Went to Benihanna's for the 1st time with my wife,son and his fiancee for a Fathers Day gift. Had reservation and my son had asked for a Chef he knows and he was off that night and we got NII. He was Great. Seated fast, and soup, salad and drinks came in a decent time. The wait for the Chef may have been 20-25 min but not to bad. Once NII started his show it was Game on. Fun Exciting and we all enjoyed ourselves . There were 8 of us total at the table and what was Great is my son and Nii hit it off and held interesting conversation that we all could join in but it was mostly those 2. So I gave it a 5 star based on taste of my Steak, Shrimp, Rice and Ice Cream , Timely fashion for service, overall experience. I've visited Benihana's in other states. This location doesn't have garlic butter like the other states. The food is bland. I have 3 stars because the service was really good, waitress knew the menu and was well knowledgeable. This location is very diverse in all area's, I love it! A friend and I went to Benihana for their $3, $6, $9 happy hour at the bar. We started with the red plum sake sangarias and they were okay. We weren't the biggest fan of the flavor, but I'd definitely try another cocktail next time. I got the gyoza, a cheeseburger with fries, and a 4 piece spicy salmon sushi snack. The cheeseburger was great, as were the fries. The pork gyoza was yummy, I liked the dipping sauce. My sushi was just okay, it wasn't bad, just nothing special. It was still a good deal for happy hour. Our server was also great! He found a knife so I could cut my burger, which seems small, but was really appreciated. First time dining here. I was invited to join a friend and his friends for a Christmas dinner. The place was busy and the wait long even though we had a reservation. Even after we were seated, it took forever for us to even see a waitress. Once the waitress did come to the table, she took our drink order. Once again, it took forever to even get one drink. Then when she began taking our food orders, she was all over the place. Things seem to get a little better when the Hibachi chef started cooking at the table. He was fun and engaging. We been coming here every year in July for my son's birthday. 16 years!!! Yesterday was horrible. Reservation was for 7:30pm and we didn't get served until after 9pm. Supposedly the head chef cooked but the food was terrible. Rice was nothing but butter and no flavor. No tricks were done. No singing happy birthday or even saying Happy birthday. No ice cream. Chicken fried rice was made without care. They literally put the chicken on top of the rice! When talking to the supervisor Monica she was rude and disrespectful. Lied and said she was the regional manager when asked for their number. Later that night she cancelled the reservation. When I say we been going to this location for 16 YEARS!!!! Manager said the bottle was cracked by herself... but when I went to check, there was no cracked bottle--just an almost empty bottle of Henny sitting there like I thought. I went there for a dinner takeout. I had a coupon for $10 off $40. They came to our store and gave us coupons. I asked the hostess if she could take my order and if she will honor the coupon. I had to say "excuse me!" To get her attention. She never acknowledged me walking in and was scrolling on her phone oblivious of the world. She went to grab a manager who came to the register. The manager approved my coupon but said the hostess will ring me out. Then to my astonishment, the waitress runs off in tears. I have no idea what happened. The manager proceeds to take my order and acting as if nothing happened. This lady kept declining everything I wanted to order. I asked for the meal for 2. She said they only do that online, she never suggested an alternative (????) Then I ordered the Lotus roll and she said they no longer made it. She never offered or suggested anything else to help me out. I even asked for a recommendation for something similar or good and she said she doesn't know because she never ever heard of the Lotus roll for as long as she worked there. I'm pretty sure I had it within this year! This lady had zero customer service skills and was a terrible manager. She looked like I was wasting her time and that she hated her job. What happened to Benihana? It used to be so good and service was great. Did I just get a fluke of a bad experience? It's so sad because I love this place. Minutes after the original reservation time. Then they proceeded to forget about my table after they sat us. Not cool! Hibachi chef was nice and gregarious. Good- atmosphere Not so good - I ordered the Sunrise Scramble with spinach and cheese. The scramble was over cooked and dry. Coffee was ordered, but waitress never returned to refill my mug. Potatoes were cubed and just ok. Waitress disappeared after we received our food, and we never saw her again. We sat when finished, waiting for her to return with the check. Waited about 15 minutes, then I got up to look for her, talked to another waitress who wasn't sure where our waitress was. About 10 minutes later, she showed up with our checks, then we had to wait at least another 10 min for her to check us out. The restaurant was almost emptied, as it was near closing. Greetings. I originally placed this concern on benihanalistens.com with no response so I decided to add it here as well. Our visit was on Sunday, June 28th, 2026 (check #30023). My wife and I came in to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary. Reservation, wait time, and initial contact with server were all good. The server did ask what brought us in and we informed her about our anniversary. Now, our server was the only server for four tables, so she was over