Hibachi Express - Hibachi chicken and Hibachi steak and chicken - Japanese Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

What an expensive mistake this place was. To be clear there was nothing gross/unsafe or rude staff or anything at play. Just comically bad portion sizes and subpar food. Crab rangoon barely had any filling. For $16 dollars the shrimp and steak was a big pile of fried rice (and i mean just rice, no veg or anything mixed in). The actual veg was just a few carrots and some slimy cabbage. No zuchinni, mushrooms or anything else you would find in any other hibachi veg medley. I saw there were upsells for mushrooms and stuff on the menu, i figured it was for double portions. The few nuggets of steak were overcooked to the point it tasted like beef jerky. The few pieces of shrimp were clearly out of a bag of frozen shrimp from an aldis. Also did a chicken and steak, same deal on that meal with the addation the chicken was also overcooked and very dry. $38 wasted for a few pounds of bland rice. Yum yum sauce was good. No ginger. I can understand a gouge scheme like this in some big money neighborhood, but off shrock road? Who's keeping this place in business? read more

Hibachi Express - Not worth $10 let alone the $16 I paid.. - Japanese Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

I usually always go here when I am in Ohio. They are usually spot on but today they missed the bar. They gave me the wrong order. Also, it just didn't taste as great as it usually does. I still love this place, I will just make sure to check my food before I leave. Try them out. read more

Hibachi Express - Hibachi shrimp with Fried rice, onions, and Cabbage - Japanese Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

My first time at this location, ordered Hibachi Steak, added & paid for extra steak. See photo Online pics show soup & salad, though menu does not state that is included (like most others), nor is there an option to add. For $31.00, all I get is a massive amount of rice, clearly not extra beef and was cold when delivered. I live less than 5 minutes. Have yet to taste. read more

Hibachi Express - Hibachi steak, less extra steak - Japanese Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

Use to work there with the old owner lol but had to move. But every time i am in Columbus this is the one place i have to stop by, the food is still great i always get stake/shrimp. Can't wait to for next time read more

I think it was OK. My wife lives close by, and decided to check this place out because we love Asian and it's really close by. It's really easy to find it's located in the strip mall right off of a Main Street. The inside has very little Decour like everyone says. There is a fish tank, and some basic things that resemble a traditional Asian spot. It looks family-owned which I like. We stop by close to closing time, probably about 8 PM. My wife what are the steak hibachi and I ordered the chicken and shrimp hibachi. Combos come with rice and cabbage. We also ordered crab Rangoon and chicken eggrolls. My wife said that the chicken eggrolls were the best! She noted that she would never order them at a Chinese restaurant if the Japanese ones are so much better!! The crab Rangoon was different. The feeling was very bare, and I'm not sure how often or how normal that might be.. I'm used to them being stuffed with a filling and fried to perfection, but these were mostly full of air. They were OK. As for my meal, I would have sent a picture but it was so heavy that my rice spilled out of the Styrofoam container. It came with lots and lots of rice and not much veggies. Which was disappointing since I really didn't want the rice. My chicken was over cooked and dry. Didn't come with much shrimp. The rice was dry as well. read more

In a dingy stripmall, this is not a big fancy Japanese steakhouse. No big tables or fancy shows. But the food is amazing. It's just a little place, a few tables, a bar in front of the grills. No decor to speak of. They seem to do mainly carryout, but I stayed. I'm sure you could watch from the bar and the chefs might do a bit of a show. I just ate. And ate. I ordered the chicken/steak/shrimp combo, and they brought it to the table in a to-go box that I could barely lift. It was packed full inside, and was easily enough for two meals. It comes with fried rice and some veggies, and I added more veggies, but still. Wow. Anyway, the food was incredible. Steak was cooked to order and tender, chicken and shrimp were tender, all were full of flavor. The fried rice was even better than most I've had at fancier hibachis. I barely touched the sauces- they just weren't needed. Service was super friendly, though minimal. Pop is in cans and silverware is, well, plastic. Come for the food, or get it to go. Save your money for the show someplace else. Prices here ain't cheap, but compared to the fancier places they are good. The music was loud Christian radio (not that there's anything wrong with that...) but I tuned it out. I will definitely be back, and if I lived in the area I would be fat from eating this once a week. read more

Very good food and great price. Their yum yum sauce is delicious, I would recommend getting 2 of you can.

