridiculous WITH RESERVATIONS. Well over $100 was the bill and we were given a $8 credit and strongly suggested a $18 tip, minimum!! The audacity!