extended. Not to sound rude or inconsiderate, that's not my concern. There's a certain level of service I've come to expect from Benihana and the collective team missed the mark. The kitchen was extremely slow. Our sushi roll came out while we were eating our main course. Also, we never received our salads. I didn't notice until the end of the meal experience. When I brought it to the attention of the server, she became defensive, stating she's the only one serving multiple tables. Again, as a customer that is not my concern. She then states that either she can bring them out now, or not at all and she was unable to take them off the bill. By this time, my wife and I are extremely frustrated. (Ultimately the salads were taken off our bill). Again, we are celebrating our anniversary. There was no recognition, no customary desert. We didn't even receive our ice cream that's suppose to come with our six-course meal. This was a bad experience on a day of celebration. Benihana had been our favorite restaurant, spending many different occasions with exceptional service (mainly referring to Michigan restaurants. We relocated to Columbus two years ago). Hopefully this is something that can be corrected. And, hopefully, someone will acknowledge the inferior service experience. Very disappointed! I was really excited to visit because it was my first time doing the hibachi grill ever. I was prepared for a good show and good food, especially because I was coming to celebrate my birthday. I made a reservation and noted that it was for a birthday. I brought my coupon to spend and the reservation was for a Friday. I later learned that they don't take the vouchers on Friday, which was my fault for not seeing the fine print, but it definitely started the experience off bad. Our reservation was for 6:45pm and we finally got seated at 7:01pm. After being seated and ordering, we waited over an hour and a half for our food to be started. We left the restaurant at 9:20pm, we were there for 2.5 hours! Once our chef started cooking, we didn't get a full show because they were running so late. We missed out on the fire that we saw every other table get and that made the experience lackluster. I'm not sure if they're required to do all of the show, but it was just us watching the chef cook, which was slightly awkward. Our server was so busy, they barely checked on us. We didn't even get some of the courses we were to get and didn't get our water refilled until the very end of the meal when we were about to leave. The food itself was bland without any of the sauces and for the cost of the entree and experience, it was over priced. For the cost of what we got, it was truly not worth it. Every other table seemed like they had fun, it was pretty loud and lively. Our table was quiet and it was hard watching everyone get seated after us and eat before eus and get a dynamite show. We didn't get anything we were expecting. I understand it was a busy night, but it was a terrible wait even with a reservation, and service was super slow and not attentive. Though all staff was nice and treated us kindly, it was still a terrible experience overall. Some people at our table had to leave before we got our food due to the wait and I don't blame them. Happy Hour Is the Way to Go! Let's be honest, the landscape of restaurants from our childhood is changing. Gone are the days of American fare when Red Lobster, TGIFridays, Bennigans, and Olive Garden were rights of passage for you becoming an adult. Benihana is in that group and I would love for them to not be. Benihana brought my high school and college self the experience of hibachi grill without the danger of me venturing into unknown neighborhoods at night with my friends. This restaurant brought the experience to all neighborhoods and exposed me to a different culinary culture. It was a flex to work there when I was young and several birthdays, retirement parties, and baby showers started here. Look - it is different. There are younger servers, flustered managers in the generational divide, and diverse trained chefs now. That is a mixed bag. But bear with me and the restaurant to get a happy hour meal for two with $24 of sushi (4 rolls), $9 shrimp tempura, $9 sangria, and $9 large sake for a total of $64 dollars with tax. Can you go there for a few rolls and a sake? Yes. Is the food still good. Yes? Will it take patience at times? Yes. But so does Americana. read more

I have been to Sukura many times. I can honestly say that I have never had a bad experience! The overwhelming majority of my Mother's family lives in Calif. and I have family in Seattle, too. I lived in Cali for years. All of that to say I am very selective about Japanese and Mexican food. One of my faves at Sukura is their bean sprouts. They are never over cooked! Second and last time eating here. Beyond disappointed. Had 6:30 reservations for party of 4 to celebrate a birthday. Was told they were running behind and we would have a 25-30 min wait. At the 30 min point, one of us checked with host and was told that they canceled our reservation because we never checked in! When seated, it took so long to get acknowledged by server that we got up to get drinks at the bar. Then, she kept bringing our appetizers, salads,soups, without clearing any bowls. Chef was decent. They were very busy for a Wednesday evening. That being said we were seated quickly but had a little wait as they were short on chef's. They offered a free appetizer to make up for this which was great! The bartender Jeremy was great pulling double duty making drinks and helping take orders. Cazi (sp?)our chef was fabulous very personable and entertaining our food was cooked to order and delicious. Our overall experience was very positive.