The owners/employees were nice and friendly. The food was not worth the amount of money. The chicken was dry, the fried rice was not the most flavorful. The cabbage and carrot on the side was actually the best part of the plate. The steak wasn't half bad considering the price. There were only about 5 pieces of shrimp in my husbands chicken & shrimp combo plate. I probably won't go back but it was good to try somewhere new! read more

Has to be my favorite place to get delicious hibachi style food FAST!! Everything I've had here is great! Dont come here to dine in. Located in a small strip mall off Cleveland ave, call on ur way to pick up & it will be ready when u get there. There might be a table & a couple chairs only. Order to go. My favorite combo is the fried rice with steak + shrimp. It comes with delicious cabbage + carrots & choice of yum yum or ginger sauce. Get both.. And extra yum yum. The lobster is also delicious! Slightly overcooked but that's my preference. They also have chicken, scallop & salmon. I'm not a fan of any hibachi chicken anywhere as I find it quite dry & that's no different here so I Dont order it. Their veggies are also delicious but it kinda sucks paying for each vegetable separately although delicious and a great vege option. These guys are super fast!! Meals always done in 10minutes. I'm a fan!! read more

Hibachi Express - Fried rice + steak + shrimp + extra shimp. Comes with cabbage & carrots. 10/10. Delicious fast food. ~$16 - Japanese Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

Pros: Very friendly and fast, they have delicious authentic onion soup!, zucchini option is a plus, comes with fried rice, yum yum and ginger sauces are delicious. Everything was fresh and delicious. Cons: they got rid of the salad ginger dressing (was hoping for) that's still on the menu, the fried rice is just rice cooked in soy sauce (a plus for vegans) and price can be identical to a full restaurant depending what you choose - for me by the time I asked for everything that I would normally get with an entree at a full restaurant it was the same price ($15)- which would normally include soup, salad, zucchini, onions, mushrooms and sauces with entree. read more

It was nice, food was great. The only drawback was having to share a table with strangers all sitting in very close proximity to one another. Kind of awkward. I prefer the privacy of Benihana's. If you don't mind the lack of privacy for an intimate dinner with loved ones, it's a great restaurant! read more

Good... didn't mess my stomach up. Fried rice could use more garlic and egg tho. Other than that I liked it a lot. Sometimes you want authentic hibachi without the long process. This place is clutch. read more

I've been to a lot of traditional hibachi grills but this place is probably the best I've ever eaten! The 3 days that I was in Columbus I ate it twice and would've eaten it a third time but the other location for some reason wasn't open on Sunday at the time that was posted. The chicken was seasoned to perfection and the portions are big. I'm a big fan of yum yum sauce but the ginger sauce is to die for so I definitely recommend it! Anytime I pass through Columbus I'm definitely making it my business to stop here read more

I have been to the place a couple times nows. It's very clean and Japanese Spartan decor. Hope they do well. Prices are decent. Just do not like the Ala carte everything read more

Hibachi Express - Steak and shrimp with egg yolk sauce - Japanese Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

I had no idea this new place is so close to home! I see it very closely resembles the Gengi-go atmosphere, take japanese steakhouse food, minus cooking at your table experience and take to go. Not a very large place by any means, only a few tables and a bar like seating arrangement. You can order combos, sushi.. (menus uploaded). Also they have soup and salad like you would have at sit down version of japanese steakhouse. They also have yum yum sauce which is pretty tasty. I ordered my food to go, ordered steak and shrimp combo which are pre measured out portions of NY strip steak and shrimp. I believe it came with 7 pieces of shrimp and about the same of steak. Also comes with fried rice, cabbage and carrots..if youd like onion, mushroom or zucchini it's $1 extra for each..i ordered onion and zucchini. The salad was just iceburg with carrots and yum yum sauce. Since i took home i was able to garnish with bacon. Soup was typical, broth, a few green onions and few mushrooms. Fried rice was okay, nothing spectacular. You are able to have two sauces of either 2 yum yum or 2 ginger or one of each. Overall was just ok- i do not feel it measures up in taste like Gengi-go. Spent $17 on myself and wasn't all that impressed since everything tasted pretty much the same. read more

I guess I'm just not so lucky. I love going to hibachi places so I know what's good or what's not for comparable prices and menu. I can get a fresh and better sides and taste at nicer & cleaner looking restaurants. This place is just not for me. The rice is bland, so the meat. The sides....everything is just bland and not so impressive. It's too bad that it's so close to my house. I don't mine paying more for better quality, not rice quantity. read more

Recommended by a friend. Always meant to go as it's close to home. Menu options are simple and clean. Got the shrimp and a scallop meal. Flavors are delicious and blend well together. Meals come with rice as a side and soup for dine ins. Recommend ordering your favorite veggie as a side! Worth the extra dollar or two. Yum. Also the egg rolls are delicious and crispy. Will come back again for lunch. Prices are good for the amount of food you end up getting. Mushroom broth soup is simple and perfect. read more

Food was absolutely amazing and for the amount of money i pay for this food I'd highly recommend. They have a sauce called yum yum sauce and it is absolutely delicious ! Chicken and shrimp was made to perfection and the owner/employees were super welcoming and friendly. read more

Four because it's petty good, and isn't always the cause with hibachi carry out restaurants. Cons 1st ; the steak was cut in large pieces and somewhat chewy. Things i loved the food (drool) convenient and the food is consistently right. And i had a large order the lady insisted on helping me to my car so my sauce wouldn't spill. read more

This place was straight meh. The food was 2 star but I bumped the rating to 3 for value. The complimentary soup was bland, light chicken broth with a few very thin mushroom slices and a few bits of scallion, but it was free. The hibachi items were all a little over cooked and all had a slight taste of dirty flat top grill. Steak was ordered medium and arrived well done, one shrimp still had some shell on it and a few had some "grill funk" burned onto them from the dirty flat top, the same funk afflicted a few of the scallops. The vegetable that comes with the meal was cabbage with a few thin slices of carrot, I'm not a fan of cabbage so I didn't eat much. I also ordered a side of zucchini and it was actually pretty good. The fried rice was rice and soy sauce with a few tiny pieces of egg. I asked for one yum yum sauce(for my gf) and one ginger. I recieved 4 yum yum's and one sweet chili(?). I tried the yum yum and it was ok but it's just not my thing. The sweet chili sauce was good but not what I was expecting. I also ordered the egg yolk suace, it was good, very eggy. The service was friendly and the food did come out very fast. read more

Sorry to say that this was THE worst Japanese Steakhouse I've ever eaten at. I drove by it on the way home and was intrigued. We decided to eat-in at the restaurant and it was not good. They serve your food on styrofoam with plastic utensils. The food was dry and tasteless. Just an overall bad experience. read more

Good is delicious and fast for hibachi. Will come back time and time again...I forgot to mention it is in a great location

Chicken was hard and dry... I think they over cooked it or it was old (reheated) chicken possibly. Either way it was trash. I called in to tell them and they said I needed to drive 15 minutes out my way and bring it back for a full refund. KEEP IN MIND I ORDERED 4 HIBACHI MEALS WITH CHICKEN FOR 4 DIFFERENT PEOPLE. They were all dry. I asked to speak to a manager and some guy in the background yelled "the manager is unavailable right now call back later" instead of just telling that to the lady I was speaking to on the phone. Trash is what the whole experience was. read more

The best hibachi food in town...everything cook fresh to order and the taste was excellent just like when you go to the big hibachi restaurant except they didn't throw the eggs it come with soup if you dine in ...I order scallop and shrimp fried rice it was a lot of food which I can't complain and feed me for all day...ups and yummy yummy sauce to is the best...highly recommended. .. read more

Service was terrible, slow and rude. Food was subpar chicken was grisly and over cooked. To top it off some dirtbag door dinged my car.

Had chicken and steak w fried rice it was delicious. And Yum Yum sauce! I had returned on a Sunday at 12:30 for lunch. To my disappointment they were closed and no one showed up till 1:30. There door clearly says that they open at 12:30 on Sundays or I would give them more stars read more

Half the price than any Japanese steak house and just as good. We get food to go from here about once a month and it is great every time! The yum yum sauce is what yum yum sauce should taste like. Very friendly people that own this place. I suggest getting the steak and shrimp. You get a good amount of everything and the fried rice is more than you can eat! read more

I would eat here over genji-go any day! Not to mention, I called to order and it took 10 min for it to be ready! I wish they delivered! read more

I live close and was so excited once they finally opened. I like the idea of Hibachi carry out. The prices are reasonable for the food quality, and they are a lot less expensive than the fancier Hibachi places. Only reason I didn't give a 5 star is because my sushi rolls could have been better. They are a little small. I like they filet w/ scallops, and their fried rice is delish:) read more
